Monday to Thursday business meetings in PHOENIX2, on Friday a 6-hour executive board meeting at the company’s GLOBAL HQ, and next week the same again, jetting from one meeting to the next – always AVANTI , AVANTI! And then finally:
Vacations with my family. A week off, just us: my wife VALERIE and our kids. What a contrast, what an OASIS of peace. Our son RONIN , an ACE in sports, in the CORAL OCEAN all day long – wind-surfing, wakeboarding, kitesurfing. Our daughters AMADEA and TITANIA enjoying their school holidays on board the spacious yacht, too. My wife and I, swimming in the main deck’s infinity pool, and later indulging in A+ quality dinning. In the evenings, we’d go down to the cinema to watch movies, or we’d sit on deck, looking into the star-lit sky over the PACIFIC , just to wake up the next morning, pampered by the RISING SUN ’s first warm beams. Tell you what – the opportunities to recharge the batteries were simply LIMITLESS !

Stopped, seized, arrested ... in this period the megayacht sector has made headlines, and has certainly not gained in image. And this is a shame because for a handful of boats that have been sanctioned - by virtue of EU's measures against Russia - we are all paying the consequences. The market doesn't like this kind of turbulence. Sometimes, quoting The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, it says "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about", let's hope so. For years it has become the motto with which the most aggressive or nonsense communication is justified. In advertising as well as in politics, on television as well as in the press and on the internet. Beyond any prediction or reaction, the September boat shows with their great turnout along the docks in Cannes and Monte Carlo will express the verdict, anticipating the intentions of clients, old or new. Crossing our fingers throughout the industry, let's open this issue by talking about what fascinates us most about these beautiful creatures of the sea. Art on board has always been our leitmotif and for this issue we have chosen - not surprisingly - the masked work of the much appreciated hyper-realist artist David Uessem. The Salone del Mobile 2022 debuted with a brand new summer edition bringing with it all the lightness and lightheartedness of the season, to the advantage of a sector that has been particularly affected by the absence of events due to the pandemic. Among the novelties, we appreciated the intervention by the Philipp Plein brand, which, commercial or not, is always trendy, to move on to another context, that of the art of mosaics where we found the creations signed by Fantini Mosaici particularly interesting.
Now let's see the second trending topic of the moment, NFTs. There are those who argue, who propose them, those who abuse them and those who turn up their noses. The NFTs were born within the world of contemporary art as a further evolution of that certain snobbish attitude that leads the collections to opt for works that are at first sight incomprehensible to most, but for this reason extremely chic. Here, the works are no longer just incomprehensible but now they are also virtual, practically non-existent, more ephemeral than an abstract concept. However of great value. However, not everything can be NFT. If we had limited ourselves to the world of art, it would have been a trend that was all in all quite acceptable, a niche of the niche of the niche. Now everyone has started doing NFT, simply transforming an idea into a graphic format to use virtually, what a banality!
Good summer and we hope for a return to normality with a certain newfound chic conservatism!

DAVID UESSEM IS A GERMAN ARTIST KNOWN FOR HIS VERY PARTICULAR SKILL IN THE TECHNIQUE OF REALISTIC PORTRAITURE. HE STUDIED ILLUSTRATION, PAINTING AND GRAPHIC. AFTER COMPLETING HIS FREE PAINTING STUDIES AT IBKK BOCHUM, JOINING THE MASTER CLASS OF PROF. DR. QI YANG, HE STARTED HIS CAREER SPECIALIZING AND REFINING HIS ART MORE AND MORE. IT WAS PROF. YANG WHO INSPIRED HIM TO CREATE A FORMAL LANGUAGE THAT DERIVES ITS CORE DYNAMIC FROM OPPOSITION.
The German artist with his personal and highly distinctive style emanates a buoyant aesthetic. All the possible declinations of our emotions become the different and inescapable facets of human existence at the core of his work. Feelings such as insecurity, fear, vulnerability, but also pride, strength and interpersonal relationships are the protagonists of David's art scene.
His subjects with covered faces share the scene with shiny foils and sequins which, in full contrast with the subject whose gaze is turned off, shine and give light to the work. Some are even adorned with equally compelling elements as disco balls, or dressed in astronaut gear and covered in flower helmets. The masked protagonists of Uessem create an interplay of surreal visual worlds that blur reality and illusion.
Uessem's large portraits of veiled visages, coupled with a variety of animals and hidden objects set against picturesque backdrops are brought to life with contrasting, harmonious colors and bold compositions.

Strawberry Swing displays a female portrait whose lower half of the face is hidden under a shiny foil. David Uessem reminds us that we all mask ourselves - to protect ourselves from others and maybe even sometimes to protect others from ourselves.

David Uessem - Born in 1981 in Engelskirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, David Uessem is a painter and illustrator known for his large-scale photorealistic portraits and figurative paintings. David lives and works in his studio, a former church, near Cologne.

Althought at the beginning his studies were focused on illustration, Uessem soon devoted himself to painting, with particular attention to portraiture and figurative paintings. Mixing acrylic and oil techniques in his artworks, he creates meticulously detailed paintings that look like a highresolution photographs. His subjects look as though they are about to step out of his large-scale canvases and become a part of the real world.
The most striking things in Uessem’s large-scale portraits are the expressions of his subjects, almost always look at the viewer straight in the eyes, as if they are going to share their moods and emotions.
In recent years, Uessem’s work has been included in many individual and collective exhibitions in Germany and abroad. In 2005 he won the Culture Prize of the Oberbergischer Kreis, in 2006 he was among the finalists of the Art Prize of the Cultural Forum Overath. From 2006 to 2012, Uessem was lecturer of Illustration at IBKK Bochum.
David Uessem is known for painting with a gripping forcefulness in an extraordinary fashion. His portraits and suggestive narrative scenes are the hallmarks of his artistic work where the aesthetics his creations are distinctive and unparalleled.
He positions his subjects up close, thus with a strong presence. They are commonly larger than life, so that all the details of the models can be observed: every pore, each facial hair, or the threads and quality of a fabric. He emphasises the extremes in the art of painting in an illusionistic manner.
With the help of specific techniques he succeeds in bringing the contrast between illusion and reality into being. The canvas as the dividing line between the spectator and the work of art is accentuated, through the blurring of specific details or by working with a palette knife – a dynamic scene emerges from the static image. The interactions of these contrasting techniques create immanent tensions, which convey an exceptional and subtle glimpse into reality.
David Uessem focuses on snapshots of everyday life. Selected elements like water or other liquids stress these sceneries, when they are for example flowing over a model’s face and eyes. Split seconds are being captured on canvas. These situational perceptions combine with washy and blurred elements in his paintings to create vivid moments.

The masks are a main theme in the work of the artist David Uessem. Over the past few years, this theme has gained increasing importance in his work and has taken on quite eccentric traits, with David Uessem distilling out completely independent forms and depicting them in brilliant foil.

THE MASKING OF SEEING

To grow with art and to take the viewer along with him in the process of seeing pervades the oeuvre and work of painter and sculptor David Uessem.
His large size paintings are exceptionally unique. The artist has developed his distinctive Uessem style – an unmistakable mix of hyper-realistic depiction and surreal pictorial composition. Again and again we experience the captivating and irritating combination of human portraits and their partly masking. Natural skin meets another, artificial material. A shiny foil that wraps around half the face with drapes, or shimmering gold, sparkling jewels or bouquets of flowers, in the form of a crown or pop culture motifs such as Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse. David Uessem uses these elements like recurring requisites that apply to his paintings and sculptures. The approach to the genre of sculpture once again illustrates David Uessem's curiosity, dedication and also the conscious exploration of medial and material boundaries.
What we see doesn't usually look at us with David Uessem, but we do experience his point of view. He basically offers the viewer a school of seeing and perceiving. He shows us how he technically dissects the gold in the representation in order to have represented the perfect material with a step back. The folds of the shiny foil become almost imperceptible brushstrokes, which are only visible when approaching very closely. Every work, every material impresses with its perfection and completion.
And at the same time, what is behind remains closed, masked – what we see is pure surface. As viewers, we experience a pleasurable perceptual game between visibility and concealment, between obviousness and masking - and perhaps a competition between art and reality.
David Uessem stands out with his high standards of technical excellence. With his self-developed oil and acrylic glaze techniques, he can create exact color properties and thus shape his image genesis precisely. With the partially colored primed canvases and a pencil underdrawing, Uessem stands not least in the tradition of the old and new masters of art history.

