I have worked in the wedding industry since 2005, when I opened Taylor’d Events by Jennifer. I have orchestrated numerous weddings and events, in various sizes and complexities. Over the years I’ve met many brides, who, despite having different budgets, traditions and backgrounds, all really want the same thing: to have a wedding to remember and have fun planning it. It’s wonderful to be able to pass along tips and expertise and watch what brides create with the information. And at the same time, I enjoy being part of the big day and ensuring things go as smoothly as possible. I have been helping brides with my organizational skills, humor and lots of coffee; I’m looking forward to working with you to “Taylor” your event.

Wedding Spotlight

Jennifer and In June, Jennifer and Chase got married at the Hope Lutheran Church in West Seattle and had their reception at Sodo Park. The look was romantic, but upto-date. The photography was by Sean Hoyt Photography and floral by Elements in Bloom. I worked with Jennifer and her mother Margaret for over a year to help them from start to finish. It was great to see both Mom and daughter so happy on the big day. Enjoy the pictures.

Engaged!!!

Here is what you need to work on first before talking to vendors. Congratulations, it is an exciting time for you and your fiancĂŠ. Time to start, but where should you start? Before you go out and interview vendors think about the following

Wedding Style What is your wedding style? Will your ceremony take place in a place of worship or will it be at the reception site or at city hall? Will it be very formal or informal? What desired qualities do you want in your wedding? What time of year will your wedding be, will it be in the morning or evening? How many attendants, and guest are you thinking of. What type of reception will you have, will it be Champagne brunch a tea or a sit down dinner? These are all questions you need to ask yourself and your groom.

Budget Now down to the brass tacks, here. You cannot do anything until you sit down together, and your families to discuss the following 1. Who is paying for what 2. If parents are helping, ask to commit to an exact amount

5. Estimate how much you will need to save by the time the final bills are due 6. Think about setting up automatic payroll deductions into a money-market account 7. If possible sign up for a low-interest credit card that earn points or miles and use that card for all wedding purchase and use the points or miles for the honeymoon! Average Estimated Spending in 2009 is $28,761 Once you have tackled these two topics then go forth and start interviewing locations. Also take the time to go to the Seattle Wedding Show, remember to bring mailing labels pre-printed with your contact information. I also have a day class that goes through the entire wedding planning process, it is called Be a Better Bride and it is offered at local community colleges and facilities in the area. Date and locations are listed at the end of the newsletter.

3. Use your budget guideline to help give you an idea of how much a wedding cost 4. Set your top 3 priority categories

Location Spotlight

Each month I will try to talk about some of my favorite locations in and around the Seattle area, I thought with the first newsletter, I would stick close to home. Novelty Hill • Januik Winery – is two wineries under one winemaker, Mike Januik. He is known as “Master of Merlot” by Wine Enthusiast Magazine and was at Ste Michelle for many years and left that to start his own winery in 1999. So I was very excited to see the winery open and then to find out they were going to open it up for weddings, I was thrilled. In 2008 both the AIA and the International Interior Design Association honored the winery’s interior architecture with prestigious awards. As you see in the pictures it is a contemporary/modern space.

Here is what they say about themselves – “Novelty Hill • Januik Winery is an ideal location for a contemporary, intimate wedding celebration. From casual to elegant, our staff specializes in creating rehearsal dinners and wedding receptions that reflect the unique personality of each bride and groom.” The food is another unforgettable experience, Chef Dan Koommoo is dedicated to fresh cuisine from sustainable resources, including organic fruits and vegetables from nearby Oxbow Farm, designed to complement Novelty Hill’s and Januik’s award-winning wines. The menus are changed seasonally to reflect what is available and custom menus are available for your special day. Speaking with experience this is the case, the staff truly loves to see the couple have an

Oasis Spa & Salon The best advice I received after I got engaged was start taking care of your skin, nails and hair. Let your hairstylist know your engaged and talk with them about your thoughts on what you are thinking about doing, growing your hair longer, changing hair color, all of these above? Also, start a monthly skin care program, talk to an esthetician about how to make your skin the most radiant it has ever been and if you see an esthetician once a month or see them once every other month it will do wonders. One of my favorite spas is Oasis Spa & Salon, they are in Woodinville, and have everything from spray tanning to salon services and everything in between. Photo from Oasis Spa & Salon

unforgettable experience and become a part of the Novelty Hill • Januik Winery family. They are open daily from 11am to 5pm for wine tasting and on the weekends they do have brick oven working overtime with fabulous homemade pizzas. So stop by for a glass of wine or two and a pizza and take a look around. If it is nice outside the bocce balls will be ready.
