on’t be quick to make vague resolutions like ‘being less picky, ‘being more communicative,’ or the Carrie Bradshaw-approved, ‘love myself first!’ Analyse what these actually mean? Without tangible or specific actions, it’s all too easy for well-intentioned goals to fall by the wayside. Allow the power of manifestation to wash over you and repeat the following to yourself

in your own interests is sexy, sometimes they will stop dating you because they find someone else who does, in fact, love rock climbing. Either way, your authenticity is a win in and of itself. I will not agree to go on a date that will eat up on my savings or if I have to borrow money. Let’s face it we all have days when we are tapped out of cash. Why put yourself in a place that will make you uncomfortable? Try a video call or a virtual date night instead.

I will not bother wasting time on that one person from my past who always texts me when they’re in town just because I’m bored. It hasn’t been good all this while, why would it be good this time? Let’s leave this in the 2010’s. I will stop matching with people who don’t upload their pics in their profile. If we all commit to this, we can eradicate it for good. I will respect my body, heart, and mind by waiting until the third date to follow someone on Instagram. Don’t give all your sweet memes and fire OOTDs out for free. Make them work for it. You two hit it off and discuss the future of driverless cars. Worst case scenario? You never see him again, but at least you finally understand Bitcoin. I will not pretend to like rock climbing just to relate to the person I want to date. Sometimes they will think your security

eteran director Mahesh Manjrekar who has directed the upcoming war drama series, 1962: The War In The Hills, says collaborating with international action director Don Lee has taken the show to the next level. Lee has directed stunts in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise and Star Trek Beyond, among other global hits. Manjrekar’s series is inspired by the 1962 Indo-China war, and showcases how 125 Indian soldiers valiantly fought over 3000 Chinese soldiers at Rezang La and Galwan Valley.

“Don used to write a story of what we were going to shoot, and choreographed it well in advance, which worked fantastically for me. It became easier, and the climax that he shot was brilliant. Don was absolutely prepared but at the same time open to suggestions because he was working on a terrain which was

alien to him,” said Manjrekar. The filmmaker recalled: “On the fifth day of shoot Don started eating spicy food and with his hands during lunchtime. He used to ask me, ‘Kya banaya hai’! We shot in different locations and he knew all the food places in Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani. He knew these two

or three hotels and would say, ‘I am going there to eat’. We became friends and that’s why it was easier working with him. Don loves to eat fish and had even asked me if he could take some home because he wanted his mom to taste it. Our good relationship made working together easier and I miss him sometimes. I really want him to come down and do another film with me. Don was a fantastic asset to the show.” The series has been shot in the higher terrains of Ladakh and remote villages across India, and it features Abhay Deol, Akash Thosar, Sumeet Vyas, Rohan Gandotra, Annup Sonii, Meiyang Chang, Mahie Gill, Rochelle Rao, and Hemal Ingle among others. 1962: The War In The Hills, a 10-episode series, streams on Disney+ Hotstar VIP and Disney+ Hotstar Premium from February 26. Knee surgery post-op rehab: How to ensure a speedy recovery

ecovering from knee surgery does not happen overnight. The timelines and regimens differ from one person to another and depend on several factors. If you are about to undergo surgery, it helps to read and learn as much as you can about what most people experience. Here are a few things you need to know about recovering from knee surgery. What To Do Before The Surgery Before the operation, you need to clarify with your surgeon the amount of time you need to recover. Ask them how many days you will need off work and about post-op restrictions or postsurgery physiotherapy you must complete. Your surgeon could tell you how quickly you would need to speak with a physio or what exercises to avoid in the first few weeks. Speak to them about your personal goals and when you can start engaging in moderate physical activities like running. The stronger your knees leading up to you going under the knife, the better your results. If possible, have a physio come up with a recovery plan before the surgery. What To Do Immediately After The Surgery www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