HOME IS A PERSONAL HEAVEN
The study, carried out by Bain & Company and presented by Claudia D’Arpizio, Senior Partner and Global Head of Fashion & Luxury for the global strategic consulting company, reports that in 2021 the global market for high-end design furnishings (HEDF) was worth around €40 billion, which translates to a post-pandemic rebound 8 times greater than the other sectors of the luxury industry (fashion, cars, experiences), and a 7% increase on pre-pandemic results. The sector could grow even more, up to €60 billion in 2026, if it manages to capitalize on a number of key opportunities, including China's second wave of urbanization, the opposing “city exodus” trend in the US, and the increasing focus on contract and digital.
The report identifies some macrotrends that will guide the evolution of HEDF in the coming years. First of all, the growing trend for 'cocooning’ and the need for self-expression that have reshaped individuals’ relationships with their homes (and will continue to do so). Home is increasingly seen as a personal haven, also in view of the greater amount of time spent there, and this ignites demand across all product categories. Spaces are also becoming increasingly hybridized, thanks to home playing a larger role in people's lives, the “ruralization” of wealth (above all in the US, with increasing numbers of high-net-worth individuals spending more time outside major metropolitan areas), the second wave of urbanization in Asia, and the demand for a more refined aesthetic in commercial and retail spaces.

According to Matteo Lunelli, Chairman of Altagamma: “High-end design is one of the sectors that reacted best to the pandemic crisis, with 14% growth in 2021, which ended with results up 7% on 2019 figures, thanks to consumers rediscovering the domestic dimension. The AltagammaBain Monitor indicates great scope for development and it is estimated that the market could rise from the current €40 billion to €60 billion by 2026. Italian brands play a leading role, with a 25 percent market share, and they will be able to capitalize on these major opportunities by boosting managerialization, investing in sustainability and developing international operations in China and the US, both of which have expanding real estate markets”.
“The high-end furnishings sector, for which Salone del Mobile in Milan represents the foremost international showcase, not only embodies the pinnacle of Italian creativity, but also confirms how Italian companies are thriving, strengthening their positioning globally, and getting excellent results even in challenging times. Their focus on sustainability, research and the value of craftsmanship drives growth and
brings results, as proven by the data presented in the study, and these are also key elements when it comes to moving into new markets interested in superlative Italian-made products”, explained Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile.Milano.
Claudia D’Arpizio, Senior Partner and Global Head of Fashion & Luxury at Bain & Company, observed that “While in the decade before COVID-19 the design market was underperforming compared to other luxury sectors, in the last two years it has benefited from people reconnecting with home, and the rise of high-end real estate and local consumption, and this growth is expected to remain strong in the coming years. In this context, the companies in the sector will have to engage in a strategic rethink and make the leap from being producers to being retailers, with the aim of making the most of the change in consumer behavior, including factoring in rental options and a circular approach. Thanks to their prominent role, Italian brands will be able to lead the way, driving change by leveraging their signature blend of entrepreneurial talent, innovation and creativity”.

- VALUE-
Before the pandemic, the average annual growth of the sector (+4%) was more moderate than other high-end sectors, because it benefited less from Asian/Chinese consumption and control over the final leg of the distribution channel, core drivers above all for personal luxury goods and automotive.
In 2020 the downturn (-6%) was lower than in other luxury sectors, and in 2021 recovery was stronger: +7% for a market value of about €40 billion, making it one of the best performing sectors of the luxury industry.
In the coming years, the market is expected to accelerate compared to past patterns: a growth of 5-7% per year, with an estimated value of around €50-60 billion by 2026.
Contributing factors: the role of digital channels (from 7% to 8-10% of the market), that of contract managed directly by head offices (from 10% to 11-13%), a deeper penetration in new markets (primarily the Asian market, from 17% to 23%), and an increasing level of branding.
Italian brands represent about 25% of the total market value.
- FEATURES-
The market is fragmented, due to the high number of players. Characterized by a prevalence of firms specialized in a single macro-category (e.g. lighting, kitchens, living rooms & bedrooms), which account for around 65-70% of the market, about 70% of the market is mostly engaged in wholesale distribution.
Branded products only account for 30-35%. Among the trends, some in particular are expected to guide the evolution and growth of the market. People have developed a new relationship with their homes, now seen as their personal havens whereto spend an increasing amount of time.

The hybridization of spaces is set to continue: as home becomes increasingly important, internal and external environments are intermingled. We are also witnessing the "ruralization" of wealth in Western markets (especially the United States), where an increasing number of high net worth individuals are looking for homes or spending more and more time outside the major metropolitan areas.
In the emerging economies (China, South-East Asia), the forecast second wave of urbanization will boost the real estate and construction market (expected to rise from €2.6 trillion in 2015 to €5 trillion by 2026).
- CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGH-END COMPANIES -
Among the challenges and opportunities to be seized in the next period, it will be interesting to be able to intercept changes in lifestyle, hypothesize the evolution of business
models (eg rental, circularity) and adopt a flexible approach to change. Companies will need to shift focus from being “producers” to being “retailers” and embrace more ambitious sustainability goals.
Communication will need to be designed to build the brand image and create an engaging narrative around lifestyle and experiences. Last but not least, the distribution network that will need to be improved with a more selective approach and greater control.
Staff and teams will have to be organized in the best possible way and new management skills will have to be evaluated.

Using rare marbles, Fantini Mosaici's master craftsmen will demonstrate their skills and technique by working on the two sculptures designed by the award-winning American architect Peter Hawrylewicz: Palette, a magnificent prototype of a desk, and the Cigno (Swan) bench.
“The desk projects like a cantilever from a base of organic form, Fantini was instrumental in making the engineering work during the production of the work. Costiera+Baia make an unprecedented exciting foray into the world of yacht design and outdoor decor, suggesting a openair lifestyle philosophy that from dry land moves out to sea, configuring the boat as space for living without limits, to be furnished in a refined comfortable way, where the interiors are in constant dialogue with the exteriors.

The leitmotiv for the entire collection is a single mood enhanced by the selection of materials and finishes from the world of yachting and a range of fabrics that harks back to the true heritage of all things nautical, reworked in a contemporary key. Furthermore, the versatile modularity of the lounge and sundeck elements enables the creation of custom settings to meet any user need.
Costiera and Baia together number more than twenty pieces that, mixed and matched together, can be used to furnish spaces of different types, sizes and shapes.
The fabrics are fundamental in characterising the personality of this new yacht collection. The wide stripes of Cruise upholstery used for the Costiera line, is the perfect partner for the neutral livery of Maiorca fabric or the cushions on Baia in the finely striped Navy version. Baia flaunts all its tailoring genes in a very particular version with a strip in nautical leather teamed with fine Linen fabric. All the upholstery, with a soft comfortable handle, have properties and characteristics that ensure their performance in any outdoor context or situation and ensure that the furnishings preserve all their original beauty and function over time.
The padding is water-repellent and ‘sealed’ with a special technique that means water runs off and is prevented from penetrating them, All the cushions and armrests have easy to remove loose covers and the leather is eco-friendly and specific for outdoor use.
The refined, versatile coffee tables that complete the lounge furniture range come in sizes 90x90 cm and 150x90 cm with tops in travertine, a natural material perfect for use outside. The base and the structure of Costiera and Baia chairs and the coffee tables are in powder-coated aluminium, in the finishes Silver, which can be combined with Accoya or natural Mahogany in a polished finish, and Carbonio, which instead goes with Iroko polished Wenge colour inserts.

Luxury Living Group climbs aboard the latest yacht built by the Ravenna-based shipyard, creating exceptionally elegant and refined interiors and décor. Building on the success of the M/Y Emocean, the 38m Explorer launched in 2021 which in its first year of life has already completed two Atlantic crossings, the Ravenna-based shipyard Rosetti Superyachts “relaunches” with RSY 40m EXP, a Hydro Tec project which bears the unmistakable signature of Luxury Living Group in interior design and décor.
The relentless pursuit of balance between functionality and style is the starting point of a shipyard that is well aware of the needs of sea-goers: in fact, Rosetti Superyachts was founded in 2017 as part of the Rosetti Marino Group (which was already a point of reference in the commercial boat market) for the construction of reliable and unique explorer yachts, tailor-made for the client.

