PUBLISHER’S NOTE

> In a sad note we regret to report the recent passing of Gary Sain, our wonderful and loyal friend and contributor to Orlando Style Magazine. Gary will be sorely missed and it is with much sorrow that our thoughts and prayers are with Pamela, the Sain family and all those friends and acquaintances who had the good fortune to know Gary. In an almost eerie coincidence and while celebrating the success of Pamela’s ‘Taste of Point Orlando’ charity event just a few weeks ago, a group of us discussed a topic presented by Gary relative to the meaning of life, our expectations and specifically the question: “What would you prefer...knowing the date and time of one’s own death or not knowing”? The majority responded with a preference to not know, including Gary, but we can’t help but think that cerebral and subconscious phenomena work in mysterious ways.We will miss you, Gary, along with your relentless efforts in contributing to the growth of the Orlando community which you recently reported has now reached over 54 million visitors annually. Hopefully, our loss will remind us that we are all here on a limited journey so perhaps we need to spend less time fighting and viciously competing with one another and more time developing the harmony to get along and reduce the stress which seems to hasten our demise. “Love Deeply, Laugh Often, and Live Well” < Sincerely,

Sven J. Bode, Publisher

PEOPLE

DANIEL CRAIG STILL GETS ALL THE ACTION AS JAMES BOND BUT THIS TIME THE BIGGEST VILLAIN WILL BE HIS OWN INNER DEMONS By: Jessica Sanchez Read more at: StyleToMe.com

STYLETOME.COM

PEOPLE

> Over the past 50 years, the list of things men will never get tired of looking at hasn’t changed much; hot women, exotic cars and explosions are still at the top, which is probably why the exciting exploits of James Bond continue to be the vicarious life of choice for men around the world. Even though he drinks martinis and has an uncanny sense of fashion, he still manages to retain enough machismo to get the hottest girl in the bar every time! The very first Bond movie came out in 1962 and there have been 22 remakes and sequels ever since, making James Bond the longest running film franchise in history. During that time he has survived 4,662 shots fired at him, according to statisticians who were likely procrastinating on their real work. So the newest “007” movie, Skyfall, is under enormous pressure to be even James Bondier than the others. As is typical with the Bond series, Skyfall won’t directly reference events in the previous film, and details on Skyfall appear to be classified; the filmmakers are treating the script like a top-secret spy mission and keeping most of the juicy details under wraps. Even 007 himself would be hardpressed to gather much info until the film is released this November. Filmmakers won’t even explain the meaning of the movie title (“It has a number of meanings,” is all Craig would say). Of course, that isn’t stopping them from holding dozens of cryptic press conferences and interviews in which they somehow manage to build excitement for the film without really letting you know what to get excited about. It’s been a frustrating but effective form of PR. From what we can tell, Bond fans will be treated to the typical kaleidoscope of murderous villains, high-octane thrills and fiery explosions with what I’m sure will be an unusually high number of scattering pigeons to add to the chaos. The main backdrop is London, but in Bond’s typical globetrotting fashion, fans will journey with their hero to Istanbul,Turkey, Shanghai and Scotland as well. And, as always, the film will feature women whose beauty and brains are preposterously well matched. But this time around leading lady Naomie Harris says she’s more than just a “Bond girl,” her role as a capable and skilled field agent puts her at the center of many action scenes alongside Craig.

“It’s so nerve-wracking,” Harris said at a roundtable interview in May. “Doing the whole stunts thing is absolutely terrifying because it suddenly becomes so technical and so hugely pressurized. If you imagine you’re doing a scene where you’ve got to shoot someone and bits of the scenery collapse and someone has to jump through a window - that’s massive resetting time if you don’t get it right.”

“Some people sometimes forget in the cliché of Bond,” Mendes said, “which is the international playboy, and someone who’s always untroubled, and almost never breaks a sweat. Actually what (Fleming) created was a very conflicted character.” We have also managed to learn that there will be a few unusual twists that might leave fans feeling both shaken and stirred. The first one is a subtle, but unusual deviation from the dapper, sophisticated image of Bond; he’ll be substituting his trademark martini with a good ol’ fashioned manly beer. A Heineken, to be exact. This isn’t meant to be some kind of masculinizing character development; it’s just that Heineken paid a TON of money for some extraordinarily clever product placement. Looks like Guinness missed a big marketing opportunity. The second change is a much bigger deviation from Bond‘s image because one of the villains he wrestles with will be his own inner demons. For the first time the confident and debonair spy will take movie-goers on a journey into his own troubled psyche as he struggles with the fact that, well, he kills people for a living. And he’s obnoxiously good at it. “I’ve always been interested in that side of him,” says Craig. “I think that it’s interesting to sort of play the emotion of everything that you see on screen. It’s not to say this movie’s become a piece of drama. I think what (director Sam Mendes) has done is

::

cast it in a way that means that we just have fabulously interesting characters to watch and be entertained by, and that their interaction is what the movie’s about. He’s a killer, that’s what he does for a living. To have a conscience about that I think is interesting.” Most Bond movies have overlooked this internal psychoanalysis and have chosen instead to focus on a 007 whose actionpacked spy missions were enhanced with outrageous gadgets, special effects and extras who have perfected the “staring on in horror” look, but for people who have read the original James Bond novels by author Ian Fleming the idea of a conscious-burdened Bond is nothing new. At a press conference earlier this year, Mendes pointed out that Fleming created a character that was sometimes frustrated, depressed and ambivalent about his job. “Some people sometimes forget in the cliché of Bond,” Mendes said, “which is the international playboy, and someone who’s always untroubled, and almost never breaks a sweat. Actually what (Fleming) created was a very conflicted character.” Mendes added that Daniel is an actor capable of portraying a character with such conflicting emotions. Craig reread Bond novels as part of his preparation for Skyfall, and spoke to intelligence agents about their work to get an idea of the hardships they face. Let’s just hope we don’t have to sit through a scene of 007 sitting in a therapist’s office like Tony Soprano, waxing poetic about the terrorist he just threw in front of a speeding commuter train while reflecting on his Oedipus complex. Judi Dench will return as spy chief M, and much of the movie’s plot twist centers around her waning relationship with Bond; it is put to the test when her past comes back to haunt her. When asked to explain, Craig answered in the typically evasive manner we’ve come to expect, “It’s just grown. It’s just growing, and that’s what’s great.” Mendes added, “We’ve gone further into their relationship and, without giving too much away, I think something interesting happened.” Thanks, Sam. Skyfall, the 23rd Bond film, hits theaters in the U.S. on November 9th.<

