With the First Non-Stop Flight From Vancouver to Delhi
V
ancouver Airport Authority celebrated Air Canada’s inaugural seasonal three-time weekly service to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) from Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The highly anticipated service marks the first non-stop flight from Vancouver to India and highlights YVR’s continued growth as a premier connecting hub between Asia and the Americas. “Thanks to Air Canada’s commitment to growth out of its preferred transpacific hub, YVR has a direct link to one of the most iconic cultural centres and economic hubs in India,” said Craig Richmond, President & CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “This service has long been requested by our community. The much coveted route opens up access to key markets in business and travel and creates more jobs and opportunities for our communities.” Just in time for the vibrant festivities of Diwali, this new route is made possible by advances in aircraft technology allowing lighter aircrafts to fly further while requiring less fuel thereby improving the economic viability of the route. Air Canada will operate a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring 30 International Business Class lie-flat pod suites, 21 Premium Economy and 247 Economy Class seats with upgraded in-flight entertainment. “We are delighted to inaugurate our second route between Canada and India right in time for Diwali celebrations. Our non-stop flights from our Asia-Pacific Vancouver hub feature 787-9 Dreamliner service and offer the shortest elapsed flying time from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles to the Indian subcontinent,” said Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada. “Our non-stop flight, coupled with our streamlined and seamless connections process at YVR translates to a savings of 3-5 hours compared to itineraries with connections in Europe or Asia.” “We’re also excited to offer all our customers contemporary, inspired Indian dishes by celebrated Vancouver Chef Vikram Vij in all cabins of service on our Vancouver-Delhi and Toronto-Delhi flights, which complements the signature creations by internationally renowned Canadian Chef David Hawksworth in our International Business Class. Our state-of-the-art aircraft, multi-lingual crews, onboard offerings, in-flight entertainment which includes Bollywood hits and acclaimed multi-lingual art-house films, together with our extensive western Canada domestic and western US transborder network and the seamless connection experience through YVR all position Air Canada and YVR to be the preferred gateway hub for Pacific Northwest travel to and from India,” concluded Mr. Smith. As a direct result of the new Vancouver to Delhi service, more than 90 jobs were created at YVR and throughout British Columbia. And additional $5.4 million in Gross Domestic Product, $1.9 million in taxes and $3.4 million in wages were added to the province. “Having B.C. and India directly linked by air will help facilitate trade and business relationships as well as allow families and friends to come together more easily,” said British Columbia Finance Minister Michael de Jong. “On behalf of the Province of B.C. I’d like to thank Air Canada and Vancouver Airport Authority for working to establish this direct flight between B.C. and Delhi.” In 2015, close to 50% of passengers welcomed at YVR came on Air Canada aircraft. These numbers reflect the airlines exceptional growth out of YVR in the last two years with new routes to Osaka, Cancun, San Jose, San Diego, Chicago, Dublin, Brisbane and Delhi. Looking ahead to 2017, Air Canada will launch three new international destinations including daily service to Dallas Ft. Worth starting February 6, followed by thrice-weekly service to Nagoya on June 1 and daily service to Taipei on June 8. The flight departs YVR at 23:15, arriving in DEL at 01:55(+2) local time. It will depart DEL at 06:55 and arrive at YVR at 08:20. Flight times will be adjusted in early November to account for daylight savings. The flights are timed to optimize Air Canada’s Western Canada and US network through YVR.

‘Deadpool 2’ Loses Director Tim Miller Over Creative Differences
T
he director has parted ways with the studio over what insiders say are creative differences between him and Ryan Reynolds, the actor who plays the titular Marvel character. Tim Miller, who directed Deadpool and had a hand in giving Fox its biggest hit of the year, will not helm Deadpool 2. The filmmaker has parted ways with the studio over what insiders say are creative differences between him and Ryan Reynolds, the actor who plays the titular Marvel character. Deadpool made $786 million worldwide when it opened on Valentine’s Day this year, launching a new franchise for the studio. The movie re-energized Reynolds’ career but also began a second act for Miller, a visual-effects specialist who founded Blur Studio and made a name for himself making video game trailers and opening credits. By all accounts, the pic’s success was truly shared by Reynolds, who helped define the voice of the character for screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, as well as Miller. In fact, Miller is believed to be the one who leaked Deadpool test footage into the wilds of the internet, with the ensuing enthusiastic reaction being just what was needed to ensure that Fox, which was waffling over whether or not to make the movie, gave it the green light. Even before the film’s opening, the gang was back together plotting the follow-up. Deadpool 2 is in the casting stages and is in the middle of testing six actresses for the part of Domino, the project’s new female lead. Sources say Reynolds and Miller had increasingly butted heads over certain
creative issues. Reynolds was a producer on the original, along with Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner, but sources say his clout has increased exponentially on the sequel. Fox says the parting of ways is amicable and it is already jumping hand-in-hand with Miller into another project, Influx, the adaptation of a science-fiction novel by Dan.
