A life insurance policy involves four primary stakeholders/key persons These are- the insurer, the owner, the insured and the beneficiary. Insurance company is the insurer which provides life insurance coverage and pays out claims in the case of a death. The owner of the policy pays premiums to the insurance company. The person upon whose life the policy is based is the ‘insured.’ And finally, the beneficiary is the person, trust or other entity who will receive the claim (death benefit) in case the insured dies. For example, Mr. A is both the owner and the insured for a life insurance policy with XYZ insurance company (insured). He will pay the premiums to the insurance company. His spouse Mrs. B is the beneficiary. So, she will receive the death benefit in case Mr. A dies.

for life insurance, we can broadly categorize life insurance into Term Insurance and Permanent Insurance. While on one hand, Term Life plan offers protection with minimum expenses but limited features, Universal Life plan offers most comprehensive coverage and features by investing more payment in the premiums. In term life insurance, the policy premium is based upon the probability that the insured will die within a stated term—typically 10, 20 or 30 years. The premiums are guaranteed during the opted term after which they can escalate. But, in permanent life insurance, the premiums are guaranteed for life. Permanent life insurance offers cash build up within the policy.

TENS therapy: TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is a physical therapy technique that uses small pulses of electricity to target areas of arthritis pain. urrey Police Service (SPS), Surrey’s new municipal police agency, joined the Surrey RCMP at their May 14, Open House event to meet members of the local community. SPS was invited by the RCMP to host a booth at this family-

All you need to know about cat scratch disease In this month’s article, we will be discussing a notorious disease found in some feline companions, known as Cat Scratch Disease. This condition arises from the bacteria known as Bartonella henselae, which is zoonotic in nature.
T
his means that this disease can be transferred to humans from cats. Transmission occurs from either a bite or a scratch from a cat to a human. This disease is also commonly referred to as ‘Bartonellosis’ or ‘Cat Scratch Fever’. Bartonella henselae can be found in the feces of fleas which find their habitat on the cat’s skin. Cats can transfer this disease to one another through the
sharing of fleas. Ticks can also be carriers of this bacteria and spread it to cats. When cats scratch themselves from the fleas, this bacteria will stick to the cat’s nails. Hence, when a cat scratches a human, the bacteria will then easily enter the human skin it encountered. When a cat is infected, the common symptoms he or she will experience is
fever, lethargy, swollen lymph nodes, vomiting, stiff and sore muscles, red eyes, lack of appetite and a history of fleas or ticks will be present. If your cat is experiencing any of the listed signs, we highly recommend seeking immediate medical care from your local veterinarian. At this point, your veterinarian may choose to conduct a few tests to confirm a diagnosis of Cat Scratch Disease. Common tests that may be performed are known as Western Blot, Immunofluorescence, ELISA testing or a PCR test. Once an official diagnosis has been made, your veterinarian may prescribe a course of antibiotics. With certain patients, your veterinarian may also choose to wait and observe a selflimiting process take place. Some cats are able to produce antibodies against this bacteria on their own, and in this case the symptoms will be mild on presentation and self-limit their existence. If there are no at-risk individuals at home from the cat, then the veterinarian may wish to opt for this option to allow the cat’s immune system to fight the disease on its own. Majority of the cases do resolve within

a few weeks of given treatment. It is important to place your cats on flea preventatives in order to avoid this condition entirely or to avoid reoccurrence. Keeping your furry companions away from wooded areas is essential in protecting them against exposure of ticks that may also carry this bacteria. Keeping your cat’s nails trimmed well is another precautionary step that can be applied to ensure less exposure of the bacteria’s resting place. As a human, if you have been scratched by a cat, it is wise to immediately wash the wound with soap and water to best prevent the bacteria from entering your body. Immunocompromised individuals may benefit from regularly having their cats checked for any bacteria or conditions present in order to keep themselves safe as well.

‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’: Performances and comic elements lift this 2.0 version By: TROY RIBEIRO Duration: 143 minutes Director: Anees Bazmee Cast: Kartik Aaryan, Tabu, Kiara Advani, Rajpal Yadav, Amar Upadhyay, Sanjay Mishra, Karmveer Choudhary, Rajesh Sharma, Govind Namdeo Rating: *** Meant to be steeped in mystery, with the usual ingredients of a ghost-centric film, replete with evil spirits and tantra-mantra, Anees Bazmee’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, a sequel of the 2007 film of the same name, is an absolute entertainer, its exaggerated horror elements and slapstick humour, notwithstanding. Manjulika, envious of her twin sister Anjulika, who is always the recipient of lavish praise from their father and gets the better deal in life, including the Kunwar (Amar Upadhayay), whom she secretly loves, kills Anjulika and takes her place. Thence she impersonates her sister for 18 years, till Ruhan Randhawa (Kartik Aryan), who upon a chance meeting with a Medical student, Reet Thakur (Kiara Advani ), accompanies her (Reet) to the family haveli in Rajasthan to help cover up a lie. How they unravel the truth and present it to the world forms the crux of the 143 minutes narrative. Kartik Aaryan shines as the fun-loving and confident Ruhan Randhawa, aka ‘Rooh baba’ in his comic avatar, and exudes charm aplenty. He is every inch the character and gets a massive platform to emote, dance, and display his acting prowess. The only scene where he is a let-down is owing to his poor Bengali accent in the Manjulika avatar. Kiara Advani, as Reet, looks gorgeous and is competent, essaying her part with conviction. Tabu, with her ace histrionics and get-up, does justice to her meaty role as the muchloved Bhabhi in the haveli, and her character, with its myriad shades, are full of intrigue.

The song ‘Aami je tomar’ by Shreya Ghoshal is as soulful as ever and evokes nostalgia. The background score has been used aptly. The intended jump scares and squeaky sound effects to create horror are a bit over-the-top in some scenes and ineffective- too. Although the one-liners and punches are filmy and trite, they are well-delivered and situational and thus, evoke laughter. Especially, the scene, where everyone in the haveli sets out to search for Reet, who has

e have always heard “Eat Breakfast like a King” but in today’s rushed world everyone’s meal timings are scattered, sleep is erratic and they want to look a certain way, cutting calories is affecting their breakfast intake every day! Breakfast is an important meal because you are literally breaking your fast (8-10 hours minimum) and to get started with the day, your body needs the right fuel. Eating a balanced breakfast is important as it kick-starts your metabolism, your blood glucose metabolism is much better throughout the day, and it boosts your energy levels and also helps you make better meal choices throughout the day. Breakfast is also given a lot of importance in Ayurveda as that is the time our body’s ‘pitta’ (fire or metabolism) is at its peak. hree young achievers Helena Billen, Jeenat Billen, Angel Billen have displayed an intense and excellent level of technique, courage, and training in the field of weightlifting. The girls hail from Surrey and have won many national and international titles at a very young age. The eldest sister, Helena Billen who is just 26-yearsold is a multiple time Junior National Champion. She has also bagged multiple Gold Medals at multiple Western Canadian Championships, Junior Commonwealth Championships and is a Bronze Medalist, Senior National champion, Junior World participant.
Bronze Medal. At such a young age, her achievements don’t end here. She won a Bronze Medal at the prestigious Senior Commonwealth Championships. She is also a multiple time Western Canadian
Champion, two-time Youth PanAmerican Silver Medalist, Junior Pan-American Bronze Medalist and has many more accolades to her name. Jeenat has won a Silver as well as
a Bronze Medal and Angel Billen, who is the youngest of the lot, bagged a Bronze at the Canadian Senior Nationals organised by the BC Weightlifting Association, held in Kelowna, B.C on May 22,2022. Angel, who is just 14-year-old is a U15 Pan-American Championship qualified with 1 Gold & 2 Silver medals. She is also a Junior National Champion, B.C Provincial Champion, selected for Youth Commonwealth Championships as well as selected for Youth Worlds. Angel will be competing at the Youth World Championships next month in Mexico.

His passion for fitness has led him to create a career within the sport as he is the co-founder of an online coaching company called Iron Gorilla Fitness. He inspires to do further competitions in the future as he has qualified for the Canadian National pro-qualifier in Toronto for Natural athletes. Jogpaul is a lifetime natural bodybuilder, which means someone who has never used any sort of performance enhancing drugs (PEDS or Steroids). This is something that is uncommon in the bodybuilding

The next day, we came to Edmonton by air. We saw the mall where an indoor beach had been made under a roof. Nancy, Sam and I enjoyed the artificial tides there. I cannot express how beautiful my world has turned. All three of us were very fond of joy rides. We also enjoyed the rides in the mall. Nancy was very happy with Sam. I was overjoyed to see Nancy so happy. We returned to Surrey after having a very sweet memorable trip. Sam went to his work the next day. I told Meenu and her momin-law about our pleasure trip. They were very happy for us. Sam had shown us another part of heaven in Canada. “Sam, I have something to give you happy news.”, I said shyly to Sam the other day when he came home from work.

