CREATIVITA’ E SOSTENIBILITA’: QUATTRO ARTISTI RAPPRESENTERANNO TABLINUM ALL’ XI FLORENCE BIENNALE Per l’undicesima volta, dal 6 al 15 ottobre 2017, la Fortezza da Basso di Firenze ospiterà la “Florence Biennale – Biennale internazionale di arte contemporanea”.

Per 462 artisti, provenienti da 72 paesi di tutti e cinque i continenti, si tratterà di una vetrina d’eccellenza per la produzione artistica contemporanea a livello internazionale confermandosi come “piattaforma” indipendente, libera, inclusiva e innovativa per artisti che a diversi stadi di carriera sperimentano tecniche antiche e nuove con materiali disparati e che accoglie le principali forme di espressione artistica.

Giunta alla sua XI edizione e diretta da Jacopo Celona con la curatela di Melanie Zefferino, “Florence Biennale” si propone di contribuire a delineare una visione del futuro in cui creatività e sostenibilità siano principi fondanti di un “ecosistema” d’arte e cultura ove prevalga il rispetto della natura e di tutte le forme di vita sulla Terra. In questa prospettiva, sintetizzata nel tema “eARTh: creatività e sostenibilità”.

E’ una bella sfida quella che l’artista contemporaneo si trova a dover affrontare: il ritorno alle origini, il richiamo ad un arte che sappia cogliere l’essenza del mondo in cui siamo immersi e che sappia promuovere il dialogo fra natura e uomo, ricollocandolo in quel ambito dal quale si è estromesso volontariamente abbandonando ogni forma di comunicazione con il mondo circostante. Così l’artista, torna ad avere un ruolo attivo nel mondo, scende dalla propria “turris eburnea” per rispondere a quell’essenziale bisogno di comunicare utilizzando la propria sensibilità ed espressività.

La selezione presentata da Tablinum Cultural Management in occasione della XI edizione della Florence Biennale vuole evidenziare questa necessità di ritrovare spontaneità nell’arte. L’arte sostenibile è per noi arte accessibile: un’arte che esprime valori profondi e che restituisce tutta la sua importanza al ruolo dell’artista proprio. Di fronte ad una società complessa e contraddittoria come quella contemporanea, appare indispensabile che l’arte torni ad essere punto di riferimento per tutti noi e che sappia donarci la capacità di essere in comunione con il mondo.

A rappresentare Tablinum in questa importante vetrina internazionale saranno: Mariangela Bombardieri, che con il suo tratto inimitabile fatto di metanarrazioni coloristiche, ci presenta Gilgamesh e il Sogno del Faraone; Cecilia Martin Birsa attraverso sua opera scultorea La gavetta, ci racconta la tensione dell’anima che, tesa al raggiungimento del proprio obbiettivo, si sdoppia fra speranza e determinazione; la pittura densa di astrazioni liriche e simbolistiche di Nathalie Monac, sarà rappresentata dall’opera Antenne Galatique; mentre l’aritsta francese Dominique Joyeux ci coinvolge in un vortice di colori ed emozioni con Pulsation Jamaïque dove musica e colore consentono all’anima di ritrovare il proprio legame con la madre terra.

Il percorso di visita abituale sarà arricchito dalla preparazione di un catalogo digitale, scaricabile sia sul web che in loco, presso lo stand di Tablinum, attraverso il qrcode.

Il catalago fungerà da guida ed approfondimento per meglio analizzare l’opera delle artiste esposte e consentirà al visitatore un’analisi approfondita della poetica da cui ciascuna di esse attinge per mettersi in comunicazione con il mondo che la circonda.

CREATIVITY AND SUSTAINABILITY: FOUR ARTISTS REPRESENTING TABLINUM AT XIth FLORENCE BIENNALE For the eleventh time, from 6 to 15 October 2017, at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence will be held the "Florence Biennale - International Biennial of Contemporary Art".

For 462 artists coming from 72 countries from all five continents, this will be a showcase of excellence for contemporary art production at international level. The Biennale di Firenze is an independent, free, inclusive and innovative "platform" for artists who, at different stages of their career, experience old and new techniques with disparate materials and which embraces the main forms of artistic expression.

Now in its eleventh edition and directed by Jacopo Celona curated by Melanie Zefferino, "Florence Biennale" intends to outline a vision of the future in which creativity and sustainability are the founding principles of an "ecosystem" of art and culture where prevail respect for nature and all forms of life on Earth. In this perspective, summarized in the theme "eARTh: creativity and sustainability".

It is a great challenge that the contemporary artist has to face: the return to origins, the call for an art that knows how to grasp the essence of the world and promotes dialogue between nature and man, and places it in that field from which he voluntarily abandoned all forms of communication with the surrounding world.

So the artist, back to having an active role in the world, descends from his "turris eburnea" to respond to that essential need to communicate using his own sensitivity and expressiveness.

