Four programs in Doane University’s College of Business received initial accreditation in mid-May from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), a global business education accrediting body. The accredited programs are Accounting, Agribusiness, Business Administration and the Master of Business Administration.

“We closely referenced ACBSP’s best practices when the College of Business was founded five years ago, and those best practices are applied to all programs across the board,” said Dr. Jennifer Bossard, dean of the College of Business and professor of economics.

Accreditation brings several benefits to Doane as an institution and to its students and faculty. Employers are able to tell at a glance that graduates have received a rigorous education and skills and knowledge needed by contemporary businesses. For students, it helps set Doane apart among other institutions, and tuition reimbursement from employers may be more readily available for accredited programs.

“A major benefit of having accreditation through the ACBSP is the networking opportunities. We’re able to see how other faculty and institutions are addressing changes, challenges and opportunities,” said Tracy Corr, assistant professor of practice and co-chair of Doane’s Accounting Department. For example, determining the role of AI in business education.

Doane University is the oldest private, liberal arts institution in higher education in Nebraska. Programs in the university’s College of Business are offered in Crete, Lincoln and online. For more information about Doane’s College of Business and the accredited programs, visit doane.edu.

Gitzy Loder INSPIRED RESULTS CONSULTING

Meet Gitzy Loder, Team and Leadership Facilitator & Coach at Inspired Results Consulting.

Tell us a little about your business. - Inspired Results Consulting is a team and leadership development organization focused on coaching ambitious teams, leaders and high-achieving executives who are ready to take their results to the next level. We guide people to gain better focus & clarity in alignment with their values and goals so that they can communicate more effectively, get on the same page, embrace change and improve productivity for peak performance.

How did you get started in the business? - My goal on a broader level has always been to help people. It’s all about people for me. After a career in Sales and Business Development for over 20 years, it was my job to seek out people’s pains, problems and needs to help them find a solution. So after investing in my own growth, development and training, I became passionate about serving others at another level through Team and Leadership Development. So often, individuals, teams and companies get “stuck” or have to navigate change and just don’t know how to. My life has presented me with many opportunities to develop the skills of adapting and pivoting. When a person or group can get out of their own way and lead themselves in a new way it can literally improve the quality of their work and life. This is my passion.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - If I were to reflect on this, jumping into entrepreneurship, after having worked for companies my whole life, was more challenging than I had expected. I have been required to think completely differently as an entrepreneur.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? - Professionally, the ability to work with organizations and their teams are my most important achievements that are continuous & rewarding. The ability to guide others to create healthy paradigm shifts within employees, leaders and companies as a whole is powerful work! We have so many success stories of individuals who have improved not just at work but also elevated their personal lives because as we know, you take yourself wherever you go. This work is holistic - our client’s success is our success.

Tell us a little about your family. - Being first generation with parents from Chile, most of our family was in South America so we just had our immediate family while we were being raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. My sisters and I were raised by a strong mother who worked very hard to provide opportunities that would help us succeed in life. I now have two children of my own and love that my kids are able to have a relationship with their grandmother and aunts!

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - My favorite quote is “Both faith and fear demand that you believe in something you cannot see. You get to choose.”

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) We all have somehow been connected to someone that is going through, has survived or passed due to cancer. Their mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

HAYLEY

Meet Hayley Hemminger, Recruiter at Centris Federal Credit Union.

Tell us a little about your business. - Centris Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial organization that is centered on the experience of providing exceptional service and affordable products for our members! Our mission is to be your trusted life long financial partner.

How did you get started in the business? - I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. I spent a few years developing my recruitment skills in the IT Staffing world before transitioning into a Corporate Recruiter position.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - The biggest challenge I face in my profession is the talent shortage that is currently impacting everyone but is certainly felt here in Nebraska where we have the lowest unemployment rate. There is a fierce competition for talent that is amplified by concerns of “brain drain” in Nebraska where many of our skilled workforce are seeking opportunities outside of the state.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? - The greatest achievements in my career are the moments where I know I am hiring the perfect person for an opportunity, and that they will be equally excited about the position. In recruitment it’s not just a matter of finding the right technical or skills match to a job, but finding that right culture fit for the organization and team as well!

