Your Guide to Buying Super Visa Insurance in Canada
E
very year there are over 35 million visitors who travel to Canada to share in this country’s abundant opportunities and vibrant culture. This includes a wide range of students, businesspeople, temporary workers and tourists. As with all other countries around the globe, where you live and your reason for coming into Canada will determine the kind of entry requirements you’ll need. In some cases it is consiidered as applying for a visitor’s visa. While there are many countries whose residents are exempt from these types of visas, if you plan on an extended stay then you’ll need to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa. As you might imagine, there is a backlog of applicants for this type of special visa. However, eligible parents or grandparents have the opportunity to “jump to the head of the line” by applying for a Super Visa. This new type of visa has been in existence for less than a year and is already proving to be an extremely popular option that is reuniting families all across Canada. What is a Super Visa? Current Canadian immigration policy allows for visitors to stay for only six months at a time. If a visitor wants to stay longer they’ll have to apply for an extension which also means paying an additional fee. However, if you are a parent or a grandparent who would like to visit family for an extend stay then you can apply for a Super Visa. The Super Visa allows you to stay up to two years without renewal. The application process for this group of temporary residents is a lot quicker. Typically it might take eight weeks to get a Super Visa as opposed to waiting several years for a Temporary Resident Visa. The goal is to get families together as fast as possible! The Super Visa allows for multiple visits throughout the duration of the visa. To be eligible for a Super Visa you’ll need to provide the following information: 4The person’s ties to the home country 4The purpose of the visit 4The person’s family and financial situation 4 A written commitment of financial support from the Canadian child or grandchild who meets a minimum income threshold 4Complete Immigration and Medical Examination
from a Canadian insurance company. This protects the government and the applicant by making the direct payment process easier. Depending on the circumstances, you could also obtain Super Visa insurance if you have a pre-existing condition. It will depend on what that condition is and whether or not is has been stable for 3 to 6 months.
4Proof of Canadian medical insurance Keep in mind, that even if you’re from a country that doesn’t require a visa (United States, France, Germany, and Italy to name a few) you can still apply for the Super Visa if you wish to stay longer than six months. What is Super Visa Insurance? As a health care debate continues to rage in American, Canadians enjoy the benefits of a first class health care system that provides full coverage for all of its citizens. Just because Canadians are covered doesn’t mean visitors will be able to take advantage of these same benefits. In fact, any visitor who needs any kind of medical care will have to pay for it out of their own pocket. The exception would be if that visitor had visa or traveler’s insurance. With the Super Visa application, this type of insurance policy is a requirement. An applicant for a Super Visa must submit proof that they have medical insurance. That policy will need to be: 4Valid for at least one year from their date of entry into Canada 4Provide a minimum of $100,000 in coverage 4Covers the person for health care, hospitalization and repatriation (returning to their home country) Because you have to get this policy in place before applying for the Super Visa there are refunds available in case you are denied the Super Visa status. This insurance policy should also be issued
Is Super Visa Insurance Worth It? It is a simple truth that at some point in our lives we’re going to need healthcare. The question of “when” and “how much will it cost” are the great unknowns. An immigrant coming into Canada is not required to purchase insurance; only those applying for a Super Visa need a policy. However, when you consider that an average day in a hospital could cost upwards of $3,000 (not to mention the additional charges to return to your home country) you can see that a medical emergency could quickly wipe out your savings, if you aren’t covered by insurance. Why to take the risk? Visa insurance policies are a low cost way of providing peace of mind to any Canadian visitor.

Baisakhi is one of most popular and major festivals of Sikh. It is being celebrated with lots of gaiety and enthusiasm throughout the world. For the farming community of Punjab, baisakhi marks the time for harvest of Rabi crops. Baisakhi festivals fall on the first day of the Vaisakh Month (April-May) according to the Sikh calendar. According to English calendar, date of baisakhi is April 13 every year and April 14 once in every 36 years.
Celebration of Baisakhi Like every year, Baisakhi in 2016 is marking the commencement of the solar year; and in Punjab, it is celebrated as the New Year. On the event of Vaisakhi, devotees show gratitude towards the Almighty for granting them with good harvest. Baisakhi has special importance in Sikhism, as this is the day on which Guru Gobind Singh Ji (the tenth guru) established the Khalsa Panth.

