JUNE 27–30, 2023
sun valley , idaho
We are excited to host the 42nd annual Sun Valley Museum of Art Wine Auction and pleased that you are joining us for several days of excellent wines, outstanding food, and conviviality in our beautiful Wood River Valley. While Sun Valley is famous for its array of outdoor activities, it also boasts a thriving arts scene that is the envy of much larger communities. We hope you will take advantage of a number of these opportunities while participating in the Wine Auction festivities.
Our family first visited Sun Valley 30 years ago, and although we are spread around the country, Ketchum is our “home base.” We feel blessed that the youngest generation has the good fortune to spend much of their childhood exploring the wilderness while also being exposed to the wide variety of art and cultural events in our town. Summer days are spent rafting, hiking, or mountain biking followed in the evening by a gallery walk, a ballet performance, or a concert on the lawn at Sun Valley or River Run. With most of the Wine Auction events in the afternoon or evenings, you will have ample opportunity to take advantage of all that Sun Valley has to offer.
The Wine Auction is the primary fundraiser for the Sun Valley Museum of Art (SVMoA), providing half its operating budget. Free and open to the public, SVMoA is a non-collecting contemporary museum founded more than 50 years ago that focuses on timely, relevant, and thought-provoking arts and educational programming and exhibitions. A fundamental component of the Museum’s mission is to provide exceptional learning experiences for all ages and skill levels. SVMoA seeks to inspire students’ curiosity and develop their self-expression and critical thinking skills. We hope you will visit the recently renovated Museum on your visit to view the summer exhibition Hidden Gems: Sun Valley Collects
On behalf of the entire community, we thank you, our very generous patrons and contributors, for participating in the 2023 Sun Valley Wine Auction. While you sip delicious wine in a stunning setting, we hope you will take pride in supporting vital arts education in our community.
BID OFTEN, BID HIGH, AND BID PROUD!With gratitude, The Laporte Family
The Sun Valley Museum of Art is thrilled to kick off the summer season with four incredible days of winemaker dinners, outdoor adventures, gourmet experiences, and discoveries for both the senses and mind.
We are grateful to everyone who participates in this spectacular event. All proceeds from the festivities fund SVMoA’s educational and outreach programs, and we thank you for investing in our future: the children, youth, and young adults of the Wood River Valley. Let’s all raise a glass and toast the Laporte family for co-chairing the 2023 Sun Valley Museum Wine Auction! I am thankful for Andie’s leadership of SVMoA’s board and delighted that Chris and Jen have joined her at the helm. To our prestigious vintners, your contributions make this memorable and outstanding event possible. I am also grateful to the hosts of our Winemaker Dinners, Magnum Pig Roast, and River Ranch Wine Walk for opening your homes and for your generous hospitality. And to our award-winning chefs, thank you for sharing your culinary talents and for all you do to make these evenings so special and unique.
My deepest gratitude to our sponsors, and my heartfelt thanks to the amazing, dedicated SVMoA team for their unwavering commitment to the Museum—and for bringing this event to life.
THANK YOU FOR JOINING US THIS YEAR, AND CHEERS TO ALL.

FEATURING SPECIAL MUSICAL GUEST STEVE POLTZ
A master of full disclosure, Steve Poltz outs himself as an unrepentant entertainer. A sardonic provocateur with a lighthearted, acoustic-driven wit, the Associated Press dubbed Poltz “part busker, part Iggy Pop and part Robin Williams, a freewheeling folkie with a quick wit and big heart.”

Following your visit to the Foundry, you’ll visit Squire Broel’s loft studio in historic downtown Walla Walla where you’ll enjoy lunch paired with a selection of wines provided by Woodward Canyon Winery, where Rick and Darcey Small have been crafting premium world-class wines since 1981. A painting by Squire Broel adorns their 2000 Artist Series #9.
The following day, you and your guests will enjoy a very special wine tasting lunch alongside winemaker extraordinaire Todd Alexander and his wife, Carrie. One of a select few 100-point winemakers in Washington State, Alexander serves as winemaker of Force Majeure, BEATUS, Weathereye, and Holocene Wines. His passion lies in crafting terroir-driven wines that showcase the unique characteristics of specific sites through uncompromising, meticulous work in both the vineyard and winery.