Tell us a little about your family. - I have a wonderful husband who works in the IT space, and we have two incredible dogs that keep us busy and our hearts full!

Who inspires you? - My husband. He is the hardest working person I know and is a jack of all trades because of his passion to continue to learn and teach himself how to do a hundred different things. He inspires me to always be the best person I can be and continue to push myself in my career.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - “We Can Do Hard Things” is my favorite quote that I tell myself anytime the going gets rough. It’s a good reminder that we are capable of much more than we might give ourselves credit for, and to keep moving forward.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? - Kind.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? - To talk to my dogs and have them be able to talk back!

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - The Nebraska Humane Society is very near and dear to my heart as I have two amazing adopted pups that keep life entertaining! NHS provides such a great resource to the Nebraska community at large and does incredible work.

What is your favorite movie? - Any Studio Ghibli film! The animation and story line are always incredibly well done and have become such classic films for animation fans.

What is your favorite local Omaha restaurant? - Mouth of the South!

ALEX

Meet Alex Flamme, Mechanical Engineer at Huffman Engineering, Inc.

Tell us a little about your business. - Huffman Engineering, Inc. is an engineering firm that specializes in control system integration. We work with industrial customers with just about any manufacturing process, and we work with utility customers with water and wastewater needs.

How did you get started in the business? - Our engineering manager called out, “Mechanical Engineer?”, at a career fair my senior year of college as I was walking past. I probably wasn’t going to stop, but no one had directly tried to get my attention like that. I ended up interning with Huffman the last semester of my senior year and went on full time after graduation.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - The biggest challenge I’ve faced is getting out of my comfort zone. I know I’ve done a lot of growing at Huffman and it’s because they so skillfully allowed me to work on the hard things while having the support I needed available if I got stuck.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? - I have synesthesia. This is my go-to fun fact. There are a lot of different types of synesthesia, but I visualize time. If I have a meeting tomorrow at 2pm, I see that in my mind. A week is sort of a slanted rectangle with the Saturday and Sunday to the right of the weekdays. If I think about a year I see it on a horizontal line that has a page break for the turn of the century and darkens the farther back you go. The best is the months in a year. I know I developed it from a caterpillar layout my 2nd grade teacher had on the wall. It’s an oval with January starting on the left side. If you think I’m crazy, I want you to know it was a shock to find out people don’t visualize time.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - Something I try to remind myself of a lot is the quote "The only thing in life that stands between you and everything you've ever wanted to do… is doing it." I have a lot of goals that I haven’t made progress on, so I try to use this quote as a reminder to not make excuses. I’m sure a lot of people have said something like this, but I got this one from the Youtuber, Casey Neistat.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? - I can see myself being successful as a teacher. My parents were intentional in letting my brother and I make our own career path decisions, but my mom did always say she thought I’d make a good Principal. And I kind of think she is right.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - My husband and I are involved in Special Olympics. Our team, the Nebraska Aviators, competes in bowling, track and basketball. I’ve only been involved for three years, but it’s been awesome to see how the athletes have developed in that time (and how much better at basketball they are than me).

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? - One book I read in the last year that I would recommend is Jet Girl: My Life in War, Peace, and the Cockpit of the Navy's Most Lethal Aircraft by Caroline Johnson. I actually listened to it as an audiobook that was read by the author. It is a good read for any woman in a career historically or currently dominated by men, and it is just plain interesting to hear about the life of a pilot.

AMANDA

Meet Amanda Garvey, Design Consultant and Warranty Specialist at McKean’s Floor to Ceiling.

Tell us a little about your business. - We are a family owed company since 1962. We specialize in new home construction and remodeling. We provide homeowners with one on one attention with making their dreams come to reality. As a design consultant my job is to help our homeowners pick out tile, countertops, carpet and such and help them put their vision to reality.