The selection presented by Tablinum Cultural Management wants to highlight this need to regain spontaneity in art.

Sustainable art is for us accessible art: an art that expresses profound values and which restores all its importance to the role of the artist himself. Faced with a complex and contradictory society like the contemporary one, it is indispensable for art to return to be a reference point for all of us and to give us the ability to be in communion with the world.

To represent Tablinum in this important international showcase will be: Mariangela Bombardieri, who with her inimitable line full of narrative and color, presents Gilgamesh and the Pharaoh's Dream; Cecilia Martin Birsa thanks to his sculptural work La gavetta, tells us about the tension of the soul that, tending to the attainment of its goal, is doubled between hope and determination; Nathalie Monac with her style full of lyric and symbolic abstractions, will be represented by Antenne Galatique; the French artist Dominique Joyeux involved us in a joyful whirlwind of colors and emotions with Pulsation JamaĂŻque where the soul, carried by music and colors, is immeditaly reconneted to Mother Earth.

The usual visit will be enriched at the Tablinum exhibition space by the presence of a digital catalog, downloadable both on the web and at the exhibition with the QrCode technology. That Catalog will serve as a guide to explore the theme of the biennial and to better analyze the work of the exhibited artists and will allow the visitor to a thorough analysis of the poetry from which each draws to get in communication with the world.

L’arte ha il potere di mettere in risalto la capacità dell’essere umano di accogliere in sè il mondo che lo circonda percepirne i ritmi che la natura scandisce e intepretarne il linguaggio nascosto.

Il legame tra l’arte e la natura nasce con l’interpretazione da parte dell’uomo dell’ ambiente che lo circonda. Da allora la natura entra nell’immaginario collettivo e ispira gli artisti di tutto il mondo

Creatività e sostenibilità. Non potrebbe essere auspicabile un’arte che cerca di dialogare con il nostro tempo? un’arte richiama la nostra attenzone verso la ricerca dell’essenza delle cose? Un arte che riconosce i propri archetipi? Quando l’arte contemporanea diventa veramente sostenibile? Queste sono tutte domande a cui daremo una risposta in questa Biennale!

The art has the power to bring out the human being's capacity to accommodate itself to the world around him. listen to the rhythms of nature and understand a hidden language.

The link between art and nature is born with the man’s interpretation of the surrounding environment. Since then nature enters the collective imagination and inspires artists from all over the world I think that the theme of this biennial eleventh is very important, especially in our times.

Creativity and sustainability. Would not it be desirable for an art seeking to dialogue with our time? an art recalls our attention to the search for the essence of things? An art that recognizes its archetypes? When contemporary art becomes truly sustainable? All’origine del mio operare artistico c’è un profondo amore per la libertà coniugato ad un’esigenza prepotente di raccontare e di raccontarsi. Esiste qualcosa di più libero e potente della fantasia? Come sostiene lo stesso Leonardo “il pittore è signore d’ogni sorta di gente e di tutte le cose”. Questo “potere” del pittore mi ha da sempre affascinato.

Dipingere mi fa sentire come una moderna Shahrazad, la protagonista delle Mille e una notte, che ha salva la vita, grazie alle sue doti di tessitrice di storie. La conoscenza della sofferenza ha liberato la mia mente da vincoli e condizionamenti. Per esprimere le mie percezioni, che naturalmente si riflettono nella mia attività artistica, mi piace ricordare un’espressione di Pico della Mirandola: Tu potrai degenerare nelle cose inferiori, al livello dei bruti; tu potrai, secondo il tuo volere, rigenerarti nelle cose superiori che sono divine”. Il filo rosso che unisce le mie opere è rappresentato da una commistione voluta di generi e tematiche. Intendo realizzare in pittura, infatti, una forma di “sincretismo culturale”, in cui si ha la perfetta e armonica fusione delle diverse discipline dello scibile umano.

Ora vi racconterò una storia, la favola de “La volpe e la maschera”, scritta da Fedro, poeta vissuto nell’età giulio-claudia, e ripresa successivamente anche da Jean de La Fontaine (sotto un diverso titolo: “la volpe e il busto”).

La volpe un giorno, per caso, vide una maschera tragica: “Che bella testa!” esclamò.

“Peccato, che non ha cervello!” (Personam tragicam forte vulpes viderat: “o quanta species” inquit “cerebrum non habet!”).

In una realtà come quella contemporanea, dominata dalle apparenze, soltanto un’acuta osservatrice (impersonata dalla volpe) riesce a penetrare la sostanza del reale e a vedere al di là dell’esteriorità il senso di vuoto che nasconde.

