THE ST PAUL’S EVENTS PROGRAMME

FROM THE HIGH MASTER

St Paul’s Events Programme

SPRING TERM 2018

Promoting a greater sense of community among all the various groups that constitute St Paul’s – pupils, parents, former parents, OPs, friends, staff and governors – is now a major priority. This aim is most likely to be achieved by providing many more opportunities for those groups to engage in activities together.

I hope you will find something here to interest you: if so, we look forward to welcoming you at one or more events. If not, please contact us with a suggestion for the next programme of events!

To this end we are launching this spring the new St Paul’s Community Programme, which presents many opportunities for to share knowledge, to be entertained, to expand professional networks, to engage with others within the school community and even just to have fun. The range of events is very eclectic, and we intend the programme to be a major feature of the life of the school from now on.

Prof Mark Bailey High Master

WELCOME

SPRING TERM 2018

A warm welcome to the St Paul’s Community Programme for the Spring term. As we launch into 2018, we are delighted to bring you an exciting, new programme which sets out a feast of interesting, creative and thought-provoking activities that you are invited to take part in this term.

School activity, of course, goes much further than what is included in this brochure so please do look out for our monthly ‘What’s On’ emails which will include more activities that you can get involved in. If you are not sure whether your email address is up to date, email community@stpaulsschool.org.uk and we will ensure you are on the mailing list.

As the St Paul’s Community/External Relations team, our aim is to bring you opportunities to engage with one another and the School through social, professional, cultural and educational activities and so create a thriving school community for all.

We look forward to seeing you at one of the many events across the Spring term.

This booklet showcases the immense talent, knowledge and support found across our entire community, with many events being organised by parents, former parents, Old Paulines and staff. If you would like to find out more ways in which you can support the programme or have ideas for events you would like to see introduced do get in touch.

The aim of the charity is to support young people to make safe choices about drugs, and they are now working with students, teachers and parents/carers in more than 130 schools across London and the South of England. The world for young people is a very different place than it was for their parents, including their vulnerability to risk from drugs and alcohol, and this talk provides a great opportunity for you as a parent or carer to become more aware of what issues face your children, and what you can do to help them stay safe.

OLD PAULINE CLUB When pupils leave St Paul’s they automatically become Old Paulines, joining a 10,000 strong alumni community that includes leaders from every field of work. The Old Pauline Club was founded in 1872 by an association of old boys wishing to continue playing rugby together after leaving school. Since then, the Club has grown and diversified and now reflects the wide range of interests of current members. Recalling the founding of the Club, ‘One of them, impressed by the fact that a friend, especially an old school friend, is one of the best things in life, argued that opportunities for meeting together, other than in the football season, ought to be considered and that, in time, one was likely to become too old for football or rowing and only fit to dine!’. Today the alumni community certainly enjoys dining together, but with our thriving social and business networks now supporting and connecting Old Paulines there are many other ways in which OPs can enjoy keeping in touch.