How did you get started in the business? - I was introduced to the company by my ex-husband who had worked for McKean’s for many years and they needed help in the office, so here I am. I had never been in this type of industry before but I was ready for the challenge.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?Every day is a challenge in my career. We have so many people we work with daily and every person has a different style, different taste, different everything of what they are wanting. It is my job to figure them out in a short amount of time and execute the job and visualize what they are wanting. It is my job to correctly write it down and make sure that it gets installed the way the homeowner was visualizing as well.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

- Every day is an achievement, again you learn something new every day. I constantly strive to land more builder or more remodels. Connect with realtors, connect with homeowners, make sure they leave happy when they walk out the front door.

Tell us a little about your family. - I am a mom to three boys, Rylee (17), Owen (10) and Bentlee (two). They are all extremely active and I am always on the go with sports and juggling multiple schedules.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?

- Before I got married in 2020, I was in an extremely low point in my life and when I got pregnant with my last son I decided it was time for a change. I didn’t want him to go through what his brothers did. I decided at that moment I was going to change my whole outlook on life and make sure I was present for EVERYTHING no matter what. I wake up everyday and try to think positively. Being negative gets you nowhere.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? - I absolutely hate hotdogs on the grill and hamburgers haha most people think I am weird because of it. I like them, just not cooked on the grill.

Who inspires you? - My children. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for them. I strive to be a better version of myself every day for them. They deserve the best mother, and I will do whatever I have to do to make that happen.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - I just recently got involved with ALS in the Heartland and love what the team over there do to help those who are getting diagnosed with this terrible disease. I threw a golf benefit on behalf of McKean’s back in May and we donated all the proceeds to ALS in the Heartland. I am hoping to team up with them moving forward and help raise money every year to help them and their clients.

BUF

Buf Reynolds Sechser OMAHA FASHION WEEK

Meet Buf Reynolds Sechser, the Producer at Omaha Fashion Week.

Tell us a little about your business. - Omaha Fashion Week (OFW) began in 2008 as an event held in the heart of the Old Market for 2,000 people. It has grown to become the fourth largest organized fashion week event in the country, and the first to make show participation completely free of charge for designers.

How did you get started in the business? - I began as a fashion designer. A few friends and I wanted to show our work and decided to start putting on our own fashion shows. We were creating collections, finding venues, promoting, executing- just completely producing our shows and it was so much work. Nick Hudson took notice and decided to take on the production side of it all so that designers could focus on creating their art. Being involved with OFW since it began, designers would ask me questions all the time. As the business grew, Nick and Brook needed someone to be the person to help designers go through the process and that was where I began. They tapped me to be that person and I have just kept growing with it. Designing will take a backseat for a while, but who knows... maybe I will get wild in the next couple years and do another collection!

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - The biggest challenge I have faced has been burnout. There is a fine line between trying to be creative, fresh and relevant and then trying to pay the bills. That line can draw a lot of criticism from all sides. Trying to balance everything is mentally, physically and creatively taxing and will leave me drained. I had to step away from everything for a while to reevaluate what I really wanted to be doing and what my path was. I am lucky to be surrounded by so much support.

Tell us a little about your family. - I have been married to James Sechser since 2015 and I am lucky enough to claim his boys as my sons, too. Oliver is 16 and Zachary is 20, and both are equally funny and far too cool for James and me.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - There have been so many turning points! Each one has been more important than the last and I know that there will be many in the future too. The flow chart of my life would look ridiculous, I am sure. Most recently, I chose to take on the role of Producer for Omaha Fashion Week. After being a major part of the team for so long, I took a step back for a while and came back reenergized and ready to move the beast forward.

Who inspires you? - Creatively, there are tons of local designers, artists and leaders who blow me away with what they do. I feel like I have been surrounded by amazing humans my whole life. I have always had an amazing group of women who showed me how to navigate life to accomplish what I want. I watched my parents work so hard and they continue to inspire me to keep going.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - I love Joslyn’s Kent Bellows Mentoring Program. I was a mentor for many years and I love seeing the creativity that comes from the students. I wish something like that existed when I was a teen. And the Fashion Arts Collective, there is a workroom for designers, supplies and educational opportunities- all for free.

