From the Editor Welcome to our August issue.
August 2020
Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to let us know how pleased they were to receive their July Stotfold News Magazine through their door. It has been great to be able to do what we love once again. Speaking of which, one of the best parts of our job has to be being able to help local residents, either through the magazine or through our facebook page. If you haven’t followed the story on social media you can find out how we were able to help one Stotfold resident this week and how the power of facebook and community spirit wins every time! Our birthday pages are as popular as ever this month with one very special birthday included for our August edition. Often we are asked if we know who the oldest resident is in Stotfold. This month we have great pleasure in wishing Stotfold resident Peggy Hall a wonderful 100th BIRTHDAY! Peggy moved to Stotfold back in 2001 to be close to her family - We are sure she will enjoy celebrating and being able to mark this milestone birthday once it is safe to do so. On behalf of your fellow Stotfold residents Peggy, may we wish you many happy returns on your very special day! Thank you to Chris Nurse for the stunning photograph we have used on the front of our August edition. This particular shot is probably the most popular picture we get sent however, we loved the vibrancy of this version and so just had to use it. Thanks Chris. We are looking forward to spending some time away this month so will be sure to pack our copy of the magazine with us - dont forget, we always enjoy seeing your holiday snaps featuring your favourite local magazine so please do send them in to us - whether you are holidaying at home this year or managing to get away. Until September! Joanne

2020-The Year We Never Expected We wanted to share with you this wonderful poem written by Stotfold News reader Helen Backhouse -We think it captures the feelings and hopes we all have for a better future..
The year is 2020, and it’s all been rather strange, We weren’t to know that life would pause and everything would change. It all began in China, and the nightmare soon unfurled, This was the start of a pandemic that would overtake the world. Coronavirus quickly came to us from overseas, Infecting people as it went – this horrible disease. People started getting scared, and mostly stayed inside, As many fell so very ill, and sadly sometimes died.
Gradually, then suddenly, we found ourselves restricted, This was a situation that no-one could have predicted. Boris Johnson said to stay at home and closed the schools, Protect the NHS, save lives – you must obey the rules:
Exercise just once, only go out if it’s essential, If you forget to wash your hands it could be detrimental. Everybody panicked and bought soap and toilet rolls, So supermarkets had to implement stricter controls.
Everything was cancelled, there was widespread doom and gloom, We missed our friends and family, and had to meet on ‘Zoom’. We tried to have a set routine to keep up with home schooling, When going out we had to stick to the two metre ruling. Pubs and cafés closed which meant a loss of jobs for some, To be quite honest most of us by now felt rather numb. The self employed were furloughed, we thanked health staff for their labours, We clapped on Thursdays every week and got to know our neighbours.
Prince Charles then caught it, and officials, even the Prime Minister, No-one’s immune from this disease that is so very sinister. Social distancing and lockdown - it’s a whole new way of living, But we have to isolate as this disease is unforgiving. We tune in for the daily briefing every day at five To get updates on the death toll, and give thanks that we’re alive. We’re shielded in our safe cocoons far from reality, And just cannot imagine wearing daily PPE. What’s happening in hospitals is hard to comprehend, We will never truly understand and just cannot pretend To know the pain of nursing patients who have later died, And had to leave this world without a loved one by their side. Unprecedented times we haven’t seen here since the war, Even older people haven’t lived like this before. Rainbows appeared in windows to bring little rays of hope, Seeing them brought comfort when we found it hard to cope.
4
Captain Tom raised millions at the age of ninety-nine, His knighthood well deserved for helping those on the front line. There’s a new sense of community where people came together, We’re thankful for our gardens as it’s been such lovely weather.
So many hours of boredom led to people comfort eating, We baked and did some DIY but days just kept repeating. Musicals were streamed online to finish off the week, They gave something to look forward to when everything was bleak.
The best part was that life slowed down, the time was such a gift, Time to heal relationships where things had gone adrift. Our homes and gardens were improved because we weren’t at work, Those tasks that were before put off now no excuse to shirk.
People seemed much more content, they stopped to say hello, Maybe more good will come from this than we will ever know. Wildlife are coming out to play, the world is getting greener, Nature now is healing and the air is so much cleaner.
As things return to ‘normal’ our priorities have shifted, We now are much more focused when before we may have drifted. Things won’t be the same and the economy’s in tatters, But through these times we’ve learnt without a doubt what really matters. So what will we all take from this and what is there to learn? Is the world we lived in one to which we should return? Maybe it’s the time to reassess your old routines To have a think about your life and what it really means Random acts of kindness like a gift or just a smile, Making time to do these little things is so worthwhile. An effort made for someone else will never go to waste, And will ensure that faith in humankind is not misplaced.
Maybe we should also count our blessings from above, What this world could do with now is faith, and hope, and love. Be the friend that someone needs, the one who really cares, The one who makes a difference, who’s the answer to their prayers.
Before this is a memory we maybe should reflect On what’s actually important and the things we should protect. Appreciate the ones we love, enjoy the little things, Maybe live more simply and embrace the joy life brings.