Five Killer GOLF

Golf Courses

By: Jessica Sanchez Read more at: StyleToMe.com

GOLF

> The average golfer will tell you that, despite how it’s portrayed on television, golfing is fun. Some of my girlfriends have even convinced themselves that they took up the game because it’s an exciting way to challenge their physical and mental prowess and not because they want to meet men (because everyone knows men find a group of giggling women casually drinking beer and taking their sweet gossipy time on the green not at all annoying). But whether you consider golf an actual sport or merely a recreational hobby there’s no denying that there is still such a thing as “extreme golfing” and the following courses prove it. Golfers who take to these greens are of the mindset that they will finish their game even if it kills them! Which isn’t all that unlikely. Kabul Golf Club - This Afghanistan golf course doesn’t fit some of the stereotypes you probably of have of a course located in a war-torn city at the forefront of the fight against terrorism; it fits ALL of them. Instead of pristine greens lined with lush trees the nine-hole course is an arid wasteland of desert sand and waste oil, pockmarked with craters made from mine explosions and rocket launches. Located just 30 minutes from Kabul’s city center, the clubhouse is a dilapidated building that has held up remarkably well despite being in the cross fire of nightly gun battles for many years. The course was closed in 1996 after the Taliban banned the playing of any form of sport (so I guess there are SOME people who consider golf a sport), then re-opened in 2004 after the U.S. military “de-mined” it. To be on the safe side, the manager also let several thousand sheep roam the course for nearly a week to set off any stray mines. So let that be the least of your worries; concentrate instead on not getting your ball stuck in a sand trap and, oh yeah, not getting kidnapped. Apparently the area where you cross the road to the fifth and sixth holes is prone to kidnappings, which explains why the club’s 120 members or so, mostly foreign diplomats, take along a bodyguard or two. Ironically, no guns are allowed on the premises. Mount Merapi Golf Course - This Indonesian golf course is said to be a scenic haven for golf lovers and sightseers. Its breath-taking

panoramic view makes it a course “worth trying to play on,” according to some websites. And they’re not talking about trying to play on it just because of its degree of difficulty. It’s located on the slope of the most active volcano in the country. So go ahead, TRY to play on it, but be prepared to run for your life at a moment’s notice. You’ll hear the horn from the emergency warning system first. The last major eruption was in 2010 when, after a series of small belches, the volcano spewed a fiery torrent of ash and lava that flowed like a river down the mountain side killing more than 350 people and covering the so-called scenic haven under a somber layer of gray ash and broken dreams. The town and its tourist-drawing golf course have been somewhat restored since then and tourism agencies have managed to turn lava into molten lava cake by using the destruction as a selling point. You can buy a “volcano tour package” with a round of golf and visit the most devastated areas. I wonder if aliens are out there in the universe watching this the way we watch lemmings fall off a cliff, thinking to themselves, “Now why in the hell are they still doing that???” Camp Bonifas –This rustic golf course sits on a quiet, but tense parcel of land like a doleful child in the middle of a bitter divorce proceeding. It is located in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea who, as you may recall, get along slightly less than Republicans and Democrats. Its beauty lies not in its terrain but in its lack thereof; the course is a mere 192 yard par three consisting of only one hole. If your ball goes out of bounds then that’s it, game over. Literally a sign warns players, “Danger. Do not retrieve balls from the rough. Live mine fields.” The Camp Bonifas course is flanked by military-style bunkers that are separated by an 18-foot high razor-sharp security fence. An errant golf ball has been known to trigger a fiery explosion from one of the numerous mines buried beneath the surrounding grounds. So if your golf swing takes a bad hook it’s not just your face that turns red, the whole damn border lights up! The course was built in 1972 for the 50 or so American soldiers in desperate need of entertainment. The outpost is so desolate and lonely even Starbucks won’t open a shop there so they had no choice but to convert it into a golf course.

Bogota Country Club - The crisp climate of Columbia’s epicenter is said to make the golfing experience at Bogota’s most exclusive course feel like you’re “always playing with the air conditioning on.” Or perhaps that breeze you feel is from a bullet that just whizzed by your head. Try not to let it distract you. Even though it kicked off the PGA Nationwide tour this year, the scenic sanctuary of the Bogota Country Club cannot mask the seedy underside of the country’s fragile political situation. Numerous armed guards patrol the green to keep an eye out for drug smugglers and kidnappers. According to an article in The Daily Beast, no one is allowed to even tour the place without written consent from the manager. The paper said it is rumored that even the Japanese ambassador couldn’t gain membership because he didn’t have the requisite three references from existing members. Skukuza Golf Course – This is probably the only golf course where you yearn to see more trees. That’s because you’ll need something to scramble up into if an angry hippo, hungry lion or bored elephant decides they don’t care much for your silly golf pants. Finding the nearest tree is just one of the rules on this South African golf course along with, “Don’t run away! If you run, the animal will believe that it has gained the advantage and it will be more likely to give chase.” And, “Stay out of the water! Do NOT try to retrieve your ball. There are crocodiles.” For the record, the water is a lake named – un-hilariously – Lake Panic. It’s almost as if the degree of difficulty is measured by how much butt-puckering terror you can maintain while swinging a club. According to reviews, the golf course itself isn’t all that great, it sounds like the biggest draw for golfers with suicidal tendencies is that it allows them to enjoy the kind of scenic safari usually only observed from a moving Jeep. The ninth, and final hole requires you to hit over a family of hippos. In case you didn’t know, hippos are like the Ted Nugents of the animal kingdom: cantankerous and unpredictable. Once they decide to attack there’s almost zero chance of you surviving. However, the managers promise that no golfers have ever been killed; they’re a bit more evasive when you ask how many staff members have been killed..<

> Like the darling buds of May all abloom, the month’s style events and oh-so-social gatherings sprouted warm and inviting petals of optimism in the form of; 1. Good food, 2. Libations, and 3. Stylish people. All three were provided this year in a bouquet of deliciousness called The Taste of Pointe Orlando. The April 29th had a gallery of food samplings to quench guest’s gluttonous cravings. Tavern Opa dished out a cornucopia of spanakopita, one my favorites. As the saying goes, the way to a person’s heart is through the stomach… and pockets - in this case—as the day’s proceeds from those consuming all things tasty went toward a heartwarmingly good cause, the Esophageal Cancer Program at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute. Continuing the theme of full stomachs and fulfilled hearts, the Celebrate the Children 2012 dinner on May 4th gave young honorees’