The Benefits of Having Straight Teeth Dr. Vishal Sharma, BSc, DDS, Cert. Ortho. FRCD(C), FCDS (BC)
Certified Specialist in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics
H
aving a perfect smile certainly makes you look fantastic, which is always a huge bonus, however, the benefits of straight teeth aren’t just cosmetic. As a Surrey orthodontist, Dr. Sharma sees patients seeking treatment for a variety of reasons and understands how significant a healthy smile is in all aspects of life. So why is it important to have straight teeth? Because it can positively impact our physical health, mental and emotional wellbeing and even have social benefits. Health Benefits of Straight Teeth Many of our Surrey orthodontic patients are surprised to hear that having straight teeth can actually help ward off serious health problems. The health benefits of having straight teeth include: 1. Healthier gums: When teeth are in their proper place, the gums fit snugly around each tooth, plus tit becomes easier to clean, which lessens your chances of developing periodontal disease. 2. Improved oral health: Crooked, misaligned teeth are difficult to clean and oral health drastically improves ,when you have straight teeth. This means less cavities, plaque and tooth loss. 3. Reduced risk of diseases associated with tooth decay: Tooth decay and periodontal disease are both caused by bacteria, which can lead to a whole host of issues. An untreated oral infection can eventually result in pneumonia, stroke or heart disease according to the American Dental Association. 4. Alleviates problems linked with improper bite: A misaligned bite has its own set of issues. Orthodontic treatment can bring the jaws and
teeth into proper alignment and prevent problems like speech and chewing difficulties, abnormal wear that erodes tooth enamel, jaw problems and headaches and neck pain. 5. L owers your chances of experiencing a tooth injury: Protruding teeth are more likely to be broken or injured. Straight Teeth and Confidence A stunning smile can boost your mental and emotional wellbeing by giving you tons of confidence. When you’re self conscious because of crooked teeth, it takes a toll on your self-esteem. When you look good, you feel good. This in turn has a positive effect on relationships, school, work and life in general. Plus, studies show that smiling – even if it’s a fake smile – it can enhance your mood and lessen stress. Those with straight teeth are more likely to flash their pearly whites. The Social Benefits of Straight Teeth Whether we like it or not, first impressions count and our teeth play a large role in how we’re initially
perceived by others. Studies have uncovered that dental appearance holds a lotsof weight in social interactions and an attractive smile is particularly valued in western cultures. Kelton Global conducted a research for Invisalign and determined that those individuals see those with straight teeth (rightly or wrongly) as more intelligent and successful, happier, healthier and more trustworthy. A study published in the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics revealed that study of participants with “ideal” smiles were judged as smarter and were more likely to be hired as compared to those with crooked teeth or “nonideal” smiles. Whatever your motivation for wanting orthodontic treatment is, the bottom line is that straight teeth come with extensive benefits and can improve your life on multiple leve0.................. ls. If you’re ready to find out what type of orthodontic treatment will meet your needs and get you on the path to a perfect smile, contact Aura Orthodontics today for a free consultation.