Having to select a brand capable of creating a décor which is refined, contemporary and, above all, in harmony with the strong exterior lines such as those designed by Eng. Sergio Cutolo, Owner of Hydro Tec, the choice naturally fell on Luxury Living Group. This company has been a leader in four continents for 40 years in the design, production and distribution of luxury furniture for some of the most important international brands: Versace, Dolce&Gabbana, Trussardi, Bentley Motors and Bugatti, in addition to its own brand Luxence Luxury Living.
“The collaboration with Luxury Living Group stems from our desire to present a project such as the 40m EXP in a different way, already proposing an elegant and modern furnishing solution developed with a company that has made luxury and custom-designed furniture its hallmark. The 40m EXP gives us the opportunity to explore some features already glimpsed in the 38m EXP and to offer them in different solutions on the interiors as well, with customisation tips which can clearly be adjusted to the client’s needs”, said Andrea Giora, Sales & Marketing Director of RSY.
The result is a completely new explorer in terms of elegance and performance which, in addition to the outstanding hydrodynamic and design features already proven by the 38m EXP’s naval platform, has an optimal bow section and
a longer, flatter and relatively dry stern. The yacht combines the excellent qualities of an explorer (cruising range of more than 5,000 nautical miles at a speed of 10 knots, considerable fuel and water tank capacities as well as galley and storage), with the exquisite elegance and taste that have never been seen before on yachts of this category.
With the M/Y Emocean as a starting point, Eng. Cutolo has designed a 40-meter steel and aluminium yacht with a powerful and rigorous profile, intended for long voyages. The four decks are flooded with natural light that enters from the large windows, while the large outdoor and indoor spaces are designed to interact with each other and ensure that guests experience both a social life and privacy.
“The 40m EXP has allowed us to reinterpret and refine Emocean by adding features and solutions that were not possible to add on the 38m”, commented Mr Cutolo.
After having carefully studied the characteristics of the RSY 40m EXP, Luxury Living Group opted for a décor of rare elegance where the keyword is consistency: both in terms of loose furniture (with items selected from all LLG collections) and in terms of fabrics, essences and metals. In fact, one can sense persistent harmony that combines the items with their surroundings, adapting tones, brightness and contrasts according to their different intended uses. A neutral and restful palette prevails on board “lit up” by touches of colour that warm the environment and liven it up, allowing the owner or decorator to customise it as desired.

The main saloon is striking for its brightness, accentuated by the play of reflections on the ceiling mirror: the white “cloud” of the walls, the sofa and the large dining table with a Carrara marble top is warmed by the metal finishes (a leitmotif we will find throughout the yacht), by the marble or bronze coffee tables, the lamps and the delightful dining chairs, which, like the poufs, come in the particular tones of acid yellow to liven up the ambient.
In the owner’s suite, with its private balcony, the tones are muted, underlining the pursuit of a more relaxed and intimate atmosphere. Here, neutral dove-grey colours prevail, warmed by flashes of cognac, blue and the sculptural movement of the wall which, from the head of the bed, extends to the ceiling. Highly refined are the dark wood vanity and the iconic Kingston armchair by Bentley Home.
The lounge on the bridge deck, responding to the same pursuit of contrast between neutral tones and colour and texture, offers a cosy modular sofa from the Trussardi Casa line that lights up with touches of blue to complement the D&G Casa armchairs in their Mediterranean blue theme. The finishing touches added to this space are the accessories and decorations that match the ones in the main saloon.
The bridge deck in its outdoor version is enhanced with unique furniture from the Stiletto line by Versace Home presented at the Salone del Mobile 2022, decorated with a jungle pattern.

NFTS & METAVERSE: FROM NONFUNGIBLE TO FUNCTIONAL FOR BUSINESS
INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCES CAN CHANGE THE RULES OF THE GAME FOR ANY BRAND, GIVING THEM THE ABILITY TO CONNECT WITH THEIR COMMUNITY IN A MEANINGFUL AND LASTING WAY. ARE THEY REALLY A REVOLUTION OR ONLY THE LATEST FOUND IN THE FAIR OF ILLUSIONS AND VANITY?
Terms like NFT and Metaverse have become part of the common language and will gradually become more and more almost “ordinary” tools of a revolution that will have a significant impact on our habits, social and working relationships. Although at this time there is no “precise” legal framework for these new tools - in relation to their creation, marketing, use and resale, - as well as intellectual property and copyrights still to be regulated, there are many authors and brands that have presented and proposed their ideas, starting new businesses in advance, from smartphones to cars, from fashion to photography, from architecture to yachts.

OPPOSITE PAGE: On March 11, the auction hammer was heard around the world when Christie’s sold a purely digital artwork for the first time. Everydays: The First 5,000 Days, an NFT, or non-fungible token, by Mike Winkelmann, aka Beeple, went for an astonishing $69.3 million. Virtually no one in the traditional artworld had heard of him, but that price made Beeple the third most valuable living artist at auction after Jeff Koons and David Hockney.
2021, with aggregate sales of art and antiques by dealers and auction houses reaching an estimated $65.1 billion, up 29% from 2020, with values also surpassing pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Outside the global art market’s turnover of $65.1 billion, sales of NFTs boomed on NFT platforms. The value of sales for art-related NFTs taking place outside of the art market expanded over hundred-fold in 2021 yearon-year reaching $2.6 billion, with even greater growth in collectibles, to $8.6 billion. The volume of transactions on these external NFT platforms also expanded rapidly growing from just over 755,760 in 2019 to 5.5 million, with collectibles heavily dominating the number of sales (85% of transactions in 2021). In 2021, 74% of HNW collectors surveyed by Arts Economics and UBS Investor Watch, had purchased art-based NFTs, with a median expenditure in this category of NFTs totaling $9,000 each.
Let's start examining some cases that were interesting to our editorial staff in these spring months so particularly full of virtual ideas, probably again due to the pandemic and the new difficult global geopolitical situation. We can start with the sector closest to NFTs: the world of art. According to “The Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report”, the Art Market 2022 reveals strong recovery with return to live sales and events, while online sales continued to grow. The repor, in cluding a survey examining the behaviors of high net worth (HNW) collectors, looks at the continued and varied effects of the global pandemic on various sectors of the art market last year. It also delves deeper into the topic NFTs for the first time and outlines the trends and outlook for 2022.
According to the report, following its biggest fall in sales in 10 years in 2020, the global art market - with leading markets represented by USA, China and UK - recovered strongly in
NFT sales also entered the traditional art market’s auction sector in 2021, but at limited values thus far. Christie’s NFT sales totaled $150 million, including the landmark sale of Beeple’s Everydays: The First 5000 Days (2021) for $69.3 million in March. Sotheby’s NFT sales reached $80 million in 2021 – these were also among the most successful in attracting young and new buyers, with 78% of NFT bidders being new to Sotheby’s and more than half of them aged under 40.

Only 5% of second-tier auction houses surveyed had sold NFTs in 2021, although 28% were planning to do so in the next one to two years. Similarly, in the dealer sector, just 6% of the dealers surveyed had sold NFTs in 2021, with a further 19% interested in doing so in the next one to two years.
Forecasting behaviors and looking ahead to the next 12 months, the majority of HNW collectors (53%) were planning to buy art in 2022. A growing interest in digital art is evident, particularly with younger collectors, as over half of the HNW collectors surveyed (56%) reported that they were interested in buying digital art this year, the highest among millennial collectors (61%). There are also no signs that interest in NFTs will abate, with 88% of HNW collectors interested in purchasing NFT-based artworks in future. Both dealers and auction houses were optimistic about their sales prospects in 2022, with 62% of dealers and 81% of the second-tier auction houses expecting improving values in the coming year.
Let's see how virtual NFTs become tangible and functional. In June 2022, to celebrate the brand's 22nd anniversary, Luxury brand VERTU Paris partnered Binance to launch the new VERTU Constellation X Ulm smartphone through an exclusive sales process. 10,555 smartphones were available for sale via the purchase of an NFT. After purchasing an NFT, the 10,555 owners have until September 23, 2022 to choose whether to convert their NTF to the VERTU Constellation X ULM™ smartphone in order to receive it no later than February 2023, or if they decide to keep it as an NFT and thus become part of the new VERTU 3.0 business club bringing together the brand's historical customers and the new web 3.0 community.
Each NFT holder will also have access to exclusive, private events that bring together the most influential and successful people on VERTU's 300,000+ private buyer list and new VERTU3.0 Club members, as well as Hall of Famers (like Elon Musk, Stephen Joseph Squeri and other successful entrepreneurs).

Bulgari also entered the metaverse with a virtual Rome recreated in Unreal Engine 5, a concept that aims to celebrate the greatness of an ancient but futuristic city. The new metaverse concept for the Bulgari brand was presented by the newborn tech studio Experiency, part of the Spencer & Lewis communication group, on the occasion of VivaTech 2022 in Paris.
The high-end jewelry brand, part of the LVMH Group, has chosen to develop a proprietary metaversic platform as a clear indication of the brand’s future path. Developed together with the 101games team using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, the virtual transposition of the concept presented by Experiency aims to celebrate the greatness of a futuristic Rome and its sunsets, while enhancing Bulgari’s classic stylistic features.
“As a luxury brand that has made the crossing of borders its DNA, continuously expanding the vision of our creative universe is intrinsic to our nature”, said Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bulgari Group. “This is the beginning of a new journey that invites our customers to share, through the metaverse, an entirely new experience of luxury, inspired by our original values that have their roots in Italian excellence”.