Right after the operation, expect your knee to be swollen and painful. Regular icing, elevation, and use of a compression bandage will help. These things help the edema settle down quickly. Some post-op recovery features remain the same whether you’ve had a minor arthroscopy, an ACL reconstruction, or a knee replacement. Following knee injuries of any kind, the stabilizing quadriceps switch off, which leads to your thigh muscles atrophying. As such, you could experience feelings of instability and weakness. Your patella will also exhibit poor tracking. Address these issues through ‘quads setting,’ which activates your quads muscles and gets them back in shape for controlling your knees. First, you need to lie on your back and straighten your operated knee. Then, press the back of your knee to the ground, making sure you tighten your thighs’ front muscles. Hold the position for three to five seconds, relax, and repeat this ten times. Aim for three to four sets of this sequence per day. The swelling and pain will also cause you to lose your range of movement. Start motion exercises like bending and straightening your knee early on, so you can regain your range as soon as possible. ubina came into the reality show with a huge fan base she had earlier garnered with her roles in shows such as Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Chotti Bahu, and she took home the Bigg Boss trophy plus Rs 36 lakh. Over 140 days of battle inside the house had seen Rubina maintain her position all along as a strong contender for the trophy. She defeated Rakhi Sawant, Aly Goni, Rahul Vaidya and Nikki Tamboli in the grand finale. Rakhi, who entered the show as a challenger in the middle of the season and created some fireworks in the later episodes, was admired for her dose of entertainment in the show. She chose to walk out by taking a briefcase with Rs 14 lakh in the final. After walking out, Rakhi said on the stage: “I am very happy with this. I will pay for my mother’s hospital bills with this (money). Initially I did not want to take it but Vindu Dara Singh said that you will not win because everyone here is very big.” Talking about her decision, show host Salman Khan said Rakhi took the right call by walking out with the briefcase. The top five contestants were also seen performing before Rubina was feted with the winner’s tag. Rakhi performed her famous numbers such as Pardesiya, Dekhta hai tu kya and social media content maker Yashraj Mukhate’s Rakhi’s Bigg Boss mash-up Saandni.

Rubina Dilaik wins show

Television actress Rubina Dilaik was declared winner of Bigg Boss season 14, in a star-studded grand finale.

Salman was seen enjoying her performance as he grooved and whistled. After her performance he was heard praising her: “Rakhi, what do you do! After a really long time I saw an entertaining performance.” He described her dance as “outstanding”.

Madhuri, Dharmesh, Tushar were present in Bigg Boss to promote their upcoming dance based reality show Dance Deewane 3. Nora, who was a contestant in the ninth season, set the stage on fire with her performance on numbers like O saki saki and Garmi.

Aly Goni and Jasmin Bhasin, who are fondly called Jasly by their fans, put up a stunning water act on the number Zara zara.

While talking to Rahul, Rubina and Nikki, Nora said: “Bahut saare memories aa rahi hai (several memories are coming back).”

Rahul and Ali performed on tracks such as Yeh dosti, Main khiladi tu anari. Nikki Tamboli joined the boys. The trio performed on rapper Badshah’s Genda phool.

One of the highlights of the show was when Salman shook a leg with Nora. He was seen performing the hook steps of Nora’s hit dances such as Dilbar, “O saki saki, and Garmi with her.

Veteran actor Dhamendra, whom Salman tagged as “Darling” of decades, “most handsome hero” and his favourite actor, entered the show on the number Yamla pagla deewana. While talking to the contestants and host, the 85-year-old veteran said: “I did not become an actor for fame. I saw Dilip saab and I saw the love. That is what I wanted.” Salman, Dharmendra and Rakhi later reenacted an iconic scene from Sholay.

Another highlight was Salman dancing with former contestant Sonali Phogat on the number Tip tip barsa paani from the 1994 film Mohra. Also present at the finale were eliminated housemates Jaan Kumar Sanu, Pavitra Punia, Eijaz Khan, Kashmira Shah, Rahul Mahajan, Arshi Khan, Shehzaad Deol, Jasmin Bhasin, Shardul Pandit, Naina Singh and Devoleena Bhattacharjee. India’s first film on mud racing titled ‘Muddy’ to open in 5 languages

amil star Vijay Sethupati announced India’s first film on mud racing titled Muddy, with a motion poster he unveiled last month. The film will release in five languages Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. “Happy to share the official motion poster of MUDDY, INDIA’s FIRST MUD RACE MOVIE. #muddymovie,” he wrote with the announcement on Facebook.