Sikh Motorcycle club: Canada T
his club constitutes with a group of individuals who shares equal passion for motorcycle riding. The main aim of the club is to make promotion of safe motorcycle riding and offers an active social club for all members. Goals: 4 Raising awareness about motorcycle safety among members. 4 Helping of injured motorcyclists in cooperation with other organisations. 4 Increase awareness in the broader community about SIKHS and TURBANS History of the club On March 20, 1997, Mota Singh Jheta provided a letter of Human rights complaint to Human Rights commission which is typed using a portable Remington typewriter on the behalf of Mr. Avtar Singh Dhillon. In the complaint, he requested that practicing Sikhs must
be exempt from the requirement under Section 221 of the Motor Vehicle Act of the BC. On May, 11, 1999, this exemption is valid for all the personshave unshorn comprises of five or more square metre of cloth and who practises the Sikh religion under Section 221 of the Motor Vehicle Act of the BC. This historical change marked as a beginning of Sikh Motorcycle Club in Canada. It is the only Sikh Club of Canada. During the summer, 2002, Harjinder Singh, Host of Surrey Radio Broadcast invited a small group of motorcycle enthusiast to participate in a documentary about turban wearing motorcyclist; this documentary raises the awareness about growing number of Sikhs who enjoyed riding motorcycles. After this documentary, Harjinder Singh Thind, Avtar Singh Gill, Malkit Singh Rai, Kulwinder Singh Khangura and Amritpal Singh Randhawa started meeting on regularly basis to ride under
the name of “Royal Enfield Riders”. Few months later, a large number of Sikh motorcyclists met and inaugurated the “Sikh Motorcycle Club”. Avtar Singh Dhillon was specially invited to this meeting along with Baldev Singh Mookar, Bhupinder Singh Uppal, Jaspal Singh Bagha, Ajadwinder Singh Sidhu and Harjit Singh Shira. These are the founding members joined the original five. Present status of the club Today in the province of BC, Sikhs are legally allowed to ride the motorcycles while wearing the turbans. This club has grown leaps and bounds with the membership all over the hundred members. Contacs us : Sikh Motorcycle Club - Canada Phone : 001-778-688-7454 (SIKH) Email: info@sikhmotorcycleclub.org

Kids Play Events of 2015 Kids Play Youth Foundation is a registered society which started in the June of 2015, and prior to that operated with PALS Society of Canada. The initiative of this program is to develop in our youth skills that will assist them in becoming successful leaders and innovators of the future.

ids Play is working towards keeping kids away from the lifestyle of drugs, gangs, and violence. Kids Play holds sports tournaments, conferences, and other projects for the youth community to provide them with opportunities to lead healthy life styles. The organization is operated by leaders from all across the Lower Mainland wanting to bring a positive change within the community. Kids Play believes their work will allow the youth to discover the potential they have within themselves to reach greater heights in any aspect of life. Our vision is to create young leaders within the community through involvement in sports and other recreational activities. Kids Play wants the youth to obtain opportunities that will
them to excel in all aspects of life. Our mission is to organize sports tournaments, conferences, and other projects to keep them away from the lifestyle of drugs, gangs, and violence. Each month the program brings to the community resourceful events in the form of educational forums and sports activities. Richmond saw its first ever Western Canada Age Class Wrestling Championships take place at the Richmond Olympic Oval January 16-17, 2015. This Wrestling BC sanctioned event saw almost 800 school age athletes travel to Richmond to compete in two days of youth competitions. Youth of all ages competed in the 12 and under division, all the way up to the juvenile division for 17 and 18 year olds. Kids Play was proud to be a part of
this historic event. In March, Kids Play hosted our first 3 on 3 Indoor Soccer Classic which took place from March 8th to 9th at Guru Angad Dev Elementary. Support from community members and local businesses played a huge role in the success of this event. Our volunteers put in tremendous amounts of hard work to run the event. We had 400 kids take part in this tournament. We had one of the White Caps players, Derrick Bassi, who helped us coordinate and execute this event. He spoke to the players and audience about the importance of sports and how engagement in recreational activities keeps children off the streets and helps instill valuable lessons in their lives. BC Tigers Soccer Club, the largest soccer club of the Lower Mainland, helped us host the event. Free hot lunch was served to everyone – players, volunteers, sponsors, and spectators. The success of this tournament hinged on the generous contributions of our sponsors and great efforts of our volunteers. In the same month, Kids Play conducted a forum on Anti-Racism with a partner organisation to spread awareness on the on-going problem of various forms of discrimination. The forum took place