Following the same method, that is creating a new community around a brand or digital ownership, Pelorus has created a series of member benefits for holders of Oceanco’s nonfungible tokens - NFT.
Experiential travel and yachting company Pelorus, has developed a series of ‘utilities’, or travel experiences, to enhance the launch of superyacht NFTs created by worldclass yacht builders Oceanco and superyacht designer Timur Bozca.

“The brief we gave our talented designers was to let their imagination run wild, incorporating our two passions at Winch: innovative design and marine conservation. ‘Message In A Bottle’ is a fantastical digital asset, which belongs in the realm of limitless creativity, drifting in the imaginary oceans as it saves them. Staying on the subject of safeguarding the oceans, but moving away from the mere and material use of these digital tools to make money and generate new work around their very physical businesses, we present a project worthy of particular note, conceived by a father and his 11-year-old son. The two, diving experts, have created a space in the Metaverse made with real images to safeguard biodiversity. Marco Daturi is an expert in diving and technology and his son Lupo follows in his footsteps. Their initiative aimed to get the voice of the ocean to everyone, sensitizing each individual to understand the importance of safeguarding such an immense asset and translate this urgency into a truly concrete action.
“The Metaverse enables us to almost literally ‘immerse ourselves’ in the first virtual photographic exhibition dedicated to the oceans”, the Daturis explain. In an isle space, a gallery of underwater photographs taken by Daturi in various countries around the world, a crypto obj by Daturi’s son, Lupo, 11 (with LupoVero as his handle), and a portal to Sea Shepherd outdoor space have been created.
The grand opening took place in May. Access was global with free admission. The event aimed to bring together and unite different perspectives for one specific purpose: raising awareness about what is happening in the seas and oceans. The virtual campus, which is surrounded by water, will be used as a “networking hub for crypto projects, crypto companies and crypto events”. People can also buy plots of land and set up businesses in the virtual city and if they do so, they will also have a stake in the physical Liberland.
Schumacher designed the city using parametricism, a type of computer software used to generate architectural forms. He believes that the metaverse will act as a catalyst for parametric design, as there are no urban planning limitations in the virtual spaces.

THE IMPACT OF WAR ON THE SUPERYACHT SECTOR
IT SEEMS TO BE THE TREND OF THE NEW SUMMER GOSSIP, CERTAINLY, THE NEWS OF A SEIZED YACHT ALWAYS GOT A LOT OF ATTENTION, WHETHER IT BE BECAUSE IT TURNS ON THE SPOTLIGHTS ON OBJECTS GENERALLY WRAPPED BY CONFIDENTIALITY, OR BECAUSE MEDIA ALWAYS HAVE TO GAIN. BUT WHAT IMPACT DO THESE NEWS HAVE ON THE SECTOR? HOW MIGHT THE WAR IN UKRAINE IMPACT THE SUPERYACHT INDUSTRY?
The current geopolitical situation requires everyone to take a position, because not taking is in this case a partisan choice. The plan is twofold, we must ask ourselves ethical questions to which we must give practical answers: sanctions or no sanction. Regardless of your opinion, the megaycht sector has been targeted and mocked a little by the general press in this period, which referred to it by speaking of boats as “objects for nabobs”. And this is a bit annoying because it seems to neglect the important industry that composes it.
A 140-meter yacht moored in Tuscany has never been in the spotlinght as it was in recent months, yet it is a gigantic construction that is impossible to miss. But to make the news is to know whose it is, because if the owner has ties to the Kremlin, then the yacht represents some kind of object of evil, and in a way, that doesn’t seem to make much sense.
The decision taken by the US and its allies to act against Russian oligarchs and find and seize their yachts, but also their luxury apartments and private jets, have had not only a considerable impact on the market but also on the sector’s reputation. Apparently the sector does not seem to suffer serious consequences, perhaps just a little concern. But it is certain that uncertainty is not good for the market.
Even though some parties have questioned the legality of this action, the Civil Asset Forfeiture Reform Act allows
assets to be forfeited to the government in relation to foreign crimes. For this reason, assets can become the property of the seizing government.
With the war continuing in Ukraine and international governments strengthening the already heavy sanctions on Russian companies and oligarchs, questions are being raised about how this war in Europe is impacting the superyacht industry, including crew and its complex supply chain.
As a result, many Russian-owned superyachts are leaving contentious waters and heading for locations where they are less likely to face seizure, including the Maldives.
From the market perspective, Russian owners represent the second largest ownership country behind the United States, with a 9% market share, which increases up to 18% if we consider the Eastern European region. But what may cause concern, is that Russian owners are also the second largest owners of new-build yachts over 40 metres, with 13.2% of the market share. According to these data, the situation is clear: the financial contribution by Russian clients to the industry is significant, particularly in the case of Northern European shipyards.

But the problem is not limited to new builds, but also includes the refit and charter market, where a number of Russian-owned vessels are among the most coveted. The owners themselves could give up chartering their yachts, given the possible difficulties in paying.
As soon as the war broke out, we heard of a Ukrainian crew member aboard the 47m M/Y Lady Anastasia taking action against a Russian yacht owner in an attempt to sink the yacht.
With the initiation of the sanctions, superyachts owned by Russian billionaires who have ties to President Vladimir Putin were moved to other safe places. According to press reports, at least four massive yachts owned by Russian business leaders have been seen moving toward Montenegro and the Maldives. Both Montenegro and the Maldives do not currently have extradition treaties with the US.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A RUSSIAN OLIGARCH’S YACHT IS SEIZED?
Last March the French authorities seized the 86-metre Oceanco superyacht Amore Vero in La Ciotat, in the South of France, under new sanctions issued by the European Union against Russia. Amore Vero was seized by customs in the French port on March 2 after it was found in breach of the law by attempting to leave.
The French Ministry of Economy and Finance linked the yacht to Igor Sechin, who was added to a list of sanctioned individuals by the European Union in February. The sanction document said the owner was one of Vladimir Putin’s “most trusted and closest advisors” and “one of the most powerful members of the Russian political elite”.
The Maldives has also emerged as a “safe haven” for yachts in danger of being frozen, and data from live vessel tracking site Marine Traffic indicates that some well-known ships are either en route to the Indian Ocean island nation, or are already there.
Montenegro has also announced plans to join the EU sanctions against Russia. The property of targeted Russian executives is likely to take another hit, as the Biden administration recently announced the creation of a taskforce that will take aim at their lucrative assets, including yachts and mansions. France is putting together a list of properties owned by Russian oligarchs, including cars and yachts, that could be seized under sanctions by the European Union.
With that, some of Russia’s wealthiest are moving their boats to other locations, potentially with the hope they can avoid having those items seized.
Amore Vero remains moored in La Ciotat, a harbor town on France’s Cote d’Azure, awaiting a fate that Benjamin Maltby, an attorney who specializes in superyacht law for the UK-based firm Keystone Law, described as “completely unprecedented.”
Same destiny for superyachts Lena and Lady M, which were seized in Italy.
The Russian yachts are expected to remain in the custody of the harbor where they were detained. However, since the owners of the Russian superyachts are sanctioned, they can’t pay the crew, or mooring fees. According to some Facebook groups in which crew members are active, some of them, not being sure of being paid anymore, have decided not to serve on board anymore.

As regards the cost of maintenance, which is usually estimated to be 10-15% of the value of a yacht, this should be managed by the local harbor authorities or governments, but at a minimum level in order to keep them from sinking and polluting the surrounding waters.
SUPERYACHTS OWNED BY RUSSIAN OLIGARCHS ARE VANISHING FROM GLOBAL TRACKING SYSTEMS TO AVOID SANCTIONS
Other superyachts allegedly owned by Russian oligarchs have taken a different route. According to an investigation by The Observer, six superyachts linked to sanctioned Russian oligarchs have disappeared from global tracking systems in an attempt to avoid sanctions.

This unexpected geopolitical crisis that does not seem to have an imminent end has also produced side effects in the superyacht industry, a sector that has recorded excellent results in the last two years, with an increasingly convinced demand. According to data released by various institutional

Many of the workers and yacht suppliers subject to the sanctions are not from Russia, however they have suffered the consequences of the sanctions, being unemployed or unable to get paid.