JennieEdmundsonFoundationtoHonorSpirit of Courage Recipients in August

Since 2003, the Jennie Edmundson Foundation Spirit of Courage event has raised over $2 million to support our cancer patients. Saturday, August 3 marks the date for the 2024 Spirit of Courage Celebrity Weekend celebration held at the Mid-America Center. Each year they celebrate and honor four individuals who join them to share their remarkable stories of courage during their battle with cancer. This year they are honoring four amazing individuals at our 2024 event–Travis Meier, Kathy Runde, Terry Thomas and Stacia Thompson.

On Saturday, August 3 they kick off our Spirit of Courage weekend with a golf tournament at Dodge Riverside Golf Club at 8:00 a.m. That evening is celebrated with a gala beginning at 6:00 p.m.; dinner and opening remarks at 7:00 p.m. followed by the introductions of their distinguished guests as they share their incredible stories. The net proceeds from the events go to the Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital—Spirit of Courage Cancer Charitable Patient Care Fund through the Jennie Edmundson Foundation. The funds raised are crucial in providing financial support in helping cancer patients who face financial challenges. These funds help meet their needs as they progress through their treatments. Thanks to the generosity of their donors, we can assist patients in paying for medications, treatments and deductibles as well as everyday living expenses such as groceries, rent and gas.

Join them for an exciting, fun weekend that includes golfing with a celebrity, an evening filed with a wine pull, silent and oral auctions and delicious food with family and friends. Sign up now for the golf tournament and purchase your tickets to the gala by visiting jehfoundation.org, or by calling (712) 396-6040.

Childhood cancer families from across the state gathered at Lied Lodge in Nebraska City at the end of May for a family overnight experience. Families received a free overnight stay at the Lied Lodge, free admission to all the attractions at Arbor Day Farm and had several opportunities throughout the weekend to mingle with each other and build community with other families experiencing childhood cancer.

“This event is a great opportunity for families to get away from the everyday stresses that come with a childhood cancer diagnosis. The kids got to just be kids for a while and parents were able to connect with other parents who have walked a similar path as them. It was great to see so many smiles and community being built throughout the entire weekend,” said Brittany Friesen, Director of Family Programs at Angels Among Us.

This event was made possible by generous support from The Kelley Group, Hausmann Construction and an anonymous friend of Angels Among Us.

Angels Among Us is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide financial and emotional support to any family whose child is battling pediatric cancer living in or being treated in the state of Nebraska. Project Harmony is Celebrating National Be Someone Day

Founded by Project Harmony, on Sunday, July 21, National Be Someone Day challenges everyone to take 10 seconds to make a difference in the life of a child.

There are so many things that can be done in 10 seconds. You can order a cup of coffee or water a plant. You can hear or tell someone a bad joke. In 10 seconds, you can change your mind and then offer a prayer of thanks. When you walk into a room, in that time, you can register the pain in someone’s face and begin to provide comfort. You can praise and honor someone who deserves it.

“At Project Harmony, we believe that all children are someone,” says Project Harmony Senior Director of Communications Angela Roeber. “And, all adults can be someone to a child. All it takes is the commitment to stop the cycle of child abuse. On National Be Someone Day, take the pledge to be the person to make a difference in a child’s life. Most importantly, be someone prepared to report when a child trusts you enough to tell you they’ve been hurt.”

Project Harmony founded National Be Someone Day to help end child abuse and bring communities together through education and awareness. To participate, drop off a donation at Project Harmony on Sunday, July 21, between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Take the pledge on National Be Someone Day which you can find at projectbesomeone.org and use the #BeSomeoneDay to share on social media. American Heart Association Celebrates 100 Years of Impact

The American Heart Association (AHA) is elated to celebrate 100 years of powerful impact, reflecting on the decadeslong contributions made by so many for a variety of circumstances and catastrophes.

From 2020 to 2024

American Heart Association took swift, comprehensive measures to respond quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic–empowering scientists, health care professionals and people in lockdown around the globe. AHA established a $2.5 million rapid-research fund to expedite scientific research focused on understanding how the virus affected the heart and brain, addressing critical health implications and their uncertain consequences. AHA created a Cardiovascular Disease Registry, which allowed hospitals to track and improve the quality of care for those patients with underlying cardiovascular conditions. AHA also collaborated with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to delve into intensive research regarding vaccines and therapies.