on March 21st at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. The event was a houseful with over 200 guests attending the event. Prominent members of the society spoke to the audience about creating awareness about these issues. Member of Legislative Assembly, Hon. Amrik Virk, and Member of Parliament, Jinny Sims also attended the event and said a few words on the various forms and effects of discrimination. Hon. Amrik Virk recognized our executive founder, Kal Dosanjh, for his community work and his passion for serving his people through programs like Kids Play which intend to bring about positive changes in the society. For Vaisakhi, in April, Kids Play volunteers got together to represent the organisation in the parade. Everyone wore Kids Play shirts and walked together for the entire day with the parade to aware people of the new opportunities available for the youth. One of the biggest events of our program! We teamed up with a law enforcement agency to bring to our youth our largest program of the year – Kids PlayPAL Youth Soccer Tournament held at BC Place Stadium. We had over 1000 youth from elementary schools in the Downtown Eastside participate in the tournament. We had over 80 volunteers from Kids Play, and other non – profit organizations from the lower mainland. The efforts of our volunteers made this event one to remember. These young students participated in competitive soccer and learnt the opportunities to become leaders and athletes within their communities. For the month of June, Kids Play partnered up with Universal Athletics Club and held a Track and Field meet. The target audiences were the children and families of the Lower Mainland. The event was held at Bear Creek Park on June 27 and 28. Like all
other Kids Play events, this event was also free for all attendees. There were over a hundred youth participants at the meet. In August, Kids Play partnered up with BCMCL to bring to the community a cricket tournament. We had players from all over BC, along with their families to enjoy a friendly tournament. The event was an extraordinary success and the plans of holding it annually are gradually coming in place. A huge thank you to Jimmy Hansra and all the members of the league! A shout out to our sponsors and volunteers who have made it possible for us to serve the community in an exceptional manner. We conducted two events in the month of September – Sports Awards Gala and 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament which went very well. For our basketball tournament, we partnered up with another nonprofit organisation, SOAR Philanthropic Society – this organisation provides scholarships to students aspiring to attend post – secondary. Kids Play is providing the organisation with a thousand dollars to fund a scholarship for 2016. At the Sports Awards Gala, young athletes were recognised for their achievements. The purpose of this event was to appreciate those who are representing the community in a positive manner and to encourage those who are yet to be a part of such endeavours to pave their paths in similar directions to attain success. We held a Drug Gang Conference in October with over 400 youth in attendance. The target audience was youth along with families to aware them of the lifestyle of drugs and gangs and the affects that tog along. We held this event with Odd Squad Productions, a non-profit which aims to bring awareness among youth via powerful multimedia presentations. Many parents were thrilled to bring their kids to
45
this sort of an event to show them what involvement in negative behaviour can do to their lives. Feedback from audience suggested the presentation was informative and powerful and they are looking forward to more of these events in the near future. For the month of November, Kids Play held a 3 on 3 Ball Hockey Tournament. We gave away 800$ of cash prizes to winning teams to encourage positive behaviour through involvement in sports. To end off the year and prepare for new projects in the upcoming year, we are organising a food drive for the homeless in December. We are obliged to give back to the community and will be providing the homeless with food for the holiday season to spread warmth and cheer for all. While engagement in sports keeps children off the streets, it also instills valuable lessons in their lives. Sports play a pivotal role in attaining crucial values – discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, sacrifice and accountability. Involvement in sports teaches kids the meaning of excellence and, gives them a resistant attitude towards negativity. Once a habit is attained, it is hard to let go of – so why not instill in our children the positive habits that will help them reach high levels of success and satisfaction. The society will be issuing taxable receipts under the name: Kids Play Youth Foundation, once the charitable status is gained. The success of Kids Play hinges on the generous contributions of our sponsors who have supported us financially and in the form of goods and services, our volunteers who spend endless hours organising events and our local communities that have decided to rally behind our cause. Building a brighter future for our youth, one game at a time.

here are many reasons that kids should play outside one of the among is expressing creativity to and freely run for making messes without worrying about house being durty. In addition to these fun reasons, there are also many health benefits that make outdoor play good for children. Here is an insight on the physical and mental health benefits of getting kids outside.

