F. Curtis Bryan II, MD
Bayfront Health Medical Group Cardiovascular Curtis Bryan, MD, is a cardiothoracic surgeon with Bayfront Health Medical Group, bringing 25 years of experience in a variety of healthcare roles, including medical director, chief of surgery and attending staff surgeon. As a highly skilled and experienced surgeon board-certified in thoracic surgery, Dr. Bryan treats complex heart and lung conditions. Practicing since 1997, his expertise includes heart valve repair and replacement, percutaneous valve repair and replacement therapies, surgery for electrical heart disorders, coronary artery bypass grafting, and removal of cardiac masses. Using a range of advanced surgeries and other techniques, Dr. Bryan’s goal is to return every patient to their best possible health. Dr. Bryan has been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in thoracic and cardiac surgery since 2018. He has served on numerous clinical and executive hospital committees and held memberships in several professional organizations over the years. These memberships include the American College of Healthcare Executives, American College of Cardiology, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, South Atlantic Cardiovascular Society, and Florida Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians and the Southeastern Surgical Congress. Dr. Bryan has been involved in several research studies, most recently as a member of the multicenter registry for Percutaneous Debulking Interventions in Infective Endocarditis, a primary investigator for the CytoSorbents STAR-T and STAR-D Trial, and a sub-investigator for the Edwards Lifesciences CLASP Trial for Functional MR. He also has authored articles for medical publications and presented at various gatherings, including the South Atlantic Cardiovascular Society. Following undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Bryan earned his medical degree and graduated cum laude from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He completed his residencies in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, where he served as chief resident and administrative chief resident, respectively. He also was a fellow in cardiothoracic surgery at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals. He further performed a research fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the CarlyleFraser Heart Center, also in Atlanta, and is a graduate of the Harvard Medical School Surgical Leadership Program. Dr. Bryan also completed the Ironman World Championship triathlon in Kona, Hawaii.
