3. Relying Solely on Employer Coverage: Employer-provided life insurance is a valuable benefit, but it’s often insufficient to meet your family’s needs. Relying solely on this coverage can leave your loved ones financially vulnerable.
6. Overlooking Beneficiary Designations: Naming beneficiaries is crucial to your life insurance policy. Failing to keep this information current can lead to complications during the claims process.
Yet, many people need help with purchasing and managing their life insurance policies. In this article, we will explore eight of these mistakes and guide how to avoid them to motivate members of ethnic communities to invest in this essential protection.
1. Procrastination: One of the most common mistakes is delaying the purchase of life insurance. Many individuals
think they have plenty of time to secure coverage, but unexpected events can happen at any age. The sooner you invest in life insurance, the more affordable and comprehensive your coverage can be.
2. Underestimating Coverage Needs: Failing to assess your family’s financial needs accurately can lead to insufficient coverage. Consider mortgage payments, education expenses,
4. Neglecting Regular Policy Reviews: Life circumstances change over time—marriage, children’s birth, career advancements, and more. Failing to review and update your policy regularly can result in coverage gaps.
5. Not Considering Term vs. Whole Life: Different life insurance policies serve different purposes. It’s essential to understand the distinctions between term and whole life insurance and choose the one that aligns with your specific goals.

Bhurji got involved in walking and jogging after a health scare. “I was always active, but it took a serious personal illness, several operations, and too many blood transfusions to count, to remind me that nothing is more important than to stay healthy and active,” Bhurji says. “Walking and jogging became part of my daily rehabilitation, and as
part of that recovery I focused on creating a community run for every age and ability. Building a healthier City of Surrey is the idea behind this event.”

Recently there’s been a lot of conversations about multi-source or blended cooking oil and fats in general, as we are becoming more and more conscious about our lifestyle and food, especially our fat intake. Contrary to the popular notion of just focusing on reducing the amount of fat in our diet, we also need to remember that fat is a macronutrient that is essential for the proper functioning of our body. Instead of just focusing on reducing fat, the conversation we should be having is about how to increase the quality of fats in our food. One lesser known and great example of this is including Blended oils in your diet.
Essentially blended oils give you all the goodness of two or more oils in one! Apart from being a great source of fatty acids, they have multiple other benefits which are hard to ob-
tain by using single seed oils, like:
Healthier fats for maintaining heart health: Numerous studies have been carried out to identify the type of fat that correlates with heart disease. We now know that excess intake of saturated fat increases bad cholesterol and causes blood pressure. We all have heard about trans fats and their ill effects. In blended oils, the ratio
of poly and monounsaturated fatty acids is adjusted to ensure better heart health.
Higher smoke point for versatile cooking: Indian cooking requires high temperatures at various durations depending upon the dishes. Blended oils are known to have high smoke points, ensuring not just safety but even keeping the nutritional value of oil intact.
Maintaining healthy cholesterol levels: The ratio of fatty acids in blended oils helps reduce the bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase the good cholesterol (HDL), which in turn keeps you and your heart healthy!
Improved anti-inflammatory properties: Blended oils can increase the anti-inflammatory properties of the final product, by adding to the overall potency of the final product, studies have shown successful results with blends like rice bran oil and safflower oil.
At the end of the day, we need to pick an oil that best suits our health requirements and taste buds but thankfully now we have a larger variety of blended oils to choose from, everyone gets to choose the oil that works best for their family’s needs.
By: Nidhi Mohan KamalSarees are no longer merely traditional Indian clothing. Experimenting with the saree to get the perfect and unique look has given rise to new quirky trends and revived the appearance of this classic Indian garment. Let’s have a look at some interesting and fun saree ideas.
Belt saris are popular these days. Simply put on your saree as usual and add a belt that cinches around your waist at your pallu. A Kamar bandh could be worn instead of the belt for a more traditional look.
Dhoti style
This is another saree design that is gaining popularity due to its distinct appearance. It differs from a traditional saree in that the bottom has a dhoti-style weaving, and a legging must be worn inside instead of a petticoat.
