CURTAIN UP! FOR 120 YEARS

The Stubaier Bauerntheater folk theatre has a great history. Today, the theatre enthusiasts from Fulpmes also tell great stories and small and funny ones, and sometimes ones that make you think.

the typical Stubai costume and show traditional dances, for example at the summer open-air Tyrolean evenings on Kirchplatz. The Stubaier Bauerntheater also works a lot with other associations in the village.

Theatre Couple

Benedikt is only the fifth chairman in the history of the Stubaier Bauerntheater and took over the office from his father Michael in 2019. “In Fulpmes there has actually been a ‘theatre couple’ in every generation. And that’s the case now too,” says the chairman of the association. His wife Magdalena also succumbed to the theatre bug. They met each other while acting in the theatre group. Magdalena writes, arranges, directs and assists with organisational tasks, and together they ensure a lively social life for the association both on and off stage.

Next Premiere On 3 June

So it’s no surprise that a great deal is happening in the anniversary year 2023. “We had the theatre ball in February. The tickets were sold out in ten minutes. People queued for over an hour, like at a big pop concert,” Magdalena says. The next highlight on the programme is the anniversary play in June. The turbulent comedy ‘Fast wie früher’ (Almost like in the old days) will have its premiere on Saturday, 3 June 2023 (more performance dates: 16., 17., 23., 24., 29., 30.6.2023). In autumn there will be a fairy tale with children and for children again. It is going to be a major production of Beauty and the Beast with its own orchestra – just like in the old days. Anyone who saw Rumpelstiltskin or Snow White in previous years, will already have some idea of just how much of Stubai will be weaved into the plot again. Magdalena does not want to reveal any more yet. But her pen is poised.
