Now we do! Stonclad UF is an exceptionally durable, light textured and unsealed system making it ideal for quick turnaround. It also has the same characteristics as our other urethane systems. The fact that Stonclad UF is unsealed akes it unique to other Stonhard systems - and customers need to understand the appearance is different from our other systems. It is flat and does not have the texture, sheen, and smooth look that Stonclad systems are known for.

Stonclad UF is an addition to our already strong portfolio of floors for the food and beverage industry (Stonclad UT and Stonclad UL). While we do offer many floor you still hear your prospects ask “Do you have an unsealed type of floor, something with less texture quickly?”

The Tech Bulletin attached in this launch package provides comprehensive details on Stonclad UF, including where and how to sell it successfully, colours, pricing, and more. Since 2020, Stonhard Europe & Kemtile partners have successfully field tested and sold this product in Europe. We know there is a need, and we know we are the ones who will fill that need. Let’s take advantage of this new opportunity to boost sales and focus on one of our leading core markets - food and beverage! Stonclad UF provides extraordinary performance under the most demanding conditions. Its chemical, abrasion, and impact-resistant properties assure durability and longevity. Stonclad UF excels in the food and beverage markets with its textured, sealed finish, providing a safe and easy to clean floor. Stonclad UF is offered in ten standard colours. The textured finish of Stonclad UF can be manipulated during application based on the customers’ needs for the area. Note that each Stonclad UF installation will have some variation in its textured finish as a result of its hand-troweled application. • Customer’s Needs - Think about the installation environment. In a poultry plant, where you find water and animal byproduct on the floor, the customer is typically less concerned with a uniform finish and more concerned with a highly functional and durablw floor. Stonclad UF is perfect for these applications.

• Finished Appearance - Stonclad UF has a very distince finished appearance compared to the traditional Stonclad offerings. While Stonclad UT and UR provide a uniform, consistent finish, Stonclad UF has some variation. It is a natural part of the had-troweled finish, and even the best installers will still leave some variation in the finished texture and appearance.

Date: July 20, 2022

• Stonclad UF can only be hand-troweled and takes more time to install than UT/UR

• Hand-troweled UF will always have some variations in the finish This will allow us to get into new spaces that were previous ly very difficult to turn around quickly. Labour Limitations

“Stonclad UF can be applied without primer depending on substrate conditions. For more information on when primer should be used on installations please consult Stonhard Technical Service.” Stonclad UF is a four-component, textured, hand trowel=applied, polyurethane mortar system. It consists of urethane-urea binder, pigments, and an aggregate blend of calcined flint and graded quartz materials. UF can be applied at thicknesses between 6mm - 9mm (1/4” - 3/8”) depending on the customer’s needs. Stonclad UF is similar to UT and UR in exhibiting excellent perofmrance in thermal shock/therm cycling, high-impact and/or high-traffic environments. What sets Stonclad UF apart from UT and UR is its finish. The liquid-rich mortar requires no sealer and provides a dense chemically-resistant barrier. This allows us to better serve our customers by providing a quicker installation option, without sacrificing the performance and quality Stonhard has built its brand around. Application techniquest also differ from other Stonclad offerings. While Stonclad UT and Stonclad UR can be applied via screed box and power troweled (UR), Stonclad UF is only recommended to be hand-trowel applied. A four man team can lay anywhere from 100 - 150 m2 of Stonclad UF per day, whereas Stonclad UR and Stonclad UT can easily reach five times that Thisamount.“limitation”

Stonhard excels in providing solutions in Food & Beverage environments for decades. Our Stonclad product family, particularly our urethane mortar offerings, are excellent at handling the abuse associated with heavy traffic and hot washdowns. We are excited to announce another member of the Stonclad product family to help bolster product offerings and provide our customers another solution, Stonclad UF. Stonclad UF was designed to help fill a gap in our Stonclad urethane product offerings. Current offerings are somewhat limited in fast-turnaround scenarios, requiring additional steps for sealers that can push our price point too high or make installations over weekend shutdowns difficult to schedule. Food & Beverage environments are notorious for requiring quick installations in less-than-ideal environments. Stonclad UF helps address these points by offering a single step mortar system that will perform in some of the most abusive environements our cliwents have.

We are excited to bring this material to launch and look forward to seeing it embraced by our sales force as it has been a highly requested solution.

• UV Instability - It is not often these areas are concerned with UV colour stability, but it is worth mentioning that Stonclad UF is not UV-stable and will discolour over time. Some colours are more apparent than others, but please note that you can expect olour shifting over time if exposed to UV light. Stonclad UR and UT both have sealer options to combat UV exposure.

You may be thinking - how does Steonclad UF fit in the Stonclad product family or why should I quote Stonclad UT or UR if UF can be installed in a day? There are a few reasons to consider Stonclad UT/UR over Stonclad UF and vice versa.

