News from Poppies & Poppyfields Nursery

As warmer weather approaches, we are loving life outdoors! Children are enjoying free-play in our gardens, counting birds and bugs, and looking at life cycles of animals. We have had great fun looking at colours and how to change them by blending, separating and mixing. We have also been exercising! Lots of running, jumping, climbing, crawling which is good practice for our sports day in June at Poppies! Our value ‘courage’ has inspired our young athletes to try new activities and persevere to gain new skills!

Our Maths Team have provided lovely ideas for children to learn shape and number, including gathering natural items to match number values, collating ‘loose parts’ play into quantities, ‘Walk and Count’ nature trails, children making their own snack while looking at the shapes of the fruit…and lots more inspiring ways to learn the concept of number and shape through play! We have also been preparing for the Platinum Jubilee Festivities!

Our breakfast and after school children have also been making their own snacks, playing with new sports equipment, jubilee activities and fun with paints and crafts!
