Monday to Thursday business meetings in PHOENIX2, on Friday a 6-hour executive board meeting at the company’s GLOBAL HQ, and next week the same again, jetting from one meeting to the next – always AVANTI , AVANTI! And then finally:

Vacations with my family. A week off, just us: my wife VALERIE and our kids. What a contrast, what an OASIS of peace. Our son RONIN , an ACE in sports, in the CORAL OCEAN all day long – wind-surfing, wakeboarding, kitesurfing. Our daughters AMADEA and TITANIA enjoying their school holidays on board the spacious yacht, too. My wife and I, swimming in the main deck’s infinity pool, and later indulging in A+ quality dinning. In the evenings, we’d go down to the cinema to watch movies, or we’d sit on deck, looking into the star-lit sky over the PACIFIC , just to wake up the next morning, pampered by the RISING SUN ’s first warm beams. Tell you what – the opportunities to recharge the batteries were simply LIMITLESS !

The Flowers of Evil

The beauty of Reka Nyari's work published on the cover embodies many meanings, beyond that attributed by the artist. Mystery, femininity, darkness, elegance, nature... Provocative and disruptive, lyrical, poetic, surreal: absolutely modern, with a romantic and vaguely grim soul.

The title we have chosen for this issue is inspired by Nyari's work: Les Fleurs Du Mal. Baudelaire's Cursed Poet, mystic, metaphysical, theological and erotic, is characterized by qualities and distinctive features that can all be traced back to creativity in the superyacht sector.

First the art on board, which brings with it all the power of the soul and the contradictions of our society, the new digital trends that with NFTs have rekindled the meaning of "surreal", the enchantment of the interiors and finishes that make magical and at the same time metaphysical every environment and then all the constructions and projects of the last period which are the result of rationality, feeling, emotions... brilliant minds, genius.

As always, the issue is rounded off by travel: travel has always meant exploring the world and the self. Why is man a traveller? Because travel is discovery, knowledge and the quest for happiness, a central theme in Baudelaire's poetics as a metaphor for life...

INK STORIES: TATOOS TELL STORIES AND OFFER RESPONSE TO PAIN

Living and working in New York City, Reka Nyari’s practice spans from fine art photography and videography, to elaborate installation and performance pieces. Oscillating between mischievous eroticism and wistful splendor, her work employs and explores traditional ideals of beauty and gender to portray sexuality from a predominantly female perspective.

Nyari’s images of nude figures are not strictly intended as alluring portraits – while deriving their emotional charge from the familiar motifs of erotic photography, they expand the pictorial vocabulary to the realm of narratives, layering in personal histories and fictitious content. Unapologetically, Nyari embeds luscious and empowered bodies in luminous landscapes or against staged backdrops. Nudity, gesture, gaze, as well as objects, become intrinsically linked to the feminine identity.

Born in 1979 in Helsinki, and raised in Finland and Hungary, Nyari came to New York City at the age of seventeen. After studying at The School of Visual Arts, she started modeling and discovered her interest in photography. The cinematography and eccentric narratives of Roman Polanski and David Lynch influence her work as much as the art of Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, Miles Aldridge, and Cindy Sherman.

Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in the United States and Europe. She has received awards from

prestigious organizations, including first place Winner of International Photography Awards (IPA in 2010 and 2022). Her 225-page Monograph titled “Femme Fatale: Female Erotic Photography” is published in 6 languages and sold out worldwide.

Her NFT auction at Art Basel Miami 2021 raised $200,000 for charity, and was featured in the New York Times. She is a SuperRare represented artist (superrare. com). Her work was featured at the 1st NFT museum exhibition in Milan at DART Dynamic Art Museum in Nov 2021-Feb 2022.

“I have always been fascinated with the art of tattooing. Although there isn’t any ink on my own skin, I have always been entranced by the idea of covering my body in designs. I first visited a tattoo artist at the tender age of sixteen when I picked a tribal design for my upper arm and made an appointment with an incognito artist the very next day. My mother, who is a quick-witted

woman, got a whiff of it that same night. She promised that if I still wanted that same tattoo when I turned 18, she would not only accompany me to the parlor but also generously pay for it. A few weeks after that fateful evening my inclinations changed. I now desired a large lion (my star sign, nonetheless) leaping across both of my buttocks onto my lower posterior.

