Introduction We first heard about Punk Kae or Kae Chatuchak when he was in one of the commercial by one of the whiskey brand. They interviewed and challenge him to cut the mohawk he has kept for 20 years in exchange of a trip to England. We have heard about The Rebel Riot in Yangon but never knew about the real punk in Bangkok so we were really curious about who is this punk.
What is Punk? Mr. Tongpoon Yodsurin “Kae”, also known as Kae Chatuchak or Punk Kae. He was amazed by what punk is about at the age of 20 and dress in punk ever since. He believes that punk is a social activism. Punk also have taught him about politics and what things are
like in other country. He also stated that if he had never know punk, he wouldn’t be who he is today. The tattoos on his body are what represent his identity, and Kae will stays punk as long as those tattoos stay with him.
Crocodile Punk Shop When Kae was a young punk he decided to move from his hometown, Surin, to Bangkok. Young Punk Kae started off making a living in Bangkok by working in factories. Obviously he wasn’t satisfied with the life he was living. Soon, Kae quitted his job and decided to open a shop that he can sell punk apparels, and this is the origin of Crocodile Punk Shop which has been operated for almost 12 years. It is located at Chatuchak section 6 soi 61/3 address number 249
Punk an as entrepreneur Kae is just like everyone else, trying to make a living. Most of the T-shirts are imported and some CDs are bought from local punk bands. He also screen prints the patches and does custom jackets himself.
Normally during weekends he will be at his shop and during weekdays he will do the custom orders from his clients and other companies.
Family, friends, and admirers Kae fits in with the people in Chatuchak very well as with the other punks too. His friends and some younger punks would stop by at his shop during the weekends, to buy something, to catch up, or even to asked him to fix their mohawks.

Kae is also married and his wife takes care of another shop that they own.
Different Perspectives
Punk scene in Bangkok isn’t a new thing but it’s just not very popular and many people are still not used to with it. From the perspective of other people, Kae might be the stereotypical punk who causes troubles and else but that still doesn’t change the fact that Kae is just another man who just trying to live his life the fullest.