The increase in gas prices, in Europe and the United States, is certainly not a secondary aspect, prices that were already on the rise. Imagine how much it can cost you to fill up the tank of a mega yacht now that prices have doubled. But not only the cost of raw materials with which many superyachts are built, such as steel and aluminum, has also undergone record increases.
Finally, the privacy aspect that many customers want to preserve. Ownership of the yacht can be very difficult to define, particularly if the owner wishes to prevent his identity from being revealed.
“If the real owner wants to complicate things, it can be very difficult to track down the real owner,” superyacht law expert Benjamin Maltby told CNN. “Almost all large yachts are owned by the company, as they are sources of responsibility that owners prefer to enclose”.
If this is the next trend, we will see it in the coming months, because the boats have to be delivered, otherwise the industry and the related industries risk really big.
Unfortunately, the recent stories about seized superyachts have not benefited the image of the sector.
To stem this bad publicity, the yacht community has come together to help those affected by the conflict, especially Ukrainian yacht crew members, with families in Ukraine.
It is possible that as the months go by, more and more wealthy Russians will be added to the sanctions lists, negatively impacting the number of yachts seized. At the moment, according to brokerage agencies, demand is still overall supported by American buyers, who seem to be less hesitant than European ones.
However, this level of secrecy is now proving more problematic as customers are starting to ask further questions about the background of the yachts to charter. Often there are customers who want to know who the owner of the boat is, or vice versa, owners who want to know the origin of the guests on board their boat for the summer.
As for superyachts that have already been frozen, it is unclear how long they will be held and in what state they will be if or when they are released, a situation that is unprecedented and for which it is quite impossible to make predictions as close as possible to. reality.
Perhaps good news regarding the unfinished, Russiancommissioned yachts currently in production, there are already reports that non-Russian buyers have made bids to take over these projects.
As a further consequence, it is expected that there will be fewer customers from the United States visiting Europe this summer, a factor that will not do any good to the entire tourism system linked to the ports, already suffering from the pandemic effect. The yachting world is not immune to difficult challenges, in the past it has had to overcome several, and in the opinion of many, the sector has always come out renewed and stronger.

THE STORY OF SOME OF THE LARGEST RUSSIAN-LINKED SUPERYACHTS SEIZED
140M M/Y SCHEHERAZADE - For several weeks in spring, the yacht was at the center of news from international broadcasters, who spoke of the possible arrest of the 140-meter superyacht, as a boat to be brought back to Vladimir Putin himself. The boat, built by Lürssen in 2020, was stationed in Marina di Carrara for maintenance work at The Italian Sea Group shipyard. Scheherazade was designed by the German shipyard while the interiors are signed by the Zuretti Interior Design studio.
106M M/Y AMADEA - In May the 106.1-meter Lürssen M/Y Amadea was stopped in Fiji where the High Court placed it under arrest, after a period of claim on ownership by the

The government said Phi was owned by a Russian businessman that it did not name, but that ownership was “deliberately” hidden, with the company the ship is registered to based in St Kitts and Nevis, and the ship carrying Maltese flags. The Transport Secretary commented that the decision to arrest the yacht was, “a clear and stark warning to Putin and his cronies”. She is the first vessel to be detained in the UK under the legislation against Russian oligarchs and elites.
106M M/Y FLYING FOX - Last March the 136-metre Lürssen superyacht Flying Fox was arrested in the Dominican Republic, according to instructions received by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations. Launched in 2019, Flying Fox has the exterior design by Espen Øino International and interior by Mark Berryman Design.

Launched in 2011, Tango boasts an exterior and interior design by Harrison Eidsgaard, and naval architecture by De Voogt Naval Architects. According to statements by the Spanish police, “the yacht was seized as part of investigations into fraud, money laundering”.
Stories like these have involved several yachts and others will probably be added to the list: 72m M/Y Axioma arrested in Gibraltar; 92,5m M/Y Royal Romance arrested in Croatia; 135m M/Y Crescent arrested in Spain; 85,1m M/Y Valerie arrested in Barcelona. 85,5m M/Y Amore Vero seized in La Ciotat; 104m M/Y Quantum Blue arrested in the Principality of Monaco. Particular attention received the 143m Sailing Yacht A - the largest sail assisted superyacht in the world - , whose arrest took place in Trieste. Launched in 2017, and one of the world's most recognisable yachts, A was undergoing maintenance works when it was stopped. As to the world's largest yacht by gross tonnage, the 156-meter M/Y Dilbar, German authorities confirmed the yacht is subject to a freeze order under European Union economic sanctions against Russia, but so far it has not been arrested or seized.

Anew 160-metre gigayacht belongs to the sea. It is the new amazing construction that came to life in the German Bremen-based shipyard, Lürssen, under the codename Project Blue. The new superyacht, now christened Blue, had a successful second sea trial at the end of June and left the shipyard on 2nd July to embark on her maiden voyage, heading to the Mediterranean where she will now enjoy her very first season with her new Owners.
With the interior and exterior design by Terence Disdale, Blue was first launched in February 2022. The yacht, which among the main features shows a pair of helicopter landing sites, is one of the largest superyachts by volume in the world, the second largest for the German shipyard, which still boasts the primacy of the other two largest yachts, Azzam (180m, 2013) and Dilbar (156m, 2016).
Efficiency and the desire to be as environmentally friendly as possible were key drivers for the technology on board. Blue is equipped with a highly efficient Diesel-Electric Hybrid Propulsion Concept developed by Lürssen’s own engineering specialists.

The concept combines dieselpropulsion- technology with efficient modern electric propulsion systems. Blue’s system consists of two diesel engines that drive two controllable pitch propellers through individual gearboxes. These gearboxes are equipped with PTI/PTO units that can be used for either electric propulsion (slow speeds) or for generating electrical energy to operate the vessel at higher speeds.
Blue is also equipped with an electric Azimuth Pod Drive, which in electric mode can be used separately, or when the PTI units are engaged, with the two propeller shafts. In order to generate less noise and vibration and reduce nitrogen oxide levels, Blue is equipped with a state-of-the-art exhaust after-treatment system.
Furthermore, the wastewater treatment plant is equipped with new membrane technology that allows the treated wastewater to be safely disposed of in ‘drinking water quality’.

Lürssen will present AHPO at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show 2022 in September, where the yacht - the largest on display - will have her world debut.
Her construction began under the codename Project Enzo. After her delivery in November 2021, the striking and bespoke 115-metre superyacht has spent her first season in the Caribbean and is currently cruising in the Mediterranean.
AHPO has been built for a repeat client who previously owned an 86-metre Lürssen and required top-notch design and engineering as well as seagoing comfort for his family. Her owner was so impressed with the build process that he wanted to replicate the experience – right down to the same build and design team.
For the exterior and interior design, he once again trusted design office Nuvolari–Lenard, who gave the yacht a unique look. The objective was for the yacht to enable a healthy and family-focused life on board with numerous facilities for sports and activities including the extra-large gym on the sky lounge deck and the spacious wellness area on the lower deck
Featuring accommodations for 14 guests in 7 cabins, AHPO was designed to travel to her destinations in utmost comfort:
the yacht is fully equipped - as all Lürssens - with the latest technology and engineering systems, in particular those ones targeted to reduce electrical power consumption and emissions. For instance, the generators are fitted with a heat recovery system to heat the pool water, leading to reduced use of electrical power and lower emissions, while dynamic positioning enables electronic anchoring in sensitive and remote areas, protecting the seabed and allowing for safe mooring regardless of water depth.
Moran Yacht & Ship managed and supervised the project, bringing with them their wide spectrum of experience and consolidated knowledge. AHPO will join the Moran Yacht & Ship charter fleet and will be available for select charters in 2022.

Her striking, supercar-inspired exterior and serene interior come from the drawing boards of Nuvolari Lenard, which marks the third collaboration between the shipyard and designer, following the 86-metre yacht Quattroelle. AHPO's sharp profile is characterised by a crisp white hull contrasted by stripes of black, with distinctive scoop-shaped windows along the hull line and tapered decks.
Her rooms are full of serene hues, supple lines, and organic patterns that draw influence from the natural world. With a flowing architecture and plenty of glass, Nuvolari Lenard has created a link between the inside and outside throughout the superyacht with a fluid layout and plenty of glass.
When it comes to relaxing, AHPO has plenty of luxurious features to help guests enjoy their stay. On the upper deck, there is an impressive 8-metre swimming pool, jacuzzi and a wealth of sunbeds, alongside a fully equipped gym for visitors to include their workouts in their stay. Elsewhere, a 12-seat cinema with LED star-studded ceilings and plush box seats provides blockbuster entertainment.