OH,

MAN!! FUN FACTS

STYLETOME.COM

> If your girlfriend or wife is always complaining that you never really listen to her it’s probably because you don’t. But it’s not your fault! When God created man he did not design the male brain to hear female voices clearly. Maybe it’s God’s subtle attempt at humor. Researchers from the U.K.’s University of Sheffield monitored the brain activity of men as they listened to voice recordings. They found that the high pitch of a woman’s voice is processed more like a melody, which makes it harder for men to hear and understand her. Bachelors, if you have two left feet then you’ll probably have better luck picking up chicks at a convent than a dance club. As you awkwardly flail your arms and legs on the dance floor you might as well be waving a red warning flag that signals to women you’re a less-than-desirable mating partner. Researchers from the University of Hertfordshire found that men who were considered bad dancers had lower-than-average testosterone levels which lets women know -

on a subconscious level - that you’re not up to their baby-making standards. The study doesn‘t take into account the amount of testosterone you have in your bank account, though, which can change things. You know what they say about the size of a man’s feet? He has really big shoes. And that’s about it. In a study of more than 3,000 men, no correlation was found between the self-reported size of feet and that of the crown jewels. Feeling like most men may stretch (ha!) the truth a bit, researchers took matters, uh, into their own hands with this one by personally measuring all 104 feet and penises (stretched to their longest length for consistency, of course). Still, no correlation was found. However, you can still tell a lot about a man from his handshake and it comes down to: the stronger the grip the bigger the bully. Researchers at State University of New York at Albany found that men with strong handshakes had

STYLE

more aggressive male-dominant characteristics. The study also found that the strength of a handshake was mainly determined by the genes, and not by the man’s muscularity. And apparently shaking a man’s hand is more sanitary than a woman’s. Researchers at the University of Colorado analyzed bacteria they gathered from the hands of college students. They found that each person carried an average of about 150 species of bacteria on their hands. However, women carried twice the number of bacteria species than men did, even though women wash their hands more often and are more sanitary. Scientists do not know the reason for the difference - they could only speculate (male hormones, male-skin acidity?). What do you get if you eat beans and onions? Tear Gas. (I’ll pause until the men stop snickering). There’s a reason women are rolling their eyes right now; they have a classier sense of humor than men. Stanford University researchers gave men and women humorous cartoons to look at while having their brains monitored with an MRI. Men showed a lot less activity in their brains than women (surprise!). Men expected the cartoons to be funny and started laughing sooner without much thought. Women would analyze the cartoons (probably asking 10 different friends what they thought the cartoon was really trying to say, whether that was a good or bad sign and if they think there will be a second cartoon) and their brains showed that they experienced more delight with each cartoon. Despite that, the brains of adult men are actually about 10% larger in total size than the brains of women. But before you get a big head, it’s not necessarily because you use them more but because men generally have a larger stature and more muscle mass than women so their brains require more neurons to control the body. Does your wife think you stack the dishwasher like a feces-throwing monkey? It’s best to just agree with her and apologize if you want a happier marriage, although you’ve probably already figured that out. Researchers at Iowa State University spent actual time and money surveying 72 couples and found that women tend to control household matters because their opinions on their homes, families, household chores, etc. were very, VERY strong. And apparently

husbands were happier if they let their wife be the boss over these household decisions. Husbands who had opinions about these issues were more likely to be involved in spousal arguments. The running joke is that marriage signals the end of a rabid sex life, but it seems “I do” applies in the bedroom more often than you think. A study by the National Opinion Research Center found that husbands get lucky at least 28% more often than bachelors, depending on their age. If your first name is Michael, James or David you’re already a step ahead of most men when it comes to getting a promotion or finding a date (just ask James Bond). That’s according to psychologist Richard Wiseman who studied 6,000 people and found that men with those names were perceived as more successful, luckier and, yes, more attractive. On the other hand, if your name is George or Paul just accept the fact that your life will be plagued by loneliness, bad luck and low-paying jobs. Those names went out with the Beatles, apparently. But there may still be hope for you if you‘re left-handed. Johns Hopkins University and Lafayette College researchers found that left-handed men who graduate from college make 26% more than their right-handed counterparts. Go ahead and order a regular Coke instead of diet with your super-sized meal. The more weight you pack on the happier you’ll be. Researchers in Boston studied 45,000 men and discovered that fat men are 42% less likely to commit suicide than men with no extra weight. This was not the case with women. The next time you go to buy a car the salesman may know just the trick to get you to upgrade: threaten your masculinity. In a study done by Cornell University researchers, two groups of men were given a bogus analysis. Men in one group were told that they exhibited weak masculine characteristics, and the men in the other group were told that they did not. The men whose masculinity was questioned were much more likely to support wars and convey a desire to own an SUV. Women can literally smell fear on you, and it empowers them! Rice University re-

“Does your wife think you stack the dishwasher like a feces-throwing monkey? It’s best to just agree with her and apologize if you want a happier marriage, although you’ve probably already figured that out.” searchers gathered sweat from two groups of men: some who watched a horror movie and others who did not get scared. They asked a group of women to smell the sweat and complete language quizzes. Women who smelled the sweat of the scared men did much better than women who smelled the sweat of men who were not scared. Maybe this is why women feel sharper when they’re planning a wedding? Men rely on their sense of smell to help them choose a mate. In fact, men are supposedly driven into a lust-filled craze when they catch a whiff of a woman’s body odor while she’s ovulating. That’s because she’s releasing a cocktail of pheromones that signal she’s at her peak baby making, and on an animalistic level, it appeals to men. A study done on female strippers found that those who were ovulating made 50% more tips than those who were not. However, your sense of smell can also play tricks on you, especially when grapefruit is involved. A study from the Smell and Taste Institute found that men perceived the smell of grapefruit as “younger.” Researchers dabbed middle-aged women with different scents including banana, mint, lavender and grapefruit. Then they asked young male volunteers to smell the women and guess their ages. When the grapefruit was tested the volunteers consistently reported the age as six years younger then they actually were. With all the other scents, there was no difference in age perception. One theory is that the grapefruit aroma could have sexually aroused the men, clouding their judgment, or even could have acted as a stress buster.<