Improves Vision
A study reported by Optometry and Vision Science found that children who spend time outside have better distance vision than those who primarily play indoors.
Promotes Social Skills
Ross believes in getting kids outside and having unstructured play promotes a wide range of skills. “On a playground not everyone gets to go down the slide first. Going to a playground with your kids is not just about running around and being active, but it’s also about learning social skills, executive functions and behavioral skills as well throu..0gh play.”
Increases Attention Span Huang notices the benefits of playing outside in her own kids: “The difference I see is both of my children have a high attention span comparatively speaking, and much more self-directed (they want to investigate things), where other kids might just sit back.” Studies have also shown that green outdoor settings appear to reduce ADHD symptoms in children. Exposure to natural settings through after-school and weekend activities may be widely effective
in reducing attention deficit symptoms in children.
Reduces Stress When it comes to stress, Legendre tends to rely on natural remedies. “Spending time outside playing is such a huge outlet for stress. It’s relaxing; it is healing.” There is even research showing that seeing green spaces can help decrease kids’ stress levels.”
Provides Vitamin D According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, lots of kids are suffering
from vitamin D deficiencies. This vitamin has several health benefits, including preventing kids from future bone problems, diabetes and even heart disease. Vitamin D can be received by supplements, but you can also get it through inatural version: i.e. sunlight. Have your kids play outside for a few minutes without sun screen (which blocks cancer-causing rays, but also vitamin D). Then slather on the lotion. Of course, if your child burns easily, use the sunscreen as it increases the vitamin D-heavy foods and supplements.

Today, we spot joint families only in daily soaps or in a few Bollywood movies. But if you love watching films like Hum Saath Saath Hain and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, if you have always been around people, if you have lived in a family that is perpetually cooking, then you know exactly what we are talking about.
Read on as we explain why living in a joint family is the best experience ever.
1. You company.

watching a movie, someone who will be excited about ordering a pizza, and someone who will accompany you to for the shopping. Especially when you were at your bad time, someone is always their for you to boost up your life.
2. You learn the true meaning of ‘sharing is caring’. From food, clothes, gadgets, rooms, cars, drivers, makeup, you are used to sharing every little thing.
3. Your parents are proud of your adjustment skills.
Staying with so many people has inculcated moral values in you. Moreover, everyone in your family has contributed to your upbringing. You know when to speak and when to keep shut. Most importantly, you know what it is to respect elders. Undoubtedly, the credit for that goes to the great Indian joint family.
4. Weddings in the family are way more fun. There is always someone or the other getting married in your family or your extended family. The celebrations don’t end. The shopping doesn’t

A Joint Family Is The Best Thing Ever end. And the dancing definitely doesn’t end.
5. Living with a big family inculcates team spirit. ‘One for all and all for one.’
6. There are stories and there are more stories. Knock on the door and you’ll hear an anecdote. Everybody is full of stories about their childhood, days of struggle, first love and what not. And each one is as interesting as the last. In fact, people who grow up in a joint
family always enjoy the family gatherings because there is just so much to talk about.
7. There is no dearth of advice. From perfect tips on how to make sooji ka halwa to how to not get angry at your husband, in a joint family, you will get answers to solve all your queries.
8. There are several good cooks in your family. And someone or the other is always ready to make pakodas with green chutney.
9. Rakshabandhan and almost all other festivals are like a family reunion. No matter where you are, everyone gets together to celebrate the festival in its true spirit. Usually these gathering turn into a never-ending party.
10. Family vacations and picnics happen a little too often. Spontaneous plans are your thing. It’s simple, everyone packs their bags and are ready to go. Potlucks happen almost every weekend.