Actress Kathryn Adams passes away
A
ctress Kathryn Adams, who starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s movie ‘Saboteur’, has died at the age of 96. Adams also appeared in the 1939 version of ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’, and was married to actor Hugh Beaumont, who starred in ‘50s TV series ‘Leave It to Beaver.’ She died at an assisted living facility on October 14 in Mankato, Minnesota, her daughter Kristan Beaumont told The Hollywood Reporter. Adams appeared alongside Ginger Rogers in the 1939 movie ‘Fifth Avenue Girl’, and was originally signed on to play Esmeralda in ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ later that year. However, lead actor Charles Laughton insisted on having Maureen O’Hara play the part, so Adams was relegated to a much smaller role in the film.
She went on to star as Mrs Brown, a young mother and the daughter of Otto Kruger’s mysterious Charles Tobin in Hitchcock’s 1942 thriller ‘Saboteur.’ Adams had small parts in Universal movies during her illustrious career before she married Hugh in 1942. The couple appeared in the 1946 movie ‘Blonde for a Day’, which was her final on-screen role. Hugh went on to portray father Ward Cleaver for six seasons on US show ‘Leave It to Beaver’, which aired from 1957 until 1963. He and Adams divorced in 1974, and he died in 1982 at the age of 73. Adams left acting to raise a family, and eventually became a teacher in Hollywood, a psychologist and an author. She married Dr Fred Doty in 1975, and he died in 2010. Adams is survived by her daughter Kristan, sons Hunter and Mark, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Katrina Kaif wins honour for her contribution to Bollywood
Prithviraj is set to make his directorial debut with Lucifer, and none other than Mohanlal will star in it!
T
wo talented artists are coming together for a movie with an intriguing title. It can’t better than this and we aren’t even exaggerating. It was today when Prithviraj took to social media to make this grand announcement. It was grand for two reasons, one that the star was making his directorial debut and the other, he was going to direct none other than Mohanlal! This ambitious project will be bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvad Cinemas. Filmmaker Murali Gopy will be the one writing the screenplay for this movie. It was in an earlier interview with IANS, that Prithviraj had revealed,”I soon plan to venture into direction. It gives me a different kind of creative high,” According to reports from a leading daily, the movie was a brainchild that had been conceptualised years go by Murali and late director Rajesh Pillai. Looks like Prithviraj is finally making it happen. Apart from Mohanlal and Murali, nothing about the cast and crew had been finalised. But we are excited to know everything about this project right from the word go! It was only recently, Prithviraj and Mohanlal clashed at the box office with Oozham and Oppam. Prithviraj’s movie is a thriller drama about revenge directed by Jeetu Joseph of Drishyam fame. The movie opened to mixed reviews while Mohanlal’s Oppam has opened to great reviews! It’s about a visually challenged who somehow gets embroiled in a murder and then senses the murderer lurking around, even though he is blind. Looks like Mohanlal is on a roll. He already had five films lined up for 2016 and now this! As for Prithviraj, Fans are going be pleasantly surprised.

Is competition necessary for the growth Today, we are living in the world of competition. Everybody feels stress due to the competitionineducation, sports, business, etc.Competitionsimplymeansoneperson succeeds only if the others fail.
