SPRING SUMMER COLLECTION 2015

* JANUARY IN STORE

PROJECT 1

fabindia FESTIVE COLLECTION 2015

Since this is a correction month, we are going to buy a small push. North is cold in January but Rest of India starts getting warmer. We will have anchor color as lime and Fuchsia. We can use fabrics like Cotton Dobby, Khadi. Chanderi and a little bit of T/C as well. * FEBRUARY IN STORE This month will be Color driven as we always do our Rang barse type of range.

* MARCH/APRIL IN STORE

Design direction Design direction - 2015 is largely inspired by Vernacular Cultures – inspired from central India, Rajasthan & Gujarat and the varied canvas of Indian Artists; Romantic Botanic & soft floral- interpret these as floral with painterly quality & Colonial gardens; Evolving 2014 concepts – taking forward the Wet Canvas story reworking the tie dye & dip-dye effects, soft brush marks & drippy reflections; geometrics; checks & plaids; contrast trims and bold borders; metallic block prints –pin effects PS - International trends are also looking towards Africa (Nigerian & Kanga fabrics), 70’s decorative motifs and Far East for print & silhouette directions. Color direction Fuchsia to deep plum; yellows lead to a more orange hue; Intense reds; minerals greens to brilliant lime and a softer apple green; Corals; Peacock blue leads to turquoise and finally Indigo blue finds its place in the Summer palette with accents of ultra-marine blue & violet hues. 2015 also sees a lot of neutrals in the form of Nude & Pearly hues; browns & pink copper and clay grays. Silhouette & Style direction The trend for 2015 seems to support the exaggerated volume made feminine with cinched silhouette, Layering, Asymmetric shapes, Shoulder emphasis – halters, boatneck, in-cuts & spaghetti; Cowls & soft gathers; Shift dresses; Shirt-tunics. Hemlines vary from knee to calf length. Continue to recommend developments inspired by traditional costumes capturing influences from various Indian regions & cultures.

We would have similar concept running thru these months however anchor color would change in these months. March would have a big buy in whites and colors as per below palette.

* MAY IN STORE This month like always will be Indigo promotion. We need to do explore different/ texture bases. Two tone indigo , combination dabu prints etc would be key. Can also include a small push in Tie dye/Batik/Bandhni as well on white base to break Blue monotony on shelf.

* JUNE IN STORE We would be doing a mini Promotion in RED/ BLACK/WHITE look

MOOD BOARD FLORA: Begins with the abstraction of the print motif from the mood board. for instant; the cherry blossom flower is abstracted from the mood board “flora”. The motif is an exploration with the dry pencil color (Staedtler pencil). The cherry blossom print is Iconic Print of Japan. Here the medium selected was intended to give more pastel (a sunny cherry blossom) look with detailed shading and merging. Following example show the evolution & the correction. Either start with basic to complex or busy to minimization. (Trial & error) refinement leads to final print surface.
