AGUA TRAILS SALES MANUAL 2015 - 2016

AGUA TRAILS SALES MANUAL 2015 - 2016

About Agua Trails Agua Trails is a Costa Rican tour operator, based in La Fortuna de San Carlos. We are dedicated to promote the cultural and natural highlights of the San Juan River, the Solentiname Archipelago, Ometepe and Granada by offering shuttles and packages for a fair price. The distance to the border crossing with Nicaragua, is just over 70 miles, allowing tourists to visit a new and exciting destination. Both overnight service and multi-day tours leave from the La Fortuna/ Arenal area. The border crossing between Costa Rica and Nicaragua is a lot less stressful than the more popular one at Peñas Blancas. Once you arrive at the border post in Tablillas and its Nicaraguan counterpart, at just 50 metres, the migration lines are much shorter and the border formalities are more easy-going than you would experience in Peñas Blancas. Agua Trails works with service providers that take “best management practices” to heart, working together for sustainable development through tourism in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. We also support social, environmental and economic projects by integrating them in our tours. A few examples:

Boca de Sábalos, kayak guides; • This project was set up to train local guides from Sábalos, a small village located on a tributary of the San Juan river, to guide tourists during kayak tours. We now offer kayak trips employing these guides. • We try to gain more benefits from tourism for the local community by giving English classes, taught by one of our employees, and by marketing/ promoting these excursions.

Solentiname Artists Solentiname is an island group that gained fame for its colony of artists who process and paint balsawood into colorful souvenirs. Some artists produce so-called naive paintings. We try to help these artists to promote their art by publicising Solentiname as a tourist destination, by offering a shuttle and a multi-day tour to this area. During this multi-day tour people can witness the artistic process of the painters and, for example, attend a workshop where they can participate. The Nicaraguan part of our services is operated by Vapues Tours (Nicaragua-Incoming), licensed by the Nicaraguan Tourism Board (INTUR) and member of the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR) and the National Association of Tour Operators (ANTUR). Vapues Tours and Rainforest Alliance have established an alliance to support best management practices in sustainable tourism since June the 5th 2007. Our office is located in the centre of La Fortuna, here we are more than welcome to attend your clients with all types of questions or concerns. We also have our own bilingual representative/guide in San Carlos, Nicaragua, who receives our clients and has in-depth knowledge of the area. She also assists with local sales and marketing.

Security: • • • •

Certified guides in both Costa Rica (I.C.T) and Nicaragua (Intur) Boat with life jackets, first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, aquatic transporte license, full insurance Declaration of Tourism by I.C.T Operation permits from the Ministry of Health and municipality of San Carlos, Costa Rica.