S
ome people think that without competition one becomes lazy and loses motivation, ultimately causing failure. So competition not only builds character, but also produces excellence. It can motivate us to work harder and do better in order to achieve success, we therefore feel happy when we win the competition. But at the same time we also become selfish and self-centered to maintain that success. In the long run, the competition distracts us from our ultimate goals in life. Competition makes the children anxious that interferes with their concentration. When children`s main focus is rewarding the become less interested in what they are doing. To achieve the rewards, sometimes the child follows the wrong means like cheating. So it is like a catalyst for the moral decline of any individual. Children feel better,if the classrooms and fields are based on cooperation. By doing so, they can share their talents and resources. Co-operation helps them to gain relationships in the terms of having good friends. For the growth of any organization, co-operation is an important factor. Most of the work of
an organization is in doing as a team. If all workers share their knowledge, skill and talent in the joint effort, it will make the organization successful. Success is the ability of turning your dreams and ambitions into reality. It can only be achieved if there is healthy completion. There is a stiff competition nowadays in every field. But there is a flip side to every coin, so along with pros there are some cons are attached for Competition also. Sometimes people feel completely shattered due to failure and do not take it in a right spirit. They lose
their confidence forever Furthermore the excessive pressure from parents to win may cause stress. Moreover, children start using the wrong means. In the nutshell, competition is necessary as a motivator to do something. Competition is a selfcentered path for success. We can succeed in the long run only if we are the part of the success of the others, and not obstacles. It develops a sportsman spirit and induces in us a spirit to fight and win. In addition to it, we learn to focus on our goal, accept challenges digest disappointment. So it is desired to be right from the childhood.

Mr. Lube to Honour Those Who Served Free Oil Changes for BC Veterans on November 10
O
ctober 19, 2016 – Vancouver, BC – On November 10 2016, over 100 select Mr. Lube locations across Canada will be showing appreciation to Canadian Armed Forces veterans. In doing so, Mr. Lube is inviting veterans to visit any of the participating locations to receive a free warrantyapproved oil change. The program was first implemented in Kelowna in 2014 by local Mr. Lube Franchise Owner, Darren Pierce. It was so well received by the community that Mr. Lube decided to extend the program across BC in 2015. After great success, Mr. Lube has now extended the offer nationwide, with over 100 stores participating in this November. “The women and men who choose to serve Canada deserve our respect. They have earned it through years of service to the ideals and values that make up Canadian society,” explains David Ticknor, Mr. Lube Franchise Owner in Vancouver. “It’s the least we can do to show our appreciation and thank some of the most honourable and deserving individuals in the province,” he says. According to Archie Steacy, President of the British Columbia Veterans Commemorative Association, there are over 700,000 Canadian veterans, most of whom are under the age of 70. “Mr. Lube is not forgetting Canada’s veterans; recognizing and honouring their courage and self-sacrifice that made Canadians proud, strong, and free,” Steacy added. “On behalf of all Canadian veterans, I wish to extend our most heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Lube for its thoughtful recognition of our military service for Canada.” To receive a free warranty-approved oil change at Mr. Lube on November 10, veterans or current military individuals
must provide Canadian Service ID or have a Canadian veteran licence plate. Participating markets include: Barrie, BC, Calgary, Cambridge, GTA, Guelph, GVA, Hamilton, Kitchener, Lethbridge, London, Medicine Hat, Oshawa, SK, Sudbury, Waterloo, and Winnipeg. Importance of Health Insurance in your life
A
list is done on the cashless basis subject to policy conditions. Also, a treatment in non-network hospital may not offer cashless treatment and some insurers have a co-pay clause if you take a treatment in nonnetwork hospital.
health insurance is an important part of making a financial planning in the era of skyrocketing medical costs. Medical inflation has been aggravating at its full spree which makes it all the more important to buy a Health Insurance plan which could sponsor the hospitalization and medical treatment bills or expenses. It is essential to calculate following parameters to get a best health plan for you and your family. 1. Check for the Waiting Period Clause You must be feeling care free after taking insurance, but your health insurance comes with a waiting period clause for specific conditions. There is an initial period clause which says that any hospitalization claim will not be admissible in first 30 days of the policy commencement apart from accidental hospitalization. The pre-existing diseases or conditions are also not covered immediately after you purchase a policy. There is a waiting period ranging from 2 years to 4 years as per the plan conditions in the industry. Also, there are certain surgeries and treatments like hernia, cataract, joint replacement, etc. which can be treated after a specific waiting period of 1 or 2 years. 2. Check for Sub-limits There are certain capping or sub-limits in your health plan which says that the specific
4. Check for the Claim Process Different insurance companies have different claim procedures. Some settle or administer claims through Third Party Administrators (TPA’s) and some have their own in house claim settlement unit to foster quick and hassle free claim processing. Also, check the claim settlement ratio of the insurer you intend to buy a health plan from to have a clear picture on the number of claims settled by the insurer. It is important to have handy information on claims procedure to have a smooth and hassle free treatment in the times of hospitalization.
kind of expenses are paid by the insurance company upto a specific limit and beyond that the insured or customer has to bear them at his own. Check for the sub-limits in your health plan to avoid any last minute surprises at the time of claim.
