Letter from the Editor
2008-2009 Board of Directors President:
St. Mark’s River Festival was a huge success! There were so many cool people and families out relaxing, taking hayrides, and eating good food. The St. Mark’s Volunteer Fire Department should be proud of all the support the surrounding communities offered.

One member (*cough cough Jerry cough*) turned out to be quite the songbird, as the music stand offered kareoke as well as many live bands. ABATE got to meet a lot of new people and catch up with friends, and bracelets and keychains were handed out, t-shirts were sold, and newsletters shared. Even got a few new sign-ups to add to the numbers. Nan drew quite the crowd with the 50-50 drawing but no one was more surprised than the winner.

Message From The President
Wow, What a night! We survived another Halloween: The kids are bouncing off the walls with sugar rushes from their bounty of candy. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Halloween Night. I know we did. Not much time left until Thanksgiving. I always seem to put on a little extra weight during the Holiday Season. I don’t think all that walking with the kids Halloween night will help much. Well, at least we will be way beyond the election. Hopefully we can all relax and get back to the business of being the greatest country in the world. Of course, no matter who wins the election, some politician somewhere is going to try and mess up our lifestyle. They will try to introduce a bill that will further legislate our love of riding motorcycles. We must be ever so vigilant in our endeavors to stop these kill joys. These people who try to tell us how to live our lives, who think they know what’s best for us, they don’t know squat. Most of them have never ridden and never will. They don’t know anything about our lifestyle or us. They want to protect us from ourselves. Like, we’re incapable of making intelligent decisions for ourselves. I say we collectively vote out these politicians who invade our way of life. I mean we don’t hurt anyone. We just want to ride our motorcycles in the fashion that fits us and to be left alone. This is why we need ABATE. This is why ABATE has a lobbyist. This is why ABATE needs you. Get involved today or your rights could be gone tomorrow. Hope to see you soon Have a safe and Blessed Thanksgiving (As we Americans have an awful lot to be thankful for)
Big Mike