> Even lighter, even more powerful, even more captivating: The Audi R8 GT Spyder delivers breathtaking performance. The open-top flagship version of the highperformance sports car develops 412 kW (560 hp) and – thanks to Audi ultra – has trimmed a full 85 kilograms (187.39 lb) from an already low weight. The R8 GT Spyder accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 317 km/h (196.97 mph). The Audi ultra lightweight technology is the key to the R8 GT Spyder’s weight of just 1,640 kilograms (3,615.58 lb). That’s 85 kilograms (187.39 lb) less than its technical basis, the R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI quattro. The Audi Space Frame (ASF) body, consisting of cast nodes, extruded sections and aluminum panels, accounts for just 214 kilograms (471.79 lb) of the total weight. The body is assembled predominantly by hand in the R8 workshop at the Neckarsulm plant. Final assembly of the car takes place in the same way. The engine frame is made of ultra-light magnesium; the long cover over the soft-

top compartment and the large side panels at the rear are made of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). CFRP is also used for the modified front spoiler, the fixed rear spoiler and the new rear bumper. Together, these components provide a weight saving of 5.5 kilograms (12.13 lb). Visual modifications accentuate the styling of the R8 GT Spyder. These include add-on parts in contrasting titanium gray, a front splitter with a dual lip, flics at the sides of the front bumper, red GT badges, round exhaust tailpipes, an enlarged diffuser and dark LED tail lights in a clear-glass design. Audi offers an optional windshield frame in matt CFRP. Audi engineers also trimmed weight from the technical components in the area of the transmission, wheels and brakes. In the interior, the bucket seats alone, with their chassis of glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP), saved 31.5 kilograms (69.45 lb) of weight. In classic Audi fashion, the R8 GT Spyder features a lightweight fabric soft top that is extremely quiet and fully suitable for

highway cruising. Its electrohydraulic drive brings it up or down in 19 seconds, even at speeds up to 50 km/h (31.07 mph). The extendible glass rear window is nestled in the bulkhead, separate from the soft top. Integrated in the bulkhead is a rollover protection system comprising two pretensioned plates. PRODIGIOUS POWER: THE DRIVETRAIN

The performance offered by the new topof-the-line model in the R8 family is formidable. The 5.2-liter V10 with an aluminum crankcase draws its fuel from an FSI direct injection system. Dry-sump lubrication ensures a reliable supply of oil even under maximum lateral or straight-line acceleration. With its modified electronic management, the long-stroke engine produces 540 Nm (398.28 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 rpm, and its peak output is 412 kW (560 hp). Each unit of horsepower has only 2.93 kilograms (6.46 lb) to move. The R8 GT Spyder catapults from zero to

100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 317 km/h (196.97 mph). In every situation, the engine impresses with its thrust and bite – and that unmistakable sound of an Audi ten-cylinder. The R8 GT Spyder comes standard with an automated six-speed R tronic transmission with two fully automatic modes. In the additional manual mode, the driver can shift gears using the paddles on the steering wheel or by flicking the joystick. At high load and revs, gear changes take only onetenth of a second. The launch control program manages the starting sprint with high engine speed and precision-control of the tire slip. The quattro permanent all-wheel drive has a strong rear-wheel bias, granted by the axle load distribution. If the situation calls for it, the system sends additional torque to the front axle. In tandem with the limited slip differential at the rear, it provides an added measure of traction, stability and cornering speed, giving it a strong lead over the rearwheel-drive competition.

The suspension, too, is unrivaled in its performance. Aluminum double wishbones locate the wheels, and the rack-and-pinion power steering provides intimate contact with the road. Taut tuning lowers the body by approximately 10 millimeters (0.39 in). The open high-performance sports car has 19-inch wheels, with 235/35 tires up front and 295/30 tires at the rear. The large, lightweight carbon-fiber ceramic brake discs decelerate the car with supreme ease. The ESP stabilization program has a sport mode and can also be deactivated entirely. PURE COMFORT: THE INTERIOR AND EQUIPMENT

Great attention to detail is evident in the materials and workmanship inside the car. The salient aspect of the controls is their logically structured design. The open twoseater offers a roomy interior, and its front end can accommodate up to 100 liters (3.53 cu. ft) of cargo. The rear bulkhead houses three storage compartments. The interior is black and can be adorned with stitching in a choice of titanium gray

or crimson for added refinement. Alcantara upholstery comes standard – on the sport steering wheel and windshield frame, too. Audi also offers leather in fine Nappa quality. Numerous details – including white dials and R8 GT logos – provide classy accents. The distinctive R8 “monoposto,” a large arch encircling the driver’s cockpit, is made of matt CFRP. Audi ultra requires no sacrifice on the part of R8 GT Spyder owners. The standard equipment includes LED headlights, LED tail lights, an automatic air conditioning system, the navigation system plus, an alarm system and the driver information system with a built-in laptimer. Audi also offers a sophisticated sound system from Bang & Olufsen and a Bluetooth interface including a seatbelt microphone for carrying on a phone conversation conveniently. Options specific to the R8 GT include bucket seats with a carbon-fiber composite chassis, matt CFRP applications and embroidered logos on the seat upholstery.<

Celeb Dads That Sizzle! THESE 10 BABY DADDIES MAKE FATHERHOOD LOOK SO GOOD. By: Holly V. Kapherr Read more at: StyleToMe.com

> If you’ve been paying attention to all the latest gossip, you’ll know the baby bug has bitten Hollywood starlets – Jessica Simpson, Beyoncé, Alyson Hannigan, Tori Spelling’s on her fourth, and even the Kardashians are in the thick of strollers, car seats and debates about public breastfeeding. We’ve got some hot mamas in the spotlight, and with them come some super sweet papas, too. Since we can all agree that there’s nothing sexier than a man toting around some cute kiddos, here’s our list of Hollywood’s hottest dads. David Beckham - The L.A. Galaxy midfielder and international soccer superstar’s got four little ones with fashion designer and wife of 12 years, Victoria (Posh Spice). Joining their three boys, Cruz, Brooklyn and Romeo, they just welcomed little girl Harper Seven, whose middle name is a nod to Beckham’s jersey number while he played for Manchester United. His cutest dad moment? When the kids rushed the field after the Galaxy won the MLS championship last year and David lifted them all up like his little trophies. Matthew McConaughey – Daddy to Malibu cuties Levi and baby Vida, he isn’t