3. Check for Network Hospitals The insurance companies offering health plans have certain empaneled network hospitals with whom they have a tie up. Any hospitalization or treatment taken in the mentioned or specified network hospital
5. Compare & Buy It is important to take a right buying decision which can be done by comparing the available health insurance plans online. You can compare the price, key features, policy benefits, value added benefits, eligibility, exclusions, etc. of multiple health insurance plans to make a right informed choice of your own without any interference of the agents. Do evaluate your need and make a right buying decision by checking the above stated parameters.

ndia is known for numerous festivals and one such festival that is celebrated all across the country is the Karwa Chauth festival. We will now discuss the same in more details. For those who do not know about the Karwa Chauth festival, it is a pooja that is done by married women for a long life of their husbands. The Karwa Chauth festival is more common in the northern parts of the country, especially in the states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh. The Karwa Chauth festival is usually celebrated in the month of October. This year in 2016 the tradition will be celebrated on 19th October. Procedure During Karwa Chauth Festival On this special day the women get up early in the morning and first of all they take a shower. After that they worship Lord Shiva, Parvati and Ganesh then they eat something. This must be done before the sun is up. Throughout the day the women don’t eat or drink even a drop of water. When the sun sets in the evening they see the moon and then they see their husbands and break the fast. They break the fast only when the husbands offer them something to eat with their own hands and give them water. For New Weds The Karwa Chauth festival is more special if the couple is newlywed. The celebration becomes as grand as the wedding itself. The mother in law of the girl sends sargi to the daughter in law. It consists of sari that is mostly red in colour, food items that include sweets, fruits, dry fruits, etc. The sargi also contain sringaar items like mahendi, traditional jewelleries, makeup items and bindis. Depending on the financial capacity of the family the girl gets gifts. The woman doing the Karwa Chauth should eat the sweets and the fruits sent in the sargi. If the mother in law is present then she can cook the food that the woman should eat before sunrise. The woman doing the Karwa Chauth fast also gets gifts from her own mother that is called the baya. It is similar to sargi in the contents.

Remedies for Dark Neck Having a dark neck is a quite common complaint
T
he reasons for this problem are lack of proper cleaning. Many of us forget or ignore to clean the neck while cleaning our face and this leads to accumulation of dirt that makes the skin on the neck dark. The other reason may be because there are several fine folds of skin around the neck that have a tendency to trap dust and sweat particles. Over a period of time, it also results into darkening of the skin. Whatever the reason may be, cleansing and then lightening the color of your skin is the best way. Milk is an excellent cleanser as well as a good toner. After cleansing, scrub your neck with a granular exfoliating scrub. Any scrub, which you get in medical shop, is enough or you can make your own scrub. Make a paste of olive oil and sugar crystals and use this to scrub your neck in gentle circular motions till all the sugar dissolves. This scrub will help to even out your skin tone. The other scrub is mix crud with crushed walnut with 2 drops of lemon juice. Apply in circular portion while using walnut scrub; be careful because it may hurt you. Massage it for 15 min and then rinse off with warm water. There are also some uncommon and unusual problems, one such type is pigmentation problem. In such case applying aloe Vera gel is the best. Application of lime juice to the neck will also help. Do this only at night, because you cannot go out in the sun with remnants of lime juice on your neck. This will make your neck darker, since skin has been exposed to a mix of lime juice and sunlight

Foods that lead to Cancer
There are some substances that play a major role in humans and other animals those results into cancer. Asbestos, tobacco, plutonium are just few examples of the same. However, many common, innocuous-seeming food items have also been linked to a wide range of cancers—like processed meats, for example. As per the World Health Organization (WHO) revealed their most recent study findings that have officially processed meats, such as hot dogs and bacon, to the “carcinogenic to humans” category. The study also shed light on a causal association between red meat and colorectal cancer. But jerky and burgers aren’t the only foods you need to watch out for. 1. Microwave Popcorn proves to contain carcinogens, content which carry their own special set of health risks. As for the packaging, conventional microwavepopcorn bags are lined up with perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), also called C8. There are different kinds of animal and human bodies exposure to POFA increases the risk of bladder, testicular cancers, pancreas and problem related to the kidney. On top of that, a condition called “popcorn lung” impedes breathing. You can still enjoy microwave popcorn. Just use organic kernels, put them in a brown paper bag and lay it flat in the microwave.