Mermaid-inspired
A lovely drapery technique that spreads out the lower half of the pleats to resemble a mermaid’s tail. This saree appears to need a lot of effort, yet all it requires are a few more tucks and pleats.
The saree with pants
In addition to its flashy appearance,
a saree with a pant design is also incredibly comfortable. It is great if you want to stand out throughout the wedding season!
Pallu in front
In this saree style, the pallu is worn back to front rather than front to back. This pallu pattern stands out without compromising the saree’s individuality.
Gown style, pre-stitched
If you want to pull off this style effectively, you must have a killer blouse. You can experiment with your blouse as much as you want with the pre-stitched gown design. Consider embellishments such as sequins, a net, a jacket-style bodice or a peplum-style bodice.
Placing a brooch on a saree
If you want to present your best face in terms of styling, go a slightly different route. Get a trendy brooch and pin it to your pallu for a fashionable look.

By: IANSThanksgiving Day is approaching soon and this year, we have made a list of the best things to do on Thanksgiving with friends, family or anyone else to ensure that Turkey Day this year is a memorable one.
Halloween has been around for more than a thousand years. Originally a religious observance, it became increasingly secular over the centuries until its religious trappings all but disappeared. Today Halloween is considered a holiday for dress-up and fun, especially for children.
Halloween’s origins can be traced back to the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain, which was held on November 1 in contemporary calendars. It was believed that on that day, the souls of the dead returned to their homes, so people dressed in costumes and lit bonfires to ward off spirits. In this way, popular Halloween tropes such as witches, ghosts, and goblins became associated with the holiday.
In the 7th century CE, Pope Boniface IV created All Saints Day, originally celebrated on May 13. A century later, Pope Gregory III moved the holiday to November 1, likely as a Christian substitute for the pagan festival of Samhain. The day before the saintly celebration became known as All Hallows
Eve, or Halloween.
Though the holiday began in Celtic regions of Ireland, the United Kingdom, and France, it quickly spread to other parts of the world. The first American colonists in New England were forbidden to celebrate it for religious reasons, though it enjoyed some popularity in the Southern colonies. By the 1800s, fall festivals marking the seasonal harvest incorporated Halloween elements, and Irish immigrants escaping the
devastating Potato Famine brought with them many Halloween traditions that remain today.
The custom of trick-or-treating, in which children dress up in costume and solicit treats from neighbors, became popular in the United States in the early 20th century as Irish and Scottish communities revived the Old World custom of “guising,” in which a person would dress in costume and
tell a joke, recite a poem, or perform some other trick in exchange for a piece of fruit or other treat. By 1950, trickor-treating for candy had become one of Halloween’s most popular activities. Today, Halloween is one of the biggest holidays for candy sales in the United States, estimated to be more than $3 billion, according to the National Retail Federation.
This year, start a new tradition by getting the gang involved in a Thanksgiving game, or test everyone’s holiday knowledge with a round of Thanksgiving trivia. Here are other things you can do with your loved ones:
Hold a Turkey Day scavenger hunt
Swing by the dollar store or use items from around the house to plan a Thanksgiving scavenger hunt. It’ll get the crowd up and moving after
the big meal, giving everyone a chance to stretch their legs before settling in for a movie marathon.
Sing karaoke
If you’ve never heard your sister-in-law take on Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock-n-Roll, then now is the time. Whether you borrow, rent or buy a karaoke machine, make belting out some tunes on Thanksgiving a new family tradition.
Make matching t-shirts Even if you aren’t a match-
ing t-shirts kind of person, making Thanksgiving t-shirts as part of your Turkey Day celebration is a fun activity that’ll get everyone involved. Take plenty of pictures of everyone wearing them, then post on Instagram. The best part? Guests go home with a keepsake.
Ugly sweater contest
Why wait until Christmas to challenge the group’s ugly-sweater-wearing skills?
Let friends and family know ahead of time to come to
Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving decked out in the best of the worst they can find. Offer fun prizes for the winners.
Host a Petsgiving
Don’t just invite friends and family over. Make it a Petsgiving by asking your loved ones to bring their furry family members too. Have everyone bring a pet-friendly dish to share, so all the pups and cats can feast along with their loved ones.