It is worth taking a look at the first creation of the 50-meter range from the German shipyard. Lürssen used this project to re-establish the yard in the 55-75 metre size bracket. Moon Sand is the smallest yacht launched by the yard since 1955.
After hitting the water for the first time in April 2021, exactly three years after it was commissioned, the 55m Lürssen superyacht Moon Sand, previously known as Project 13800, was seen crusing in London last November, following her sea trial and delivery in June 2021.
Designed by Bannenberg & Rowell, Moon Sand is described as “truly bespoke” with “distinctive lines” influenced by the 1973 Lürssen superyacht Carinthia VI
Moon Sand's interior features a “fearless use of colours and textures” combined with “museum-quality interior furniture pieces”.
“Every millimetre of interior and exterior space usage has to be presented, discussed and agreed with the owners, and this has led to many inspiring discussions”, said Dickie Bannenberg. “We really look forward to seeing her completed over the coming months, including a spectacular interior.”
Managing partner Peter Lürssen spoke about the challenges of building a smaller yacht. "On a 100 metre+ boat, it’s a question of the enormity of the workload and coordinating sometimes close to 1000 people working on a boat”, he said. “On a boat of this size, the question is more of how to squeeze all of the systems in and that has been a challenge”. However he added that “it's exciting to build a yacht of this size” and “we want to show prospective clients, brokers, designers that we are able to build these and that we would like to build these”.
Lürssen is currently working on a second yacht in this “small” range: a 62-metre yacht under project name Cap d’Ail (and formerly known as Project 794), whose hull was originally laid in June 2019, arrived at the Lürssen site in Bremen last January. The exterior design was created by Espen Øino. Imperial Yachts, as the owner’s representatives, will oversee the final construction phase up to delivery of the yacht.

The contract for the project of the new Amels 78m Full Custom, the official name of which is yet to be released, was signed during the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show and the owner appointed Espen Øino and his team to develop the exterior design and General Arrangement, and Zuretti Interior Designers to create the interior. With a Gross Tonnage of 2,885, the Custom Amels 78 project (also known by her Yard Number 476) will be one of the largest Amels superyachts to date.

The 78m full custom project by designer Espen Øino has successfully been launched at the Damen Shipyards hullbuilding facility on the Danube. Following transport to the Amels outfitting yard in the Netherlands, the 2,850GT yacht is scheduled for completion in 2021.
The owner’s team, represented by Andrew Tree of Superyacht Technical Services, joined Øino and the Amels and Damen teams, including managing director Rose Damen, to mark the landmark occasion.
Although the most recent Amels delivery of this scale, Here Comes The Sun, was slightly longer, this new full custom
project has a larger gross tonnage, technically making her the largest Amels superyacht to date when delivered.

M/Y INFINITY
Built in the Netherlands, the 117-metre gigayacht is the largest creation by Oceanco and was delivered following successful sea trials earlier this year. Formerly known as Project Y719, Infinity is one of the few yachts longer than 100m and for Oceanco she represents the largest yacht ever constructed (and the largest to be built in the Netherlands), although this record-breaking build is soon set to be superseded by new Oceanco's in-build 127-metre sailing superyacht Project Y721.
Built with a Teak deck, a steel hull, and aluminium superstructure, Infinity can reah a top speed of 18 kn and can accommodate up to 24 guests in 12 staterooms, with 43 crew members. She has a gross tonnage of 4980.0 GT and a 15.9m beam.
Espen Øeino International was responsible for the exteriors, with naval architecture by Lateral Naval Architects, while the interior design was a creation by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design. As precised by Marcel Onkenhout, Chief Executive of Oceanco, "Infinity represents the true power of co-makership that is central to all our projects”.
Infinity's contemporary interior includes a wellness area with a spa, sauna, gym, and yoga studio.
According to the shipyard, Infinity has one of the best crew areas, mechanical systems and technology and an unprecedented level of onboard comfort, with a particular emphasis on low noise and vibration levels.

The first Feadship to be unveiled in 2022 was the 71-metre Juice. This new addition to the Feadship fleet once again emphasises how the pure custom approach at Feadship enables clients to truly let their creative juices flow. Highlights include a complete owner’s deck, a giant main deck pool and some of the sweetest lines seen on a superyacht this year.
January saw the undocking of the 71-metre Juice from the giant Feadship construction hall in the Dutch capital. As reports the yard, “observers were mesmerised by the beauty of this timeless Feadship: a blend of polished stainless steel, glass and teak offer a classic feel while the exterior lines showcase a sleek and captivatingly contemporary elegance”.
The owner of Juice is a repeat client for Feadship, who has worked tirelessly with the designers at RWD to ensure a refined exterior flow with soft lines and distinctive creases.
All unnecessary elements have been removed to generate an elegant yet masculine look. Another instantly visible aspect is the walk-around superstructure along with a striking coherence between the decks on a superyacht that synthesises Feadship’s seasoned ability to meet the most stringent demands.
From the pillars and the stairs to the base of the large eight-metre pool on the main deck, all structural parts of the exterior have been finished in polished stainless steel. Transparent features are made of glass, including the railings and the sides of the pool, and large flat and curved glazed panels ensure unrestricted views.
Everything one touches outdoors, from the aft saloon doors to the hand and cap rails, has been considered by the designers to give a feeling of warmth and comfort. Beneath the stunning flush foredeck are housed three custom tenders – a ten-metre limo, eight-metre guest RIB and a rescue boat –that are launched via the gullwing doors in the hull.
Peter Marino has drawn an interior which is entirely focused on using the most beautiful materials. Again, the client devoted countless hours to finding the essential ingredients, right down to personally selecting pieces of veneer for the central staircase. This exacting attention to detail and insistence on perfection are why the owner came to Feadship: every element on board has been meticulously designed and built, with nothing left to chance.
Juice has a complete owner’s deck between the bridge and main decks, an unusual acquisition for a yacht of this size. She also features four impressive guest suites on the main deck, a large beach club, a lower deck cinema, and a gymnasium on the sun deck.
The name reflects the fact that the owner is a keen collector of modern art and the 3D logo of the name on the funnel is inspired by an eponymous 1967 work by American artist Ed Ruscha. Auction connoisseurs will recognise the nod to ‘juice on top’, an expression from that world with a similar meaning to ‘icing on the cake’. There can be no more appropriate description of a Feadship that is the pinnacle of achievement for all parties involved.

In July Benetti launched the brand’s new four-deck B.Yond 37M Voyager, a product born from the revolutionary vision of Paolo Vitelli, Founder and President of Azimut|Benetti Group, and architect Stefano Righini. Benetti B.Yond 37M embodies the excellence of the new Voyager series, reflecting the style of the modern owner. Instead of fiberglass, Benetti opted for a return to steel, a step back in time to the 1950s, when Benetti pioneered the introduction of metal in place of wood. Steel is a symbol of durability and solidity, quintessential features of a Voyager designed for long cruises.
The innovative E-Mode Hybrid system by Siemens Energy allows to optimise on-board energy consumption, which translates into unprecedented CO2 and NOx emissions reductions for a yacht in this category. The B.Yond 37M is the world’s greenest boat in its class, combining SCR catalytic filters with the innovative E-Mode Hybrid system by Siemens Energy, which is based on a crew-friendly integrated add-on architecture built on top of a traditional system. The result is extremely simple management, with switching possible from mechanical to electric propulsion and vice versa. The Full Electric mode for zero emission navigation allows B.Yond 37M to enter protected marine areas or those normally offlimits to motor yachts.
The lithium battery pack makes it possible to stay at anchor in Hotel Mode with zero emissions. With the new generation of high energy density batteries, the 300 kW/h pack will provide up to 8 hours of autonomy at anchor during the day and 12 hours at night.
The revolutionary concept devised by Stefano Righini, who brings all his creative flair into play, features the inclusion of a fourth deck, which makes it possible to raise all the most noble areas of the yacht and gives them an incredible panoramic view.
The service area on the Lower Deck includes a walk-in wine cellar and a cold room, unusual features on a boat this size. The Main Deck provides the night area for guests, offering four suites accessed from a panoramic lounge featuring generous windows, which Benetti calls the Playroom. Stepping up onto the Upper Deck, the living area offers a completely unobstructed 360-degree view. Moving up still further, the Bridge Deck is set aside for the owner, while the Sun Deck provides a dining area with a pantry and an outdoor table sheltered by a hard top.
The layout is extremely flexible: the Main Deck, in addition to four guest suites that are particularly spacious for a 37-meter yacht, can optionally contain either the master cabin or the Playroom with a panoramic view. The Bridge Deck can accommodate, either the master cabin or a panoramic veranda, while on the Lower Deck the gym can be replaced by a sixth guest cabin. For the captain, there is a double accommodation solution, adjacent to the wheelhouse and in the crew quarters.
The white steel hull and aluminium superstructure was designed by Pierluigi Ausonio’s firm P.L.A.N. A. The interior design by Benetti architect Mauro Izzo offers even more potential for customisation. Italian leading contemporary design brand Giorgetti was chosen by Benetti to provide the furnishings for the first B.Yond 37M and enrich the environment with its refined and sophisticated language through all the yacht’s decks.