2. Alcohol: After tobacco use, alcohol abuse is the leading cause of cancer. Although it’s true that a moderate or low amount of alcohol can actually reduce heart-disease risk, overindulgence can result in heart failure and stroke. And cancer. In a metastudy, experts working for the World Health Organization concluded that excessive alcohol use is the main cause of mouth, oesophagus, liver, colon, mouth, rectum and female breast cancers. Stick with one glass of wine per day for women, two for men. Go with one of these best wines for weight loss.
3. Farmed Salmon: More than 60 percent of the salmon consumed in the USA is farm raised, and that’s bad. Why? Studies have shown that farmed salmon contain high levels of PCBs, mercury and dioxins — three cancer-causing chemicals. Hardly surprising when you consider that these fish are fattened up with feed that’s contaminated with chemicals, antibiotics and pesticides. And their pinkish hue? It’s dye. On top of all that, farmed salmon has much less of the stuff that makes eating wild salmon a healthy choice. They’re lower in the heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids that abound in wild specimens. Your move? Go wild when it comes to buying salmon.
4. Refined Sugar: Tumours use sugars to “feed” themselves and increase in size. This unsettling fact was discovered in 1931 by Otto Warburg, a Nobel laureate in medicine. Warburg figured out that in order to proliferate, cancer cells thrive on fructose-rich sweeteners such as high-fructose corn syrup. HFCS is metabolized by cancer cells more quickly and easily than other sweeteners; check for it on nutrition labels and avoid it.
5. Hydrogenated oils are used to preserve processed foods, to give them an appealing look for a long as possible. The ugly truth: Those oils can influence cell membranes’ structure and flexibility, which can lead to cancer. Vegetable oils also contain high levels of omega-6 fatty acids, which can cause heart disease and increase the risk of various malignancies, particularly skin cancer. The body needs some omega6s, but they should be balanced with omega-3s; wild salmon, mackerel and grass-fed meats are very good sources. When it comes to oil, your best bet is to use olive and coconut oils which are naturally, not chemically, extracted.
6. Breads: Eightysix breads, baked goods and starchy supermarket products have been identified as being laced with potassium bromate. The chemical, which is sometimes considered as brominated flour. The additive has been linked to nervous-system disorders and has been identified as a potential human carcinogen by a number of health organizations. For this reason, the European Union, U.K., Canada, and Brazil don’t allow potassium bromate to be used. In the States, the FDA has urged manufacturers and consumes less than 100 grams daily.
7. Processed Red Hot Meat: Sausages, bacon, hot dogs, bologna, pimento loaf, prosciutto— these processed meats which contain numerous chemicals and preservatives, including sodium nitrates, which looks appealing and fresh but are well-known carcinogens. Smoked meats are particularly dangerous, as the meat picks up tar from the smoking process. (You might remember tar as the deadly ingredient contained in cigarettes.). Study participants who ate 160 grams or more of processed meats increased their risk of early death as much as 44 percent within 12 years, as opposed to those who ate 20 grams or less. (Just one of the reasons why processed meats are one of the Most Dangerous Foods in the World.) And when it comes to conventionally prepared red meat, for every 100 gram portion of the stuff eaten daily, the risk of colorectal cancer could increase by 17%, according to the WHO researchers. To enjoy meat safely, go for grass-fed, organic and hormone-free varieties
8. Canned tomatoes: The lining of almost all canned foods are made of chemical named biphenyl-A, or BPA. Consuming canned tomatoes increases the risk of facing problem such as prostate cancer, breast cancer, infertility, early puberty, metabolic disorders and type2 diabetes. Tomatoes are exceptionally dangerous to consume because of acidity which causes BPA to leach from the lining of the can into the fruit. You’re better off using fresh tomatoes when you cook a meal or, if you prepare them ahead of time, storing them in glass jars.

