Sikh Motorcycle club: Canada
Goals: 4 Raising awareness about motorcycle safety among members. 4 Helping of injured motorcyclists in cooperation with other organisations. 4 Increase awareness in the broader community about SIKHS and TURBANS History of the club On March 20, 1997, Mota Singh Jheta provided a letter of Human rights complaint to Human Rights commission which is typed using a portable Remington typewriter on the behalf of Mr. Avtar Singh Dhillon. In the complaint, he requested that practicing Sikhs must be exempt from the requirement under Section 221 of the Motor Vehicle Act of the BC. On May, 11, 1999, this exemption is valid for all the personshave unshorn comprises of five or more square metre of cloth and who practises the Sikh religion under Section 221 of the Motor Vehicle Act of the BC. This historical change marked as a beginning of Sikh Motorcycle Club in Canada. It is the only Sikh Club of Canada. During the summer, 2002, Harjinder Singh, Host of Surrey Radio Broadcast invited a small group of motorcycle enthusiast to participate in a documentary about turban wearing
motorcyclist; this documentary raises the awareness about growing number of Sikhs who enjoyed riding motorcycles. After this documentary, Harjinder Singh Thind, Avtar Singh Gill, Malkit Singh Rai, Kulwinder Singh Khangura and Amritpal Singh Randhawa started meeting on regularly basis to ride under the name of “Royal Enfield Riders”. Few months later, a large number of
Sikh motorcyclists met and inaugurated the “Sikh Motorcycle Club”. Avtar Singh Dhillon was specially invited to this meeting along with Baldev Singh Mookar, Bhupinder Singh Uppal, Jaspal Singh Bagha, Ajadwinder Singh Sidhu and Harjit Singh Shira. These are the founding members joined the original five. Present status of the club
Today in the province of BC, Sikhs are legally allowed to ride the motorcycles while wearing the turbans. This club has grown leaps and bounds with the membership all over the hundred members. WESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE Western Community College, now an Accredited and EQA Designated College, provides access to higher education opportunities that enable students to develop knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their professional goals, improve the productivity of their organizations and provide leadership for the ultimate benefit of the community.
T
he aim of education should be to make one self-reliant. At Western Community College, education is imparted to the students with this aim. Every organization needs qualified and skilled employees and every employee needs a job that is as per their skill set. What bridges this gap is a qualification that provides the required skill set to the potential employees. All the courses offered at Western Community College help the students to acquire those skills that are considered to be most important in that field. Western Community College began its operations in 2012. In the beginning, the college only offered one program to the students, that was, Health Care Assistant Program. Gradually, the college has expanded, now offering 14 programs, broadly divided in the field of Health Care, Accounting, Business Management, and Medical Office Administration. Recently, Western Community College got accredited with PCTIA and got the Educational Quality Assurance Designation by the Ministry of Advanced Education. Besides this, Western Community College is also on the Designated Learning Institutions List (DLI List) of Canada Immigration, due to which the college can host international students. Western Community College also has the BC Student Loan Designation, because of this our students can apply for BC Student Loans and grants. HCA Program is a 778 hour full time program that is registered with the BC Care Aide Registry and is offered in weekday or weekend format. Health Care Assistants help in the basic care of patients and senior
citizens under the direction of nurses, hospital staff and physicians. They provide professional care to the people in need of complex care. HCAs work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, long term care facilities, group homes, home support and community care. They also have the opportunity to work part time or on call. The hourly wage rate ranges in this profession from $16$26 per hour, based on the experience of the employee. Accounting programs at WCC range from Bookkeeping and Accounting (6 month program) to Diploma in Accounting for 1 year and Diploma in Advanced Accounting (2 years). Bookkeeping and Accounting are evergreen fields, where skilled people are always in demand. Every small or large company has a financial practice, as such