The origin of my artistic work is a deep love for freedom conjugated to a strong need to tell stories and to tell the public about myself. Is there anything more free and powerful than fantasy? As claimed by Leonardo himself “the painter is lord of every kind of person and of all things”. This “power” of the painter has always fascinated me. Painting makes me feel like a modern Scheherazade, the heroine of the Arabian Nights, which saves her life thanks to her skills as a weaver of tales. The knowledge of suffering has freed my mind of constraints and influences. To express my perceptions, which of course are reflected in my artistic activities, I like to quote a phrase by Pico della Mirandola: “You will be able to degenerate into the lower things, at the level of the brutes; You will be able, according to your will, regenerate yourself into the higher things that are divine. ” The thread running through my work is represented by a deliberate mix of genres and themes. In fact, I want to create a form of “cultural syncretism” in painting, where you have the perfect and harmonious fusion of different disciplines of human knowledge.

Now I will tell you a story, the story of “the fox and the mask”, written by Phaedrus, a poet who lived in the Julio-Claudine age, and resumed later by Jean de La Fontaine (under a different title: “the fox and the bust “).

The fox, one day, he saw – by accident – a tragic mask: “What a beautiful head!” He exclaimed. “Too bad it has no brain!”

(Personam tragicam forte vulpes viderat: “o quanta species” inquit “cerebrum non habet!”).

In a reality like the contemporary one, dominated by appearances, only a keen observer (played by the fox) manages to penetrate the substance of reality and see beyond exteriority, the emptiness that hides.

Le opere di Mariangela Bombardieri continuano a ammaliarci raccontando storie meravigliose e instillando in noi riflessioni profonde...sin dalla sua prima personale Aisthesis del 2014, quando ebbi l’onore di occuparmi dell’impianto curatoriale della mostra, le sue opere mi hanno affascinato per due motivi: la straordinaria bravura di Mariangela nel dare nuova vita al figurativo con accostamenti coloristici dai forti contrasti che mai sono stridenti. In lei lo studio dei grandi artisti del passato si coniuga alla personale sensibilità del mondo che ci circonda, la sua capacità di attualizzare miti e racconti raccontandoci attraverso l’opera d’arte un nuovo racconto.

La straordinaria bravura di Mariangela sa dare vita a un’opera potente in cui, gli accostamenti dai forti contrasti cromatici si coniugano, grazie alle sue doti di narratice, ad un racconto grandioso, fonte di grande stimolo per lo spettatore.

La fantasia e la creatività si sprigionano in quet’artista alla massima potenza in questa nuova opera in cui convivono ben sei impianti narrativi che, pur traendo origine da diverse epoche e civiltà, diaologano fra loro armoniosamente sino a prendere vita sulla tela.

In Gilgamesh e il Sogno del Faraone, assistiamo a un impianto narrativo grandioso supportato da una tecnica pittorica dal colorismo di eccezionale efficacia, capace di catturare l’occhio dello spettatore e accompagnarlo alla scoperta di quel significato universale che l’artista cela dietro l’interpretazione di sei soggetti, emblema di sei racconti differenti eppure legati dal filo d’oro dell’ispirazione dell’artista.

Sei visioni, sei storie che attraversano i tempi e le civiltà, ripercorrono la storia del genere umano attraverso i suoi metaracconti per ricordarci che in fondo la nostra esistenza è una grande avventura, un sogno a occhi aperti, dove ogni esperienza dell’individuo assume un valore universale nel grande cerchio della storia e dell’evoluzione del genere umano tutto.

The paintings of Mariangela Bombardieri continue to enchant us by telling wonderful stories and instilling deep reflections on us.

Since hier first personal exhibition “Aisthesis” in 2014, when I was honored to take care of the curatorship, her artworks fascinated me.

The extraordinary talent of Mariangela Bombers can give life to a powerful painting where, the combinations of strong chromatic contrasts are combined, thanks to her narrative skills, to a great narrative complex, a source of great stimulation for the viewer.

Fantasy and creativity get the utmost power in this new work.

On the canvas coexist six different narratives that originate from different epochs and civilizations, communicate with each other harmoniously and come to life on the canvas.

In Gilgamesh and the Pharaoh’s dream, the narrative is supported by a pictorial technique of colorism of exceptional effectiveness: the eye of the spectator is immediately caught and accompanied to discover the universal meaning that the artist hides in the six subjects, emblem of six stories different yet tied by a golden thread to the inspiration of the artist.

Six visions, six stories crossing the times and civilizations, recall the history of mankind. Thanks to these metanarrations, we can remember that in the end our existence is a great adventure, an open-minded dream, where every individual’s experience takes on universal value in the great circle of history and evolution of mankind...

“Levate inni al Divino Gilgamesh, il valente! I grandi dei crearono la figura del divino Gilgamesh: il Sole del cielo gli dette la forza virile, il dio della tempesta gli dette animo di eroe”. Tutte le terre egli percorse. Gilgamesh, quinto re della I dinastia di Uruk, scrutò i confini del mondo alla ricerca della pianta dell’immortalità, per donarla all’umanità e sconfiggere la morte. E’ notte ed egli è solo dinanzi al fuoco. Enkidu, suo fedele servitore è morto. Alte fiamme si levano dal fuoco. Gilgamesh getta alcuni rametti d’incenso nel fuoco e dalle fiamme si sviluppano argentee volute di fumo [1]. Tra le spirali di fumo si rivelano alcune immagini per poi dileguarsi nel buio della notte.