A father always has your back Anyone can father a child, but being a dad takes a lifetime. Fathers play a role in every child’s life that cannot be filled by others. This role can have a large impact on a child and help shape him or her into the person they become. Hence, it is rightly said that fathers are the strength behind the upbringing of a child. The Daughters adore their fathers and search for the same loving personality in the man they fall in love with. The sons are inspired by their fathers for the strength and support they receive in abundance from the fathers and father figures in their lives. Even for the grown ups, fathers will remain to be looked up to for wisdom and advice that is in the best of interest. Hence it becomes our responsibility to pay their due respect and tribute not just on Father’s Day but every other day of our lives. think being a father is the greatest gift of God. When I look at my daughters looking up to me as their superhero, it motivates me to be the best version of myself. Here’s why UV rays are harmful to both skin and eyes

f you believe that applying sunscreen will protect your skin from the harsh rays of the sun this summer, think again. Your eyes, too, require attention. UV rays are not only harmful to the skin, but they can also harm the eyes. “UV exposure has been linked to the development of macular degeneration, cataracts, and other vision-loss problems,” says Dr Danish Iqbal, Senior Consultant, Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals. If you have an existing eye condition, such as macular degeneration or cataracts, he recommends that you protect your eyes from the sun as much as possible during the summer. Dr. Danish shares some simple

Wear sunglasses: Use 100 per cent Ultraviolet (UV) protection sunglasses. The harsh UV rays can damage your eye lens, cornea and even retina. So whenever you head out, make sure you put on your shades. Splash clean water in the eyes: Your eyes are stressed throughout the day due to severe heat and exposure to the sun. Rinse your eye by splashing cold water on them periodically and drinking a lot of water. This will keep your eyes from becoming dry or puffy. topic dermatitis (eczema) is a condition that makes your skin red and itchy. It’s common in children but can occur at any age. Atopic dermatitis is long lasting (chronic) and tends to flare periodically. It may be accompanied by asthma or hay fever. No cure has been found for atopic dermatitis. But treatments and self-care measures can relieve itching and prevent new outbreaks. For example, it helps to avoid harsh soaps, moisturize your skin regularly, and apply medicated creams or ointments.
4 Itching, which may be severe, especially at night. 4 Red to brownish-gray patches, especially on the hands, feet, ankles, wrists, neck, upper chest, eyelids, inside the bend of the elbows and knees, and in infants, the face and scalp. 4 Small, raised bumps, which may leak fluid and crust over when scratched. 4 Thickened, cracked, scaly skin. 4 Raw, sensitive, swollen skin from scratching.

Prevention
Healthy skin helps retain moisture and protects you from bacteria, irritants and allergens. Eczema is related to a gene variation that affects the skin’s ability to provide this protection. This allows your skin to be affected by environmental factors, irritants and allergens.
4 The following tips may help prevent bouts of dermatitis (flares) and minimize the drying effects of bathing: 4 Moisturize your skin at least twice a day. Creams, ointments and lotions seal in moisture. Choose a product or products that work well for you. Using petroleum jelly on your baby’s skin may help prevent development of atopic dermatitis. 4 Try to identify and avoid triggers that worsen the condition. Things that can worsen the skin reaction include sweat, stress, obesity, soaps, detergents, dust and pollen. Reduce your exposure to your triggers. Infants and children may experience flares from eating certain foods, including eggs, milk, soy and wheat. Talk with your child’s doctor about identifying potential food allergies. 4 Take shorter baths or showers. Limit your baths and showers to 10 to 15 minutes. And use warm, rather than hot, water. 4 Take a bleach bath. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends considering a bleach bath to help pre-