Jude Law

the kind of dad that takes his hotness too seriously. Okay, so he’s been named Sexiest Man in the World about a billion times, but recently McConaughey got a little picky on the set when he refused to take photos with his kids but without their mother, and (gasp!) shirtless. C’mon, Matt, disturb the peace a little with your perfect pecs. Brad Pitt – You could say it’s impossible not to include Brad on any “hottest” list, so we won’t even try. The dad of five (Zahara, Shiloh, Maddox, Vivienne and Knox) has put together a cohesive family in a kaleidoscope of personalities and nationalities with Angelina Jolie. We love how he fosters his kids’ individuality and, of course, the superstar face that’s only getting handsomer with age. Jude Law – When he’s not lighting up the silver screen with his crazy chemistry with Robert Downey, Jr. in a Sherlock Holmes flick, this Brit is spending time with his four sweeties (Iris, Sophia, Rafferty and Rudy) on the beach in Cali or England. Those blonde curls and impish grin are Law’s trademarks, but his striking good looks are magnified by the devotion he shows his babies.

Scott Disick

Johnny Depp

Robert Downey, Jr.

Gavin Rossdale – Oh, the allure of the rocker dad.The Bush frontman and husband of 10 years to No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani has led the two to parent three adorable pixies (Zuma, Kingston and Daisy). Gavin is notoriously known for spending beaucoup time with his kiddos as well as vacationing with his honey when she’s not setting style trends for the rest of the nation’s children with her fashion line Harajuku Mini for Target. Robert Downey, Jr. – Talk about a Hollywood come-from-behind victory. America’s sexiest superhero is not only believable as a world-famous playboy, philanthropist, and genius as Iron Man, he’s fought his addictions and come out on top, as loving husband to Susan Downey and father to Exton and Indio. He’s distinguished and likeable, and time has been very, very good to his looks. Will Smith – Despite the rumors that he and Jada were splitting, they seem to be still very much together and parents to three sweet ones, Willow, Trey and little starlet Jaden. The Men in Black III star is absolutely America’s sweetheart with fabulous

Ben Affleck

comedic timing and a sweet smile that won’t quit. You gotta know he’s a clown at home, too, making his little ones laugh as much as possible. We’ll let him devote as much time as he wants to fatherhood as long as he keeps turning out summer blockbusters to keep us cool inside the movie theatre. Scott Disick – Okay, so he’s not an A-lister (yet), but Disick’s the daddy of Kourtney Kardashian’s baby number two and we think he’s got a face to match that multimillion-dollar net worth of his. Those steely blue eyes and chiseled features just scream superrich, and it looks like Kourtney thinks he’s perfect for a permanent position while everyone else keeps up – the wedding’s planned for later this year, but it won’t be anything like Kim’s scandalous nuptials. Ben Affleck – Daddyhood looks great on Ben, and we love shots of him spending time with his little one,Violet, and wife of 7 years, Jennifer Garner. Talk about a cute family. Ben’s taken a little hiatus from acting, and that’s okay. He’s spending most of his time producing films instead as well as focusing on getting in shape and being the best dad he can be. That’s hot.

Will Smith

Johnny Depp – Go big or go home, right? While we love just about everything Depp does, from his cameo in the reboot of 21 Jump Street to his campy vampire in Dark Shadows among everything else, we also love that he’s got a soft spot for his little sweethearts, Lily-Rose and John. From Captain Jack Sparrow’s quirky sex appeal, Depp’s the dad next door you wish you could watch change the oil in the driveway every now and then. <

Henry “Hank” Didier, Jr. A CONSUMER ADVOCATE IN AND OUT OF THE COURTROOM Read more at: StyleToMe.com

> Henry “Hank” N. Didier, Jr. doesn’t just want to be a good trial lawyer. He considers himself a consumer advocate as well. He has found a way to do both through his two current roles – one as a plaintiff’s attorney focused on product safety issues, and the other as co-founder of a financial services firm that specializes in helping former plaintiffs if they need to sell their structured settlements. “Being a good lawyer is not just about getting the best result, said Didier. “It’s about making sure your hard work will provide a lasting legacy.” That’s where Vantage Capital Consultants comes in. Didier describes his role at Vantage as not conventional or easy, but as necessary. He and his partner, fellow lawyer Jay Fisher, saw a need and did something about it. Most lawyers he knows were offering little to no help to former clients seeking advice on selling their structured settlement or annuity, either because they did not appreciate the magnitude of the problem, or simply because they had no idea what advice to give or what options may exist. But he knew that was only exasperating the problem. “These folks needed candid advice and couldn’t find any, leaving them at the mercy of television and internet advertising companies in an unregulated marketplace” he added.

STYLETOME.COM

Through the years, he has put countless clients into structured settlements because he believes that they are a great vehicle for long-term stability. “But, circumstances changed, and many people are struggling in today’s economy,” said Didier. “Undoing structured settlements isn’t always popular, or even the best financial decision, but it’s happening, and people need a resource where they can get the information they need to make informed decisions. We try to find alternatives or talk people out of selling, but sometimes there is no other choice.” As a lawyer, Didier holds manufacturers accountable for the safety of their products through his product liability practice. With offices in Orlando and Tampa, the Didier Law Firm specializes in the litigation of complex auto accidents, truck accidents and product liability cases, often involving tire failures, rollover accidents, or unsafe airbags.

it’s a huge safety issue as there is no better or more effective way to lessen or prevent fatal or catastrophic head injuries in side impact accidents.” “We see it all the time, where the driver walks away from an accident and the child may be brain injured or dead. Headprotecting airbags such as curtain airbags are the best way to prevent a head injury in a side impact car accident,” he said. So whether it’s advocating for consumers in front of a jury, or helping guide a former plaintiff to a better financial decision, he finds himself breaking new ground in many battles. “When people need help, we need to be there. It’s about treating people fairly, thinking outside the box, and going above and beyond.”<

“We want to hold manufacturers to a higher standard, especially when it comes to consumer safety,” he said. His focus right now is on raising awareness of the lack of head-protecting side airbags for backseat passengers. “There are still cars on the road that do not have side airbags to prevent head injuries past the first row, which is oftentimes where children are sitting. BUSINESS

> Bernie Madoff is, or was, a celebrity all right, but the kind of celebrity you’ll see in a lineup rather than on the silver screen. In the “roaring early 90’s” Madoff was the talk of the financial world. In March 2009, he pleaded guilty to 11 federal felonies and admitted to turning his wealth management business into a massive Ponzi scheme that defrauded thousands of investors, out of billions of dollars. In light of such fraud, how can investors, large and small, invest with confidence and know that they are dealing with a reputable advisor?