Virat Kohli : successful run-chaser in T20Is
M
emories of Nagpur may have flooded in when India were reduced to 23 for three in their runchase against Pakistan in the ICC World T20 2016. If the 10 victories in 11th T20 Internationals, before this tournament created an aura of near-invincibility, Nagpur was a rude shock that brought them to earth. To overcome those psychological barriers, India needed Virat Kohli’s authority. The question
aftet that comes, is there a better batsman in run-chases? In 14 successful chases in T20s he averages a mind-boggling of 109.16. In the post-match press conference, Dhoni spoke on how differently people reacted to the situations in different ways. Champions see adversity as an opportunity to rise. Kohli’s body languaget shows itsself the sentiment in a run-chase. Even in the most improbable cases, he is a picture of calm, calculating his way through the innings. There is an air of aggressive dependability. Though he doesn’t seem to take risks, his batting puts the opposition on the backfoot. At no stage he wants to look like that India were struggling for its victory. The strike kept working over and the boundaries flowed whenever the opportunity came up with the Virat Kohli. Performance of Virat Kohli in the Asia cup Eden Gardens was packed, with celebrities gracing the stage. The ghosts of India’s defeat in the opening game also lingered. Thus, he not only had to play the game, but also the situation around it. There too, he does a magnificent job in switching himself off the external factors to focus on the job at hand. The other impressive thing was the way he carries the batting around him. Though senior in age and experience, Yuvraj Singh took a backstage and Kohli was clearly the leader in the partnership. At the same time, one mustn’t forget Yuvraj’s contribution for it was vital to Kohli’s knock. By the time their partnership ended, India were well on course to victory. Thereafter, all this occasion needed was Dhoni’s trademark finish to complete it. While this victory will boost India’s confidence, they have to think a little bit about the No. 4 spot. Right since the Asia Cup, there have been calls to perhaps get Yuvraj at that spot ahead of Suresh Raina.

How to prevent Suga By: Surinder Shaun Kochhar LPN, FCN
According to estimates, an average Canadian consumes 72 kg of sugar every year. Ironically, in some cases, it exceeds the weight of an average individual.
S
ugar addiction is another name for successive sugar cravings. An over-indulgence in sweets and other sugary treats has been stamped as a sugar addiction. This good-for-bad- health sugar addiction daily result in many irreversible/chronic health complications in the long term, including obesity, heart disease, diabetes, gingivitis, tooth decay, certain types of cancer, kidney problems [nephropathy], eye problems [retinopathy] and nervous system break down [neuropathy] are common complications. More amputations are happening in the world due to diabetes than accidents. What a sad state of affairs? Needless to add that a high consumption of sugar, intermittently, do cause mood swings and make you feel fatigued, hyper, irritableanxious, or aggressive. Some of the negative effects of sugar are linked to its effect on insulin, a hormone that helps sugar to be transferred from the blood into the body cells. There it is used as a fuel/energy along with oxygen for activities of daily living. One table spoon [15 gm] of sugar also known as sucrose has 58 calories. One tbl spoon [21gm] of Honey have 64 calories. Honey is as bad as table sugar in terms of calories for a diabetic person. Though on nutrition front honey is far better than table sugar. Most of the honey