Taboo topics need to be addressed through cinema

yushmann Khurranas film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan released a year ago in February. The samesex love story cast him as a gay person. The Bollywood actor says it takes time and effort to normalise topics that are prone to be hushed up by society. “Taboo topics need to be constantly addressed through our cinema because it can really help alter the mindset of people. It takes a lot of time and effort to normalise taboo subjects and bring about constructive changes in society. I’m glad that we tried to contribute towards making the conversation about same-sex relationships in India mainstream through Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan,” Ayushmann said. He added: “If it has had some impact on the minds of people, then we have done our job.” For him, the film was a success story because Indian families watched the film. “The fact that the film became a success, told

me that people want to engage and have a conversation on such important subjects. The fact that Indian families came out and watched this film was the biggest success story for me because our families can contribute so much to foster a spirit of inclusivity when it comes to same-sex relationships,” he said. Ayushmann recalled how many people in the industry advised him not to sign the film. “I was thrilled with the response towards this film because everyone told me I was doing a very tricky film and that no one would accept this kind of cinema. Instead, I was humbled with appreciation. The success of this film is in how it was accepted as a commercial film and how it has hopefully done its job to pave a path for many other films on such subjects to be made.” “I have always wanted to reach out and have a conversation with people about the subjects that I have addressed through my movies. Hola Mohalla: Punjab’s rich and colorful tradition

A

day assigned for mock battles for his troops by the 10th guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh, has come to be the symbol of Punjab’s own rich religious and cultural tradition. The festival of ‘Hola Mohalla’, as it is known, takes place around Holi in the Sikh religious town of Anandpur Sahib. Hola Mohalla, celebrated a day after Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, has carved out its own unique place in Punjab’s and Sikh religion’s calendar. The

festival made its beginning around 1701 as Guru Gobind Singh wanted his troops to have mock battles to keep them battle ready. Tens of thousands of Nihang Sikhs assemble in this town, home to Takht Keshgarh Sahib, the second holiest of Sikh shrines (after Harmandar Sahib or Golden Temple in Amritsar), every year to be part of the festival. The shrine is famous as it was here that Guru Gobind Singh founded the ‘Khalsa Panth’, the modern day Sikh religion, in

April 1699. During the festivities, various sects (deras) of Nihangs go in a procession from the main gurdwara and pass through the holy town. The procession then culminates at a stadium where the Nihang Sikhs perform ‘Gatka’, a traditional form of martial art in which age-old weapons and equipment are used to showcase mock battles. “It is an amazing sight to see the Gatka performance. The festivity around the procession and the colorful atmosphere make it a great spectacle to watch,” travel writer and author Puneetinder Kaur Sidhu told in an

interview. Though the Hola Mohalla festivities earlier used to be essentially mock combat based, these have gradually also turned into a politico-religious affair. Leading political parties hold their political conferences before the main event. Millions of devout assemble at the shrine to offer prayers on the occasion. “It is such an enriching and unique experience to be part of the Hola Mohalla. We have been bringing groups of foreigners from various countries since 2009 to see the event. “They are amazed at what is on display. The weaponry and colorful atmosphere are a thing to experience,” Harkirat Ahluwalia, who runs a tented luxury farm resort near Hoshiarpur, 75 km from here, told in an interview. Ahluwalia even bought a group of 22 Germans for the Hola Mohalla in past few years. “The groups of Nihang Sikhs converge here on foot, on horse backs, elephants, trucks, tractortrolleys and other vehicles,” Sidhu said. “It is a spectacle.” In the buildup to the main event of Hola Mohalla, all roads and highways leading to Anandpur Sahib are choked with people being ferried on trucks, buses and other modes of transport. Try looking at your resolutions as reflections Look back and observe what went right the last time you signed up to something, use that sense of accomplishment to sign up to your next task. Here’s where your lifestyle and sweet tooth can enjoy alignment. Make simple changes in your day, like swapping white sugar for low calorie sweeteners to observe achievable results. Do not deprive yourself from indulging, but indulge right. You don’t need to completely give up your sweet cravings, it’s the sugar that needs the ditching. Resolutions are only the first step towards change. We’re only human, and temptation and lethargy are bound to find you. It is completely okay if you have almost given up as long as you identify the fact that you did and restart from scratch. We all stumble, but it’s those who get back up that make the difference. eality TV star Kim has filed for divorce from her rapperhusband Kanye West, according to reports. Kim and Kanye have been married for about seven years and have four children together. The news was broken by website TMZ after months of rumours of marital difficulties, reports bbc.com. According to reports, Kim has requested joint legal and physical custody of their children. Kim became a household name in 2007 starring in the reality series about her family, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”, which has re-

mained hugely popular. The final season of the series is scheduled to be telecast next year.