How Can You Invest With Confidence? STARGAZING: INSIDE THE WORLD OF PRIVATE WEALTH MANAGEMENT

By: Tony S. Keena Read more at: StyleToMe.com

One way is to research the company and individual advisor you are considering dealing with, it’s pretty simple these days. I happen to be affiliated with Ameritas Investment Corp (AIC), which holds us accountable through annual audits and regular compliance approvals. During our annual audit, auditors have access to our business and personal bank records to ensure that our clients’ checks have not been cashed. In addition, we are subject to surprise audits by FINRA, Ameritas Investment Corp’s governing body. Audits are designed to ensure that each affiliated financial advisor adheres to the rules and regulations determined by the industry for the protection of investors. We do not “custody” assets. This is a very important point to note. An advisor has custody of assets when he/she has possession of clients funds or securities, or has any authority to obtain them. We do not hold your assets, nor do you make checks payable to me. In essence, we never take possession of the money you plan to invest. We transmit your monies to the investment companies we have agreed to use for your personal situation.

Overly consistent returns: Investments tend to go up and down over time, especially those seeking high returns. Be suspect of an investment that continues to generate regular, positive returns regardless of overall market conditions. Unregistered Investments: Ponzi schemes typically involve investments that have not been registered with state regulators. Registration is important because it provides investors with access to key information about the company’s management, products, services, and finances. Unlicensed sellers: Federal and state securities law requires investment professionals and their firms to be licensed or registered. Many Ponzi schemes involve unlicensed individuals or unregistered firms. Secretive and/or complex strategies: Avoiding investments you don’t understand or for which you can’t get complete information. FIVE QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE INVESTING

•Is the seller licensed? •Is the investment registered? •How does the risk compare with the rewards? Does it sound too good to be true? •Do I understand the investment? •Where can I turn for help? If you’re aware of an investment opportunity that might be a Ponzi scheme, contact the SEC by phone at (800) 732-0330 or online at http://www.sec.gov/complaint.shtml

COMPUTER DATA AND YOUR RIGHT TO PRIVACY BY MARK L. HORWITZ > Many people think that personal information on a home computer is private. In reality, that is not correct.

Contents of home computers are not protected from government intrusion and are often seized or copied by law enforcement under various circumstances including the use of search warrants. A recent case has given hope to those who believe that the right to privacy should protect home computers. The case considered the Fifth Amendment rather than the Fourth Amendment (which deals with searches), but the case is still important to the right of privacy and to search and seizure issues. In this recent case, the government subpoenaed a person to produce and decrypt files on his computer when the government’s experts could not decrypt the files protected by “TrueCrypt” software. The person refused to decrypt the files when ordered by the court and was

held in contempt. On appeal, the court ruled that the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination prohibited the government from forcing the person to provide the decryption codes. Many believe that the right to store private information on a computer should be free from government intrusion and protected, not only by the Fifth Amendment, but also by the right of privacy. In this case, the court held that a person can not be forced to provide a decryption code to enable the government to discover decrypted files.< The Law Offices of Mark L. > Last years medical experts debated whether annual PSA screening might do more harm than good for some men. Although this confusing and confounding issue has yet to be answered, a new European Research study adds a new angle to this controversy by reporting that men who received routine prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests were 30 percent less likely to die from the disease.

Do Routine ProstateSpecific Antigen (PSA) Tests Actually Save Lives?

The study, which appears in the issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, tracked more than 182,000 men, age 55-69, from eight European countries including Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland for an 11-year period. During this decade, men were randomly assigned to groups: one who received PSA screening and one who did not. The study observed a primary outcome in mortality with a 30 percent drop in death rate among the men who underwent routine PSA tests. However, study also found that prostate cancer screening had no effect on men’s “all-cause mortality.” The lack of an effect on the allcause mortality suggests that men are likely to die at the same age from another cause without the test.

By: Cathleen K. Bode Credits: Alexandra Tamashiro

Dr. Otis Brawley, chief medical officer of the American Cancer Society, questioned the validity of the study by stating that only two countries, Sweden and the Netherlands, showed a significant reduction of prostate cancer deaths from PSA screening and that concluded the overall results.

“There is little doubt that a man who undergoes testing will have about a 30 percent less chance of dying from prostate cancer,” said the study’s lead

::

author, Dr. Fritz Schroder, professor of urology at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands. “On the other side, there’s a 30 percent chance that a cancer found is insignificant and the patient may be confronted with the side effects of treatment unnecessarily.” Like any other cancer diagnostic tool, early PSA screening of prostate cancer is vital to detecting the disease early, but does the test actually save lives? Most prostate cancer grow so slowly that it will not cause a problem or affect the quality of these men’s lives because the cancer may never spread beyond the prostate gland. In addition, not all prostate cancers need treatment. Treatment for prostate cancer may have risks and side effects, including urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction or bowel dysfunction. Treating some prostate cancer could worsen the situation instead of improving the cancer. Many men with prostate cancer are elderly and have no other health problems related to cancer. For them, an early detection of prostate cancer wouldn’t be helpful if they had other more important health problems they need to worry about. In addition, prostate biopsy is needed to find out detailed results of PSA testing which the procedure can accompany complications such as bleeding or infections. All men should talk about PSA testing with their doctor and learn about all the risks, benefits, and limits of this test. Then decide whether you should have the PSA test at all, and if so, how often. <

Dr. Palceski – Ask The Expert: The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Skin Care #1 Get A Skin Exam Once A Year A study conducted by the National Cancer Institute showed that fifty percent more melanoma cases occurred in women ages 15 to 39 in 2011 than in 1980. The lesson here? Everyone needs to get a skin cancer screening with a dermatologist once a year. You should also check yourself every month, remembering to examine less-obvious places such as your scalp, the soles of your feet, and under your nails. My suggestion, get your birthday suit checked on your birthday.