Prima visione: Il faraone sognò di trovarsi presso il Nilo. Ed ecco salirono dal Nilo sette vacche, belle di aspetto e grasse e si misero a pascolare tra i giunchi. Ed ecco, dopo quelle, sette altre vacche salirono dal Nilo, brutte di aspetto e magre. Queste ultime divorarono le sette vacche belle di aspetto e grasse. E il faraone si svegliò. Poi si addormentò e sognò una seconda volta: ecco sette spighe spuntavano da un unico stelo, grosse e belle. Ma ecco sette spighe vuote e arse dal vento d’oriente spuntavano dopo quelle. Le spighe vuote inghiottirono le sette spighe grosse e piene. Poi il faraone si svegliò: era stato un sogno. Il suo spirito ne era turbato, perciò convocò tutti gli indovini e tutti i saggi dell’Egitto. Nessuno seppe interpretare i suoi sogni. Giuseppe, un giovane ebreo, schiavo del capo delle guardie, aveva il dono di saper interpretare i sogni. Il faraone lo convocò. Allora Giuseppe disse al faraone: “Ecco stanno per venire sette anni, in cui sarà grande abbondanza in tutto il paese d’Egitto. Poi a questi succederanno sette anni di carestia. Il fatto che il sogno del faraone si è ripetuto due volte, significa che la cosa è decisa da Dio e che Dio si affretta ad eseguirla”[2].

Seconda visione: E’ il mese di febbraio del 1637, in Olanda distese sterminate di tulipani fiammeggiano al Sole, disseminate tra migliaia di mulini a vento. I fiori fluttuano sotto la sferza del vento. Il panico dilaga per le campagne e le vie delle città [3].

Terza visione: Pinocchio cammina per la strada, quando incontra una Volpe zoppa da un piede e un Gatto cieco da tutt’e due gli occhi, che se ne vanno, aiutandosi fra di loro, da buoni compagni di sventura. Pinocchio, nel conversare con i due animali, mostra loro i cinque zecchini d’oro, avuti in regalo da Mangiafuoco. Al simpatico suono di quelle monete la Volpe, per un moto involontario, allunga la gamba che pare rattrappita, e il Gatto spalanca tutt’e due gli occhi, che paiono due lanterne verdi.

— E ora, — gli domanda la Volpe, — che cosa vuoi farne di codeste monete?

Nel paese dei Barbagianni, c’è un campo benedetto chiamato da tutti il Campo dei miracoli. Tu fai in questo campo una piccola buca e ci metti dentro, per esempio, uno zecchino d’oro. Poi ricopri la buca con un po’ di terra, l’annaffi con due secchi d’acqua, ci getti sopra una presa di sale, e la sera te ne vai tranquillamente a letto. Intanto, durante la notte, lo zecchino germoglia e fiorisce, e la mattina dopo, ritornando nel campo, che cosa trovi? Trovi un bell’albero carico di tanti zecchini d’oro [4].

Quarta visione: La dea Diana, sorella gemella di Apollo, vergine indomabile, corre attraverso monti e foreste con le sue compagne e la sua muta di cani, pronta a tirare con l’arco: è la selvaggia dea della Natura. Come divinità lunare, errante come la luna, gioca sulle montagne e indica agli uomini la via del cambiamento. Sotto il suo sguardo attento si staglia il busto di Giano Bifronte [5], sormontato da un quadrifoglio [6]. Giano è un Dio dal doppio volto, una delle divinità più antiche di Roma. Questi nella più antica religione è una divinità solare, l’alter ego al maschile di Diana. Si consolida come divinità che, al mattino, apre e, la sera, chiude le porte del cielo, come ci rivela l’etimo latino di Janua. Negli inni viene invocato come “buon creatore”, cioè come creatore degli uomini (Ianus Pater) e padre Dio degli Dei, padre in altri termini, di tutti gli uomini, della Natura e dell’Universo. Divenne la divinità dell’apertura e dell’inizio, con caratteristiche simili a quelle della divinità solare che apre il cammino alla luce accompagnando l’attività umana nel corso della giornata. Egli interviene all’inizio di ogni impresa, al cui compimento presiedono le vestali. Invece, per quanto riguarda il quadrifoglio, secondo la tradizione irlandese ogni foglia indicherebbe una diversa specifica fortuna: rispetto, abbondanza, amore, salute.