Stotfold Junior parents show support for
NHS workers
Not being able to complete the final term of training at Stotfold Development Centre was disappointing for children and parents alike as the centre ceased training for the final term of the year.
In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, many of the centre’s parents felt they would like to do something meaningful to help our wonderful NHS service as they continue to work tirelessly to treat those people affected by the disease. ‘Here for each other’ is the registered charity dedicated to supporting the Lister, New QEII, Hertford County Hospital and the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) they are facing an unprecedented demand for NHS services and are working incredibly hard to ensure that they continue to provide extraordinary care for patients whilst also looking after their staff.
Coach Matt Bennett enjoying training with Development Centre children
Parents from Stotfold Development Centre agreed to donate their final term fees to this appeal, raising a staggering £3,200 in the process.
Matt Bennett coach at the Development Centre commented ‘We would like to thank the generosity of the DC parents for their donations and a special thank you to our local NHS staff from us all!” The East and North Hertfordshire Hospital Charity were thrilled at the donation, ‘As a small local charity, we rely on the support of our local community. Thanks to generous donations like this, we can continue to go above and beyond for our patients, visitors and staff through funding special extras from state of the art equipment to improvements to patient areas and investment in staff development.’ Brilliant work Stotfold Development Centre parents!

Ensures Bert Keeps His Seat
85 year old Stotfold resident Bert enjoys nothing more than sitting outside his home enjoying the view and chatting to passers-by at his home in Blacksmith Close. Unfortunately, his enjoyment was cut short this month after thieves removed his newly purchased chair from outside his home sparking a facebook plea from his daughter, appealing for its return. ‘Dad loves sitting outside and we recently purchased this chair to enable him to get up and down in comfort. It was specially made for Dad and was such a wonderful way for him to socialise and enjoy being outside his home’ daughter Mandy told the Stotfold News Magazine. Alongside several Stotfold facebook pages, the Stotfold News got to work posting a plea for its return and appealing to anyone with information to come forward. After reaching over 30,000 people and the post being shared nearly 400 times, Stotfold resident Lyn Whitley contacted us to let us know that her neighbour had spotted what they thought could be the chair, dumped along the road in Astwick towards the A1m.
who

Without hesitation, we popped along to see (informing concerned passers by we were not fly tipping ourselves!) and located the seat, discarded without a thought exactly where Lyn had said. We were able to return the chair undamaged back to Bert who was thrilled at it’s return. Needless to say, Bert was overwhelmed at the kindness of so many local people and the concern shown by the community of Stotfold. On behalf of both himself and his family he wishes to thank everyone that took the time to help find his new chair and to re-install it back where it belongs. With the assistance of Steve from Stotfold Home Maintenance Services and Ken Haskell the chair has now been secured safely in position to ensure it doesn’t become a temptation for thieves once again. Thank you Stotfold for helping to demonstrate that community spirit certainly does triumph every time!