Dr. Palceski looks forward to hearing from you and will be accepting questions at drp@reflectionsdermatology.com or call 407-895-8818 Dr. Palceski is a Board Certified Dermatologist and Dermatologic Surgeon and is the founder of Reflections Dermatology & Center for Skin Care. #2 Avoid Tanning Beds /Use Sunscreen Self-tanner? Fine. The real thing? Not so fine. Any pigment change from UVA or UVB light can cause premature aging and increase the likelihood of developing skin cancer. Tanning beds can be even worse, since they emit concentrated UVA light, which has been found to penetrate deeper than the combination of UVA and UVB rays found in natural sunlight. In fact, tanning beds have been found to increase one’s risk of developing melanoma by 76% and are considered on par with arsenic and mustard gas in the top cancer risk category. Your best bet? Avoid tanning beds, use a self tanner, and

protect your skin every day by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30. My personal favorite? Elta MD Sport with 50 SPF. #3 Exfoliate… Gently While squeaky-clean pores may initially feel good, harsh cleansing or too much exfoliating can actually exacerbate oil production and worsen breakouts by spreading bacteria. A gentle alternative? Use a glycolic peel every 4-6 weeks. #4 Pick The Right Products For Your Skin Type Using products that are wrong for your skin type is a common mistake and can actually create more problems than they fix. Schedule an appointment with a knowledgeable professional to help assess your skin type and what products will be most appropriate in helping you achieve your personal skin care goals. Don’t forget, skin care shouldn’t stop at your jaw-line. #5 Cleanse – Even At Night Letting skin marinate in makeup— not to mention a day’s worth of oil buildup—can lead to clogged pores and breakouts, especially if you’re

prone to acne. As you sleep, your body temperature increases slightly which can enhance absorption of whatever’s on the surface. So, wash your face every night and consider using a Clarisonic Brush proven to remove 6 x more dirt, oil, and makeup than manual cleansing alone. #6 Stop Picking I know it’s tempting, but the reality is that squeezing a blemish can push bacteria deeper into the pores, causing inflammation, infection, and scarring. In addition, it extends the healing process of a blemish from approximately 1 week to 2. So, “stop picking” and go see a dermatologist who will work to get you on a good skin care regimen to fight breakouts. #7 Use A Retinoid Retinoids minimize the appearance of existing age spots and fine lines and prevent new ones from forming. I particularly like the Avene line of retrinal products for patients who are just acclimating to the use of retinoids. For those ready for something a bit stronger, there are a variety of prescription retinoids of varying strengths on the market including Retina A, Atralin, and Tazorac.

> Most orthodontic problems are inherited. Examples of these problems are crowding, spacing, protrusion, extra or missing teeth and some jaw growth problems. Other malocclusions are acquired by finger sucking, dental disease, accidents, the early or late loss of primary (baby) teeth, or other causes.

CHOOSING THE OPTIMAL TIME FOR ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT While orthodontic treatment most often begins between the ages of 9 and 14, some orthodontic problems are easier to correct if they are treated early. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that your child get an orthodontic check up at age 7. If it appears that treatment will be needed, your orthodontist can advise you as the ideal time to begin. This gives your orthodontist the best chance to: • Guide jaw growth • Lower the risk of trauma to protruded front teeth • Correct harmful oral habits • Improve appearance • Guide permanent teeth into a more favorable position • Improve the way lips meet WHY IS TREATMENT SO IMPORTANT?

They receive an additional two to three years of specialized education beyond dental school to learn to align and straighten teeth and bites. Your smile is your greeting to the world. It’s also an important part of your dental health - the alignment of your teeth, so show them off. As a general dentist it is important that I have a team of specialists I work with. DON‘T MISS THE BEAT

Rising Country Music Star Jake Owen By: Megan Hyde Read more at: StyleToMe.com

> In June, we pay thorough attention to all things men and celebrate intently here at Orlando Style. There is one thing to be said about male musicians especially; they sure know how to keep an audience’s attention! Since the days of Elvis being “too provocative” and getting censored from the waist down to the way Bon Jovi has consistently amped up crowds for a few generations, you just can’t help but appreciate the talent, the raw emotion, and yes of course the often good looks of these fellows. One gent in particular is steadily earning a solid name in the business and has all of the previously mentioned qualities to contribute. Rising country music star Jake Owen has a humble, charming, manly and rugged appeal. Whether he’s rocking out with his party anthem hits or causing a swooning effect with his love ballads, one thing is constant: people everywhere love this guy. Having been in the mainstream spotlight since around 2005, Jake is certainly a leader in generating amazing, catchy music. It’s absolutely safe to say this Florida native has arrived for the rest of the world to love.

to write his own music and from there a dream ignited. As time moved on, Jake realized he could dig this for a career. Pretty soon he was playing in local bars and relishing in the glory of crowds taking in his music. His journey started to become clear; just prior to graduating from college he headed to Nashville to take a chance.

Born in 1981 not far from The City Beautiful, Jake hails from sandy east coast town of Vero Beach. With a an early love for everything under the sun, water and sports, Jake and his fraternal twin brother kept themselves enjoying life one day at a time through a variety of activities centered on these interests. Come college time, the Owen brothers headed north to Florida State University. Although a part of the school’s golf team, with a desire to go professional in the sport, Jake’s intentions for it ended after injuring himself severely while wake boarding. Bummed out and looking for something to occupy time, Jake made a fateful move one day; he picked up a guitar, despite having one arm in a sling, and began strumming. He began

Three albums and numerous hit songs from each have all been a part of this entertainer’s journey so far. Having toured already with musical greats like Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney and Sugarland, Jake established himself quickly as his own person with unique lyrics and a velvety smooth voice. He’s earned and maintained an audience. Realizing he did not have it as rough as other artists starting out, Jake values his climb to the top as his own journey. He knows everyone’s story is their own. One moment solidifying his success was in 2009 when Jake took home the Male Vocalist of the Year award from the Academy of Country Music. A proud moment indeed, this truly signified achievement.

Knowing it could be a long haul but certainly a fun one at the least, Jake knew he was up for the challenge. Taking risks and pushing himself has been something he’s done most of his life. He knew if he kept working feverishly and with a purpose, he would have opportunities to succeed. As long as he remembered to cherish every part, good or bad, he could stand taller. Once Jake arrived in town though, it wasn’t long before he took off. Very briefly he was a shadow amongst well-established names in the business but within less than a year, Jake had his first successful hits, “Yee Haw” and “Startin’ with Me.” These songs provoked success and suddenly fans wanted to know more about the goodlooking, shaggy haired country crooner.

