What’s Next? Launched in 2014 and following last year’s success, NEXT returns for a second and vibrant edition. Brighter and richer, the pavilion welcomes a wide range of innovative start-ups and ground-breaking organizations that are the front runners to new and alternative business models in film. Whether they are focused on storytelling, financing, distribution or marketing, they all share the same taste for adventure. Times are changing faster than ever and with empowered audiences and the rise of digital technology, it is essential to discuss and debate the new challenges of the industry. In this spirit, NEXT aims to respond to the needs and inquiries of professionals by offering a ‘round-the-clock’ daily program of round-tables, workshops and special sessions. By giving a voice to the leading thinkers and pushing the boundaries of the film Industry, the Marché du Film is proud to enter this realm of cinema and excited to add value to the Market experience. Guanajuato International Film Festival hosted the first GIFF Hack, inviting creative coders, programmers and engineers to envision the future of filmmaking during a 40-hour hack-a-thon. They will present three of the most outstanding projects: “XP SOUND”, an audiovisual experience that enables the user immersion into the film, emphasizing the sound element through a threedimensional appreciation. “ENTI”, an external content platform which brings virtual reality closer and extends the movie universe around you. “BY FRAMES”, an efficient method of digitizing film memory so that stories can be preserved and told.