As AHA continues to work on developing digital health solutions to assist people at home, emphasizing the importance and education of remote health care and monitoring, they continue to strive for intentional commitment to evidence-based and proactive research and solutions. Now, AHA is studying the role of cardiovascular kidneymetabolic health in overall well-being. AHA is also committed to the Food is Medicine Initiative, which encourages health care providers to prescribe healthy food to prevent and manage chronic diseases.

From the laboratory to the grocery store and beyond, AHA hopes to advance the health and hope of everyone. Guided by science, AHA looks forward to serving its many communities for another 100 innovative years. For more on AHA, visit heart.org.

Mosaic in Omaha Celebrates Inclusion with Annual Picnic

Blood and Platelet Donors Needed Now

The American Red Cross critically needs blood and platelet donors now following a concerning decrease in donations as the country has experience an increase in severe weather systems and historical travel. Over the past month, about 20,000 fewer donations were collected than needed to maintain the Red Cross national blood supply.

With the dramatic increase in travel comes an increase in autorelated accidents and your donation could mean that hospitals have life-saving blood products on hand for all the trauma and accident victims who count on transfusions when there is no time to waste.

“Emergencies take many forms – some arising in a hospital and others arising as relentless and devastating storms,” said Jill Orton, regional executive of the Red Cross Nebraska-Iowa Region. “Unfortunately, our community has been no stranger to emergencies these past several weeks, but when I witness our communities come together – at a blood drive or after a disaster – I see us growing stronger. Together, we can provide help and hope that is very much needed right now.”

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood and teaches skills that save lives. The Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to deliver its mission. For more information, please visit redcross. org or CruzRojaAmericana.org.

Kirk Whalum to Headline the Omaha Jazz Experience on July 20

Imagine what life would be like always on the outside looking in, never feeling included in daily activities, fun events or getting to live the life of which one dreamed? This is what Mosaic strives to combat each and every day for the individuals in their services who live with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Mosaic in Omaha’s Inclusion Matters Picnic, held annually in May at Carol Joy Holling Camp in Ashland, provides ways for those with diverse needs to feel included and enjoy the outdoors, along with many other fun activities. Mark your calendars for an unforgettable night of jazz at the Omaha Jazz Experience on Saturday, July 20 at Stinson Park. It's a two for one special: two amazing Grammy artists for the price of one. The amazing 12-time Grammy nominee and Grammy winner, Kirk Whalum, will headline the festival, while two-time Grammy nominee Jonathan Butler will grace the stage right before Whalum. In addition, Omaha's favorite soulful, blues and jazz band, The Toast, will kick off the festivities starting at 5:00 p.m. This event is the annual fundraiser for HALLINS. Donate and/or buy tickets at HALLINSCorp.com, or visit eventbrite. com.

Kirk is known for his sax performances with top artists like Whitney Houston amongst many others. It’s his sax heard on the mega-hit “I Will Always Love You.” In addition to his many solo projects, Kirk was also a member of the popular soul/jazz group, BWB, which features Kirk as the “W” of the group with Rick Braun and Norman Brown. Then, Jonathan Butler is a South African singer-songwriter and guitarist, whose music is often classified as R&B, jazz fusion or worship music. He’s recorded a dozen solo albums, and made more than 25 guest appearance on records. Though he’s been compared to many different jazz guitarists, he shies away from such comparisons calling himself “A singer who plays guitar.”

The mission of HALLINS is to stimulate constructive change in underserved communities through art, music and culture. The corporation provides events in different disciplines of art that enhance the economic viability of disadvantaged neighborhoods. Events include artistic programs, music festivals, student courses, fundraisers and organized community drives.

Educare of Omaha, Inc. School Receives Top Rating in Quality Child Care

Early Learning Center at Skinner, an Educare of Omaha, Inc. school, has been recognized by Nebraska Step Up to Quality for its commitment to quality child care and education, earning Step 5, the highest rating.

Step Up to Quality is the state of Nebraska’s Quality Rating and Improvement System. Programs are awarded quality rating for meeting a defined set of program standards around program administration, child outcomes, professional development and training, family engagement and partnerships, and learning environments and program curriculum. Early Learning Center at Skinner is recognized for routinely demonstrating an exceptional level of high-quality care, and rated highest in compassionate interactions with children.