Fra queste, ricordiamo la crisi dei mutui sub-prime negli Stati Uniti, che iniziò a manifestarsi nel 2006 e scoppiò nel 2008. Quinta visione: Sospeso soltanto per un piede, quello sinistro, con il ginocchio destro ripiegato a croce sull’altra gamba, figura il giovane dell’arcano XII dei Tarocchi. Egli sperimenta la dolorosa tortura riservata in passato ai debitori, come ebbe a dire il poeta inglese E. Spencer nel suo poema The Fairie Queene: “Egli per i piedi appeso ad un albero, e così deriso da tutti i passanti, potessero vedere la sua punizione”. Il corpo dell’Impiccato penzola nel vuoto, abbandonato ma ancora vincolato, con le mani dietro la schiena, presumibilmente legate, che gli impediscono di liberarsi e di agire, perché l’anima liberata sfugge ormai la realtà della materia. L’Impiccato ha scoperto che il segreto per penetrare l’ essenza delle cose sta nel loro capovolgimento. Dall’inversione di prospettiva, dall’abbandono dei comuni schemi mentali, attraverso l’esperienza della solitudine e del dolore, scaturisce l’idea chiara e illuminante, presupposto per l’accettazione e la trasformazione di sé.

Sesta visione: Giona affiora tra le onde, fuoriuscendo dai fanoni di una balena [7]. Egli riceve da Dio la missione di andare a predicare a Ninive, città nemica. Giona invece decide di fuggire il più lontano possibile dal Signore: fino a Tarsis, misteriosa città spagnola dell’estremo Occidente, laggiù presso le Colonne d’Ercole. Ma il Signore scatena una furiosa tempesta e la nave rischia di colare a picco. La colpa dell’ira divina è di Giona, poiché ha rifiutato di obbedire a JHWH. Il profeta deve essere gettato in mare e viene inghiottito da un “grande pesce”. Giona, per tre giorni e tre notti, vive nelle viscere dell’animale e lì conosce la disperazione e l’angoscia più profonde. Ha perso tutte le sue certezze: la sua vita è nelle mani del Signore. Ora nel silenzio dell’abisso riconosce, nel coro discordante delle molte voci illusorie, l’unica voce vera: la voce che ci chiama a dare corpo e senso alla nostra esistenza. Egli si pente e rivolge a Dio un’intensa preghiera. Allora, dietro comando divino, il pesce vomita Giona sulla spiaggia. Questi adempie la sua missione e va a predicare ai niniviti. “Giona” in ebraico significa “colomba”. La sua vicenda è un’efficace parabola della condizione dell’uomo contemporaneo. Questi vuole fuggire da se stesso e dalle proprie responsabilità per inseguire l’effimero. Ma esiste un solo modo di essere “colomba”. Egli deve sperimentare necessariamente la sofferenza.

Gilgamesh, dopo l’ultima visione, si risveglia dallo stato di torpore in cui era piombato e sente dal profondo della sua anima una voce risalire: la pianta dell’immortalità non esiste – è questo il messaggio degli dei – ma esiste la nostra missione nel mondo!

L’unico volto che non era e non poteva essere raffigurato era quello del presente, l’inafferrabile. Virgilio parla di Giano nel Libro VII dell’Eneide e ci ricorda che questi avrebbe “… regnato in Italia prima di Saturno e di Giove”. Egli fissò la propria dimora sul Gianicolo, che da lui prese il nome.

“Raise hymns to the Divine Gilgamesh, the gifted! The great Gods created the figure of the Divine Gilgamesh: the Sun in the sky gave him virile strength, the God of storms gave him the soul of a hero.”

He walked through every land. Gilgamesh, the fifth king of the Uruk dynasty, explored the boundaries of the world in search of the immortality plant, to give it to mankind and defeat death. It’s night and he’s alone in front of the fire. Enkidu, his faithful servant, is dead. High flames rise up from the fire. Gilgamesh throws some incense sticks in the fire and silver smoke coils develop from the flames. Some of the smoke spirals reveal a few images and then vanish into the dark night.

First Vision: the Pharaoh dreamed of being by the Nile. And behold, seven cows came up from the Nile, beautiful in appearance and fat, and they started pasturing among the rushes. And then, after those ones, seven other cows came from the Nile, ugly and thin. The latter devoured the seven beautiful and fat cows. And the Pharaoh woke up. Then he fell asleep and dreamed a second dream. Here are seven ears, large and beautiful, sprouting from a single stem. But seven empty ears, struck by the east wind, spun out after them. The empty ears swallowed up the seven large and full ears. Then the Pharaoh woke up. His spirit was troubled, so he summoned all the fortune tellers and all the wise men from Egypt. No one could interpret his dreams. Joseph, a young Jew, the chief of the guards’ slave, had the gift of interpreting dreams. The Pharaoh summoned him. Fourth Vision: The goddess Diana, Apollo’s twin, an indomitable virgin, runs through mountains and forests with her girl mates and her dogs pack, ready to shoot with the bow: it is the wild goddess of Nature.