More than half of young children with atopic dermatitis develop asthma and hay fever by age 13. 4 Chronic itchy, scaly skin: A skin condition called neurodermatitis (lichen simplex chronicus) starts with a patch of

vent flares. A diluted-bleach bath decreases bacteria on the skin and related infections. Add 1/2 cup (118 millilitres) of household bleach, not concentrated bleach, to a 40-gallon (151-litre) bathtub filled with warm water. Measures are for a U.S.-standard-sized tub filled to the overflow drainage holes. Soak from the neck down or just the affected areas of skin for about 10 minutes. Do not submerge the head. Take a bleach bath no more than twice a week. 4 Use only gentle soaps. Choose mild soaps. Deodorant soaps and antibacterial soaps can remove more natural oils and dry your skin. 4 Dry yourself carefully. After bathing gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel and apply moisturizer while your skin is still damp
Diagnosis 4 No lab test is needed to identify atopic dermatitis (eczema). Your doctor will likely make a diagnosis by examining your skin and reviewing your medical history. He or she may also use patch testing or other tests to rule out other skin diseases or identify conditions that accompany your eczema. 4 If you suspect a certain food caused your child’s rash, tell the doctor and ask about identifying potential food allergies.
Medications 4 Creams that control itching and help repair the skin. Your doctor may prescribe a corticosteroid cream or ointment. Apply it as directed, after you moisturize. Overuse of this drug may cause side effects, including thinning skin. Other creams containing drugs called calcineurin inhibitors — such as tacrolimus (Protopic) and pimecrolimus (Elidel) — affect your immune system. They are used by people older than age 2 to help control the skin reaction. Apply it as directed, after you moistur-
ize. Avoid strong sunlight when using these products. These drugs have a black box warning about a potential risk of cancer. But the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology has concluded that the risk-to-benefit ratios of topical pimecrolimus and tacrolimus are similar to those of most other conventional treatments of persistent eczema and that the data don’t support the use of the black box warning. 4 Drugs to fight infection. Your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic cream if your skin has a bacterial infection, an open sore or cracks. He or she may recommend taking oral antibiotics for a short time to treat an infection. 4 Oral drugs that control inflammation. For more-severe cases, your doctor may prescribe oral corticosteroids — such as prednisone. These drugs are effective but can’t be used long term because of potential serious side effects. 4 Newer option for severe eczema. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently approved a new, injectable biologic (monoclonal antibody) called dupilumab (Dupixent). It is used to treat people with severe disease who do not respond well to other treatment options. This is a newer medication, so it doesn’t have a long track record in terms of how well it helps people. Studies have shown it to be safe if used as directed. It is very expensive.
Therapies 4 Wet dressings: An effective, intensive treatment for severe atopic dermatitis involves wrapping the affected area with topical corticosteroids and wet bandages. Sometimes this is done in a hospital for people with widespread lesions because it’s labour intensive and requires nursing expertise. Or, ask your doctor about learning how to do this technique at home. 4 Light therapy: This treatment is used for people who either don’t get better with topical treatments or who rapidly flare again after treatment. The simplest form of light therapy (phototherapy) involves exposing the skin to controlled amounts of natural sunlight. Other forms use artificial ultraviolet A (UVA) and narrow band ultraviolet B (UVB) either alone or with medications. Though effective, long-term light therapy has harmful effects, including premature skin aging and an increased risk of skin cancer. For these reasons, phototherapy is less commonly used in young children and not given to infants. This fundamental shift in design not only improved the overall aesthetics of the house but also resulted in numerous behavioural and cultural changes. It transformed the kitchen into much more than just a place to cook. The open kitchen layout’s island and peninsula (cooking counter) define the kitchen and delineate cooking zones with built-in cooktops, hanging chimneys, sinks, and prep stations for home chefs to indulge their passion for cooking. This design
also includes a communal area for conversations, dining, and homework.
Now, in many countries across the world, we are finally seeing a wider adoption of the open kitchen style, either to combat space constraints or to add a playful space to the home. The pandemic influenced the need for an open kitchen even more because more family members were now involved in the kitchen. Flat surfaces add more room: If you want a sleek and streamlined kitchen, go with built-in appliances and leave the counters bare to ensure a flat surface. Integrating wine coolers and refrigerators behind cabinet doors alongside the cooking counter is a simple way to accomplish this. For cooking (and to ensure noise-free, odour-free venting), consider a built-in venting hob that keeps the cat in the bag!
Higher counters: If you want to cook discretely while maintaining an open layout, raise the island counter. This helps to obscure those in the living room’s view. The Art of Balancing Family and Entrepreneurship
N
eedless to say, being an entrepreneur is immensely fulfilling because of the complete freedom you get from pursuing what you truly believe in. But that also comes with long, erratic, and vigorous hours that can be taxing because you are the one making all the decisions. Lines between personal and professional lives start becoming blurry, and before you know it, non-existent, and the drive and motivation with which you first began, can sometimes start to fade somewhere along the way owing to never-ending work. This is why it becomes very important to be able to differentiate life from work, successfully, because success means nothing without self-satisfaction and happiness. To me, the family has always been a source of my happiness and spending time with them always takes my stress away! Even when I started my own company, my family were my biggest cheerleaders and that continues to date, but I always ensure the right amount of balance between quality time with them and work. My mom has always and will be my inspiration in life. Just growing up with her has made me look at the world with such a sanguine perspective, and I’ve tried imbibing all of her traits to the highest potential, though I’m sure I cannot achieve the level of perfection with which she has led her life. She has absolutely never let her work come in the way in which she has always supported her family and I think when you grow up with such an ideal role model, you start to easily see right from wrong.

