We are in the full swing of summer and loving the hot sunny weather. With summer holidays around the corner, we enjoyed going on a beach summer holiday this week. We had a mini beach in the classroom and we used the sand in many interesting ways.
The Acorns made and served delicious 'shaving cream' ice creams. It was great fun and the 'ice cream' ended up, not only on the scoops, but all over their little hands. With so much interest in the ice creams, we made 'ice cream' paintings and had to take the opportunity to enjoy a real ice cream in the cool shade under the trees one hot afternoon.
Mrs Hayden prepared a fantastic music lesson for the Acorns this week. It was the first time the Acorns could play on the xylophones. With three musical tones, "daddy, mommy and baby", the children played a song altogether. Everyone participated and listened beautifully.
Another highlight of the week was Transition Day. The Acrons spent a wonderful afternoon exploring the Conkers classroom and meeting their lovely new teachers. The mezzanine play area was a hit and there were so many exciting new toys to play with. The Acorns are beginning to feel very excited about moving up to become Conkers next year.
