REKTORS SIDE

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
The sky was starting to get tinted in pinks and lavender purples. There were few clouds and the sun had set long ago. Dean had long lost track of time, and just laid on the cool, hard surface of the ground. The grass tickled him on the back, and the subtle breeze caressed his cold cheeks as he rested beside his true love. He closed his eyes, trying to stop his train of thoughts, but it was too late; the wagons were already emerging from the tunnel of his mind. Did she remember that summer evening when they were by the beach, watching the sun set behind the dark turquoise horizon? How about the white foam, hitting their bare feet as they walked hand in hand by the coast, whispering sweet nothings to one another? Did she remember their first kiss that they shared the first New Year they spent together? He certainly could not forget the sweet taste of their kiss. They had eaten a chocolate fondant just before receiving New Year, and when they finally got to share their first kiss, the aftertaste of chocolate naturally lingered on her lips. PULTEPOSTEN

How about the time when he asked her to ride a rollercoaster? He promised that everything would be fine, as long as she held onto his hand; and so she did. When the ride came to an end, she stumbled out from the carriage with a green, tear-stained face. He had to guide her to the bathroom where she puked to her hearts content. He was deeply sorry and apologised for having the stupid idea of riding a rollercoaster. Every morning was a delight for him, as she would send him endearing ‘good morning’messages on the cell phone. She was a truly beautiful girl who enjoyed living with an optimistic mind-set he could never have. Her existence was a breath of fresh air that gave sense and purpose to his life, and her love was an everlasting spring with never withering leaves that made him feel like a blessed creature. A sudden cluster of emotions emerged from his fragile heart that made his breath heavy. He quickly sat up from the grass, stretching his arm out and placing a hand over his beloved one. It was a rough and callous touch. Why would she blow out her own light? “Well, too many stars have gone and they are still in the night sky,” Dean spoke out in the twilight; the sky was now painted in different shades of purple and blue. It had started to get dark, but at least the gleaming stars and moon consoled his heart. He let out a deep sigh, yet smiled a sombre smile. He fixed carefully the flowers that he brought her, lit up a candle, and prayed in silence for her rest by her grave, while whispering: “Happy Birthday.”

The Myths about Condora Av Jakob K Ottesen 9A
I slowly woke up and I could not believe what I saw. Everything was true. The myths about Condora were actually revealed to be true. Let me explain… I’m a fourteen years old boy named Felix with dark hair, brown eyes and a lot of positive energy. I live in a small village together with my family and about thirty-six other families. Our village is made up of medium sized houses made of wood, farms and enclosures for our animals; containing cows, sheep, pigs and hens. I woke up and as usual I came down to an already finish covered breakfast table. I ate all I could of stuffed eggs, crisp bacon and bread. After breakfast I went to “the old and wise wizard”. His real name is Esowras, but everyone just calls him wizard. He is an old man with long white hair and tired eyes. He is wearing a dark blue robe, a pair of black, old stylish shoes and he lives deep inside of the Ember woods, which is placed about fifteen minutes of walking away from our village. Twice a week I use to visit him for learning about the people of our village’s discoveries and about nature phenomenon and actions. Today I was supposed to go to him so I started to walk into the Ember woods. As I was walking I noticed, for the first time in a while all the beautiful details in the woods. Like the giant leather-brown nut trees and all the light-green bushes filled with flowers and fruits. When I came to the Esowras’ house, which by the way was placed inside a huge oak tree, he stood outside and watered his garden filled with unique plants. He quickly spotted me and we went inside the massive door. PULTEPOSTEN

“Today I have something very important to tell you Felix. Something I knew would be an upcoming topic for a long time.” “Yes? What’s that sir?” “Our village… it is about to get attacked by the Anarchy clan.” “Well master, what should we do? I mean, what can we do?” “There is only one way to defeat them, rather one place to defeat them and that is Condora.” “Condora?” “Yes, Condora is a magical world filled with unique powers. If we want to defeat the Anarchies we have to find the “Bamron”stone in Condora. That’s the only way.” “Bamron-stone? Condora? Do you have a plan? Are you sure it’s gonna work? What do you want to do?” “Felix, 296C.” I went the entire day thinking about two things: Esowras’ messages, and how to in a normal reality defeat the Anarchies in the upcoming battle, but nothing. Not a single idea or plan. I got so tired that I just jumped into bed and fell asleep. I slowly woke up and I could not believe what I saw. Everything was true. The myths about Condora were actually revealed to be true. I did not wake up in my room, a casual room or any room at all, but in a forest, dark and mystic. It was illuminated in different colours and patterns and you could almost feel the magic forces. After staying there for a bit and exploring the different behaviours of the plants I found a door. A big door made of cobblestone. The moment before I got to touch it a big light just flashed from APRIL 2017
nowhere, and I was back in my village again. I ran as fast as I could to Esowras’ house. There I told him all about my thoughts about the expedition to Condora. He told me that I was sent to Condora because the universe felt unrest in the humans’ balance and living. He said the universe wanted me to prevent a war. Esowras carefully gave me a potion and said: “Felix, this potion is made so that you can experience the same conditions as last night. This will most likely send you back to Condora because of similarities in the timeline and in your body.” He gave me the light-blue potion that I drank all up, as well as with some more precise description of what to do inside of Condora. I then went to bed so that the potion could work. Whiis, whoos, whoooo. It worked. I woke up in the forest of Condora and I automatically spotted the big stone door, which I started to walk toward. Beside the door there was placed a bucket with yellow paint. I slowly grabbed the paintbrush, dipped it in paint and wrote 296C on the door’s upper area. During the paint’s solidification the cobblestone cracked into multiple little pieces and a passage appeared. I carefully climbed trough the passage and on the other side of the door it was deployed thirty-six tables. Each of the tables housed a different stone with a different look and probably a different power. I remembered Esowras ones talking about that family is our army and they decide destiny. I then thought of the tables and the families. We were just as many families in our village as there were tables in the hall of Condora. Since me and my family were the ninth family to ever join our village I went slowly to the ninth table, picked up the stone and hid it in my pocket. Whiis, whoos, whoooo. I was, aspreviously returned to my village. I ran PULTEPOSTEN