Jai Gangaajal Cast: Priyanka Chopra, Prakash Jha, Manav Kaul, Ninad Kamath Director: Prakash Jha Plot of the Story Samanta industries wants to buy a land in order to make inauguration of their new factory, but activist and some villagers are opposing the forceful acquisition. Now the local administration are looking into this matter but does not seem possible in the current set up where every cop is on Babloo Pandey’s pay roll. The concept of story is almost same as of Gangaajal (2003) and Khakee. It is a complete throwback to Gangajal with only one difference, that Abha Mathur replacing Amit Kumar from the original. The movie is another version of Gangaajal. The story impresses in the beginning and we witnesses a ruthless’ Chota Vidhayak Dabloo Pandey (Ninad Kamath) ruling the area with an iron feast. He has known for committing crimes such as rapes, extortion and murders. This character set the perfect stage for the arrival of character of Priyanka Chopra. There is a fight scene between two that brings out her gerit and respect for constitution – bound law. It feels like the arrival of a savior star but there begins the unfolding of BN Singh character. It seems that the idea of making movie is to create an isolated world which is uncertain
about its future. As a result powerful scenes come up and vanish into oblivion without providing build-up to the next one. Performance rating of Prakash Jha and Priyanka Chopra Talking about the Prakash Jha, he is the hero of Jai Gangaajal if we take consideration of the screen time. Jha has done total justice to his role. He is restrained in dialogue delivery and really effective in emotional scenes. His character revolves around using terms such as ‘Suicide’, ‘Murder’ and ‘Madam Sir’. Priyanka Chopra is the new ‘Dabangg’. Priyanka Chopra ensures they keep coming at regular intervals. Once again, the dark underbelly of the Hindi heart land has been explored with explosive dialogues and superficial sensibilities. View point about the story Poor villagers are running around in open gypsies trailing them as become a trademark of the Jha’s style of movie making. Following the style of Prakash Jha, Priyanka Chopra starrer opens on a similar note. In the starting of the movie, double meaning song disguised as a folk song playing in the background. There is a need to be more commercial as well as niche in your approach. Same has been repeated in Rajneeti, Chakravyuh, Satyagraha and Aakarshan. Jai Gangaajal is just another attempt at making a blockbuster, but it lacks the depth of Gangaajal and Apharan. Still, there’s enough for the audience to keep whistling and clapping.

How to prevent Sugar Cravings Naturally According to estimates, an average Canadian consumes 72 kg of sugar every year. Ironically, in some cases, it exceeds the weight of an average individual.
By: Surinder Shaun Kochhar LPN, FCN
T
Cont. from last issue herefore, it is extremely important to consume high amounts of chromium rich foods such as romaine lettuce, onions, tomatoes, whole grains, and potatoes. Chromium is abundant in onions and help in blood sugar level stabilization Tomatoes are one of the best foods to eat on a regular basis if you want to curb sugar cravings. Along with romaine lettuce and onions, tomatoes are up there at the top of the list of the most chromium-rich foods. In addition, tomatoes are a great source of serotonin, which is great news as studies suggest that decreases in serotonin levels can cause us to crave sugar. Increase Your Sensitivity to hunger hormone Leptin Leptin is a protein hormone. Leptin has been shown to promote development of gray matter in the part of the brain that regulates food cravings. This can consequently result in fewer sugar cravings. Leptin tells us that we are now full and need to stop eating. The hormone Ghrelin released in the stomach makes us hungry and Leptin signals us to stop eating. Leptin takes a minimum 20 minutes to get released from the brain. So Eat Slowly. Add a vegetable salad to every meal as it prolongs eating time and is very healthy too. Make a rainbow of vegetables in your salad plate. This is very important. We cannot increase leptin levels in order to fight off cravings. Nor foods loaded with leptin are available. More so our body cannot handle leptin. The key is to increase leptin sensitivity in side us. However, continuously high leptin levels may result in leptin insensitivity, which means that the body no longer responds to normal amounts of leptin and thus the body may crave even more sugar. The key is to make the body more sensitive to leptin. There are certain foods
that appear to do precisely that, although the mechanisms by which they increase leptin sensitivity are not known. To get a good start on your leptin sensitivity, have protein with breakfast, leafy greens and fiber-rich foods, as they can also help keep your body feeling full. These foods spark the sensitivity that your body needs in order to respond appropriately to leptin. Cold water fatty fish eg. salmon is good for this. Do not eat foods that decrease Leptin Sensitivity Avoid these foods if you can, or have them in moderation. One of the biggest problems is carbohydrates. These include starches, like white flour and potatoes. Excessive carbohydrates are not only terrible about blocking the leptin signals; The more carbohydrates we eat, the more the craving happens. It’s a vicious cycle! You should also avoid foods that are processed or contain high fructose corn syrup. The syrup and the chemicals in processing have been shown to block much of what the body is trying to do, including the leptin sensitivity that tells your brain to turn off the hunger signals. If
you eat large meals or eat very frequently, you are also demolishing your body’s attempts to fight off obesity. Try to eat in moderation, and keep the snacks to a minimum. Choose Low-GI Foods Carbs that have a high Glycemic Index i.e more than 70 rating are quickly broken down by the body and can thus cause rapid fluctuations in blood glucose levels, which can lead to cravings. In contrast, low-GI carbs[ with less than 55 ratings] take much longer to digest, providing the body with a slow, steady supply of fuel/ energy. Most non-starchy vegetables, legumes and fruit have a low GI rating. In contrast, most refined carbohydrate-rich foods and potatoes cause rapid fluctuations in blood glucose levels and are thus rated high on the glycemic index. Potatoes , dates, biscuits are a very dangerous option to control cravings. It is better to avoid or eat them once a week in moderation. Read about Glycemic Index and Glycemic load. Food with Glycemic Load of less than 10 is a best option. Cont. in next issue