As a lunar deity, wandering like the Moon, plays in the mountains and shows the men the way of change. Under his careful look, the bust of the two-faced Janus stands , surmounted by a clover. Janus is a double-faced God, one of the oldest divinities in Rome. In the oldest religion he is a solar divinity, Diana’s masculine alter ego. It consolidates itself as a divinity that in the morning opens the gates of the sky and in the evening closes them, as revealed by the Latin etymon of Janua . In the hymns he is called upon as “good creator”, that is, as the creator of men (Janus Pater) and Father God of the Gods; in other words, he is the father of all the men, of Nature and of the Universe. He became the divinity of openings and beginnings, with characteristics similar to those of the solar divinity that opens the way to the light, accompanying human activity throughout the day. He intervenes at the beginning of each undertaking, whose fulfillment the vestals preside over. With regard to the four-leafed clover, according to the Irish tradition, each leaf would indicate a different, specific fortune: respect, abundance, love, and health.

3) The bubble of tulips or tulip mania was a speculative bubble on flower bulb prices, bursting into the Dutch economy of the seventeenth century, perhaps the first documented in the history of capitalism. The tulip, introduced in Europe in the mid sixteenth century by Turkey, gained popularity in the Netherlands, and quickly became a luxury good and a status symbol. The prices reached unsustainable levels. A record price was paid for the most famous bulb, the Semper Augustus, which was sold in Haarlem for 6,000 florins (Wikipedia source).

Fifth Vision: Suspended only by one foot, the left one, with the right knee bent like a cross on the other leg, is the young man of the Arcane XII of the Tarot cards. He experiences the painful torture reserved in the past to debtors, as the English poet Edmund Spencer said in his poem The Fairie Queene: “He was hanging from a tree by his feet, and so was jeered by all the passersby, who could see his punishment”.

The body of the hanged man was hanging in the empty space, abandoned but still bound, with his hands behind his back, supposedly tied, preventing him from getting free and acting, because the liberated soul escapes the reality of matter. The Hangman has discovered that the secret to penetrating the essence of things lies in their reversal. From the reversal of perspective, from the abandonment of common mental patterns, through the experience of solitude and pain, a clear and enlightening idea springs out, an assumption for the acceptance and the transformation of the self.

Sixth vision: Jonah emerges from the waves, coming out from a whale’s baleens. He receives from God the mission of going to preach to Nineveh, an enemy city. On the contrary, Jonah decides to escape as far as possible from the Lord: to Tarsis, the mysterious Spanish town of the far west, down there, at the Pillars of Hercules. But the Lord provokes a furious storm and the ship risks to sink. The blame of the Divine Wrath is Jonah’s, for he refused to obey JHWH. The prophet must be thrown into the sea and is swallowed by a “big fish”. For three days and three nights Jonah lives in the bowels of the animal and there he knows the deepest despair and anguish. He has lost all his certainties: his life is in the Lord’s hands. Now in the silence of the abyss, in the disharmonious chorus of the many illusory voices, he recognizes the only real voice: the voice that calls us to give body and meaning to our existence. He repents and addresses an intense prayer to God. Then, for divine command, the fish vomits Jonah on the beach. He fulfills his mission and goes to preach to the inhabitants of Nineveh. “Jonah” in Hebrew means “dove”. His story is an effective parable of the condition of contemporary man. He wants to escape from himself and his responsibilities to follow the ephemeral. But there is only one way of being “dove”. He must necessarily experience suffering.

After the last vision, Gilgamesh was awakened by the state of torpor in which he was plunged and heard a voice rising up from the depths of his soul: the plant of immortality does not exist - this is the message of gods - but our mission is in the world! “Life is a series of experiences, each of which makes us bigger, even though it’s difficult to realize. Because the world was created to develop character, and we must learn that the overturns and sufferings we sustain help us on our path” (Henry Ford).

Janus represented the time: the past through his old face, the future through his face as a young man. The only face that was not and could not be depicted was that of the present, the unseizable. Virgil deals with Janus in Book VII of the Aeneid and reminds us that he would “reign in Italy before Saturn and Jupiter.” He fixed his dwelling on the Gianicolo hill in Rome, which was called after him.

From a spiritual point of view, the four-leaf clover may represent the same meanings of the clover with the fourth leaf indicating man or humanity. The clover with its three leaves, in fact, represents the Son, the Father and the Holy Spirit, but also the three theological virtues, namely faith, love and hope.

Janua means door in Latin.

The whale is a symbol related to the myths of creation. Like the crocodile, the elephant and the turtle, it is a cosmophorous animal whose strength and size are a support to the world and whose movements cause earthquakes. For the native Americans the whale is the guardian of ancient memories, which possesses the wisdom and chanting of the ancestors. Its large concave shape recalls both the darkness of a cave where to get lost and disappear, and the mother’s womb that protects and nourishes. Hugging the whale is like going back to the human womb, it is love for humanity itself. L’emozione che ci coinvolge di fronte “Pulsation Jamaique” di Dominque Joyeux è forte e immediata, inarrestabile.

Un vortice di colori caldi e affascinanti. L’uso sapiente del colore a olio e la luminosità dello smalto dona a loro grande vitalità. Forme e colori pulsano al ritmo di una musica interiore sempre più suadente. Scopriamo i battiti del nostro cuore coincidere con quelli della terra stessa.