It is a plant that has been used for centuries as medicine and that feeds the body from the inside out. It has a lot of nutrients, aids in digestion, and even fortifies the immune system. Aloe vera can also be used topically, which means that one can use its gel to improve their skin, particularly their face and hair.
Helps soothe sunburn
Aloe Vera gel is anti-inflammatory and has cooling effects. As a result, it is one of the most organic treatments for burned or sunburned skin. Applying this gel helps the skin retain moisture and creates a protective layer for the skin. It is abundant in minerals and antioxidants, both of which speed up the healing process. So you may now use aloe vera to maintain the health of your summer skin.
Boosts healing of wounds
Aloe Vera is now well acknowledged to be quite helpful for burns, cuts, and other wounds. This is due to the fact that aloe vera speeds up and shortens the healing process for wounds. This is particularly true for burns of the first and second degrees. It works well for treating skin burns. Additionally, it aids in accelerating skin cell proliferation by up to eight times. Aloe Vera is also recognized for penetrating the epidermis, or the skin’s outer layer, faster than water.
fights skin-ageing
The gel of aloe vera is rich in beta-carotene and vitamins C and E. As a result, it contains anti-aging qualities. Additionally, it has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial qualities. Additionally, it aids in removing age spots and wrinkles from the skin. It also helps to improve skin elasticity and the body’s generation of collagen.
Reduces infection and acne
Aloe Vera offers relief to people who have acne. It aids in gentle washing and treats pimples with antibacterial characteristics without harming the skin. It is an antiseptic that offers bacterial protection. Gibberellins and polysaccharides are found in aloe vera. These promote the development of new cells while also reducing inflammation and redness. Additionally, it functions as an astringent, shrinking pores and clearing them of extra sebum, bacteria, and dirt.
Helps to moisturize the skin
Aloe Vera gel, when used as a moisturizing gel, does not leave a greasy film on the face or the skin, in contrast to typical, store-bought moisturizers. In actuality, it has the exact opposite effect-it opens up the pores and softens the skin.
It is a therapy that can be applied after shaving. This is due to the fact that Aloe Vera gel heals minor cuts and nicks as well as razor burns and keeps the skin nourished. Dry skin is also helped by it.
By: Olivia SarkarA “miracle,” or wonder plant, aloe vera is a modest houseplant that frequently hides in plain sight.
(PSA) Test, sometimes combined with a digital rectal exam (DRE) to feel the prostate for abnormalities.
Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TsH): Thyroid hormones control the metabolism and contribute to our overall energy levels, nerve functions, and much more. Any irregularities with the thyroid can lead to various health problems and cause weight gain, lethargy, exhaustion, or fatigue. TSH test is done to find out how well the thyroid is working. High and low TSH can affect fertility in men.
Most people underestimate the significance of regular examinations. Our hectic and unpredictable lifestyle frequently prevents us from seeking routine preventive care.
People usually only come when they are seriously ill. In fact, health surveys show that men are less likely than women to visit doctors. Men over the age of 50 should have a yearly physical examination, while those under the age of 50 should have one every three to five years. Even if you feel healthy, it is critical to have regular check-ups because they help to diagnose disease early and reduce the risk of complications.
5 important health check-ups for men: The doctor will determine which tests to perform and how frequently they should be performed based on the individual’s health conditions. The following tests are recommended for the general population.
Blood sugar: Risk factors for developing high blood sugar levels include family history of diabetes, obesity. The risk of getting diabetes increases as you grow older. Regular screening for diabetes using fasting, post prandial and HbA1C is recommended for individuals above 40
years.
lipid profile: All adults over the age of 35 should get their cholesterol checked every 5 years. You might need to begin screening as early as 20 years of age if you have certain risk factors such as diabetes, smoking, a body mass index above 30, family history of stroke, or first-degree relatives who have had deranged cholesterol levels.
Blood pressure: Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by your blood on the walls of blood vessels. A high BP puts you at risk of various health conditions like heart disease, kidney disease, and stroke. It is very easy to check your BP at home with the help of automated apparatus. A normal blood pressure level is less than 120/80 mmHg. As the dietary modifications happening due to cultural changes in the society, the onset of hypertension is seen in young adults. Hence adults above age of 18 should have their BP checked at least once. People with comorbidities like diabetes, heart disease or kidney problems should have their blood pressure checked more often.