Now that I’m a mother myself, I realise the effort that goes into maintaining that balance can be quite tricky and can lead to slip-ups ever-so-often if you’re not extremely mindful. So, I too, am continuously trying to be the same mother to my kids, albeit not as nonchalantly! In my personal life, I practise a few lessons to maintain this balance. Like, when I’m on a trip with my family I ensure that I don’t let work-related stress or even work calls for that matter take me away from being present in that moment, additionally, I try to not check emails post 8 pm unless absolutely essential. I manage my time effectively and get the most done during work hours so I can just as effectively spend quality time with my hus-
band and kids at home. Entrepreneurship comes with its own set of challenges. For example, as is the case when you’re starting anything from an idea’s incubation, building it up further requires a lot of your time. This means weekends usually look lonely, the hours in the day feel insufficient compared to the quantum of work, the inspiration tends to start running low when you’re not seeing adequate results in the short-term and this can lead to frustration to a point of sometimes even giving up. Having sailed in the same boat, I can vouch that a family’s encouragement and presence on a bad day make all the difference. If there is one thing
I endorse, it is not losing yourself in the process of building something new because it would’ve been all for nought. A few tips to ensure striking the optimum balance would be to structure and plan the day better with the goal to achieve maximum output in between work hours so you can utilise the rest the way you’d like. Another would be to remove a mandate on ‘me-time’ during the day. For me, it would be my morning runs and workout time. Lastly, spend as much time with your loved ones as you possibly can. Healthy snack options to fulfil your cravings
Rice Dhokla The all-time favorite Gujarati snack made with rice flour, suji and mild spices. Light and lovely! INGREDIENTS: 4 200 gm (1 3/4 cups) rice flour 4 30 gm (1/4 cup) suji (semolina) 4 100 ml (1/2 cup) yogurt 4Sugar to taste 44 tsp oil 41/2 tsp mustard seeds 4 1-2 whole red peppers 4A pinch of asafoetida powder 4 Water as required
4 Salt to taste 4 1 tsp lemon juice 4 2, 6” greased metal plates for cooking the dhokla
METHOD: 4 -Mix together the rice flour, suji, yogurt, sugar and 1 tsp oil into a smooth paste. 4 -Add enough water so as to make a batter of dropping consistency. 4 -Add the lemon juice and asafoetida and leave to ferment overnight. 4 -Keep the steamer over the stove for the water to boil.
4 -Pour batter into prepared plates, cover and steam for 20 minutes. Remove, cool and cut into cubes. 4 - Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, when crackling add the red pepper, when the colour darkens add 2 Tbsp water, bring to a boil and pour over the dhokla cubes. 4 -Garnish by sprinkling grated coconut and coriander leaves
Easy jerk chicken with rice & peas A Caribbean classic, this recipe makes a delicious and satisfying weekday meal INGREDIENTS: 4 2 tbsp sunflower oil 4 1kg chicken thighs and drumsticks 4 1 bottle jerk barbecue sauce (Levi Roots or Walkerswood from Waitrose) 4 1 bunch spring onions, sliced For the rice and peas 4 200g basmati rice 4 2 x 410g cans kidney beans 4 400g can coconut milk 4 1 bunch spring onions, chopped 4 1 thyme Sprig 4 1 garlic clove, chopped 4 1 tsp allspice
METHOD: 4 1. Heat oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Heat the oil in a roasting tin, then carefully add the chicken pieces. Brown them lightly on all sides – it will take about 6-8 mins. Pour over the jerk sauce, scatter over the sliced spring onions, then toss to coat each piece of chicken. 4 2. Roast the chicken for 30 mins, turning occasionally to ensure it gets nice and sticky. 4 3. While the chicken is cooking, make the rice & peas. Rinse the rice in a sieve until the water runs clear. Bring a pan of water to the boil with the liquid only