N
ow a day’s nail art has become a popular beauty technique for every girl. It enhances the appeal and look of the woman’s nails. It is essential to understand that real estate on the nails is quite valuable that comes to creating look which is visible to others. Just like other beauty tips, there is also right way of doing cute and easy attractive nail designs. With it, you will have botched designs or excess nail polish covering unwanted places on you finger tips. Points to be kept in mind for nail art designs Always keep your nail polish open: The first and foremost important thing is that always keep your nail polish bottle open before you start to paint your favourite nail art designs. Apart from that you can also soak the nail polish upside down in a cup of hot water leaving only the lid immersed in water. It ensures that the nail polish, that is susceptible to hot stays away from the water while the lid is loosened. Make use of the Vaseline to keep the polish off the skin around the nails- It is very easy to get nail polish on the skin around the nails when you are creating even simple nail designs. To avoid the same, it is the best to make an effort to avoid getting

French Manicure- French Manicure is one of the popular nail designs that can easily be performed easily at your home. Take a wide rubber hand and make a loop in the middle and put the same on your thumb for tension and subsequently tie around the finger that you want to paint. Half Moon Manicure- Paper–hole stickers is a great source in creating simple and cute nail art. Stick them to the base of your nails as your painting guide. Apply two coats of polish before you remove stickers and after that enjoy the new look of your manicured nails. Make sure that your new easy nail designs dry as required. Dip your nails in a bowl of ice-water or make use of non-stick cooking spray on your nails to get the nail polish dry as fast as possible. So when the nails and hands are well maintained and cared on a regular basis, people will start noticing you more. It is being said that the person who cares for the hand, cares for the rest of the body. So always take good care of your hands. It will be an addition to your persona!

many good things. . With the parent’s involvement, student achieve and exhibhit more positive attitude and behavior. Mutual cooperation, respect, shared responsibility must be between parents and child. Socio economic status of parental education and income accounts for a substantial amount of the disparities in Math and Science accomplishment. Researcher Professor De Fraja, who is Head of Economics at the University of Leicester, said: “The main channel through which parental socioeconomic background affects achievement is via effort. “Parents from a more advantaged environment exert more effort, and this influences positively the educational attainment of their children. “By the same token, the parents’ background also increases the school’s effort, which increases the school achievement. Why schools work harder where parents are from a more privileged background we do not know. It might be because middle class parents are more vocal in demanding that the school works hard.” The urge of getting success increases in the child by seeing the success of the parents and how much harwork theydid to achieve the success. Parents and families always leave more direct impact on children’s learning and devlopment of social competence.