Kanye, who appeared on the show in 2010, was good friends with Kim before they chose to cement the relationship with marriage. Another cause is the litter box. There are many issues that can arise around the topic of the litter box, as in the amount of them available in the house, the material of the litter used, the actual box itself and even the location of the box. Just like humans, there are different personalities for different cats. Some cats do not like to urinate or defecate in the same box every time. Some prefer to have a separate box for each floor of the house for easy access. Especially in the case of multiple cat households, majority cats do not like to use the same box together. They prefer to have their own separate areas to urinate and defecate in. A general rule to abide by for those who are in multiple cat households, it is important to have one litter box per cat. Some might even require more than one. It is also important to have at least one litter box on each floor of the residence. This is especially important for kittens and young cats, because just like human babies, they are not yet in full control of their urination and defecation holding times. Therefore, they may need accessibility to a litter box more quickly than adult cats that are better trained. A behavioral tip to remember is to never scold or punish your feline pet near its litter box. This is an example of positive punishment. Despite the word positive being used, it is in fact very negative for development. The cat will then associate the litter box to be something negative and will be prone to peeing on your bed more to avoid the box. It is also possible

that your cat does not like the certain material of the litter being used. Therefore, it avoids the material and pees on a comfier area, such as your bed. Certain odors available for marketed litter and texture of the litter can be distracting and actually uncomfortable for your cat. It is always recommended by veterinarians that odorless and clumping litter is the best to use. The type of litter box may also be an issue. It is better to use an easily accessible litterbox that is open and not restricted. Also make sure that the size of the litterbox matches with the size of your cat. Some owners will unknowingly provide a smaller box than needed and the cat will not find it comfortable to use then. Accessibility of the litterbox is another important point. It is wise to choose a location where the cat has no trouble reaching and using quickly. An open area that is on ground level is the best way to go. A crowded area or near another pet, such as a dog’s rest place, will feel unsafe to your cat and it will not want to use the box then. Therefore, safety is another concern to keep in mind. When your cat begins to pee on your bed, due to behavioral issues, it is important to keep in mind that this behavior can be easily prevented with cooperation of fulfilling your cat’s needs. r. Gill was a great human being imbued with extraordinary qualities of head and heart and it was his vision and able leadership that became a driving force behind PICS Society. His tireless efforts made PICS develop into a major community organization in the Lower Mainland offering multiple programs and services to the community, including language and settlement services, employment programs, housing for seniors, second stage transition home for immigrant women, training, and programs for women and youth. At a very young age, since the day he landed in Canada, Mr. Gill involved himself in community work and social activism. He was a founding member of the Canadian Farm Workers Union and also served as the President of the BC Organization to Fight Racism. Mr. Gill followed his heart and loved to work for seniors, immigrants, youth and the working poor. He was honoured with many prestigious awards including the Order of British Columbia, for the yeoman’s work he carried out in the field of human rights and social cause.

ero waste lifestyle is another trendy internet term that is gaining more and more popularity, but it is definitely for the better. You might have heard of it, or even known about it for a while, but the task of switching to a new lifestyle that requires several extra steps of mindfulness can be rather daunting. With that in mind, here is your guide to starting a zero waste lifestyle that will make it much easier for you to transition, and even if you don’t make the complete move it will significantly help reduce your carbon footprint. 1. Invest in reusables for the kitchen Start with a water bottle, and then get yourself a collection of mason jars, food grade boxes, steel containers, reusable

towels and napkins, metals straws, and everything else. Do not make the mistake of throwing away everything in your kitchen to start with, that will create so much waste when you can simply avoid it. Instead prolong the life of items you would otherwise trash mindlessly, and make sure every purchase you make now onwards is oriented towards your zero waste goal. While you are at it, stock up on some reusable bags as well! 2. Grow your own when you can Buying anything from the grocery store means you will have to deal with packaging which is definitely going to end up in the trash. By growing your own veggies and herbs in the backyard or garden you can bring down all carbon emissions related to the produce you use. If you cannot grow your own, consider going to a farmer’s market on a weekly basis to get the supplies you need. You can also find cheese, milk, homemade cleaners, and other useful items there which come in little to no packaging which can also be recycled. 3.Start to recycle and compost As you start the journey, you will realise it is unrealistic not have any excess that you cannot use. The challenge is not to completely free your house of anything