The lion changed into a dragon, the dragon into a tiger, the tiger into elaborate daggers that ran down my arms until just before my 18th birthday I realized that I really did not know what I wanted permanently tattooed onto my unmarked young body.

Today, though my body has slightly matured, these feelings remain. Maybe the fact that I never actually took the plunge myself has made tattoos more fascinating to me. I live vicariously through the amazing women I photograph. A tattooed body can literally become a storybook of one’s life, with all its beauty, flaws, and imperfections. The markings are not aberrations but desired manifestations of existence and experience. This brings to mind the centuries-old Japanese tradition of 'Kintsukuroi', the art of mending broken ceramics with gold. Cracks, lines, and scars make us more beautiful, interesting and desirable. The quote from Rumi, 'the wound is the place where the Light enters you', often comes to mind. As an artist, I tell stories with my images. I feel that combining the autobiographical art of tattoos with the expressivity of a nude body is the most compelling way to bring out a person's colorful, unapologetic past in the most visually relevant way possible”.

The works here published, as well as the one on the cover, are part of the series BLOOMING INK and PUNCTURED INK.

Taking shape as a blooming, gigantic flower, Charlotte, in BLOOMING INK , has faced extreme shyness and social anxiety for her entire life, causing her to withdraw and keep mostly to herself. Fascinated by the beauty of tattoos, she had the idea of covering her entire body in ink. Her bodysuit is a complete piece of art, designed by a tattoo artist in London to cover her whole body in intricate patterns, executed in about a year of hard-core needling and pain. Her tattoos changed her life: through the drawings on her body, she became the person she was always meant to be; an outspoken, artistic, and outgoing young woman. As her skin changed, so did her personality, and her life. “Through her tattoos, she bloomed into existence and became the exuberant flower she was always meant to me”.

The newest series PUNCTURED INK , displays the healing power of nature and the connection to the human body and soul. “With this series, I started perforating botanical-like references into the surface of each image (thus making each piece unique). I was inspired by a long history of tribal scarification which signified a right of passage, permitting the individual to transcend their past traumas and transform their evolved selves. The botanic shapes, ferns, and flowers are influenced by the wild landscape of the Vietnamese jungle, and by the belief that nature truly is our most important teacher and healer. I hope you are all inspired by these women; their strength, resilience, beauty, and rebellious spirit”. ∎

Born in Chicago in 1977, Rashid Johnson is an influential contemporary American artist whose work employs a wide range of media to explore themes of art history, individual and shared cultural identities, personal narratives, literature, philosophy, materiality and critical history. After studying photography at the Art Institute of Chicago, Johnson’s practice quickly expanded to a wide range of media (sculpture, painting, drawing, filmmaking and installation), yielding a complex multidisciplinary practice that incorporates diverse materials rich with symbolism and personal history. Johnson’s work is known for its narrative embedding of a pointed range of everyday materials and objects, often associated with his childhood and frequently referencing collective aspects of African American intellectual history and cultural identity. To date, Johnson has incorporated elements / materials / items as diverse as CB radios, shea butter, literature, record covers, gilded rocks, black soap and tropical plants.

Many of Johnson’s works convey rhythms of the occult and mystic: evoking his desire to transform and expand each included object’s field of association in the process of reception.

The two works published here were part of Rashid Johnson's first solo exhibition in Spain (Sodade, 19 Jun - 13 Nov 2022, by Hauser & Wirth), for which the artist continued to work with a complex range of iconographies to explore collective and historical expressions of longing and displacement, while speaking to the times we live in.

Sodade is the title of a Cape Verdean song from 1950s, popularized by Cesária Évora, that narrates a profound emotional state of longing on ‘the long way’ to São Tomé. Originating in the Portuguese ‘saudade,’ the term signifies a feeling of melancholy and missing, and becomes hybridized in the Cape Verdean use with a shift in the spelling.

In Sodade, Johnson continues to draw from critical history and narratives around migration and journeys, with a similar gesture of hybridization.

Capturing both subjective and collective historical states in real time, the artist has pivoted the Anxious Red paintings iconography, which portrayed crowds of bright red faces, to Bruise Paintings and Surrender Paintings in hues of blues and whites. Johnson selects his typical materials and tools - such as shea butter and black soap - for the importance of their historical narratives. Here he has chosen to use the canonically significant, and universally recognizable, medium of oil paint in order to communicate his message all the more urgently.