Prostate-specific Antigen (PsA) Test: About 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate
cancer during his lifetime. It is one of the top ten leading cancers for men in India. Prostate cancer screening can help identify cancer early on, when treatment is most effective. It is done with a simple, widely available blood test called Prostate-Specific Antigen
Elderly men over the age of 50, as well as individuals with risk factors for heart disease, should have a yearly echocardiogram and treadmill test to screen for heart disease. Diabetic patients should have a yearly kidney disease screening with a Creatinine and urine test. Individuals who exhibit high-risk behaviour should be screened for sexually transmitted diseases.
By: IANsMost ear infections don’t cause longterm complications. Ear infections that happen again and again can lead to serious complications:
4Impaired hearing: Mild hearing loss that comes and goes is fairly common with an ear infection, but it usually gets better after the infection clears. Ear infections that happen again and again, or fluid in the middle ear, may lead to more-significant hearing loss. If there is some permanent damage to the eardrum or other middle ear structures, permanent hearing loss may occur.
4speech or developmental delays: If hearing is temporarily or permanently impaired in infants and toddlers, they may experience delays in speech, social and developmental skills.
4spread of infection: Untreated infections or infections that don’t respond well to treatment can spread to nearby tissues. Infection of the mastoid, the bony protrusion behind the ear, is called mastoiditis. This infection can result in damage to the bone and the formation of pus-filled cysts. Rarely, serious middle ear infections spread to other tissues in the skull, including the brain or the membranes surrounding the brain (meningitis).
4Tearing of the eardrum: Most eardrum tears heal within 72 hours. In some cases, surgical repair is needed.
The following tips may reduce the risk of developing ear infections:
4Prevent common colds and other illnesses. Teach your children to wash their hands frequently and thoroughly and to not share eating and drinking utensils. Teach your children to cough or sneeze into their elbow. If possible, limit the time your child spends in group child care. A child care setting with fewer children may help. Try to keep your child home from
child care or school when ill.
4Avoid secondhand smoke. Make sure that no one smokes in your home. Away from home, stay in smoke-free environments.
4Breast-feed your baby. If possible, breast-feed your baby for at least six months. Breast milk contains antibodies that may offer protection from ear infections.
4If you bottle-feed, hold your baby in an upright position. Avoid propping a bottle in your baby’s mouth while he or she is lying down. Don’t put bottles in the crib with your baby.
4Talk to your doctor about vaccinations. Ask your doctor about what vaccinations are appropriate for your child. Seasonal flu shots, pneumococcal and other bacterial vaccines may help prevent ear infections.
Your doctor can usually diagnose an ear infection or another condition based on the symptoms you describe and an exam. The doctor will likely use a lighted instrument (an otoscope) to look at the ears, throat and nasal passage. He or she will also likely listen to your child breathe with a stethoscope.
An instrument called a pneu matic otoscope is often the only specialized tool a doctor needs to diagnose an ear infection. This instrument enables the doctor to look in the ear and judge whether there is fluid be hind the eardrum. With the pneu matic otoscope, the doctor gently puffs air against the eardrum. Normally, this puff of air would cause the eardrum to move. If the middle ear is filled with fluid,
doctor will observe little to no movement of the eardrum.
Your doctor may perform other tests if there is any doubt about a diagnosis, if the condition hasn’t responded to previous treatments, or if there are other long-term or serious problems.

one frequently overlooked consequence is the potential for eye irritation due to wildfire smoke. This article sheds light on the relationship between wildfire smoke and eye discomfort, along with valuable tips to manage and alleviate these symptoms.
wildfire smoke and eye irritation
Wildfire smoke is a complex mixture of particles, gases, and pollutants that are harmful to the human body. They can also easily travel great distances, impacting regions far from the actual fire site. The tiny particles present in the smoke can irritate the eyes and exacerbate pre existing eye conditions such as dry eyes, conjunctivitis, and allergies. The smoke’s irritants can lead to symptoms like redness, itching, burning, excessive tearing, and a gritty sensation in the eyes.
