Our learning journey has taken us to the incredible country of Mexico this week!

We enjoyed exploring the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza and the fascinating Kukulcan pyramid (also known as El Castillo). We discovered that the pyramid has 365 steps leading up to a temple and was dedicated to the Mayan snake god, Kakulkan.

After learning that Chichen Itza became one of the Seven New Wonders of the World in 2007, we were interested to find out more about the other 6 New Wonders of the World. This led us to create an information page to teach others about these amazing man-made buildings around the world.

To celebrate International Women’s Day on Thursday, we learnt about the talented and inspiring Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. We used her painting ‘The Frame’ to inspire our own self-portrait and enjoyed using watercolours and oil pastels to create our own masterpieces!
