Elemental Herbology Facial Treatment
Driving down to Low Farm and to the Elysium Wellness Centre, you round the corner to field views, with horses and a feeling of tranquility, away from the hustle and bustle. Parking up right outside, and coming through the doors to Elysium Wellness Centre, you are met by a warm and welcoming entrance reception with awaiting friendly and inviting staff. The sound of gentle chatter and tinkering of tea cups infiltrating from the cafe, alongside calming tranquil background music. Julianne greeted me to discuss my treatment, the formalities of the pre questionnaire and then led me through to the treatment room, walking past the breathtaking views of the fields and courtyard space.

Explaining the treatment; an Elemental Herbology Facial, what would be involved, what my skin was like and any areas I was concerned about. I am then left to change and lay down on the heated bed. Julianne quietly gets me to exhale and breathe out the stresses of the day. To forget I am a mum, wife, business owner… and quieten the noise. Although I’m partial to a deep tissue back massage, foregoing the option of a facial in favour of my go to massage, this was actually only my second facial. I was intrigued to find out how I would find the experience over my favourable back massage, and I wasn’t disappointed. The experience is in fact just as good. I thoroughly enjoyed the exfoliation and scrub, and the soothing of the face mask. I was also delighted that the Elemental Herbology Facial includes a neck, shoulder and head massage, perfect for my stress points. Whilst relaxing with the face mask, you also have a foot or hand massage, with the foot massage recommended for maximum benefits. I was apprehensive about this, as I am known for my tickly feet! However this was my first ever foot massage where I didn’t flinch at all. Just the right amount of pressure and relaxing ambience, it really was a truly theraputic experience. And then the finale; the blinds go up and I am elevated on the electric chair to an inclined sitting position to open my eyes to the most amazing view of fields and a glass of refreshing water with a slice of lemon. I was reassuringly told to take my time to come round and get up. I felt utterly relaxed and content, stress free and inspired by the beautiful view. My skin feels glowing and moisturised, supple and replenished with vitamins and vitality. If this is the secret to younger looking skin, then sign me up weekly!
Full body massage
While I am normally happy to stick to the basic massage, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and experience a new massage treatment; Elemental Herbology Five Element Aroma Massage to relax, revive and rejuvenate…sign me up! Having been advised to arrive early, I was typically ahead of schedule. While I am usually rushing from pillar to post on a daily basis, I wanted to give myself the full opportunity to relax and take in the experience. On arrival, I was greeted with a warm welcome and a detailed questionnaire to gain insight into my mind-space. By better understanding my personality traits, likes, dislikes and even my mood, they were able to customise my experience to tailor my experience- down the carefully selected oils that were used. The massage began with slow, deep breaths. Inhaling the scent of the oils, I began to feel the tension melt already, before a traditional massage technique on my back and shoulders, followed by heated stones and finally, fast movements using her forearms to create a nice sensation of warmth. I now understand this was to rejuvenate my body and improve my circulation.

Quickly from high levels of tension and stress, I had been transfixed into a tranquil state of relaxation, allowing myself to be present in the moment - a very rare occurrence! The massage then travelled to my lower back, where I hold a lot more tension; aches and pains from the day-to-day activities ranging from sitting for long periods of time at work, and more pleasantly from lifting my little ones. The massage then moved onto the back of my arms, legs and feet. Already in a deeply calm state, I turned over and they got to work on the front of my legs, arms, top of the chest and shoulders. By the end of the massage my whole body felt so relaxed, the tension had melted away and my mind was refreshingly clear. I came around slowly, sat up with a glass of water, collected my thoughts and felt in a much better place than before I entered. In my opinion, a massage is a fundamental self-care treatment. A little luxury goes a long way to support your wellbeing and mental health, I would highly recommend.