Tips to manage wildfire smoke-related eye irritation
Limit Outdoor Activities: If there’s active wildfire smoke in your area, reduce outdoor exposure, especially during peak smoky periods, to minimize contact with irritants.
use protective eyewear: Wear wraparound sunglasses or goggles to shield your eyes from smoke particles and prevent irritation.
Keep indoor air clean: Use air purifiers with HEPA filters to reduce indoor air pollution. Keep windows and doors closed to prevent smoke from entering your living spaces.
stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your body and eyes well-hydrated. This can help alleviate dryness and irritation.
use lubricating eye drops: Over-the-counter lubricating eye drops can provide temporary relief by adding moisture to the eyes and washing away irritants.
Cold compress: Applying a cold compress or washcloth to closed eyes can help reduce inflammation and soothe discomfort.
Consult an eye specialist: If your symptoms persist or worsen, seek professional medical advice from an eye doctor. They can provide targeted treatment options and address any underlying issues.
stay informed: Keep updated on air quality levels in your area through reliable sources. Authorities often issue advisories when smoke poses health risks.
As wildfires continue to plague various parts of the province their effects extend beyond just air quality concerns.

Supermodel Heidi
Klum has become more laid-back about her appearance in recent years.
The 50-year-old star was often worried about her appearance at the height of her modelling career, but Heidi has adopted a different attitude since she met her husband, Tom Kaulitz, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“I think he’s super handsome, and right now he’s like, ‘Oh, I’m a little bit pudgy.’ I actually love when he’s a little bit pudgy, to be honest with you. I’m 50. I don’t want him to be 34 and uber-shredded. I don’t want someone who worries about their muscles all day long. To me it’s manly when there is some … extra,” Klum told StyleWatch.
She has also become more relaxed about her own figure since they first met.
She shared: “When he met me, he said, ‘You can always also eat a little bit more.’ And I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And I guess looking back, I was much thinner than I am today.”
“When you’re a model ... I guess I was exercising harder. I was running around outside, jogging and all of this stuff. Over the last few years, and especially since I’ve met him, I’ve just been more relaxed.”
Heidi became a global star in 1998, when she landed the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. The model likened appearing on the cover of the magazine to winning the lottery.
She said: “Getting that phone call telling me that I was on the cover, it was like when someone wins $20 million in the lottery. Because at that time, without social media, I think the numbers were, like, 55 million readers or something. I could really feel that reach too.”
“I would go into a restaurant, and people all of a sudden would be like, ‘That’s that girl from Sports Illustrated.’ It just was such a big bouncing
board for me to really make me go to the next step in my career.”
By: IANSActress Emma Watson is heading back to school to chase a degree from Oxford. The 33-year-old actress who played Hermione Granger in all eight of the blockbuster Harry Potter films, has reportedly signed up for a part-time Master’s degree at Oxford University.
But fellow students might not be able to get very close to the star as she will reportedly be bringing a heavy security presence with her, reports Mirror.co.uk.
Emma, who already graduated from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in English literature in May 2014, will be heading to the world famous university to attend a handful of lectures.
However, it is suggested she will complete most of her degree virtually - while security guards will protect her whenever she does need to go to campus. The Sun reports that the actress is keen to keep herself safe while studying. A source told the publication: “The course is for older adults and can be done on a part-time basis, which is perfect for Emma’s schedule. She only has to be on site for four or five days a year because she can do the rest of the course online from home.”

“Because she’s a famous actress, she’ll have a security team looking after her whenever she has classes to go to. There have been a few incidents recently and she is taking every precaution necessary to ensure her safety.”
As per Mirror.co.uk, the report of Emma’s new education
plans comes after a man was arrested earlier this month after trying to break into her dressing room at a fashion show in New York. The man in question has so far denied criminal trespass and disorderly conduct and his case is due to be heard in a USA court next month. By:

Canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome correlates with the aging of the dog’s brain, which causes them to eventually lose their sharp awareness of their surroundings, learning capabilities, responsiveness and even memory.
The symptoms will first appear to be of a mild state; however, they will progress with time and unfortunately worsen and become more severe. This process is known as ‘Cognitive Decline’.
