NATURAL Inspiration

Natural Inspiration INSPIRATION 2017 There must be a reason why Pantone has chosen Greenery as its color for 2017: inspired by nature and the environment, this shade is fresh and revitalizing, symbolizing new beginnings and a break from the hectic pace of everyday life. These days, we have an increasing desire to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the natural world, restoring our connection to the surrounding environment, even in the way we furnish our homes. Color is important, but harmony with nature is created by using materials of natural origin, such as wood and marble, which can last a lifetime and then be handed down. These are materials that contribute towards creating a pleasant sensation of warmth and naturalness, while ensuring strength and durability. Additionally, by making use of their special aesthetic features, such as their color and natural grain, we can create pieces that are different from each other and therefore unique. Shape also plays an important role: "everything you can imagine, nature has already created," claimed Albert Einstein, and indeed architecture and design freely seek inspiration from this idea, offering shapes and solutions derived from the creations of a divine being. Just think of Leonardo da Vinci who invented his Flying Machine based on his studies of the anatomy of birds. Mother Nature is considered the best designer in the universe, partly because she can adapt form to the specific function required. The two divinities, art and nature, have always gone hand in hand, competing to be the primary inventor of shapes. Nature thus becomes a model, measure and guide for designing objects that are part of our lives.

COLOGNE News

To mark the IMM Cologne 2017 fair – ‌Giorgetti presented its first outdoor collection designed by Chi Wing Lo and Ludovica+Roberto Palomba: an extensive, diverse range to complement Giorgetti's projects in an area of residential design where relaxation and a more sociable lifestyle are usually the main considerations. The fair in Cologne also saw the launch of Progetti Pure, the limited-edition piece for 2017 that is the first of four "Progetti30" designs created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Progetti collection. Other novelties include the Alma desk designed by Pamela Amine, a student of Istituto Marangoni Milano The School of Design, which shows how Giorgetti helps raise awareness of new young architects, and the Shibori boiserie that will further enhance the Giorgetti Atmosphere catalogue of accessories. In the city center, at Kaiser-Wilhelm-Ring, Giorgetti's showrooms, refined in every detail, present a display in which design, architecture and style come together to reveal the world of Giorgetti. Arranged over two floors, the German store is a meeting point of numerous products together creating a unique architectural concept.

GIORGETTI China

Giorgetti EXPANDS in China GIORGETTI CONTINUES ITS JOURNEY INTO THE ORIENT with recent openings in the Land of the Dragon. Three new showrooms dedicated to Italian design in different cities across China: Ritz Design in Shenzen, Classic Living in Chengdu and Casabella in Xiamen. These openings represent three important steps in spreading and consolidating the Giorgetti culture across the globe, especially in the Chinese market, which has an increasing appetite for high quality Made in Italy products. We decided to work with these three partners because of their profound expertise in the furniture market and because we share the same approach and strategy, paying attention to customers and the service we offer. The high quality of the products, their use of rigorously chosen natural materials and their interior design skills have enabled these stores to become exclusive venues dedicated to the beauty of contemporary design.

NEWS FROM MILAN

NEWS from Milan PALAZZO MEZZANOTTE Built on the ruins of a Roman Theatre, in Piazza degli Affari, is Milan's "Wall Street". It is a monumental building constructed between 1927 and 1932. It was commissioned by the Milan Chamber of Commerce and designed by the architect Paolo Mezzanotte with the aim of bringing all Milan's stock exchange activities under one roof. The building's façade is a pure representation of 20th century style with blocks of travertine marble, while in the basement there is still a bar whose walls are decorated with Gio Ponti ceramic tiles.

REDISCOVERING ICO PARISI On the outskirts of Milan, at Villa Reale, Monza, the exhibition entitled "Ritrovare Ico Parisi" is currently on show, celebrating 100 years since the birth of this Sicilian artist who spent most of his life in Como. Ico Parisi was an architect and designer, but also an art director, photographer, director and painter who produced numerous works. The exhibition focuses on the "classic" period of Parisi's work, from the end of the war to the end of the 1950s, and explores one object only: the table, constructed using a variety of methods, novel materials and the skill of artisans from the Brianza area.