In July Codecasa Shipyards successfully delivered to her owner Codecasa 43M M/Y Boji, one of the 6 vessels in the Vintage Series.
Boji is a totally custom-made full displacement yacht, with steel hull and aluminum superstructure designed by the inhouse technical team of Codecasa, who also completed the naval architecture.
Boji will sail in the Mediterranean Sea with her distinctive elegant and eye-catching line. Her large spaces will allow best comfort and privacy for owners and guests in all areas and the navigation will be comfortable and safe in any weather conditions.
At the launch ceremony, the Codecasa family, proud of this new success, thanked all the people involved in the construction beginning from their employees and suppliers, the owner's surveyor George Tsokris of Navinco, the Captain Petros Vranas and all his crew, the brokerage company Torrance Yachts, represented by Tassos Papantoniou. Thanks to their prefessional and careful collaboration the delivery of the yacht to her owner was possible in the agreed deadline at satisfaction of all parties involved.
Boji can reach a top speed of 16.5 kn, covering a maximum range of 4000 nm when navigating at cruising speed, with power coming from two Caterpillar diesel engines. Boji can accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 staterooms, with 9 crew members. She has a gross tonnage of 465 GT and a 9.0 m beam.

The new bespoke CRN 62-metre vessel was christened as M/Y Rio in a memorable private ceremony last January 2022. Designed and built by CRN in close collaboration with Dutch studio Omega Architects, who created the exterior concept, and designers Pulina Exclusive Interiors for the styling inside, the steel-aluminium yacht was sold by Alex Heyes & David Westwood of TWW Yachts.
With a beam of 11.2 metres, this 4-deck superyacht can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in the owner’s suite and the 5 guest suites. The yachts is served by an elevator to all decks.
Rio is an entirely bespoke opus with a strong artisanal stamp, an elegant yet supremely sporty vessel with flowing hull lines and a near-vertical bow.
Numerous aspects have been carefully conceived to offer the owner family a superb cruising experience: the discerning distribution and quality of the spaces, with generous indoor and outdoor living areas; a superb wellness lounge and fitness area in the beach club; and the exclusive owner’s deck, a great oasis of intimacy that can also be enjoyed as a social zone.

Last May a new work of art in true CRN style entered the water for the first time: the new 52-metre M/Y Ciao is a bespoke yacht launched at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona. The exciting private ceremony was attended by the owner, the senior management and the employees with their families.
The sale of the 52-metre superyacht was brokered by Eduardo Cury, President of Miami Yacht Access, with the client represented by Antonello Vittorio Meloni.
Made entirely of aluminium, M/Y Ciao has been designed in close collaboration with architecture and design studio Omega Architects, who conceived the external lines, and architects Massari Design, who created the outdoor guest areas and interiors.
At 52 metres in length, 9 metres in the beam and with a gross tonnage of 499, this new true custom yacht spans 4 decks and accommodates up to 10 guests in the comfort of the main-deck owner suite and 4 VIP cabins below.

M/Y RESILIENCE
The ISA Classic 65-metre M/Y Resilience was built by Palumbo Superyachts in Ancona and embodies a skillful fusion of style, craftsmanship and refinement throughout all her 6 decks, measuring over 1400 GT. The exterior and interior design was developed by Team for Design Enrico Gobbi with the naval architecture by Palumbo Superyachts. Edmiston and RVB Marine supervised the project on behalf of the owner, acting also as owner’s representatives. Constructed in steel and aluminum, Resilience internal layout features six cabins with a seventh convertible, including a 12-metre wide full-beam owner's cabin located on the forward main deck.
Versatility and lighting effects are the key elements of the lower deck, which boasts a 180-square-metre beach clu accessible through three different sides, a lounge area, bar, showers, gym, sauna, massage room and a welcome area for boarding/disembarking guests. The lighting scheme in the yacht was studied in great detail, including a lane of ceiling LED lights running symmetrically with respect to the central door, accompanying the view up to the back wall. The circular staircase features a stunning glass jellyfish installation designed by Arch. Gobbi and made by Preciosa.
The large main saloon and dining room was designed with opening doors on all sides, when they are all open it can also form a contiguous part of the aft area where the spectacular 6-metre long swimming pool is located on the stern and is equipped for counter-current swimming.
The bridge deck forward hosts the Captain's area, the sixth VIP cabin and a very private Owner’s office. Past the lobby,
we enter the very spacious sky lounge, designed for lounging and movie-watching, with a bar area and a self-playing Edelweiss transparent grand piano. The external cockpit is fitted for an incredible outdoor cinema experience.
The sundeck is certainly one of the most versatile areas thanks to the articulated system of pocketing door openings that can either make this deck completely open, or close and air-conditioned. The secluded mosaic-tiled Jacuzzi allows guests to fully enjoy moments of relaxation, with large sunpads alongside and a outdoor shower. The cockpit aft hosts the focal element of this deck with a custom-made circular fireplace made from cracked glass and polished stainless steel. The observatory deck offers a sunbathing area where to enjoy a unique panoramic viewpoint in total privacy and peace.
Resilience is available for charter through Edmiston. Onboard equipment includes two jet skis, a 27ft guest tender and a 19ft crew tender. These are stored in the large forward garage. A side door opens to port and beam cranes maneuver the tenders into the water.
2 MTU 12V engines of 1500kW each reach a 17.5-knot maximum speed, cruise at 14 knots and provide a range of 5500 nautical miles at 11 knots.

M/Y MASQUENADA WAS THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR REFITTING FOR NEW OWNER PIER LUIGI LORO PIANA, WHO, AFTER LOSING HIS BELOVED M/Y SONG, DID NOT WANT TO WAIT LONG FOR A NEW BABY. WITH NAUTA ACTING AS THE BUYER’S BROKER, THE CLIENT “BOUGHT TIME”, SINCE ANY OTHER NEW BUILD, SAIL OR MOTOR, WOULD HAVE TAKEN AT LEAST THREE YEARS.
Owner Pier Luigi Loro Piana is a highly experienced sailor, but the Masquenada motor yacht refit project was based around his changing priorities. He still enjoys competitive sailing, but when he started planning a round-the-world trip it quickly became clear that an explorer yacht would offer much more onboard comfort during long-range cruises.
“I decided to go for a big, beautiful motor yacht of around 5060 metres in length, capable of accommodating around 1012 guests for exploring the world in safety and comfort”, says Pier Luigi Loro Piana. “The size of the yacht was critical: any bigger and I wouldn’t be able to access the small, secluded bays I was used to visiting with my sailing yachts”.
TOP-TO-BOTTOM REFIT
Building new was seriously considered at the beginning and together with Mario Pedol they come up with a new build 58-meter motor yacht concept.
“But any new build, sail or power” says Mr. Loro Piana “would have taken at least three years and after one year from the loss of my beloved My Song I started thinking I didn’t want to wait that long”, so the hunt began for a suitable candidate for refitting.
“I recalled a vessel called Aspire [originally Etra] I had visited a few years before that I thought could fill the bill”, says Mario Pedol, co-founder of Nauta Design, who has known the owner for over 40 years.

“Solidly built with ocean-going range, her almost 600GT volume and 51-metre length suited the owner’s plans to tour the world with his family. With Nauta acting as the buyer’s broker, a deal was struck and Aspire arrived in Italy in September 2020. Time was short and we wanted to get works off the ground so we chose Lusben, Azimut-Benetti’s refit branch, for this top-to-bottom refit that required redesigning the vessel both inside and out”.
The most obvious intervention requested by the owner is the complete redesign of the main deck aft. The stern had already been extended during a previous refit, but he wanted an open-air beach club with easy access to both the water and to the main salon that was also able to house an array of tenders and toys.
PIEDS DANS L’EAU
To this end, the aft bulwarks were cut away to provide a flush deck with unimpeded views suitable for heli operations and the transom was transformed into a true pieds dans l’eau swim platform. A major modification was removing the old deck crane and replacing it with a custom-built, 7.5-tonne capacity crane that folds away out of sight into a dedicated compartment below deck. With space for two or more tenders, including an amphibious Iguana, when the tenders and toys are in the water the flush aft deck provides an enormous lounging or party space. The boarding ladders on both sides are height-adjustable depending on whether a tender or the Maxi Dolphin-Nauta chase boat is docked alongside.