The signs of this condition are anxiety, restlessness, not wishing to play anymore, slow to learn new training, disorientation, decreased grooming, confusion, forgetting previous
training, no control over urinating or defecating, sleep patterns altered, decreased appetite, excessive licking, frustration and barking. According to statistics, it is seen that at least one out of every three dogs that are over the age of ten will display at least one sign of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome. If you feel that your dog may be showing any of these signs, then your veterinarian can perform a full physical examination. He or she will also need a full history of when the symptom(s) initially presented themselves, in order to conduct a proper diagnosis of this condition. Other diagnostic measures may also be performed in order to rule out any other underlying causes for such exhibiting signs.
Canines that are diagnosed with Dog Dementia will then begin a long-term treatment of supportive care for this condition. Such care will consist of improving your dog’s living environment and health in order to maintain an ideal condition for improvement. This will allow the Cognitive Decline to be de-
layed and not progress as quickly otherwise. Changes in exercise routine, playing time and also training, or needing to train again, will be introduced as well. Other adjustments that can be made to facilitate a dog with this condition is to provide night lights for your canine companion to navigate throughout the house easier in the dark. Place training pads near your dog so that there is a place for him or her to use the washroom in case of an emergency, where they cannot control their urination or bowel movement. Certain medications or behavioral treatments may also be advised by your veterinarian based on the individual case of your pet.
Diet is also a key component to managing a better lifestyle. Certain supplements can also be added to the diet regiment in order to help with your dog’s cognitive function. Such as:
Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Selenium, Beta Carotene, Carotenoids, Flavonoids, Omega-3 and Carnitine. Follow-up appointments with your veterinarian may be needed regularly.
By: Dr. Sifti BhullarIn this month’s article, we will be discussing a common condition found in canines, known as “Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome”. In simple terms, one can refer to this condition as Dog Dementia as well. Yes, this is similar to the condition that we can see in humans, as they also age with time.
If you feel that your dog may be showing any of these signs, then your veterinarian can perform a full physical examination.
Veteran star Nana Patekar, who will be seen in the upcoming film ‘The Vaccine War’, says the biggest advantage of being an actor is that we have a way of taking out our frustration with the help of a camera.
In a conversation with media personnels in New Delhi, Nana was seen talking about advantages of being an actor.
He said: “The biggest advantage of being an actor is that we have a way of taking out our frustration with the help of a camera. If I didn’t have this medium, I would have gone mad. Anyway, I am called mad. This is such a big medium for us.”
Nana was then asked about working in south films, as they are currently creating waves.
“Kaala. I had done that in Hindi then dubbed it in Tamil. They wanted 2-3 lines and I said like let me just dub more lines and that’s how we did the entire film. The thing is you can dub but the language isn’t yours so the expression wouldn’t come. That’s why I don’t do it,” he added.
Directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, ‘The Vaccine War’ is touted as India’s first bio-science cinematic endeavour. It talks about the scientists pivotal in developing the indigenous BBV152 vaccine, commonly known as Covaxin.
The film also stars Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen and Sapthami Gowda. The film was released on September 28 in 10 different languages. By: IANS
Shubh rose to prominence with his 2021 track, ‘We Rollin’, which helped him gain a following in the Punjabi diaspora across Canada, the UK, the US, and New Zealand. Then his single, ‘Baller’, also made it to the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, ranked No. 68.
The rapper started in 2021 with the single ‘Don’t Look’ that he co-produced with Punjabi pop artist Irman Thiara. Later, he released his breakthrough single, ‘We Rollin’, which is till date his most streamed song. Next to follow were ‘Elevated’ and ‘Offshore’. Earlier this year, Shubh released his debut album ‘Still Rollin’, which ranked No. 16 on the Billboard Canadian charts.
By: IANSVirat Kohli has unfollowed him and consumer electronics brand boAT has withdrawn its sponsorship of his India tour, which was to begin on Saturday, September 23, with a performance on Cordelia Cruises, Mumbai. So, who is Shubh?
