THE CHALLENGE Due to the deterioration of the parking deck membrane in high wear areas, and damage to the floor drains, the Engineering Team at the Westin Trillium House Hotel were looking for a long-term and durable solution for their replacement in this busy resort. THE SOLUTION Stonhard was able to install its ultra-durable StonDeck XD2, in combination with a drain replacement program to provide the long-term solutions required. 11 high quality, heavy duty drains were used to replace the old units. Once these repairs had cured, the focus of the restoration turned towards the membrane repairs. The existing failed membrane was removed back to sound concrete by Stonhard’s
in-house expert preparation team, ensuring any cracks were fully exposed (and repaired), and to provide a durable longterm bond for the new system. StonDeck XD2 was placed around the drain repairs and in the high traffic areas, including entrance/exit doors, P2 ramp and the section of the drive lane between the kitchens and garbage/ compactor rooms. StonDeck XD2 is a flexible, solvent-free car park deck coating system which provides a crack bridging, waterproof wearing surface for indoor covered parking decks, underground parking garages and walkways. It cosmetically enhances parking facilities while reducing tire noise and provides a lighter, safer environment for both vehicles and pedestrians.