Non è possibile osservare una sua opere senza lasciarsi travolgere dal ritmo dei colori, dalla morbidezza di un tratto che vuole assecondare la visione dell’artista regalandoci forme sinuose e coinvolgenti. Il giallo, l’arancio e il verde trasmettono una senzazione di luminosità e gioia mentre danzano con i contorni traggegiati in nero.

Il ritmo della musica pulsa nei colori e dona gioia: non c’è un luogo come la Jamaica dove questo connubio sia più intenso e Pulsation Jamaique, ci cattura e ci travolge in una danza irrefrenabile in un urlo di gioia. Danziamo e diventiamo un tuttuno con la terra .

Dominique Joyeux esplora l’essenza delle cose attraverso l’arte, indaga la vita della materia sin dalle origini del mondo.

La sua pittura ci rende parteci dell’incontro fra colore e materia; ci trasmette tutta la forza e la bellezza che si sprigiona quando l’uomo riesce ad entrare in comunione con lanatura che lo circonda e a dialogare con la madre Terra.

Nelle sue tele è possibile individuare l’eco di grandi maestri del colore: subito si pensa al grande Matisse, con il quale condivide sicuramente l’amore per il colorismo e il tratto fluido ma, attenzione: è difficile archiviare la sua pittura all’interno di una delle usuali categoria storico artistiche, come siamo abituati a fare. Emotions overwhelm us in front of "Pulsation Jamaique" by Dominque Joyeux: strong and immediate, unstoppable.

A vortex of warm and fascinating colors. The clever use of the oil color and the brightness of the enamel gives them great vitality. Shapes and colors pulsate at the rhythm of an increasingly subtle inner music. Admiring this painting, we discover the beating of our heart coincide with those of the earth itself.

“Riesci a vivere d’arte ?” mi viene chiesto spesso: “Certo che sì”, rispondo: “ senza, potrei solo sopravvivere".

Da bambina disegnavo su una lavagnetta.

Da adolescente disegnavo i miei stati d’animo su miliardi di foglietti.

Nei frequenti spostamenti in treno, tormentavo gli altri pendolari perché si lasciassero fare ritratti: le più lusingate dalle mie attenzioni erano prostitute di colore.

Il mio maestro Placido mi ha insegnato a disegnare e dipingere dal vero, preferibilmente. Ho avuto l’onore di fare la mia prima mostra con lui, nella Biblioteca Benedetto Croce a Pollone. Ma, soprattutto, mi ha insegnato a scolpire : “Scultore si nasce, non si diventa” mi ripeteva spesso. “ guarda la pietra, osservala bene, disegna prima e poi lavora”. Da quando ho scoperto la pietra, non sono più riuscita a lasciarla. La pietra di torrente, dura come il ferro, imprevedibile, con le sue inclusioni è un universo di colori e di storia naturale, atavica, racconta storie di centinaia di milioni di anni: di magma e di abissi, di ghiaccio e di terra.

Creare una scultura è per me un momento di altissima concentrazione. La mucronite, il serpentino o il granito non sono come creta o marmo, ai quali bravissimi artisti o scultori impongono anima e forma, ma esigono ascolto, dialogo e una continua ricerca, molto simile a decifrare una forma immersa nell’acqua.

Mi rifugio nella bellezza della pietra, che ha atteso milioni di anni per diventare scultura.

Essendo io ben conscia di questa responsabilità, trasformo le pietre in quell’essere umano che ha in se le più grandi promesse di bellezza: la donna.

“You should become an artist” Placido Castaldi told me. And I listened to him. “Artist” Aldo Flecchia told me years later “ is rather presumptious, I consider myself to be simply a sculptor”.

“History” assured Giorgio Perazzone, “ proves everyone of us right or wrong” Three people, three milelstones along my way. “Are you able to live off art?” they often ask me: “ Certainly” I reply “ without it, I would only be surviving. From being a child I drew on a blackboard. In adolescence I designed my moods on billions of scraps of paper. During my frequent train journeys, I pestered the other commuters to let me draw them.

The most appreciative were the coloured prostitutes. My maestro Placido taught me preferably to draw and paint naturally.

It was an honour for me to show together with him, in the Benedetto Croce library in Pollone. But, above all, he taught me to sculpture:- “You are born a sculptur, you do not become one” he repeated often. “look at the stone, observe it well, draw first, then work it. Since I discovered stone, I havent been able to put it down.

River stones, hard as iron, unpredictable, with its inclusions it is a universe of colours and natural history, primordial, telling stories of hundreds of millions of years: of magma and the depths, of ice and of earth. Creating a sculpture is for me a moment of deep concentration. Mucronite, serpentine or granite are not the same as clay or marble, to which excellent artists or sculptors impose soul and shape, but they need to be heard, to be , dialogued with, to be consistently researched, very similar to deciphering a form submerged in water.