Local Friends Run 350km In June For NHS Charities Stotfold friends Andy Goddard and Alex Gilchrist joined together with old school pal Mike Rimmer to set themselves a challenge to run a whopping 350km in one single month and all for a good cause. For seasoned fitness fans Mike and Andy, this was challenge enough but for Alex the journey to fitness took a slightly tougher path. With plenty of determination and motivation the three ex Samuel Whitbread pupils ran their way to achieving their target on 30th June, completing their challenge at The Green in Stotfold and raising a fantastic £840 to date for NHS Charities Together.
"Myself, Alex Gilchrist and Mike Rimmer have set ourselves a challenge to raise money for the NHS and the fantastic work they are doing, not only during this coronavirus pandemic, but year after year.” “They literally save lives every day and is something we will always be indebted to.” “We have set ourselves the challenge to raise as much money as possible to help towards research, care, equipment and all the endless amazing things they do and between us we ran 350km from 1st-30th June, working out to just under 120km or 75 miles per person.” Andy told the Stotfold News Magazine. “Together, we wanted to show our respect and gratitude as they work tirelessly in the face of the virus. It's our turn to make sure we look after them, to ensure they can keep doing their vital work." The boys had been prepping for the run all over Stotfold, Fairfield and Shefford and were delighted to achieve their goal. The Justgiving page set up by Andy is still collecting sponsorship and the boys hope that this will continue so they are able to raise as much money as they can for this most worthy cause. The link for the boys facebook page can be found at: https://www.justgiving.com/team/team350km

I am sorry that we have had to cancel all of our meetings since March due to the Covid-19 restrictions. Now, although there has been some easing of the restrictions, the requirements for our future outings means that there is still no prospect of meeting again for the foreseeable future. So, the outings in August, September and October are cancelled as is the meeting in August. I have not cancelled the meetings in October and December as yet, or the outing in November. We will await the pronouncements from the government and the church hall.

News from
Stotfold Watermill
Those of you who visited the nature reserve during July will have found the path alongside the river as you approached the Baldock Road bridge closed off. The reason for this was that the willow trees on the opposite bank appeared to be in danger of falling and we were concerned that if they came down in the strong winds that we were experiencing, visitors to the reserve could be injured by them. One tree in particular was split near its base and creaking loudly. This has been dealt with by Central Beds Council as a matter of safety for walkers along the river bank Kingfisher Way. There remain at least three large branches on trees nearby which, whilst appearing sound at present, could break and fall across the river and on to reserve footpath. At the time of writing we are looking into removing them. There was some excitement earlier when the sit-on mower owned our maintenance volunteer team from Teasel caught fire whilst mowing the first meadow. Hopefully, their Farrah & Anna with their models insurance policy will provide for a replacement machine and they will soon be able to keep the paths trimmed again. The footpaths through and around the second meadow are a particularly delightful walk during these summer months with a vast array of wildflowers to be seen. In the autumn the meadow will be mown so that the seeds are shed to provide for new plants to grow next spring. Holiday Village

If you come to the mill on a Sunday afternoon when we open again next year and introduce yourselves, we will ask the miller if he will let you start the machinery to make flour. By the middle of this month we will have held our critical meeting to decide whether we will be able to go ahead with the Working Steam Weekend in October. We are very anxious to hold the event if we possibly can so please look out for news on our website at www.stotfoldmill.com or on our Facebook or Twitter pages over the next few weeks. Once the decision has been made that we can hold the event we will be looking to take bookings from traders so if you are interested in a stand on the field be ready to contact us.
We will desperately need a team of volunteers to help make the event a success, so if you are one of our past volunteers or you are looking for a chance to contribute please look in next month’s column. Our Lock
down Story
Kip McGrath Letchworth Education Centre
The Letchworth Kip McGrath centre
On Saturday 14th March we had just completed another week of delivering English and maths lessons to over 150 students, ranging from Year 1 to Year 11. The COVID-19 situation was very much on my mind and although the situation was changing on a daily basis, we were expecting to be open the following week with the understanding that school closures, and therefore closure of the Centre, would not be far away. However, the following day a member of our team called to say they had symptoms of what might be COVID-19. The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students being paramount, I took the decision to close the Centre with immediate effect and, as it turned out, one week before schools closed.
What followed was a whirlwind period of around four weeks. Kip McGrath has its own interactive online learning platform, ‘Kip Online’, but we had not previously used it at our Centre. With face to face tutoring no longer an option, this was clearly the time to engage with ‘Kip Online’ so that we could continue to support our students. Having phoned all our parents, it was overwhelmingly clear that the vast majority were keen to continue with online tutoring. The main exception were our Year 11 students who have sadly been denied the opportunity take the GCSE exams they had worked so hard towards. In normal times, we offer two sessions per day after school plus three sessions on Saturday. With children now being at home all day, it was necessary to re-work our teaching timetable to provide sessions throughout the day. We created a training programme for our teachers, we invested in new laptops for them where their own were not powerful enough to run the ‘Kip Online’ system and we lent out laptops to some students who didn’t have access to one.
PLANNING
The ‘Kip Online’ platform provides a safe and secure video and audio HOME IMPROVEMENTS OR AN EXTENSION? environment for our students who can speak directly with their teacher but not with the other students in their session. The dedicated Providing architectural design and planning services for Kip McGrath resources are the same computer and written ones we residential building, extension and conversion projects, use for our in-Centre lessons but the activities that students would usually do on paper are completed using the system’s interactive whiteboard. S & S Coates After much planning and preparation, we launched ‘Kip Online’ on Monday 6th April. I must admit to being quite apprehensive, but we kept in close communication with parents as each session went live and everything went remarkably well.
We have now been using the ‘Kip Online’ platform for three months and have established a smooth and productive working routine. We are also able to carry out online assessments and are now enrolling new students who we have only met over a video link – this feels a little strange but is surely a sign of the times. We have even been working with children in Spain and California!
What does the future hold? We would very much like to get back to working in the Centre with our teachers and students, but we won’t re- until the Government guidance clearly allows it and until we believe that we can do it safely. Until then, the ‘Online’ platform has proven itself to be an excellent addition to the tutoring service we provide and I fully expect us to continue using it in the future alongside in-Centre lessons for those parents and children who might prefer it.