that cannot be used, but rather recycle or compost whatever you cannot use. Dedicate a can to compostable waste and another to recyclable waste. Invest some time segregating through your waste efficiently and you will end up with waste that doesn’t end up in landfills after one use! 4.Practice the principles of self control Get into the habit of not buying anything that tickles your fancy. Everytime you are about to make a purchase take a small moment to consider the impact your purchase will have on the environment and whether or not you will produce waste upon this purchase. 5.Reduce what you use and get support from others too! By reducing the amount of things you use and rationing your supplies you will only use what you need, which in turn will relatively produce less waste. Start reading and researching about the newfound interest and interact with others who are looking to do the same to get support, encouragement, and inspiration! While it is impossible to entirely create no waste whatsoever, being careful of the amount you produce and then recycling, reusing, and composting to make up will definitely all add up to help achieve your goals of a sustainable existence.

Meenu woke up at around 11:30 A.M. Her head was aching badly. We fed Meenu with some light food and took her to Surrey hospital Emergency department again. A doctor checked Meenu and told that she had had concussions. Her head injury had impacted her brain too. I couldn’t help crying. Mom-inlaw consoled me and quieted me down. The doctor advised us to see our family doctor and get an appointment with a neurosurgeon soon. We came home. Meenu and Amrit went to their room, and I came into mine. We all got busy in our chores. In the evening, I called my mom in India. Dad told me that mom had diabetic problem and she was also having high blood pressure. I asked dad to take care of mom properly and not to worry about Meenu. I invoked god to help my mom, Meenu and her unborn child. A few weeks later, Baljit called me to tell that Canada embassy in India had called both of us for an interview. Meenu’s delivery was also due almost at the same time. My IELTS exam date and embassy interview date were also

almost very close. There were always some sorts of obstacles whenever I wanted to move forward in my life. I was unable to understand why it happened so. The next day, I canceled my IELTS exam date. I saw many advertisements of many Babas and Matas in some papers, claiming to solve all types of domestic, financial or career problems magically with guarantee. The other day, I called several numbers and told them my problems. Every one claimed he or she could solve all my problems in a jiffy. Someone told me that our neighbor had cast a magic spell on me. Another said one of my relatives had caused magic obstacles in our progress. Almost all of them wanted me to pay five hundred dollars by my credit card. I asked one guy to give me some proof before I pay him money. He asked me my date, month, year and place of birth, and told me some correct and some irrelevant stories related to me. Nobody could convince me fully. Therefore I trusted none. In India, my mom had also wasted lots of money on such things. “How could they afford to

put so expensive newspaper ads every week? They must be looting ignorant people a lot. Hey Waheguru! Only you are my saviour.”, I thought and prayed in my mind. I read Sukhmani Sahib once again that day. I tried to calm myself down, and started reading it a second time. 44. Spiritual knowledge I began pondering over Sukhmani sahib. Rice Dhokla The all-time favorite Gujarati snack made with rice flour, suji and mild spices. Light and lovely! INGREDIENTS: 4 200 gm (1 3/4 cups) rice flour 4 30 gm (1/4 cup) suji (semolina) 4 100 ml (1/2 cup) yogurt 4Sugar to taste 44 tsp oil 41/2 tsp mustard seeds 4 1-2 whole red peppers 4A pinch of asafoetida powder 4 Water as required

4 Salt to taste 4 1 tsp lemon juice 4 2, 6” greased metal plates for cooking the dhokla

METHOD: 4 -Mix together the rice flour, suji, yogurt, sugar and 1 tsp oil into a smooth paste. 4 -Add enough water so as to make a batter of dropping consistency. 4 -Add the lemon juice and asafoetida and leave to ferment overnight. 4 -Keep the steamer over the stove for the water to boil.

4 -Pour batter into prepared plates, cover and steam for 20 minutes. Remove, cool and cut into cubes. 4 - Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, when crackling add the red pepper, when the colour darkens add 2 Tbsp water, bring to a boil and pour over the dhokla cubes. 4 -Garnish by sprinkling grated coconut and coriander leaves

Easy jerk chicken with rice & peas A Caribbean classic, this recipe makes a delicious and satisfying weekday meal INGREDIENTS: 4 2 tbsp sunflower oil 4 1kg chicken thighs and drumsticks 4 1 bottle jerk barbecue sauce (Levi Roots or Walkerswood from Waitrose) 4 1 bunch spring onions, sliced For the rice and peas 4 200g basmati rice 4 2 x 410g cans kidney beans 4 400g can coconut milk 4 1 bunch spring onions, chopped 4 1 thyme Sprig 4 1 garlic clove, chopped 4 1 tsp allspice