The Punjab-born, Brampton, Canada-based 26-yearold rapper Shubhneet Singh waded into controversy on a day when India-Canadian ties hit rock bottom after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused “Indian agents” of perpetrating the June 23 killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar at a gurudwara in Surrey, Vancouver.
In an Instagram post captioned ‘Pray for Punjab’, along with two folded hands emojis, this baby-faced follower of the late Sidhu Moosewala ran a map of India without the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and the North-East on it.
His fans are shocked, especially Kohli, who had some time back responded to a song posted by Subh on Instagram, saying: “My favourite artist right now @ shubhworldwide and my all-time dancer doing what he does on this song is love. Truly mesmerised.”
After Kohli unfollowed Shubh, cricketers K.L. Rahul and Hardik Pandya did just that. Shubh, incidentally, has one million followers on Instagram and 13 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Explaining its decision, boAT said in a statement on X: “At boAt, while our commitment to the incredible music community runs deep, we are first and foremost a true Indian brand. When we became aware of the remarks made by artist Shubh earlier this year, we chose to withdraw our sponsorship from the tour.”
The “remarks” alluded to in the boAT statement refers to an Insta post that Shubh eventually deleted. He put it up during the Punjab Police hunt for Khalistani terrorist Amritpal Singh and the arrest of many of the singer’s followers.

In the realm of urban living, where space is a coveted commodity, Gen Z is championing a design movement that’s as refreshing as it is practical: minimalist chic.
As these young homeowners embrace smaller apartments, they’re discovering the art of creating aesthetically pleasing spaces that not only maximize functionality but also reflect their distinct personalities. The minimalist chic trend is a testimony to their refined tastes, appreciation for simplicity, and the desire to make the most of every square foot.
The beauty of less is more
Minimalist chic homes are a testament to the adage “less is more.” Gen Z is debunking the notion that smaller spaces is limiting, choosing instead to see them as a canvas for creative expression. By carefully curating furniture, decor, and color palettes, they create an atmosphere of spaciousness that belies the actual square footage.
Every element in a minimalist chic home serves a purpose. Gen Z understands that every piece of furniture, every accent, and every decor item should contribute to the overall aesthetic and functionality. This purposeful design ap-
proach transforms their living spaces into havens of efficiency, where each element contributes to a harmonious whole.
The color palette of minimalist chic homes reflects tranquility and harmony. Neutral tones like whites, grays, and soft pastels dominate, creating a soothing backdrop that allows for easy customization.
Gen Z’s penchant for personalization comes alive through small, well-placed pops of color or unique decor accents that punctuate the serene canvas.
Maximizing storage is crucial in smaller apartments, and Gen Z has mastered this art. From under-bed storage to multi-functional furniture with hidden compartments, their homes boast an impressive array of smart storage solutions that maintain the minimalist aesthetic while keeping clutter at bay.
Gen Z homeowners un-
derstand that aesthetics shouldn’t come at the cost of functionality. They seek out furniture and decor that seamlessly balance form and function. Sofas that convert into beds, wall-mounted desks that fold away, and floating shelves that provide storage without encroaching on floor space exemplify this harmony.
Bringing a touch of nature indoors is a hallmark of minimalist chic design. Gen Z homeowners integrate indoor plants and natural materials like wood and stone to introduce an organic element that adds warmth and authenticity to their spaces. These natural accents create a connection to the outdoors, even in the heart of the city.
Minimalist chic homes may adhere to clean lines and simplicity, but they’re far from sterile. Gen Z homeowners infuse their spaces with personal touches through curated decor items, framed artwork, and cherished mementos. These individualistic accents give their homes character
and a sense of belonging.
Tech integration: less clutter, more convenience
Gen Z’s love for technology seamlessly integrates into their minimalist chic homes. By minimizing visible cables, incorporating built-in charging stations, and integrating smart home devices, they maintain the clutter-free aesthetic while embracing the convenience of the digital age.
Minimalist chic design isn’t just a trend; it’s a reflection of Gen Z’s discerning tastes and their inclination towards purposeful living. By elevating the smallest of spaces into sophisticated, functional havens, they’re redefining contemporary living. With an eye for detail, an appreciation for simplicity, and a commitment to curated aesthetics, Gen Z homeowners are proving that minimalist chic design is not just a style but a philosophy – one that celebrates the art of living with intention, grace, and enduring elegance.