novel NOVEMBER 2016
A Girl in a Whirl Contd. from previous issue (Part 5) “Yes, it is.”, he replied. I wrote the name of a medicine on a paper slip. I gave the slip with some money to the waiter and asked him to bring the medicine. I also asked him to take the last night’s stale food back and bring four sandwiches with two cups of tea. When he left, I splashed some water on Sam’s face. He felt conscious of his surroundings. He tried to get up but couldn’t. I helped him to get up and go to the washroom. Sam also managed himself and locked the washroom door. I had lost all sympathy for Sam. My love-life had already been ruined even before blooming. Meanwhile, the waiter brought breakfast and medicine. I asked him to keep the change. I also gave him some tip. Then I ate two sandwiches with a cup of tea. Sam was still in the washroom. I made another cup of tea for myself and ate another sandwich. I regained some energy after having two cups of tea and the sandwiches. I lay on the bed. I didn’t want to think anything. I heard the washroom door open. I
kept pretending to be asleep. I wanted to see Sam’s reaction. Sam made tea for himself and ate the sandwich. There was enough hot water in the kettle. “Sam, take one white and one red tablet with warm water and relax for three to four hours.”, I said without moving from the bed. “I’m sorry, Sonia!”, Sam apologized. I didn’t respond “Sonia, are you very angry?”, said Sam . “I want to rest for a while. You relax for a while and let me too.”, my tone was a bit rude because I really wanted to sleep for a while. Sam didn’t bother me after that. When I woke up, Sam wasn’t in the room. I went to the washroom. “What kind of match had my parents found for me? Shouldn’t it be necessary to know each other before marriage? I cannot live with a man like Sam. He is no match for me at all. If the beginning of my married life were so horrible, how nightmarish my rest of life would be? No-no, this tie should break here for sure, but how? I’ll be straightforward with Sam.”, I murmured to myself. “What will my relatives think? But I cannot spoil my life caring for them what they say. Yes, my mom and dad will definitely listen and agree with
me. But my dad had spent so much money on my marriage, what about that? However, money cannot be more important than my life and my future? Final! My marriage is done with.”, I continued talking to myself pondering over both sides of my situation. “What will people say? What will my siblings’ future be? Everything is getting so expensive here day-byday. How many hopes my parents and siblings have pinned on me! All of them can move to Canada if I go there with Sam. It’s not easy to go to Canada. Many have paid hundreds of thousands rupees to agents to go to Canada legally or illegally and are badly stuck. Canada government is making the immigration laws stricter day-by-day. I will have to handle this situation tactfully.”, I was engrossed in my self-contradictory thoughts. Just then, I heard a click at my room door. I came out of the washroom. Sam had come back. I lay down on the bed and without asking Sam anything. I closed my eyes. I felt Sam lying on the bed beside me. I felt him coming closer to me by-and-by. I felt his breath on my face. As he touched my face with his hand, I flung away his hand angrily.

health NOVEMBER 2016
So called Healthy Foods we eat daily, are not so healthy…..
