Hello Again! This is just the third week Rides! Magazine™ has been in print. A lot has been going on behind the scenes over the past few weeks. From nothing, we’ve created a very significant readership – in a very short period of time. We’re working to further refine our distribution each week. A team of more than a dozen people travel more than 3000 miles each week to deliver the magazine throughout Central & Western PA. As I write this, it’s been just 11 days since our inaugural issue hit the streets. Just off issue number two, a number of our advertisers are beginning to report that they’re seeing results – which was our primary goal. In fact, a few of them have noted some stellar resul ts. One dealer, in particular, sold eight cars as a direct result of their first ad. Seriously. And they noted that many people are bringing the magazine in with them. Considering that this is just the beginning, I believe we’ll have some really happy advertisers in the future. If you’re a dealer, retailer, event organizer or offer a related service, you should really get in touch. Our rates are really good considering the value we deliver. Reader Line Ads and Photo Ads are beginning to come in as well. If you have something to sell, we can help. Line Ads are free. And, we have a great deal on Photo Ads, which print in full color on the glossy stock you’re looking at now. We’ll put your ad in front of tens of thousands of readers! Summer events are heating up. This past weekend, there were things going on everywhere! Thunder in the Valley brought the population of Johnstown up a few notches. Car show season is in full bloom along with plenty of cruise-ins around the region. We had some room to spare this week. So we included photos from the Inaugural Holeshot Rod Run, the 29th Annu al Historic Bellefonte Cruise, and a few of Rides attending the Blair County Antique Auto Club’s weekly cruise-in in Altoona. July will be a busy month. One notable event, The 32nd Annual Last Cruise Invitational Show & Competition in Downtown State College, is happening on Sund ay, July 30. A very nice event to attend, you can stroll along Allen Street and check out two blocks of really nice cars, trucks & bikes. There’s an open cruise after the awards are presented – and a “Crui sin’ Classics Concert” at the State Theatre at 6pm, featuring music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Curre ntly, the Last Cruise Committee is in search of top-notch show vehicles to participate. It’s an invitation-o nly event. You can apply online or send in your application in by mail. There’s no fee to apply – and some nice cash awards await the winners. See the ad in this issue for more information. The event benefits the Centre County Youth Service Bureau – a very worthy cause! We’ll be there. So, we hope to see you there as well. Speaking of car shows, cruise-ins, auctions and such, be sure to send your upcoming events to us at events@ridespa.com. Rain or Shine, the Historic Bellefonte Cruise is always a

017 marks the 29th year for the Historic Bellefonte Cruise. As with just about any event this year, rain has threatened to keep people away. But, as we’ve seen many times in the past, you can’t dampen the enthusiasm for this event. Friday evening, things began with the traditional open cruise downtown. Just before the kickoff at 6pm, a rainstorm hit. But, that didn’t stop the action. Hardcore cruisers, even a few on bikes, made their rounds as onlookers watched from under awnings and balconies. Just as the rain was letting up, looking down South Allegheny Street, a rainbow appeared, letting everyone know that the rest of the evening would not be a washout. A nice crowd gathered on the Diamond in front of the Centre County Courthouse Friday evening for the Sock Hop. A Beach Boys tribute band, “Beach Party Boys”, headlined the live entertainment for the evening. The weather was a bit nicer for Saturday’s car & motorcycle show. As always, there was great turnout (hundreds) of cool cars, trucks and bikes lining the streets of Bellefonte. Participants ranged from locals to folks from hundreds of miles away. By noon, spectators were pouring in steadily. The Victorian architecture of the downtown area provides a perfect backdrop. There are small shops and other places to meander around and explore – including many local eateries. If you’ve never attended this event, you should give it a whirl next year. You’ll be glad you did!

une 25, 2017 - The Holeshot Rod Run is a new event, and it’s something a little different. The organizers wanted to do more than just have a static event like car show or cruise-in. They wanted to get a large group hotrodders together and actually drive their cars and trucks. 86 hotrods participated in the inaugural run. Not bad for a new event. The day started (and ended) in Historic Downtown Windber at the Cambria Township Recreation Park. After the general welcome and National Anthem, it was soon time to hit the road. Included in the activities was a (slow!) lap around Jennerstown Speedway along with some burnouts in the infield. A $10 donation entitled participants to free admission to the WAVE Sock Hop at Winber Rec Park. The fun continued with a Pinup Contest, Dancing and much more. This event is sure to grow. So, don’t miss out next year!