ar Cravings Naturally available on East Asian stores locally is adulterated. The best choice which is pure and available locally is Manuka Honey. An average East Indian consumes approx. 200gm of sugar a day per se all the intake . Those who do manual work can partly justify this but for the rest of us, we are inviting trouble by being a slave to our taste buds. An excess of sugar in the blood, hamperst he normal functioning of ten systems inside the body. Refined sugar [table sugar] is void of vitamins and minerals, so your body will have to borrow these nutrients from healthy cells in order to metabolize the sugary food. This will cause your body to deplete its stores of vitamins (especially vitamin C and the B complex vitamins), minerals, and enzymes. Despite having insight on the ill effects of sugar on health, we seem to surrender to our around 8000 taste buds [gustatory perception] in the mouth and add sugar to our foods. The sad part is, unknowingly, we indulge in highly processed store-bought foods that contain loads of added sugar. According to estimates, the average Canadian consumes 60kg -72 Kg of sugar every year.In some cases even more than the person’s weight as on date. The Nutriion Value Charts are fudged to promote sales. Daily we buy slow death for us. Eating too much sugar can also have an impact on our mood by making us tired, irritable, Why is itso difficult to beat sugar craving ? The answer lies in our evolution: Our ancestors , during the primitive age, lived in an environment where quick sources of energy were hard to find , and thus they were always looking for foods which provide an abundance of readily available energy. Sugar is an excellent source of energy plus a sweet taste typically tickled their taste buds. Since all their calories were heavily manual they consumed more calories . But their food was least processed The problem these days is that we eat far more sugar than our ancestors ever could and least manual work in comparison . Also the type of sugar we tend to consume [refined cane sugar] makes us more vulnerable to health problems. Rather than indulging in healthy sweet treats like berries or low GI fruit we often opt for unhealthy snacks containing concentrated amounts of white table sugar. This highly refined sugar has little nutritional value; yet it is high in calories. It is GOOD FOR BAD HEALTH, a proven fact beyond an iota of doubt. What happens inside our body after we eat sugar Inside our body at a cellular level, sugar and other sweet substances appearto stimulate the brain’s beta-endorphin receptor sites. Endorphins are produced by the central nervous system and the pituitary gland. It consists of two parts: endo- and -orphin; these are short forms of the words endogenous means [originating inside the body] and morphine, intended to mean “a morphine-like substance originating from within the body”. [1] The class of endorphin compounds includes α-endorphin, β-endorphin, γ-endorphin, α-neo-endorphin, and β-neoendorphin. The principal function of endorphins is to inhibit the transmission of pain signals PLUS they also produce a feeling of euphoria /pleasure, very similar to that produced by other opioids. This is the reason why we compellingly fail to control our sugar cravings at par with drug addicts .

“For Better experience, Best taste” A recent maiden visit to IHOP- Restaurant company franchisee (20 years in existence) on 82nd ave and 120th street, Surrey(BC Canada)happens to be an interesting one. When I finally arrived, a hearty, hospitable reception by Mr Gary Kelbert Owner/ Operator put me at ease.
By Surinder Shaun Kochhar
F
irst of all, an ever smiling logo of this IHOP set me into a good mood with hunger hormone ghrelin gushing in my stomach. As I could not help smiling, what flashed into my mind was an image of laughing Buddha – which depicts plenitude of happiness and satisfaction. “Everything You Love About Breakfast”, the hook line of the company gives a fair idea that they are specialist and cater to breakfast eating in particular. To my pleasant surprise they serve with pleasure a multicultural and wide
variety of items which are a part of lunch and supper with their leading competitors as the place [s] are open up to late hours on seven days a week and around the year. IHOP is an acronym which stands for International House of Pancake. True to its humble beginnings, 58 years back they started as pancake specialist and now they serve over 12 types of pancakes. Apart from that also serve French toast with scores of bread types, omelettes, onion rings, waffles, crème crepes, salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers, fish, chicken burgers, beverages hot and cold, deserts, and other nonvegetarian items to quote a few. In fine, one can safely say, that it caters to every strata of society and age group, be it for kids, adults or 55 plus senior citizens. The food quality with this, a billion dollor company with charity in their heart, is par excellence. Change is the only constant factor in life. With restaurant industry, new items keep on getting added in succession to tickle the taste buds. Further enquiries revealed that they are adding new items in beverages and meals in few weeks with festivities around the corner. After eating, I came out full and satisfied due to the amazing experience, and the great tasting food. I hope to see you soon.Happy eating!!!!