How will be our health tomorrow depend on what we eat today Contd from Previous edition We should use Celtic sea salt or Himalayan salt. There are more than 10 significant health benefits of Celtic sea salt and Himalayan salt and I recommend that you start using either in your cooking. Himalayan salt has 93 mineral compounds. Himalayan salt is also called Pakistani Salt or Kaala Namak Artificial Sweeteners: Being artificial, you should not use these fake sweeteners. Unfortunately, many doctors recommend them because they are supposedly safe for diabetics because they are low on the glycemic index or glycemic load. We cannot blame a phycisian. This is what the mfrs. tell them. Ironically, new research has shown that artificial sweeteners causes a disturbance in gut flora and can actually cause diabetes! Moreover these artificial sugar substitutes have been clinically linked to bladder cancer, brain tumors, breast cancer, hypertension, weight gain/obesity etc. Instead use stevia. Stevia is prepared from the leaves of a plant which is 60 times more sweeter than sugarcane and has ZERO CALORIES. The brand Truvia is locally available and taste like sugar. Conventional Milk/ Fresh Milk: The feed given to live stock is genetically modified . And hormones –oxytocin to nameare administered to boost milk

production. This is the reason why some experts speak loud and clear that we should not drink milk. Problem is with the contamination of feed to the animal. The toxins in the feed get transferred to people when they drink milk or eat, which have been linked to many of the diseases viz. Heart attack, HTN, Diabetes and Obesity Moreover, similar to fruit juice, when raw milk is pasteurized, it also loses its
nutritional content and makes it pretty much nutrition-deficient. Because the enzyme lactase is destroyed in the heating process, then people cannot properly digest the milk sugar, lactose. As per National Institute of Health,, “Approximately 65 percent of the human population has a reduced ability to digest lactose after infancy.” The milk we buy today from mega stores, is pasturized. By far, raw milk is healthier than pasturized. Therefore cheese or yogurt made out of
this in local health food stores is better than milk, if prepared from raw milk. Unknowingly, daily we are buying health killing slow poison one after another, fall sick and be in the hospital or at a physician’s doorstep. We need to eat non GMO food to stay healthy. May be you have to pay a little more attention to your food intake. But beware of fake claims made by mfrs. Readymade Cereal not a good choice

oh Samui (Samui Island) is a cosmopolitan melting pot, attracting budget travellers staying for a month or two in simple beachside bungalows, to the wealthiest holidaymakers dropping in for a weekend at one of the many luxury resort or villa on the many white sand beaches of Koh Samui. From the hustle and bustle of Chaweng Beach to the lively yet relaxed atmosphere of Lamai Beach to the timeless feel of Bophut’s Fisherman’s Village to the tropical beach paradise of Maenam, Koh Samui is unique among Thailand’s islands in maintaining a broad appeal for everyone. This helps to give the distinctive relaxed atmosphere that sets it apart. Nature lovers can visit Ang Thong Marine National Park on a day trip to enjoy a genuine ‘get away from it all’ feel in the splendid tropical islands it hosts. Ang Thong National Marine Park is a pristine archipelago of 42 islands in the Gulf of Thailand with towering limestone mountains, thick jungle, white-sand beaches, fertile mangroves, waterfalls and hidden coves and lakes to explore. Within sight of Koh Samui, Ang Thong park is a protected area of more than 100sqkm of land and sea, and home to a rich variety of exotic wildlife and sea creatures. On the northern coast of Koh Samui is the famous Big Buddha shrine. Probably Samui’s most well known landmark, the 12 metre high golden Buddha can be seen from several kilometres away. Inside the surrounding temple are many different shrines and other smaller ornate Buddhas. There is also a small market selling a wide range of lucky charms and other souvenirs, alongside numerous food stalls.
Art often imitates Nature, but less common is Nature imitating Art, especially the art of the ribald. Although Samui has several waterfalls, the two are probably the most picturesque Na Muang waterfalls. The name Na Muang refers to the massive purple rocks at the waterfalls. Rocks and tree roots form a natural staircase that leads to the base of Na Muang 1. A large natural pool sits under the waterfall. A 10-minute walk further up the mountain leads to Samui’s most beautiful waterfall, Na Muang 2. Both the aquarium and the zoo have many of Thailand’s tropical favourites above and below the water. Lots of coral fish, huge catfish and several sharks including Leopard and Black Tips Samui’s local zoo adjacent to the aquarium, house some south-eastern Asian tigers, parrots, hornbills, sea hawks, eagles or even otters who will perform for you. Ladyboy Cabarets might not be everyone’s cup of tea but for fans, Chaweng Beach has plenty to choose from! Thailand’s katoeys or the ‘third sex’ are world famous, partly because there are so many of them and also because they are so feminine. Koh Samui’s repertoire of things to do and see is varied and interesting: the island hosts a great deal of splendid natural and man-made attractions from mummified monks to the famous grandma and grandpa rocks (Hin Ta & Hin Yai) to attractive waterfalls and more, there’s nothing to stop you having a blast on Samui Island. For those interested in religious imagery and architecture the Big Buddha will impress especially at sunset.