METHOD: 4 1. Heat oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Heat the oil in a roasting tin, then carefully add the chicken pieces. Brown them lightly on all sides – it will take about 6-8 mins. Pour over the jerk sauce, scatter over the sliced spring onions, then toss to coat each piece of chicken. 4 2. Roast the chicken for 30 mins, turning occasionally to ensure it gets nice and sticky. 4 3. While the chicken is cooking, make the rice & peas. Rinse the rice in a sieve until the water runs clear. Bring a pan of water to the boil with the liquid only

from the kidney beans, the coconut milk, spring onions, thyme, garlic, allspice and some salt, then simmer for 10 mins. Add the beans, then simmer for 5 mins more until the rice is tender. Drain and serve straight away with the chicken.

DIRECTIONS: 4 1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta in boiling water until tender yet firm to the bit, 8 to 10 minutes; drain. 4 2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic; saute until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Stir in the chicken and cook, stirring occasionally, until chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, about 5 to 6 minutes. 4 3. Reduce heat to mediumlow; add artichoke hearts, tomato, feta cheese, parsley, lemon juice, oregano, and cooked pasta. Cook and stir until heated through, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat, season with salt and pepper, and garnish with lemon wedges.

While South Africa’s delicious signature dish -- the Bunny Chow (also simply known as the ‘bunny’) is widely known in in the Rainbow Nation, very few Indians know about it. A curry lover’s answer to a lunch box, the dish consists of a hollowed-out loaf of white bread -- basically a bread bowl -- filled with meat or vegetable curry. It is often served with a side of grated carrot, chilli and onion salad.

The curry is a thick homage to homecooked stews, lightly flavoured with Indian spices such as coriander, turmeric, and cumin. While traditionally the curry was made of vegetables or beans, today there are several nonvegetarian takes on the original. A bunny chow prepared in quarter, half, or full sizes, and is usually eaten with fingers by tearing off pieces from the top or sides and dipping it into the curry. With DIY recipes easily available on YouTube -- this is one great activity to bond over! It also comes with a good dose of colonial history for those interested in learning about origins of dishes.

Activity 2: Watch an early morning or late-evening South African safari Virtual safaris prove to be an excellent channel as they not only entertain and amaze, but also educate -- and are hence a huge hit with parents who otherwise sought out edutaining summer vacations/ camps for their children. HERE’S TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S UNPRECEDENTED MOVE TILL DATE! Amid the increasing and intensifying COVID-19 travel restrictions in Canada, the federal government recently announced the record-breaking Express Entry draw at 75 CRS (comprehensive ranking system) points for Canadian Experience Class under Federal Skilled Worker with inviting 27,332 skilled workers to apply for their Permanent Residency in Canada.

he year 2020 has already been full of some unpleasant surprises. On the contrary, it seems that the year 2021 has bestowed some pleasant surprises for the immigrants in Canada. Firstly, the post graduate work permit extension for a further of 18 months was a rare yet thoughtful action by the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) in achieving the immigration targets for 2021 despite of the hustle in rebuilding the Canadian economy amid the COVID-19 crisis. The second shocking yet considerate and tactful move of the Federal government was the unusual draw for the Express Entry conducted on Saturday of the long weekend in February 2021 which served as a ray of hope for thousands of temporary immigrants in Canada. This program began in 2015 and since the program’s commencement, this draw is the lowest Express Entry draw recorded in the immigration history. Prior to that the lowest express entry draw was conducted at 413 in September 2017. The unusual draw of February 2021 has some of the following astonishing revelations/facts: a) The day the draw was conducted: Usually, the Express Entry draw is conducted during the weekdays (mostly Wednesdays to Fridays), but this draw was conducted over the weekend, on a Saturday. b) CRS Score: The most recent CRS score recorded before this draw was at 454 for CEC on January 21, 2021. There was a steep decline in the latest draw in which the CRS score dropped down to 75 for CEC conducted on February 13, 2021. c) Invitations issued: Hav-