The plant-based diet is all the rage in town, and those who are aware of the benefits of loading their plates with more greens can definitely see the difference. However, if you are new to this diet plan and have some basic inquiries, an expert has answered them all.
Sangeeta Tiwari, a Clinical Dietitian of Artemis Lite, NFC, breaks down all the details of your frequently asked question in a recent chat with
what are the benefits of a plant-based diet?
A plant-based diet offers numerous health benefits. It’s rich in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants while being low in saturated fats. Being rich in fiber, plant-based diets also help in improving digestion. This diet may significantly help in lowering the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. It can also promote weight management and aid in improving overall well-being. A plant-based diet is also known to lower the risk of cancer because of the protective compounds found in plant foods. Not only this, a plant-based diet reduces environmental impact by conserving resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Do I have to give up all animal products to follow a plantbased diet?
No, you don’t have to give up all animal products to follow a plant-based diet. A plant-based diet allows flexibility. While some people choose to eliminate all animal products (vegan), others prefer to incorporate small
amounts occasionally (flexitarian). You can tailor your diet to your preferences. Slow and gradual changes towards plant-based choices can still offer health benefits simultaneously reducing your impact on animals and the environment.
How can I get enough protein while following a plant-based diet?
You can fulfill your protein needs on a plant-based diet by consuming a variety of plant foods. You can consume legumes like beans, lentils, chickpeas, etc. Tofu, and tempeh, are also great choices to fulfill your protein requirements as they are soybased products. Nuts and seeds like almonds, peanuts, and chia seeds are another great option. Whole grains like quinoa, farro, and brown rice can be used as a base for various dishes which can help you get enough protein.
Combining different protein sources throughout the day will help you to ensure that you get all essential amino acids. You can also consume plant-based protein supplements like pea or soy protein powders if needed.
Is following a vegan diet expensive?
The cost of a vegan diet ac-
tually varies depending on your food choices and the lifestyle you have. While some specialty vegan products can be costly, a vegan diet can be affordable if it is centered around whole foods like grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables. Cooking at home rather than frequently eating out and buying in bulk can also help reduce costs. Additionally, local and seasonal produce can be some cost-effective options for those following a vegan diet. Ultimately, budgeting and meal planning can help in making a vegan diet more affordable.
Are there any side effects of a vegan diet?
When properly planned, a vegan diet is generally healthy. However, if the diet is not well planned, potential side effects can include nutrient deficiencies if essential nutrients like B12, iron, or calcium aren’t adequately sourced. Some people are also likely to experience digestive issues, especially if they suddenly increase their fibre intake. Limited food choices and weight changes are some other problems that vegans might face.
How can I get enough calcium while following a vegan diet?
To have sufficient calcium, you can take calcium-rich plantbased foods. Calcium-rich plantbased sources include fortified plant milk, tofu, almonds, leafy greens like kale and collard greens, and calcium-set tofu. Ensuring an intake of a variety of these foods in your diet can help meet calcium requirements. If required, calcium supplements may be an option. However, while taking supplements guidance from a healthcare professional is advised.
Can I consume dairy products while following a vegan diet? No, including dairy products in a vegan diet is not consistent with the principles of veganism. A vegan diet excludes all animal products. Vegans avoid all animal products, including dairy, eggs, and meat. Instead, they opt for plant-based alternatives like almond milk, soy milk, coconut yogurt, and various dairy-free cheeses that are made from plant-based ingredients. There are numerous plant-based alternatives to dairy products available, such as almond milk, soy yogurt, and vegan cheese. These alternatives can be used as substitutes in recipes and for daily consumption.

4Heat oil in a pan and add the marinated chicken, Grill until the chicken is cooked and dry and the meat is well coated with the spicy yogurt curry.
4While the chicken is cooking, prepare the guacamole by peeling and mashing the avocado and mixing it with onion, tomatoes, lime, salt, and coriander.
4To assemble the tacos, place a heap of chicken on the tacos and drop a dollop of guacamole on the chicken.
4Squeeze some lime on the taco and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot.