Film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, that features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, ran into trouble after Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) said it won’t allow release of any movie in India that featured Pakistani artistes+ . It is due for release on October 28, ahead of Diwali. Film & Television Producers Guild of India president Mukesh Bhatt also attended the meeting, which was held at Fadnavis’s residence. After the meeting, Mukesh Bhatt said that they had a constructive talk with the Maharashtra chief minister and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ will release as per the schedule. “I assured Fadnavis that the Producer’s Guild has decided that it will not work with Pakistani artistes in the future,” Mukesh Bhatt told reporters after the meeting. “Karan Johar said that he will run a special slate honouring the martyrs before the start of the movie. It’s a tribute from us to our soldiers,” Bhatt added. Bhatt said that Producer’s Guild will also contribute to the Army Welfare Fund. “We owe this to the Army,” he said.

CFSEU-BC Celebrated
D
ussehra is an important Hindu festival which is celebrated in a variety of ways all over the world. On Oct 11, 2016, Surrey’s Laxmi Narayan Mandir hosted this event which was attended by thousands. Corporal Jag Khosa of The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit - BC (CFSEU-BC) and volunteers from S.A.V.E (Students Against Violence Everywhere) participated in this event to raise awareness on gangs. CFSEUBC is British Columbia’s integrated anti-gang police agency. It is the largest integrated police program in Canada, made up of members from every police department in B.C. For more information on CFSEU-BC’s gang awareness campaign, visit www.endganglife.ca Since Dussehra symbolizes the conquest of good over evil, this day served as a perfect reminder for us all to fight the evil within and stay away from leading a negative lifestyle. As a member of CFSEU-BC’s Gang Intervention team, I would like to thank the organizers for putting together such a wonderful and positive event.

How to dress as per your personality
W
hen you are shopping for clothes make sure that you are conscious of how the colors and cuts are going to look on you. A shirt might be cute on the hanger but if it has a thick fabric it may make your waist look wider than it is. Buy the right sizes: You may find a pair of jeans that are only $20, but if they don’t fit right, you’ll never wear them. Don’t waste money on buying something just because it’s cheap. Only buy clothes that are not too long, loose, short, small or big for you. That means always try on clothes before you buy it. Get clothes tailored at the dry cleaners: Fit is so crucial for dressing well. A jacket or a pair of jeans can be the best investment, but if the item is too wide or drags on the floor, it won’t be. Going to a tailor to get those things to fit just right will make you look more fashionable than having the newest “it” fashion item. Buy fun colors: Black and neutrals don’t draw attention while bright colors and
pales do. If you feel like your legs are thicker than you want, don’t buy bright red jeans, no matter how fabulous they are. If you love how tiny your arms look, invest in a bright blue, long sleeve top. Remember: The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good on you Look to magazines like Vogue, Elle, In Style, etc. These will debut what is the color scheme of that season. Try incorporating that color in a little to stay fashion forward. Don’t buy a yellow dress, for example, because you can only wear that so much. Instead try to buy yellow ballet flats or a yellow belt that you can wear way more often. Buy “staple” items: 50% of your closet should be solid colored, staple pieces. A pair of good jeans will go a long way, a watch can last forever, and a black dress is an instant classic. Investing on these items will pay off in the long run. While a red dress is fun and festive, you are unlikely to wear it a lot. So instead of looking at the price tag at face value think of it like this: cost/times worn. A dress that you wear 2 times might only cost $50, but a pair of $150 jeans that you wear once a week for three years will actually cost you less in the long run. Staples include things like a little black dress, good fitting jeans, nude heels, a beige coat, black blazer, solid white tees, ballet flats, brown boots, a tailored pencil skirt, etc. Buy fun, trendy pieces: These are things like red jeans; use them to add some spark to your wardrobe. If you find that the color and the fit of the jeans work for you, buy them. Having trendy pieces will make a bold fashion statement and let you have fun with fashion. But then again, trends are just that. Try buying cheaper trendy pieces like cool necklaces, a funky shirt, etc. that you won’t feel bad for having spent money on when it goes out of fashion. Find the right accessories: For a bolder look, add chunky gold jewellery. For a peppier look, add a cute headband and some pearl earrings. Put on your shoes: Add heels for some height, boots for a more casual look, and ballet flats for a feminine look. Do your hair and make-up every day: The first thing someone notices about you is your face and hair. If you take care of these things, and put effort into getting ready in the morning, the most casual outfit will look completely chic. Once again, you want to work on the what-flatters-you-best theory. So skip the neon pink eye shadows you saw in Vogue this month and switch to a light purple that brings the color out of your green eyes.