DON‘T MISS THE BEAT

Despite several tours under his belt and regardless of being summoned for many late night show stops, with each host desiring interviews and performances, Jake has definitely not forgotten where he comes from. Never mind currently being named one of Entertainment Weekly’s “30 Greatest Artists Right Now” for all genres, or being in People Country Magazine’s “Hottest Guys” issue, Jake keeps moving through his day to day life. Heading back to his Vero Beach hometown as much as he can, he has participated in local charity events and is known to stop in at local hot spots to sing a few tunes for the folks who have stood behind him from his start. One of his latest hits, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” perfectly defines what it was like growing up in the community he did. Jake is incredibly proud of his hometown and this just may explain a lot of his success; if you don’t forget who you are, no one else will either. As for right now, Jake is literally in a honeymoon phase of life; he recently wed model Lacey Buchanan in his hometown right on the beach. Lacey was his costar in his videos for both “8 Second Ride” and also in “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.” Both natives of the sunshine state, Jake realized at a performance in Florida this past April, they would never have more of their family and friends around them and felt it was the perfect time to seal their fate together. He spontaneously proposed to Lacey without even having a ring for the moment! His video costar agreed to be his forever leading lady and although they toyed with the media about when they would be tying the knot, Jake and his bride wed in early May. Both looked fabulous and in love while fully embracing the sand beneath, and between their toes as they wed barefoot at their sunrise ceremony. Jake has no hesitation about sharing his devotion to his wife and believes she makes him a better man every day. Who doesn’t love to hear that?

::

To the generous sponsors of the 2012 Taste of Pointe Orlando, thank you for making our event a huge success.

With a thriving music career, a loyal and devoted fan base, and a brand new bride, how can Jake not be loving life? His most recent hit “Alone with You” currently holds the number 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Because of his prior success with “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” this makes back-to-back top charted songs for Jake from the same album. His success gives new meaning to the expression, “the hits just keep on coming!” Overall, this guy proves you can be a well-rounded individual and chase a dream even if it wasn’t your original plan. If you go for something, go full force and only look back to reflect and give thanks. <

All proceeds benefitted the Esophageal Cancer Program at Florida Hospital’s Cancer Institute.

BEST FRIENDS

should be sufficient. Most dogs can handle a lot of exercise; so don’t be afraid to get out there. Keep your pet’s age in mind, though. We all know our dogs would go to great lengths to impress us, so refrain from taking your senior dog on a long run, as they might exert themselves too much. Many other past studies have shown that dogs are linked to better overall health. Blood pressure and cholesterol, two very important physical factors, have been known to reduce with pet ownership. Stress levels have also been shown to significantly reduce with canine companions. These three factors can wreak havoc on your health if they are too high, so a dog is a great way to keep them low!

> Wondering how to get in shape this summer without joining the gym? The answer may be no further than the friend laying at your feet. No, we’re not referring to the friend that crashed on your couch last night, but rather your favorite pooch. A newly released study from Michigan State University proves that having a dog is not just good for your mental health, but for your physical activity level as well. The study collected data from 5,902 adults, 41% of whom owned a dog. Now, all adults are recommended to get at least 150 minutes of exercise per day. However, of the group surveyed, dog owners were 34% more likely to reach their suggested activity level than non-dog owners. And with so many ways to get exercise with your pooch at your side, there’s no room for excuses. If you enjoy the thrill of a good run, take your dog jogging! It’s a great way to get your heart in shape, and keep your dog muscular and lean. If you’re of a more laid-back nature, a calm 30- minute walk through the park

STYLETOME.COM

So there you have it- dogs are a proven way to help you get in shape, get outside, and be a happier person overall. Besides, you never know what’s right outside your front door. One lucky walk through the park and you may run into your dog-loving dream gal or guy. <

> If you’re in the scene then you know the mixology movement has been going on for a while now. You see the shows on T.V. with talented bartenders creating amazing flavors with both food and drink. You cannot go to one big city without hearing about the best bar to get the best and most creative drinks. While some might argue about whether Orlando is considered a big city or not, I know we have amazing bartenders creating amazing drinks right here in our own backyard. How do I know this? I am one of them!! All playing aside I have been fortunate enough to work next to and meet some talented bartenders all around Orlando. I have tried many concoctions that come from their wonderfully demented and creative minds. Such was the case on Wednesday, May 9th at the XL gallery lounge located in downtown Orlando. Infinium Spirits Bartender Challenge held a contest featuring some of their top of the line bartender playthings, or as most of you would say, liquor products. The categories

featured Crystal Head Vodka, Zaya Rum, Casa Noble Tequila and a fourth using one of the products in the Infinium Spirits catalog. Each bartender had to create a cocktail in each of the four categories. The bartenders hailed from many of our top-notch restaurants and lounges in the area. While all the drinks tasted that evening were all prepared and executed well, only a handful could walk away with top honors. In the Crystal Head vodka category, Adam Corbett from the restaurant Sonoma ran away with the prize with his Crystal of the Orient cocktail. Amber Shaw from Shari Sushi snatched up the Zaya rum category with her impressive, Press On Zaya. The drink featured pressed apples, fresh limejuice, pomegranate juice and a splash of soda. She also won the Casa Noble tequila division with a fun drink with the best name of the night, All the Shake With No Morning Headache. In the Other category Jordan Badran from the Stardust Lounge pleased our palettes with the Orange Booty.

The drink was a surprisingly clean blend of Borghetti Sambuca, Salerno Blood Orange liquor and fresh squeezed blood oranges. After tallying up all the points the overall winner of the night was Amber Shaw from Shari. She won a trip to New Orleans to represent the state of Florida and Infinium Spirits in New Orleans. Congratulations to Amber and everyone for their outstanding skills in mixology. Just remember when you’re out with your friends at a local restaurant or bar/lounge to ask for the drink menu. There’s a good chance you will find original cocktails created by the bartender. My theory has always been that you won’t get a better drink than the one made by its originator. I would be willing to bet Orlando has some of the most talented bartenders creating some amazing cocktails. So take a chance and let them take you on a new ride for you and your taste buds. You might just like it. <