ing a look at the last year (2020) EE draws, the number of invitations issued ranged to maximum of 5000 approximately however this time, IRCC issued 27,332 ‘Invitation to apply’ to the registered candidates in the Express Entry pool. It was almost five times more than ever recorded in the history of EE system inception. d) E ligibility: Earlier any candidate registering in the Express Entry pool within Canadian Experience Class needs to have a single/ multiple post secondary education credentials, years of experience and a remarkable command over English/French language. This recent draw, however, has changed the entire eligibility pattern where a candidate with a minimum of CLB 5 score, a year’s experience with no or high school education can qualify to get an invitation which seems strange but true. After the draw was released, Attorney David Cohen quoted, “Today’s draw was almost six times larger than the previous Express Entry record of 5,000 ITAs. This goes to show Canada is committed to achieving its goal of welcoming over 400,000 immigrants this year.” In one of their official statements during the press conference, IRCC claimed that, the candidates who received the invitation, their ‘status may be temporary, but their contributions are lasting – and we’re hoping to help more of them stay permanently’. Tip 1: As a host, there is always one general rule to follow, which helps you never go wrong. Be generous with the wine you serve. Nothing is better than building great memories over a bottle of wine, so ensure you choose wisely and well. Tip 2: The festive season is a great time to experiment, when hosting intimate gatherings! We all have our tried and tested wines that we go back to, but why not expand your guest’s palettes by serving as many styles of wine as possible? When hosting a wine party at home, try to create an assortment of different bottles of wine, your guests can choose from. The beauty of wines is about enjoying the diversity of its various styles and discovering new tastes. Tip 3: It’s important to invest in good quality stemware to serve wine. It’s a fact that the taste of even the most ordinary wines is enhanced when served in proper glasses. Choose clear stemware with no design or cuts. Ensure the glass has a lovely, steady base, a stem to hold the glass with, a broad base at the bottom of the bowl, and narrow rims. Keep it simple yet high-quality, and you will never go wrong.

Tip 4: When hosting an evening at home, chances are that some of your guests will arrive with gifts of their own, many times, a bottle of wine. It becomes your duty to ask your guests if they would like you to open their bottle and serve the wine to the guests - often, wine-loving guests make a lot of effort to choose and bring a good quality bottle of wine to a party, and would therefore appreciate you and the rest of the guests, trying what they have brought. At other times, some guests are simply recycling bottles of wine they don’t want for themselves, so may not be comfortable with you opening their bottles at the party. Either way, it’s important that you ask them first, to let them decide if their bottle should be opened at the party or saved for later. Tip 5: As a host, especially one who loves wines, it is absolutely fine for you to take the stage so to speak, to tell your guests a little about the wines you’ve chosen for the evening, and why. These medications include fluticasone propionate (Flovent HFA, Flovent Diskus, Xhance), budesonide (Pulmicort Flexhaler, Pulmicort Respules, Rhinocort), ciclesonide (Alvesco), beclomethasone (Qvar Redihaler), mometasone (Asmanex HFA, Asmanex Twisthaler) and fluticasone furoate (Arnuity Ellipta).
You may need to use these medications for several days to weeks before they reach their maximum benefit. Unlike oral corticosteroids, inhaled corticosteroids have a relatively low risk of serious side effects. 4 Leukotriene modifiers. These oral medications — including montelukast (Singulair), zafirlukast (Accolate) and zileuton (Zyflo) — help relieve asthma symptoms.
Montelukast has been linked to psychological reactions, such as agitation, aggression, hallucinations, depression and suicidal thinking. Seek medical advice right away if you experience any of these reactions. 4 Combination inhalers. These medications — such as fluticasone-salmeterol (Advair HFA, Airduo Digihaler, others), budesonide-formoterol (Symbicort), formoterol-mometasone (Dulera) and fluticasone furoate-vilanterol (Breo Ellipta) — contain a longacting beta agonist along with a corticosteroid

triggered or worsened by allergies. These include: Allergy shots (immunotherapy). Over time, allergy shots gradually reduce your immune system reaction to specific allergens. You

generally receive shots once a week for a few months, then once a month for a period of three to five years. Biologics. These medications — which include omalizumab (Xolair), mepolizumab (Nucala), dupilumab (Dupixent), reslizumab (Cinqair) and benralizumab (Fasenra) — are specifically for people who have severe asthma.

Asthma action plan Work with your doctor to create an asthma action plan that outlines in writing when to take certain medications or when to increase or decrease the dose of your medications based on your symptoms. Also include a list of your triggers and the steps you need to take to avoid them. Your doctor may also recommend tracking your asthma symptoms or using a peak flow meter on a regular basis to monitor how well your treatment is controlling your asthma