Letters to the Editor Dear Editor, Recently, due to the better weather I have noticed a lot more people walking on the country roads and lanes around Stotfold, either with their dogs or children or both. What I have noticed is that they are walking with their backs to oncoming traffic.
The Highway Code rule no'2 for pedestrians is quite clear. Rule 2 If there is no pavement, keep to the right-hand side of the road so that you can see oncoming traffic. You should take extra care and be prepared to walk in single file, especially on narrow roads or in poor light keep close to the side of the road.
It may be safer to cross the road well before a sharp right-hand bend so that oncoming traffic has a better chance of seeing you. Cross back after the bend. Kind regards Chris Hall

Letters to the Editor Dear Editor,
The past few weeks have challenged us all BUT I thought this story might make your readers smile.
With my hair getting longer, greyer and sticking out as the weeks passed then 'HORRORS' my front Crown falling out leaving me gappy and looking really old, I was describing the incident on the phone to my cousin in Bedford.
It made her laugh when I said I was auditioning for the part of the Wicked Witch.
A few days later the postman knocked my door, gave me a weird smile and said "I'm sure this is the right address" "Please take this parcel" Another funny smile as he past me the package. St Mary’s Academy
What an end to such a very different year! As well as welcoming back our eight bubbles of Foundation and Year 1 children we also managed to offer some school time to all of our other years. The aim of this was for our children to be able to spend some time with their classmates and teachers and to say goodbye!
Whilst there was little that we consider 'normal' it was lovely to have more children back with us and the children really enjoyed themselves. We were very reassured that many of them had managed to maintain their knowledge and previous learning and adapted to the new arrangements easily. For those children that didn't have time in school we held regular 'zoom' sessions with everyone getting together online and communicating virtually!
Our Year 4s also managed to have fun at their new look leaver 'events' which was especially important as they sadly missed their residential trip planned for the week we started the lockdown. We wish all of our Year 4 students going on to their new journey in Middle school the best of luck. There were some sad moments too as we said goodbye to Mr Hadley and Mrs Purdie but we wish them both the very best of luck in their new adventures!
We welcome Miss Batchelor, our new teacher in Coral Class, Mrs Warren, our new teaching assistant in Crystal Class and Miss Pickett and Miss Spencer into Foundation and Year 1 as 1:1 support staff for our younger children.
As a school we are also very proud of our fundraising efforts in conjunction with our parent's association, the SMSA, which in this last academic year totalled over £6,600.00. This has been distributed to many charities like Macmillan, Children In Need, CHUMS, Save the Children, Comic Relief, Mary’s Meals and The Need Project. Many thanks go to our staff, community and families for their continued support without which this would not have been possible.