“The crane hangar required cutting off the stern section and adding a completely new aft block”, says Pedol. “Naval architect Francesco Rogantin was engaged to reconfigure the underwater lines and we like to think the new transom looks more like a sailing yacht than a motoryacht. The main salon was transformed with the installation of a 2-metre wide door to enhance the connection with the open aft deck. The starboard access to the engine room is also new, as are the ventilation trunks with integrated chaise lounge”.
LARGE AND LIVEABLE
Both the upper and the bridge decks were already large and very liveable, but the aft overhangs of the upper and bridge decks were extended by 1.5 metres to create a more graceful profile and more shade underneath. On the bridge deck there is now room for gym equipment and two sailing dinghies that can be stowed away in a covered bay that doubles as a sunbed. The upper deck aft is set up for al fresco dining and lounging, while the top deck serves as an observation platform with a fitted BBQ-galley.
The original twin Caterpillar 3508 engines (total 2,100 hp) were thoroughly serviced and a new exhaust system fitted. With new propellers and the reconfigured hull lines aft, the yacht actually gained an extra 1.5 knots of top speed. Noise attenuation was a priority for the owner, so the brand new three Kohler generators are housed in sound-proof boxes and mounted on vibration dampers with structural reinforcements to avoid noise transmission through the hull.
The sophisticated interior design by Misa Poggi is based on contrasting dark and light wood joinery combined with saddle-stitched leather and brushed bronze accents. The overall ambience is warmly refined but casually welcoming with parchment, bamboo and woven finishes adding an exotic touch.
Guest accommodation comprises two suites on the main deck, three on lower deck and a master stateroom on the upper deck forward for a total of 12 guests including the owner. The bulwarks flanking the owner’s lounge were cut down to provide better sea views and the voids fitted with electrically-controlled louvres for extra shade or privacy when moored in the marina.
ROUND-THE-WORLD CRUISE
Masquenda was relaunched in June 2021 sporting a new light and dark grey livery just over 8 months after arriving at the Lusben facility in Livorno. She spent her first summer cruising the Mediterranean andhas now departed for the Caribbean at the start of a three-year voyage that will take her around the world.
“Masquenda is a very versatile yacht and I am definitely very happy with the final outcome,” says Pier Luigi Loro Piana. “All the design team worked very well – Nauta, Misa and Rogantin – and my life on board with my family and friends last summer was just what I had envisaged when we started out on this adventure!”

Octopus has been for almost two decades, since 1998, the year in which it was born, one of the most mysterious boats, where with this adjective it means kept secret for privacy reasons desired by the owner, by virtue of 1998, strict nondisclosure agreements were issued to protect the privacy of its original owner, the late American entrepreneur and philanthropist Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft.

The initial brief received by the owner required an industrialstyle yacht with the appearance and capability of the Finnish multipurpose icebreaker Fennica, built in 1993, which the builder and the design studio made it reality.
At that time, there was no yacht capable of non-stop circumnavigation. Octopus was launched in 2003, it was clear she had broken new ground. With diesel-electric propulsion consisting of two ABB electric motors and eight MTU 16V 4000 M50 diesel engines, she was perfectly equipped to travel anywhere in the world. In addition, all toys and tenders, including a helicopter, a submarine and a floatplane, to be carried in a concealed way. The project apted for one very long and tall compartment on the yacht’s centreline with a floodable dock flanked by rows of smaller garages to store the entire toy inventory of what became known as Project Octopus.
Octopus’s interior, came from a young American designer moved to Seattle from London where he’d worked with Jon Bannenberg.
What Barnett created for the owner can be described as a “floating laboratory”, a timeless design perfectly suited to a creative genius. The layout included a fully equipped medical centre, a storm cabin made to keep those who needed it comfortable in bad weather and a professional recording studio.
Barnett took a simple approach to the interior decor. Thanks to the vast amount of wood panelling that gives the yacht shows the warm and comfortable feeling of a home. Some walls are painted in a neutral colour while others are covered

in bee’s wing-figured eucalyptus. The walls originally held the ever-changing art gallery on each deck. What’s on the walls today are snapshots of Octopus’s adventures over the years, from the marvellous landscapes captured around Patagonian icebergs to the portraits of local tribes in Tahiti and Asia’s ancient golden temples.
An original feature that remains on the yacht to this day is an unusual timekeeping device. The clock serves as a helpful visual cue to help guests find some critical orientation. Every 15 minutes, the strings could play any kind of music.
Octopus was sent in 2019 for a refit at the Lürssen-owned Blohm+Voss shipyard, to be put in the market after Allen passed in 2018. In 2021, a new owner bought the yacht and decided to make her available for select charters. Some areas have been redesigned by Monk Design, who also replaced the recording studio.

The Coral Triangle is among the most significant reef systems on earth. While comprising only 1.6% of the planet’s oceans, it is home to over 76% of all known coral species in the world, counted 600 species of reefs. Here you may encounter with more than 2,000 species of fish, including the largest shark on earth, Whale Shark, to the smallest one like vivid Nudibranch. Also noteworthy is that 6 of the world’s 7 species of marine Turtles make this place home.

At the heart of the Coral Triangle, you will find more than 17,000 islands of the Indonesian archipelago. It has long been the marine scientists’ and avid divers’ best-kept secret of the healthiest coral reefs to explore in a time when much of world’s reefs are dying due to ocean acidification. Although most divers focus on underwater exploration, there is also a great deal to explore on the surface.

DISCOVER 65M M/Y ZAZOU
WELCOME ON BOARD 65-METRE BENETTI M/Y ZAZOU, LAUNCHED IN APRIL AND DELIVERED TO THE OWNER IN JULY LAST YEAR. HER BEAUTIFUL INTERIORS HAVE JUST BEEN REVEALED AND MADE PUBLIC AFTER THE YACHT MADE HER DEBUT AT THE MONACO YACHT SHOW 2021.
The 65-metre superyacht Zazou made her world debut at the last Monaco Yacht Show 2021. Built by the Italian shipyard Benetti, the yacht's interior, which has remained tightly under wraps until now, has been designed by Dutch studio Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. The design makes use of exotic marbles, light woods, and a soft palette of colour with hints of sky blue.
Based on the same platform as Metis, Zazou features exterior design by Giorgio M. Cassetta with an aluminium superstructure and steel hull painted in "Carinthia blue" at the request of the owner. Reflecting the owner's sporty style, Zazou stands out for its one-of-a-kind Sun Deck, the boat’s signature feature thanks to its size and concept. Accommodation is for 12 guests across six cabins, including an owner’s suite on the main deck complete with a private lounge and balcony. Aft of the main deck is a dining and relaxation space that can be transformed into a cinema.

Quite out of the ordinary for a 65-meter yacht, the Sun Deck is a unique 36-meter-long space, with a surface area of over 200 square meters devoted to relaxing, entertaining, socialising and sport. Hence the counter-current swimming pool in the bow and, further aft, a gym area fitted out with high-end professional equipment.
The space available is carefully exploited to offer a bar area, a dining area with a large table seating up to 14 guests for big get-togethers, and an aft sun pad that can be converted into a scenic open-air cinema in the evening.
This unusual choice made by an owner with a passion for life on board has resulted in Zazou's unique design, with one less deck than traditional mega yachts for even more contact with the water, and an iconic Sun Deck that acts as a private penthouse, with seamless sightlines from bow to stern and a breathtaking view of the sea.
The yacht’s timelessly elegant styling is combined with the modern design and sleek, powerful lines of the Carinthia Blue steel and aluminium hull by Giorgio M. Cassetta.
The creative design of the interiors is by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, the renowned Dutch architecture and design firm specialising in large full custom yachts, which has taken full advantage of the openness and spaciousness of the settings to offer a panoramic view from every angle and the chance to experience life at sea even in convivial company in an indoor environment.

The designer and owner worked in close synergy to customise the furnishings, resulting in a stylistic approach and detailing that marks a new beginning for custom models. Exotic marble and a selection of over 120 types of wood, plus refined leathers, fabrics and natural materials with a variety of textures are cleverly combined to create sophisticated but comfortable interior settings.
Muted colours with sky blue accents, contrasting finishes and original details reveal the yacht’s special features and the care lavished by the owner on creating a welcoming atmosphere.
The sky lounge on the Upper Deck is perfectly integrated into the exterior spaces in the stern, all furnished with custom pieces. Inside, on the same deck, a massage room that can be converted into a double cabin precedes the spacious, modern wheelhouse with integrated Furuno dashboard, the ship office next to it and, on the port side, the captain’s cabin and a pantry.

Aft on the Main Deck is an open area set aside for conversation and relaxation. In the interiors, amidships, the big, light-filled day area is decorated with pale colours and can be transformed into a hitech screening room.
Still on the Main Deck, the owner’s suite consists of a lounge with a TV, a double wardrobe, a large bed with a second TV and, on the port side, a generous bathroom with shower plus a private balcony reached through a sliding door.
The extensive beach area on the Lower Deck boasts two exterior openings: one in the stern providing access to the swim platform and another on the port side of the yacht that becomes a second space at the water’s edge. In the beach club interiors, a lounge area with low table, sofa and armchair is joined by a closed space in which to store the water toys.
The night area amidships provides three double cabins and one guest cabin. Also on this deck, but in a separate area, is the modern galley, while the quarters for the 14 crew members are forward in the bow.

With the 100 Sunreef Power using an ultramodern, energysaving air-conditioning system, the yacht is able to provide air-conditioning throughout the whole night without using the generators.