WHY UF vs UT/UR ? WHY UT/UR vs UF ? BIGGEST ADVANTAGES OVER UT AND UR: BIGGEST ADVANTAGES OVER UF: • UF can be installed in one day, no need for sealer. • UT/UR have a more consistent “Stonhard” finish

in inssatllation creates an interesting balance between Stonclad systems, UT/UR, and UF, where we need to make educated recommendations and quotes based on area and labour limitations. Many quick turnaround installations will fall in or below the 1000 - 1500 sq ft range, making a one-day installation an easy decision. However, for larger installations it becomes more efficient to use UT/UR.

• Area Size - Areas larger than 3000 square feet can be more cost-effective to install UT or UR. This will vary by job, but if UF will take 3 days to install, UT or UR may be a better option.

It cures to an impervious surface requiring no additional sealer. Additionally, Stonclad UF is self priming, making it ideal for quick installations to minimize down time.

PRECAUTIONS

COLOR Stonclad UF is available in 10 standard colors. Refer to the Stonclad Color Sheet for more information. Contact your local Stonhard representative with any questions.

Note: Stonclad UF is suitable for application over new/green concrete. The concrete must be in place for a minimum of 5 days, have a vapor b arrier installed beneath it, be sufficiently dry, and have achieved enough strength to handle mechanical preparation.

• DO NOT attempt to install material if the temperatures of Stonclad UF components are not within 60 to 77˚F and substrate/air temperatures are not within 45 to 77˚F.The cure time and application properties of the material are severely affected in temperatures outside these ranges.

• In case of contact, flush area with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention. Wash skin with soap and water.

Note: Stonproof materials must fully cure before applying Stonclad UF. Texture The default level of finished texture can be adjusted based on the area’s intended use. Wet areas will receive a higher level of texture, whereas dry areas can receive a less textured finish. The level of texture is determined through application techniques. No additional materials are needed to achieve these textures. Note that with increased texture comes a general decrease in “cleanability” of the floor. It is important to find the necessary balance between slip resistance and cleanability for each installation.

CLEAN No wax, grease, oils, fats, soil, loose or foreign materials, and laitance. In areas that may be contaminated by grease or oil, a water drop test should be performed and Stonkleen TD9 should be used to clean the surface. Refer to the Stonkleen TD9 Product Data Sheet for instructions. DRY Stonclad UF Mortar can be applied over a moist surface but will not adhere to areas containing standing water. Remove puddles before application. WARM The temperature of the floor must be at least 45°F. Do not attempt to install the material if the temperature of the components is above 85°F. High temperatures will cause the material to harden (cure) more quickly than desired. Conversely, if the temperature of the components is 60°F or lower, the Stonclad UF will be stiff and difficult to apply.

NOTES

COVERAGE Each unit of Stonclad UF will cover approximately 200 sq.ft of surface at a nominal ¼ inch thickness.

• If a metal surface, no rust or mill scale and no flexing under load.

• Surface texture of resinous flooring surfaces can change over time as a result of wear and surface contaminants. Surfaces should be cleaned regularly, and deep cleaned periodically, to ensure no contaminant buildup occurs. Surfaces should be periodically inspected to ensure they are performing as expected and may require traction enhancing maintenance to ensure they continue to meet expectations for the particular area and conditions of use.

• No loose or crumbling concrete.

When utilizing Stonproof ME7, CT5, or RH7 under urethane mortars, a full broadcast of texture #3 to refusal into the membrane is required. Failure to utilize the broadcast can lead to bond failure between the membrane and mortar.

CAUTION Avoid contact with isocyanate and polyol as they may cause skin and/or eye irritation. In case of contact, immediately flush the area with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention. Applicators should cover hands with impervious gloves. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after use, and before eating, smoking, etc. Stonclad UF Part C 1 contains Portland Cement and silica. A NIOSH approved dust/mist respirator is required during mixing. Use only with adequate ventilation.

STORAGE Prior to mixing, Stonclad UF components must be stored at temperatures of 60 to 85˚F The shelf life of the liquids is one year while the C 1 has a 6 month shelf life in the original, unopened container. Do not store out of doors, in boiler rooms, compressor rooms, refrigerators, or near radiators, steam pipes, etc. for evaluation only. We further reserve the right to modify and change products or literature at any time and without prior notice.

JOINTS Any moving joint should be cut and treated properly using Stonflex MP7. Joints to be honored can be marked and overlaid with Stonclad UF mortar then cut and backfilled the next day after the mortar is sufficiently hard. The saw cut should go through the mortar completely to expose the joint. For additional information and directions for filling joints, please consult the Product Data Sheet for Stonflex MP7 or review Tech Line Volume 17 Sealants.