“We are excited for and proud of the entire ELC at Skinner team,” Executive Director Rafel O. Hart said. “Achieving and retaining a Step 5 rating is a testament to the dedication of our staff to impact the lives of children and families in a positive way.”

With 90 percent of brain development occurring before age five, early childhood education is crucial to a child’s future success. Early learning builds the foundation for skills needed in school, work and life. Studies show that children who receive quality early child care and education are more likely to show improved reading and math skills, attend college and earn higher wages.

“This Step Up to Quality rating validates that Educare of Omaha, Inc. is fulfilling our mission to prepare children and families for success in school and life,” Hart said. “It is something that all our schools strive to achieve each day.”

Educare of Omaha, Inc. serves over 650 infants, toddlers and preschoolers - and their families - each year by providing high-quality, year-round early education at five early learning schools located in North and South Omaha, and also operating a home visiting program. With so many resources at your disposal, creating a comprehensive healthcare plan is neither that hard nor expensive. Offering Braces IN ALL SIZES

Awakin Men’s Health is a provider-owned and operated healthcare practice focused on men’s health. Andrew Wakin believes in being proactive in treating men with erectile dysfunction, testosterone deficiency, low libido, weight management, hair loss and overall health.

Awakin Men’s Health is determined to spread education and healthy lifestyles to men who want to make changes to their current lifestyle, guiding them toward overall stability and longevity. Wakin’s top priority has always been about keeping people aware of their health risks and the ways they can live a healthy lifestyle, leading him to start his own practice where men feel comfortable talking about their health, especially regarding erectile dysfunction, low libido, hormone replacement therapy and weight in a discrete and private telecommunication environment. No one will ever need to make their health journey public.

“My consultations are strictly with me,” says Owner and Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner Andrew Wakin. “I know it’s a sensitive subject, but [my company] provides private follow-up exams and telehealth calls that are usually no more than ten minutes. Ignoring your health problems can cause anxiety, stress and can even leak into your personal life and cause relationship issues.”

Awakin Men’s Health provides many different health screenings including sleep apnea checks; full blood panels where they check cholesterol, thyroid levels, hormone levels and weight issues and walk men through the process of getting better and taking accountability for their health. Wakin wants to

emphasize the importance of reaching out if one has an erectile dysfunction, which can be caused by high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, smoking, certain medications, stress, high cholesterol or even nerve damage. This is an early sign of a possible life-threatening problem.

If you’re experiencing anything discussed here, don’t hesitate to reach out to Andrew directly to talk through the issues you are having. Call (402) 401-4012 or visit awakinmenshealth.com to schedule a consultation.

Summer is here! Having a functional and visually appealing home for all of summer’s fun activities is crucial. It’s the prime time to update air conditioning units, lighting, flooring, paint and outdoor spaces such as decks and patios to brave its host/hostess’s summer events. It’s amazing how much of a difference even the tiniest remodeling project can make!

It can be hard to know where to start or to know when one’s DIY capabilities have reached their max. Thankfully, Omaha is home to some of the best professionals, ready, qualified and experienced to turn any homeowner’s dream into a reality. If residential remodeling still doesn’t seem as appealing as buying a brand new home, Omaha’s professionals will prove that remodeling is possible in any case at any budget.

Elevated Electric

We are committed to delivering exceptional service, ensuring that each and every electrical project goes as smoothly as possible to meet each customer’s unique needs. Our electricians are here to handle any and all electrical needs, from residential and commercial projects to lighting and camera installations. We even do boat lifts! We want to make your remodel or addition as stress-free as possible,” expresses Owner Chris Langer

Need An Electrician?

Customer convenience is a priority for Langer Electric, demonstrating that electrical work does not have to be intimidating. Langer Electric can guarantee that electrical work can in fact be done in a timely and cost-efficient manner, no matter the project.

Client Olivia Kologenski expressed her thoughts on Langer Electric’s work: “We had an excellent experience! The team was fast, kind and did the work really well. We had a new panel installed, and the price was a really good deal. We will definitely have them back to do more work, highly recommend!”