DIRECTIONS: 4 1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta in boiling water until tender yet firm to the bit, 8 to 10 minutes; drain. 4 2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic; saute until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Stir in the chicken and cook, stirring occasionally, until chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, about 5 to 6 minutes. 4 3. Reduce heat to mediumlow; add artichoke hearts, tomato, feta cheese, parsley, lemon juice, oregano, and cooked pasta. Cook and stir until heated through, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat, season with salt and pepper, and garnish with lemon wedges.

Avtar Virdi to embark on a Cross-Canada Walk for BC Cancer
A
vtar Virdi is embarking on a Cross-Canada Walk for BC Cancer, a fundraising walk from St. John’s, N.L. to Vancouver, B.C, beginning in June 2022 in support of research and care at BC Cancer - Surrey. Avtar’s goal is to finish his walk in one month or less. It is predicted by the Canada Health Department that every second Canadian will suffer from Cancer once in their lifetime, it was way shocking for Avtar and his family when he was diagnosed with cancer, twice. First in Jan 2017 and then again in December, 2020. He says he has never ever abused his body with tobacco or any kind of drug except doctor’s prescription and wondered why he suffered from cancer. He survived by God’s grace, for his wonderful family’s great support and his very positive and strong will. He read about Terry Fox and was greatly inspired by his small but great life. Due to cancer, doctors had to amputate Terry’s right leg up to knee in order to save his life. But unfortunately, the cancer spread to his lungs. In 1980, with an exemplary spirit despite his half leg being gone to cancer, Terry Fox started his walk from St. John’s N.L. and created a legacy of himself. He spread awareness about cancer and raised over one million dollars for research to find treatment of cancer. Virdi feels he owes his life to Terry Fox. After surviving twice from cancer, he realized he was still alive due to Terry’s great thought for people like him. He feels Terry Fox is still alive in the hearts of all who know about him and have suffered

from this critical illness directly or indirectly. He wishes cancer to be eliminated from society in future and nobody suffers from the excruciating pain he has gone through, or he is going through even at present. He has decided to follow Terry Fox, starting his walk this June and reminding the whole world to save more and more people from cancer. This is a great challenge for him as he is not an athlete. His family is worried about him. However, he is determined to go for it. nflation is a process in which money loses some of its value. A supply crunch of too much demand chasing too few goods or services can cause inflation. This results in paying higher costs for the same item. The inflation rate affects almost all goods and services you will need to pay more for essentials such as food and housing. Overall, this will increase the cost of living. According to a new survey more than half of Canadians can’t keep up with the rising cost of living. More Canadians feel stressed about money as inflation rates continue to grow. The basic day to day necessities such as food, gasoline and energy are the key factors adding to the cost of living to household bills. Canadian’s budgets are getting squeezed with the rise of inflation. With rising housing, gasoline and grocery prices driving inflation, the survey found that 53 percent of respondents reported not being able to keep up with the rising cost of living. When it comes to emergency expenses, 51 per cent reported they would be unable to cover an unexpected $1,000 bill, including 14 per cent who said they couldn’t manage an emergency expense of any kind. Households with children appear to be feeling financial pressure and were more likely to report cutting back on spending and savings. Nearly 40 percent of parents said they face challenges paying for childcare. Inflation affects all parts of the world, but it affects some more than others. Within Canada, you will find that in some cities, goods and services are very expensive compared to other cities. Vancouver is Canada’s most expensive city. The real estate market is very expensive and hard to get in for an average Canadian

family. Rent is not cheaper either. On the positive side, Vancouver does offer many benefits. Vancouver city provides many jobs and it is easy to find jobs as compared to other cities in Canada. Vancouver gets little to no snow with mild winters and cool summers. If you love the outdoors, Vancouver also offers many outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, swimming, biking, etc. Overall, the city is a great place to live if you can afford the housing market.