V
ancouver, B.C. – The 96th annual Vancouver International Auto Show drew 101,853 attendees in 2016, an increase of almost 5,000 attendees from the record setting 2015 numbers. This attendance comes despite venue timing conflicts resulting in the show being one day shorter in 2016. “We weren’t sure how attendance would be affected by the loss of a full day of the show as well as the timing of the event happening over Easter weekend and Spring Break for many school districts,” says executive director Jason Heard, “but once again British Columbians showed that this event is the ultimate place to see, learn about and celebrate new vehicles.” Single day attendance was extremely high, with Friday, March 25th setting a new single day record for attendance at 27,155 people. Already the best attended consumer show in Western Canada, the Vancouver Auto Show is also one of the most highly anticipated auto events in the country. “Over the past two years the Vancouver show has developed a significant momentum, drawing international attention from media, exhibitors such as the NOS Energy DUB Show Tour (which selected the Vancouver Auto Show as the location of its Canadian debut) and the Chinese Auto Manufacturers Association, which sent a delegation to see the Vancouver show firsthand,” says Heard. “We are changing the definition of auto show to reflect British Columbia’s love affair of everything from classic cars to hyper-luxury vehicles to family commuter vehicles. We are once again planning to expand the show in 2017 with the debut of a global conference on all things auto, which we plan to unveil in the coming months.” The show, which ran from March 23-27 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, assembled top manufacturers from around the globe showcasing 400 new vehicles – from luxury and exotic showstoppers to the latest in family and eco friendly offerings. Planning is now underway for the 2017 Vancouver International Auto Show. For more Information please visit: www. VancouverInternationalAutoShow. com. About the Vancouver International Auto Show The Vancouver International Auto Show is owned and operated by the New Car Dealers Association of BC (www.newcardealers. ca). It is British Columbia’s new model showcase for the Canadian automotive industry and represents over 35 distinct brands from the world’s leading manufacturers.

Focusing on Wedding Photographer from Chandigarh
Navjot N
avjot Nindi, a wedding photographer from Apna Punjab is a mélange of professional skills, artistic style and personal demeanor. With his heart and lens focused entirely on all things in wedding, Nindi has captured some of the most aweinspiring candid shots ever. His specialty and passion are seizing some of the most beautiful and unseen, often ignored moments during a wedding. All his photos are reflections of the activities on the wedding day. He photographs each wedding as if it’s a story, with a beginning, middle and an end to be told for years to come. We caught hold of Nindi and asked him a few questions for our readers to get to know him better What inspired you to get into the photography profession at such a young age? I have always been very shy and introvert. The day I held a camera for the first time, I knew this is what I wanted to pursue because it let me express myself. Taking photographs absolutely fascinated me as a child and it was my mother who always encouraged me to follow and do what I loved. By the grace of my mother and Almighty, I have achieved this position at this age and I couldn’t be more thankful. Also, My passion for photography also helped me to achieve my father’s dream. How do you cope with stress at a wedding? Stress is all in your mind. I have a lot of experience under my belt so that
has helped quite a lot in alleviating stress. The more experienced you are, the more things flow in a systematic manner on the D-Day. After all, it is all about planning and organizing right and experience helps a lot in that. Some people feel that hiring a professional wedding photographer can be an expensive business. What are your thoughts on that? I don’t want to justify the cost that goes into wedding photography. I am a professional artist and like every professional artist, I too have invested time and money into this passion of mine. I would just say that we get what we deserve after all the hard work and responsibility we share on the wedding day. And this cost is not only for one person alone, it is shared by the whole team. Do you also do destination weddings? Absolutely yes! I So far I’ve shot weddings in the beautiful city of Kashipur in Uttrakhand and Ramnagar which is in Nainital District of Uttrakhand to name a few. One of the international wedding destinations was Dubai
Nindi
which also happens to be one of the latest ones I shot just last year. The experience has been amazing so far and I have plans to do more destination weddings in the time to come. Navjot Nindi has been covering wedding shoots, fashion shoots, product photography shoots and any and everything that comes under the radar of photography since 2011. As cliché as it may sound, but the idea of capturing moments intrigued him way more than his
studies ever could. Ever since the inception of Nindi Studios, Navjot has captured over hundreds of moments candidly.