out of my room, out of my house to get my eyes on the terrible nightmare. There was Anarchies everywhere. They had started the attack, but since I had found the Bamronstone, the most of them were already dead. Others were just hurt, but yet not dead, and right before the last Anarchy-man died he hit Esowras trough his chest with a sword. Both fell; the Anarchy dying on the ground, and Esowras dying in my arms. The last thing he managed to say before he died was –“Live in the present and take care of your people”. The wizard’s boots got transported from his feet to mine in the very moment he died. I could feel a rising anger, but also power and force, which only could be explained by me being his real apprentice.
After Esowras died the entire village made a statue and place of honour in our village’s centre. On top of his cemetery we placed the Bamron-stone, which was green to symbolise hope and luck. His place of honour became a symbol of protection for our village. APRIL 2017
SKOLEPRESTENS SIDE
‘Encounter’ Retreats
6 - 10th February students from St. Paul skole have been taking part in a retreat programme led by visitors from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Father Stephen Reilly, who holds the post of Coordinator of Spirititual and Pastoral Formation, was joined by John and Rachel - two student teachers of Religious Education. The theme throughout the week’s retreat focused on ‘Encounter.’ The students of St. Paul’s were ‘encountering’ the visitors from Scotland, and each other, while learning about encounters with Jesus from the Holy Scriptures. Each year group experienced different retreat days led by our visitors. The following highlights some of the activities the young people were involved in. Monday - VG2 The focus of the day was the encounter between St Paul and the Risen Jesus. Students started the day with a team-building exercise where they had to build the tallest structure using only spaghetti and marshmallows. Then, everyone experienced a guided meditation taken from the scripture passage of the conversion of St Paul. In addition, students were given the opportunity to think about and discuss issues in the world today. The idea behind this was that the world may have turned blind to such issues as these, and the students were asked to provide examples of how the global community can help in overcoming problematic issues. Tuesday - VG3 On Tuesday, students from VG3 focused on the encounter between the Risen Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Students began with a quiz that required them to ‘encounter’ each other. The object of the quiz was to find out specific information about members of the group, along with some humorous questions - such as ”who would make the worst politician?’’ Following a reflection upon the scripture passage, the group understood that Mary was treated unequally because she was a woman, however, Jesus had overcome this by appearing to Mary Magdalene first. Then, the group examined how Pope Francis had set a good example of reaching out to those on the outside of society during the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Moving on, PULTEPOSTEN

the group worked on a decorative art task, explaining how they could ‘build bridges’ today and what qualities are needed to do so. Students then wrote down anything they wished to be prayed for at Thursday’s Mass on a ‘Prayer Request Card’. Wednesday - Year 9 The encounter of the ‘Calling of the Disciples’ by Jesus was explored by Year 9 on Wednesday. Students were required to demonstrate that they could communicate with each other under timed-conditions by arranging the whole group in order of height and then by date of their birth. Afterwards, the students listened to the scripture passage of the ‘Calling of the Disciples’ through meditation and had then created a ‘Facebook’ profile page for Jesus Christ. The students were asked to include what Jesus would be looking for from a disciple today. The outcome of this task was hugely successful - alongside some great responses were very funny ideas, such as a ‘Scottish Jesus’ wearing a kilt! To end the day, pupils took part in an art task, which involved creating ‘prayer fish’ for Thursday’s Mass. Thursday - Year 8 Students of Year 8 were giving their attention to the encounter between the risen Jesus and the disciples on the road to Emmaus. During a guided meditation upon the scripture passage, students were given silent time in order to use their imagination, visualising the scene as if they were truly present. After this, students played a ‘detective’ game. The game involved students trying to solve a problem, just as the disciples had solved the problem of understanding who the man was that they had met on the road - Jesus! Students then went on to create a postcard, where they were imagining that they were one of the disciples writing to a family member or friend to tell them of the encounter. To bring the day to a close, pupils dedicated prayers to the Mass in the afternoon. Thursday- Mass On Thursday afternoon, all students and staff attended Mass, celebrated by Dom Lukas and Father Stephen. Students from St. Paul skole provided beautiful music, read the Mass readings and dedicated their prayer intentions to all. Thanks were given to our Scottish visitors and St. Paul’s students for their work throughout the week. Friday- Year 10 The final retreat of the week centred around three different encounters with Jesus from the Gospels, as the students focused on the question: who is Jesus? The group undertook a meditation upon the narrative of the ‘Calming of the Storm’ by Jesus, and reflected upon the story of the healing of the man who was born blind. Students proceeded to watch an amusing short video of people playing ‘binocular football’, where the participants could not see. Feeling confident in their own abilities, the students went outside to play their own version of binocular football and basketball. Leading on from this, pupils explored the narrative of the ‘Feeding of the Multitude’ and had written ‘hashtags’, which answered the question posed at the start of the retreat with their own responses. Their responses were shared on social media, emulating Jesus sharing the bread and fish, demonstrating that what we share can be spread far and wide on the Internet. The morning and afternoon retreat sessions ended with a wonderful prayer experience of Eucharistic Adoration in the Church, led by Father Stephen.