Poppies Nursery
Welcome to our news!
We have been so pleased and proud of our children who returned this term to both our nurseries. They have all been exceptionally well behaved and very happy to be back! We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back in September (if all goes to plan)!
From September, both Poppies and Poppyfields have spaces in their nurseries for children aged 2 and over. If you would like further information or to apply for a place please email our team on billpoppies@gmail.com for Poppies (St Marys Academy site) and billpoppyfields@gmail.com for Poppyfields (our Fairfield Park site) to register your interest. If you would like an informal chat, we will be pleased to assist you. Both our nurseries are rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted and our ethos promotes children learning through hands on experiences, with nature and the outdoor environment at the heart of our practice. We have beautiful outdoor ares, The Spinney and The Nook, where we enjoy forest school activities. Due to the current restrictions, visits to the nurseries are not possible to ensure our children, staff and visitors are kept as safe as possible. We do have a website poppiesandpoppyfields-nursery.co.uk and hope to provide look-arounds later in the summer.

Pix Brook Academy
News from
During the weekends of the 4th and 19th July Willmott Dixon opened the new Pix Brook Site to new and existing parents and governors for a tour. I am delighted and grateful that Willmott Dixon were able to provide this opportunity for new parents to visit the school at this crucial stage in its construction. I think it is fair to say that WD have been confronted by many challenges throughout the process and to be at this point with two months to go is an indictment to the commitment and hard work of all concerned. Many will not realise that the initial programme for this build was extraordinarily challenging from the inception. If this is combined with the impact of extreme weather at the start of the year and the subsequent arrival of a global pandemic in the form of COVID-19 then it is understandable that WD should feel proud to be able to show future parents Are you having having around at this point.

As the Principal of the academy the scale and quality of the new school can only be appreciated “up close”. This has been a real learning experience for me and I have been able to contribute to some very detailed discussions relating to the facilities and finish. I know the staff and pupils simply cannot wait to move into the school in September and start to make the school into a “living” building. I have talked previously about creating a legacy, this is perhaps the first moment in that process where we can see that legacy start: the first pupils to visit the school happened this weekend, and those visitors are now part of the school’s history!
The visits were organised by the school and conducted by WD senior staff who were able to provide expert guidance and information pertaining to the facilities and construction process. This is a first in the industry in terms of construction process and will result in the fastest completion of a school of this size in the country. The expectation is that this will provide the model for future construction.

Etonbury Academy
Our Etonbury families have brought many of our staff to tears, both of sadness and joyful in these past few months. What continues to shine through is the strength of our Etonbury community who have shown such incredible support to our staff. Your letters of encouragement, thanks and gratitude have kept our staff going, even though many of them have experienced bereavement and juggling caring responsibilities themselves whilst continuing to provide learning materials, teaching, pastoral support and ensuring the building remains safe to open. We would have loved nothing more to see all our students back in school, but we have been running at maximum capacity and are proud that we have had well over national numbers attending each day. This is a considerable achievement but was only possible with your help. Thank you. As we write this, we have just received the news that we can start planning to fully re-open in September. We are very pleased to be welcoming all our students back to Etonbury Academy, and will hopefully been able to share some of our plans with Etonbury parents/ carers by the time you read this, following the scrutiny of our Governing body and the Trustees. Our site team have already been making site improvements and much more will continue during the Summer break. We are delighted to announce that we will be taking over the temporary Pix Brook Academy building located on our site later in the Autumn term providing additional facilities and new spaces for Etonbury. When we are able, we would like to welcome all our community including alumni to view our school and see the changes. Following the long period of growth in the past 5 years, the past two have brought the most significant and positive change to Etonbury, and we are incredibly proud that under new leadership, and the recruitment of a vibrant and highly experienced teaching team we have achieved: 1. Second highest progress 8 results in the local authority - our GCSE students proving the progress during their time at the school is better than the national average. 2. Good Provider by Ofsted (Feb 20) 3. Recognition as one of the Top 100 improving and performing schools in the UK by Government IQ Our students have been excelling too in these past few months. Lucas received a High Sheriff of Bedfordshire Young Citizen Award and Abi has renewed her contract with Arsenal Ladies, both in Year 6! Carters one the virtual sports day, over 2000 praise texts have gone out during lockdown, and we have received over 200 entries in the ETA Big Challenge. We cannot wait to continue on our journey of success with our students, especially our new year 4s who have all had their virtual meets with their Form Tutors! See you all in September.