MIXING STONCLAD UF Empty the entire contents of Part B polyol into a 5 gallon mixing pail. Place the mixing pail onto a JB Blender and empty the entire contents of Part A isocyanate into the pail. Add Part C 2 (pigment powder). Set the timer to 90 seconds and activate the blender to begin the mix cycle. Occasionally agitate the material with the paddle to ensure the sides of the bucket are scraped. Ensure you mix the entire contents for the full 90 seconds. Under mixed material can lead to blistering or soft material. When the first 90 second mix cycle has completed, reactivate the timer and immediately pour the entire contents of one bag of Stonclad UF Part C 1 (bulk aggregate) into the pail. Continue the mix cycle with all components on the blender for an additional 2 minutes until all material is mixed and uniform. Colder temperatures may require more time to ensure the material is fully mixed. Do not remove any material to “increase flow”. Allow the entire contents to mix for the complete mix cycle. When the blender stops, scrape the excess material from the mixing blade, remove the pail from the blender and deliver it to the floor for application. Periodically scrape clean the bucket or bulk mixer of material gathering in the bottom to avoid old material being introduced into new mixes. By structuring the sequence of operations as described above, there should always be a fresh batch of Stonclad UF mortar ready to be transferred to applicators on the floor. Multiple blenders may be necessary to maintain a steady flow. Following this structured sequence of operations reduces the possibility of mixing mistakes.

BULK MIXING STONCLAD UF

When using a bulk mixer for Stonclad UF, the liquids and pigment should be drill mixed in a separate bucket for the full 90-second mix cycle before being poured into the bulk mixer. It is recommended that the liquids and aggr egate are mixed together for a minimum of 90 seconds, with time starting after the last bag of material has been poured. If the aggregate is poured into the bulk mixer first before the liquids, the mix cycle should be extended to 120 150 seconds (or longer if necessary) to ensure full mixing of the liquids and aggregate. Remember the aggregate is a reactive component in the system chemistry. Ensure the material is fully mixed before delivering it to the floor.

WATERPROOFING AND CRACK TREATMENT

IMPORTANT: If any unusually long delay should occur, such as a break for lunch, it is necessary to trowel up to a termination point or joint. Completely clean all mixing blades BEFORE ceasing operation. This is extremely important! Immediate cleaning of the tools will prevent later contamination of new batches of Stonclad UF with particles of partially cured material when the mixing operation resumes. The presence of such particles would seriously affect the finish of the floor and must be avoided!

Pour the entire contents of the pail on to the floor in a bead. Avoid scraping the sides and do not flip the pail to allow it to drain. Doing so could introduce under mixed material onto the floor. Using a standard pool or float trowel, spread the material evenly to the desired finished thickness. Carefully check for areas where the mortar has “torn” apart and be sure to close them. Working the material in one direction will help reduce surface tearing. If there are key chases cut into the floor ensure enough mortar has been applied to fill the key chases. Avoid over working or “polishing” the mortar with the trowel at a flat angle. This will remove the desired texture finish. The finished Stonclad UF surface should be level and textured Forthroughout.alesstextured

COVE BASE Stonclad UR in conjunction with urethane primer vertical is used for the cove base in all Stonclad UF applications. For detailed application instructions see Stonclad UR Directions.

Note: Once the material has been mixed, working time is approximately 15 minutes. Limit the width of your working area to ensure material on the floor is fresh enough to tie in with new batches of material, avoiding transition/batch lines between mixes.

On large applications, a screed applicator can also be used to apply the mixed Stonclad UF mortar to the floor. Before use, the screed applicator must be set 1/16 inch higher than the desired finish thickness. Slowly pull the screed box across the floor to apply the mortar. Finish the mortar using hand trowels to the desired texture level.

Note: This material cannot be power troweled like other Stonclad mortars.

finish in dry areas, a clean, dry nap roller can be used to help reduce texture. After the mortar has been applied to the finished thickness, gently roll the surface of the UF mortar no more than 2 passes with the nap roller. This will reduce the finished texture evenly throughout the area and give the floor a more consistent appearance. Change the roller every 500 sq.ft.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION Proper preparation is critical to ensure an adequate bond and system performance. The substrate must be properly prepared utilizing mechanical methods. Stonclad UF is tolerant to damp concrete substrates but cannot be applied over standing water. Dry any puddles or allow them to evaporate before installing the overlayment. Questions regarding substrate preparation or suitable conditions should be directed to your local Stonhard representative or technical service In areas with thermal shock or cycling, the use of key chases are recommended. Make saw cuts of 3/8 in x 3/8 in/1 cm x 1 cm around the perimeter of the room, approximately 2 in/5 cm away from the wall, directly into the concrete. Around any drains or metal panels present in the floor, cut two parallel key chases spaced approx. 2 in/5 cm apart such that there are two chases 2 in/5 cm and 4 in/10 cm off the metal (“framing” the metal). Vacuum these chases and remove all loose concrete before proceeding with the overlayment.
