lue denim was all over the SS15 catwalks. It was doubled and tripled up, mixed with blue to break it up. The latest blue sunglasses make the look easy to master. Ray-Ban dresses it’s icon in the workwear fabric. Versace’s blue harks back to Gianni’s couture. Carrera 5024 nails another of the season’s favourite ways of serving up blue-with green. Dolce and Gabbana bring denim blue to a modern elegant cat eye. After Gabrielle Chanel introduced blue to her designs in 1920 it would become a secondary colour for the house and now its sunglasses.

CARRERA 5024S

The blue and green team was a tack repeated on the SS15 runways. Carrera give it to you in one hit. The easy to wear round shows off trendy contrast effects too with crystal contrasted by matte temples. Matching mirrored lenses seal the deal.

VERSACE 4285

4285 Couture sunglasses are inspired by Versace’s glamour and legendary traditions. The oversized butterfly is made from crystal blue acetate. Versace’s iconic Greca pattern is carved out of the dark blue temples. A large gold metal plaque bearing Gianni Versace couture honours the Italian house’s founder.

CHANEL 5315 BLUE

When aboard lover Duke of Westminster’s yacht Flying Cloud, Gabrielle Chanel first set her sights on the crew’s blue coats. Karl Lagerfeld dedicated a Chanel couture collection to the colour. Now Chanel 5315 is presented in midnight blue acetate. And lenses are polarised to block glare. On the temples sits hand-painted metal. It emulates the lock from the Boy Chanel handbag or the Boy Brick, dubbed the Lego bag.

Dolce and Gabbana’s Sicilian Taste collection is inspired by Sicilian heritage. Shiny blue petroleum metal surrounds the cat eye edges. Sicily’s decor is rich in gold. And gold metal finishes 2143’s front and continues down the temples. Blue marble temple tips offer a luxurious finish.

esigners hit refresh on denim this season. There’s more to denim than jeans though. Ray-Ban iconise its Wayfarer again in the stuff. Straight blue sunglasses break denim up. Steve McQueen and Robert Redford nailed double denim in the seventies topping it off with the aviator. It’s still the classic partner. Sunglasses can be part of tone on tone layering too with lenses or frames.

PERSOL 3110S TYPEWRITER EDITION

The revolutionary typewriter, the hero in the Golden Writing Era inspires the Persol Typewriter Edition. Rivets represent circular keys. The lines of the type bars are echoed in curves carved into the acetate at the temple tip’s interiors. Next to the iconic arrow there is an extra line of Meflecto Persol’s flexibile engineering. This makes for an even more comfortable fit. Typewriter Edition is stamped over the interior in the classic American Typewriter font.

GUCCI 1082S

Gucci’s autumn/winter 2014 man’s dress referenced the sixties. Gucci 1082S sunglasses are inspired by the clean retro mood. Flat lenses sit within a wayfarer spotty tortoise front with ultra-fine, silver metal frame work and temples. Gucci’s GG logo is seen inside original plastic oval temple tips. This detail gives 1082S a distinctive touch.

Ray-Ban 2447 Fleck is a new sophisticated retro round. From the Ray-Ban Fleck collection it’s cut and crafted from unique exclusive flecked acetate. It’s a slightly more trendy graphic update on tortoiseshell. Slim round rims are held by a tooled curved bridge. Screws add more vintage character. Matte temples provide subtle contrast.

The most original take on denim there is this season. Ahead of the game Ray-Ban have been developing this take on the iconic Wayfarer for two years. Layers of real denim are sandwiched between polypropylene. It’s heat set at temperatures reaching 200˚C, then cut into that unmistakable shape. We love the stray fibres round the edge.

SERENGETI AERIAL

The look’s classic but the spec cutting edge. Serengeti’s sophisticated navigator-styled sunglass is in titanium so it’s extra light. Gunmetal provides contrast for the new polarised 555nm blue lens, which manages yellows and greens relaxing the eye. Polarisation beats blinding glare reflected from surfaces like cars and water. A subtle mirrored coating helps reduce glare further as well as turning heads. Serengeti’s patented Spectral Control fine tunes light transmission so your eyes get the best clarity and colours available.

EMPORIO ARMANI 4001

A slick sporty flat top has a cool matte finish for maximum modernity. A visible core wire runs a stripe through the temples. The Emporio Armani lettering is raised on the arms. This spot on denim blue hue makes these the perfect twist for jeans