Pippin Pre-School
Before we know it, the new term will be upon us. We re-open our doors for the new term on Monday 7th September (dependent on government guidance). We look forward to seeing the children who will be returning to us after the summer break and hearing about their summer antics, together with welcoming lots of new children who will be starting their Pippin journey, we look forward to getting to know them and their families. Unfortunately we were unable to host our Open Morning in July for our new starters. However, we are pleased to announce parents and children can view a virtual tour of our preschool on our website from 1st August. Our AGM is scheduled next term on Monday 5th October, 7.30pm (the format will confirmed nearer the time whether it be virtual or at the pre-school building). This is an opportunity for parents/carers to hear more about what has been happening at the pre-school over the past year and our plans for the year ahead. Our new Committee members are voted in to steer the Pre-School over the coming year. Anyone interested in joining our Committee should come along to hear more about what is involved from the members themselves. We are looking for new stock to replenish our pre-loved uniform shop, in particular Superstars uniform, all donations welcome, please hand into the office from 7th September. We continually require items for our gluing table and welcome any old buttons, milk bottle tops, swatches of fabric and old birthday cards. Please drop any items off to the office during term time. We wish to thank everyone who has donated so far. Thank you for your interest in our Pre-School. We look forward to sharing more of our news with you again next month.

Stotfold Scout Group
In June, some of our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Leaders joined in online with Boyd Field’s online lockdown jamboree: BigJam: Lockdown edition. During the day, the BigJam team encouraged young people around not only Biggleswade District but also the whole of the UK to take part in the jamboree at home. They pitched tents or built indoor dens, cooked meals, did activities, and finished with a campfire and singsong. Scout Aaron and Cub William pioneered a flagpole in their back garden, with the help of their dad, Chris, who is a Beaver Leader! Not to be left out, another Beaver Leader, John, built a foil oven to cook smores for lunch with his children, Beaver Thomas and Cub James. Cub Section Assistant Jonathan and Cub Henry pitched a tent in their back garden. Beaver Luca and Cub Mylo used marshmallows and spaghetti to pioneer a gateway. Beaver Thomas pitched a tent in his garden and enjoyed eating his lunch outside.
Some of our young people have also been working hard on their badges during lockdown. Cub Lucy has worked really hard on her Personal Challenge and has completed it by doing her Home Help badge. Lucy had to sew on a button, keep her room clean and tidy for a month, and help with the laundry, among lots of other things! If you would like to put your child’s name on the waiting list for the appropriate section, please contact Mrs Jan Peace (01462 639356 or janpeace@gmail.com) If you are interested in becoming a Leader or helper, or require further information, please contact the acting Group Scout Leader, Mr Neil Ludlow (gslstotfold@gmail.com) Pictured below: Aaron & William, Jonathan & Henry, John,Thomas & James,Thomas,Luca & Mylo and Lucy.

Lock down Recipe Dressings & Rubs
with Trace Buggins, Head Chef at Mount Pleasant Golf Club Hello all,
Local chef Trace Buggins
Wow just got this in to the editor in time !! As you can imagine we’ve been busy writing new menus for the reopening of the Golf Club Bistro, so with them still fresh in my mind and by the time you read this edition we should (fingers crossed) be deep into the warm summer months . As we have our salads on the table I’ve dug out few dressings to use including an old fashioned homemade salad cream along with some of my favourite seasoning rubs for meat before they are thrown on those hot bars on the barbecue! Enjoy the sun, life and above all food đ&#x;Œž Trace.
Asian Beef 125 ml soy sauce. 125 ml Worcester sauce. 45 g tomato purĂŠe. 60 ml white wine vinegar. 125ml oil. 250g soft brown sugar. 8 cloves of garlic (chopped). Salt and pepper Mix all the ingredients together and bring to the boil. Enjoy an Asian Beef Salad Simmer for four minutes and leave to cool. Leave steaks in marinade for 12 hours before cooking or use the Sunday roast leftovers , just slice and cover with marinade for a great salad .
Old fashioned Salad Cream 5 sprigs of thyme (stripped). 15 tarragon leaves. ½ tbsp caster sugar. ½ tbsp Dijon mustard. 1tbsp white wine vinegar. 1 lemon (juiced). 2 egg yolks. ½ large white onion. 1 clove of garlic. Pinch of Italian seasoning. Good pinch of sea salt. Olive oil. Blend together. Gremolata Parsley, 2 fat garlic cloves. Grated rind of a lemon Rub over fish and leave for an hour.
Ultimate Meat rub . 4 tbsp dark brown sugar. 4 tbsp smoked paprika. 1 tbsp Sea salt. 1 tbsp ground black pepper. 2 tsp garlic powder. 2 tsp onion powder. 1 tsp cumin. 1 tsp ground coriander. 1 tsp cayenne pepper Combine all spices and herbs in a bowl and mix very well. Dry rub can be used right away or stored for up to 6 months. To use: spread mixed dry rub in a rimmed baking sheet or a large bowl. Add meat and generously rub it all over with the dry rub, To store: Use a zip-lock freezer bag and store it in the freezer. Get as much air out of the bag as you can before sealing it.
I hope you are enjoying our recipes. Any questions, comments, or requests please feel free to contact me at: stotfoldchef@gmail.com