I hide in the beauty of the stone, which has been waiting millions of years to become sculptur. Being fully aware of my responsabilities, I transform the stones into the human being that possesses the most promise of beauty: woman.

Trarre le forme dalla pietra sottointende un doppio impegno fisico e mentale; potremmo definirla un’operazione maieutica: indovinare le forme che un blocco di pietra cela nel proprio cuore e lavorare alacremente sino a liberarle e renderle visibile a tutti. Questo è il lavoro dello scultore, arte di fatica, scultura per via di levare che tradizionalmente la storia dell’arte ha riservato a grandi nomi (Donatello, Michelangelo, Bernini, se vgliamo citare nomi eccellenti) tutti maschili perchè la scultura e atto di forza, lotta con la materia per strapparvi un’idea. Cosa accade allora quando i luoghi comuni vengono banditi e lo scultore si fa donna...come si coniugano sensibilità femminile e forza, che cosa creano? Eccoci che la risposta si palesa nella scultura di Cecilia Martin Birsa. La fatica, l’atto di forza per strappare la materia in eccesso e liberare la forma si sublimano nella delicatezza delle emozioni che queste forme, finalmente libere ci trasmettono.

I soggetti nati dalla scultura di Cecilia, sono espressione del femminile e coniugano la durezza della lavorazione della pietra, tutta la fatica, a la sensibilità del suo animo, alle riflessioni sempre profonde che caratterizzano le sculture di Cecilia. Lo scorso anno l’abbiamo ammirata in opere come “Donna allo specchio” in cui ha espresso una femminilità intenta ad ammirare se stessa e il suo doppio con tutto il suo bagaglio di sentimenti e contraddizioni.

Oggi, in occasione dell’esposizione alla XI Florence Biennale, ammiriamo in “La Gavetta” tutta la tensione e il dramma dell’anima che, concentrata sul proprio obiettivo, non puo’ abbandonare se stesso alla fiducia delle proprie azioni senza, allo stesso tempo, sostenersi e farsi coraggio se stesso.

La strada impervia dell’artista che lavora con determianzione potendo contare solo sulla propria capacità si esprime meravigliosamente in questa opera.

Ringraziamo la forza e la sensibilità di Cecilia Martin Birsa che ci regala opere che sanno arrivare all’animo di chi le ammira!

Taking forms from stone implies a dual physical and mental commitment; we might call it a maieutical operation: guessing the shapes that a stone block hides in their heart and working hard to get rid of it and make it visible to everyone.

This is the work of the sculptor, art of fatigue, sculpture “for lifting” (as Michelangelo said). Sculture was traditionally The sculpture was reserved by great names (Donatello, Michelangelo, Bernini, if we cite excellent names of masters) all male: because sculpture has been considered for centuries as an act of force; a struggle with matter in order to tear up ideas.

What happens when the commonplace is banned and the artist, the sculptor, becomes a woman? ... how do feminine sensitivity and strength coexist, what do they create? Here we have the answer with the work of sculpture by Cecilia Martin Birsa.

La Gavetta si puo’ definire una scultura doppia: racconta il dialogo dell’anima che, tesa al raggiungimento dell’ obiettivo, si divide in due: una parte si abbandona fiduciosa,l’altra parte sostiene.

Il punto focale si trova nella tensione e distensione,quale elemento di contrasto, nel collo delle due figure.

“The Gavetta” is a double sculpture: it tells the dialogue of the soul divided into two parts while focusing on its own goal.

One part abandons itself confident, the other party is engaged in the effort.

The focal point of the sculpture lies in the neck of the two figures. It is highlighted in tension and relaxation as a contrast element.

Esse rappresentano l'AMORE e raccontano tutte una storia...la storia dell’evoluzione di un’anima che racchiudete dentor di voi.

Nella pittura, ho l’immenso privilegio di comunicare con la mia Guida, poiché è lui che mi trasmette i miei dipinti, mi insegna colori e tecniche da dipingere. E ‘attraverso la pittura che ho avuto modo di “incontrarla” e so che lei è con me ogni giorno. Lo stesso avviene anche a voi, non abbiate mai dubbi!

I paint with my Heart and Soul.

I let myself be guided by my brushes and the final rendering is always a beautiful discovery.

Painting is a natural gift to me. It is this Art that has called me and every gesture, every technique comes to me naturally as if the fabric caught my creativity, spontaneously.

This is called INTUITIVE PAINT. I am, a painter channel (medium). All my works are addressed to each and every one of you. They are all accompanied by their personal message. ​ They allow you to evolve and heal what your Soul claims.

All my paintings resonate differently in each of us since everyone is unique and sees what corresponds to him.

They all represent LOVE and all tell a story. The story of the evolution of an incarnated Soul.

In painting, I have the immense privilege of communicating with my Guide, since it is he who transmits to me my paintings, teaches me colors and techniques to paint.