Stylish Stone

Inevitably, some items have to be replaced in order to obtain the dream remodel. Certain expensive changes like flooring, counters and showers can get a fresh look without the messy and stressful process of demolition and replacement thanks to Lifetime Stone Restoration Ceramic tiled floors can get a new look simply by changing the color of the grout. Worn and dirty stone floors can be cleaned, diamond honed (to change a polished floor to a matte or satin finish) or revived back to high shine, transforming worn or damaged floor back to looking great again.

What if one is thinking of new countertops? Putting in a natural stone as opposed to a manufactured product like quartz allows one to have an original and individualized counter, versus one that looks like everyone else's. Natural stones can also be repaired and refinished while manufactured products have limitations to what can be done.

“Tiled showers are the toughest item in the house to keep clean, which makes most people want to completely rip it out,” says Don Mlnarik , owner of Lifetime Stone Restoration. “Luckily, for a fraction of the cost of a replacement, we can make it like new again via a simple re-caulking; mildew, soap and hard water deposit removal or grout color change up!”

Stone is an attractive element to any residential remodel, so why make it more complicated than it needs to be? Let Lifetime Stone Restoration make life easier!

There is no one look for homelessness—and no one way toward homelessness. No matter their circumstances or reason for seeking organizational assistance, Youth Emergency Services (YES) brings Omaha’s youth to a safe space to call their own.

As part of its mission to provide housing and support to youth experiencing instability, crisis, and homelessness, YES strives to help young people, aged 16-24, meet their basic needs—from food security, to hygienic maintenance, to housing and more. Through the agency’s programming pathway, youth are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to become independent and selfsufficient within the community.

1. First, struggling or homeless youth on the streets are identified by YES outreach workers and given bags of snacks and hygiene items. Youth are then also invited to enjoy a warm meal, take a hot shower, and find additional resources at YES’ Street Outreach Center.

2. After proper screening, youth may then be housed at YES’ Emergency Shelter for up to 90 days, where they receive their own bedroom and support from a trained staff member to navigate personal challenges and/or apply to one of YES’ longterm housing programs—Transitional Living Program or Maternity Group Home Program.

3. After completing a long-term housing program, youth can choose to receive an additional 12 month of YES services—now in their own apartment—through the agency’s Transition in Place program.

At the completion of YES’ programming, youth are equipped with the skills and resources they need to survive and thrive on their own in the community. To learn more about YES’ mission and programs, please visit yesomaha.org/youth-resources.

Mosaic in Omaha’s purpose is to “love and serve,” and its mission is to “embrace God’s call to relentlessly pursue opportunities to empower people.” The values woven through our work to serve those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and others with diverse needs are Belonging, Connection, Faithfulness and especially Grit during these challenging times.

“To empower” at Mosaic means helping those we serve achieve their best or most meaningful life by providing truly specialized services to help them achieve their goals and dreams; working with those we serve to have closer ties to the community to open up volunteer and employment opportunities for them; and Mosaic standing alongside those we serve to advocate with and for them to bring awareness to issues that affect their lives and promote public policy that positively impacts them.

This empowerment of people we support ranges from helping someone communicate for the first time to helping another gain enough independence to secure a job and live in their own home. To learn more or to donate, please visit mosaicinfo.org/locations/ nebraska/omaha.

Outlook Enrichment Empowers People With Vision Loss.

Outlook’s mission is to positively impact everyone who is blind or visually impaired.

“As we learned more about people who are blind or have low vision and all the work they do, we found a paycheck alone wasn’t independence. We formed Outlook Enrichment to serve many aspects of their life to help them fulfill their personal and career goals,” says Eric Stueckrath, President and CEO of Outlook.

Outlook Enrichment helps people with vision loss and blindness live life independently while doing the things they love. Outlook Enrichment received a Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics for their effective work.

“We aspire to be the first place people turn to when seeking resources that empower those with vision loss,” said Nina Rongisch, Executive Director of Outlook Enrichment. “We teach independent living skills and offer adaptive recreational and cultural events.”

Supporting Outlook Enrichment’s mission is its Vision Beyond Sight Gala on November 8: outlooken.org/event/2024-gala-visionbeyond-sight.