Third Stotfold Brownies
Our amazing Brownies!
While people all over the country are struggling in this time of crisis, I wanted to let you know that all the members of the Girlguiding community nationally and locally are also doing their very best. In particular, I wanted to let you know about our particular Brownie pack, who are doing whatever they can to help, whilst at home from school. They have made rainbows to put in their windows and been out clapping in support of the NHS. The brownies have also sent letters of friendliness to cheer up their neighbours, and been out collecting litter during their daily exercise. Many of the brownies have also been independently raising money for different charities , such as NHS Charities Together and Macmillan Cancer nurses.
We have mostly kept in touch with each other via a Facebook group, completing parts of the Brownie programme, fun activities, and sending messages of support. All this while trying to keep up with an awful lot of work sent out from schools, and not being able to see their friends, other than on video calls, and projects to complete for those changing schools in Home Use Sunbed Hire September! Stotfold Football Club At the time of writing, the management are looking to restart training in the middle of July with the FA guidelines being followed to keep everyone safe. We still do not know when the grassroots football season will start but have already been told that local cup competitions will not be sanctioned for season 20/21. All we can do is to try and be ready once we get the go ahead to restart.
Like other organisations the football club relies solely on volunteers to provide a good level of local football and going forward we require people to help us in the following positions: a Commercial Manager, a Media Officer (someone proficient in using social media would be a real asset), and additional people to help man the turnstiles, steward matches and serve refreshments during matches. If you feel that you can spare a few hours a week and could fill any of these roles, and join our “football family”, please contact the Chairman Phil Pateman on 07825 133344 or email us on the address below. Following the merger with the Junior Club and our brand-new facility in Arlesey Road these are exciting times for the club, but we need your help for us to reach our goal of progression for all teams going forward.

Methodist Church
Hello from Stotfold Methodist Church! Although you won't find us there just yet. We’re carrying on with online Sunday services (https://www.stevenagemethodist-hs.co.uk/echurch-sunday-service.)
Conditions treated include spinal and extremity injuries, neck related headaches and sprains/strains.
We are NOW OPEN Our revised opening hours: Tues: 2pm-7pm Wed: 10am-1pm Thursday: 3pm-7pm Friday: 10am - 1pm Saturday: 10am-2pm
We are look forward to the day when everyone can safely meet up physically. But that's not easy, as businesses and other organisations have discovered, getting their risk assessments and action plans implemented so that people feel protected from the risk of spreading the Coronavirus. The churches are currently going through the same processes. Lots of places are opening but we all have to live under the necessary restrictions for the sake of our health and our neighbours’ health.
Some of you reading this are also having to deal with bereavement, infirmity or job loss or future uncertainty, things that we're regularly praying about, asking for God's help. The Methodist Church has asked each church to think about the lessons we've learned whilst not meeting at church buildings. They're getting us to work out whether we should be doing the same things in the future, or whether the crisis has shown us that other things are more important. I think that's true for lots of people, whether in church or not. There's no return to the way things were. The only way is forward. Even though there's a lot we don't have control over, at least we can decide how we react to the choices we are giving. God help us all in the unknown of the coming months to make use of the good things we've learned. Revd Graham Claydon-Knights, Minister, Stotfold Methodist Church. 07340857386