Born in Washington in 1964, American post-conceptual artist Rob Pruitt was part, together with his colleague Jack Early, of the Pruitt Early duo until the 1990s. After a controversial exhibition, their partnership disintegrated and Pruitt started working alone. His production, primarily painting, installation, and sculpture, is influenced by an interest in popular and mass culture. His work can take many forms and has not a single style or medium: his multidisciplinary practice embraces an incisive, playful aesthetic that combines formal rigor with pop culture references and tongue-in-cheek commentary on the art world.

Pruitt always finds new strategies to invite and involvee his public: with the exhibition 101 Art Ideas You Can Do Yourself (1999), Pruitt went beyond the twodimensionality of painting, artist-artwork, actively involving the viewer in the creative act.

Pruitt’s varied projects include an eBay Flea Market benefiting various charities, painting President Obama daily over his 8-year presidency culminating in 2,922 unique paintings, and Instagramming a daily calendar of personal and public events.

But Pruitt is known in particular for his Panda series, made in many versions using different techniques, which addresses issues of climate change and global responsibility while encouraging everyday activism. In 2001 Pruitt showed the first of the glittery panda paintings that would become his trademark. Pruitt has of the same subject matter. “I see it as a kind of corporate damage control, like trying to market Perrier after they found benzene in it, or Firestone tires after they exploded. I was a reviled figure, but everybody loves a panda”.

The colored “Faces” series, reminiscent of emoji, shows distinct emotions or personalities. Pruitt began making Face paintings in 2010, with the idea to convey

human emotion using the most reductive, minimalist means possible. The Face paintings spring directly from the artists mind and hand, with no reliance on found imagery. What is important to Pruitt is to convey distinct personality and emotion, not familiar, caricatured identity. No two Face paintings are the same size, and they are all titled with names, adding further to their individuality.

Pruitt has exhibited all over the world, and was included in exhibitions at numerous institutions, including Kunsthalle Zürich, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, and Tate Modern.

TOMOKAZU MATSUYAMA

Born in Japan in 1976, Tomokazu Matsuyama, a first-generation Japanese American who lives and works in New York (where he received his MFA in Communications Design from the Pratt Institute) has developed a singular aesthetic grounded in an elegant expression of what he refers to as “the struggle of reckoning the familiar local with the familiar global”. As a bi-cultural visual artist, he is keenly aware of the nomadic diaspora, a community of wandering people who seek to understand their place in a world full of contrasting visual and cultural dialects. Though he manages a dynamic, wide ranging, and truly global practice, Matsuyama notably remains dedicated to furthering the most personal and intimate aspects of his aesthetic evolution. Matsuyama’s works feature amalgams of references, including figures borrowed from fashion magazines; clothing reminiscent of historic Japanese garments; backgrounds evocative of Shogun-era screens and panels; curved canvases that simultaneously recollect mid-century Modernist Minimalism and the far more ancient history of shaped tea platters; and elements such as a junkyard tire and a bag of potato chips that situate the images

Easy My Mind Later (2022)

This painting embodies the artist’s intercultural and intertemporal aesthetic vision, which blends visual references from around the globe and throughout time. The two figures - borrowed from the pages of a fashion magazine and rendered without noses to convey a sense of anonymity and ubiquity - pass each other in a mystical, floral landscape. The background of this so-called natural world is wallpapered with a Baroque style typical of open source patterns available on the internet. The impossible forest is inhabited by flora and fauna native to various locales. One figure carries a Rite Aid bag; the other carries a Target bag; while a third plastic bag sits orphaned on the ground. Matsuyama brings this wide universe of references creating an image that is intercultural and transnational, referencing history, and yet unmistakably contemporary, inviting as many people in as possible.

starkly in the present age, and spotlight popular culture as embodied by mass-produced commodities. By raising questions of national and individual identity through the formal qualities and subject matter of his paintings, Matsuyama examines the “natural chaos” of our social environments and challenges viewers to confront their own conceptions of cultural homogeneity.

Matsuyama’s works are in the permanent collections all over the world and just as equally global are also his exhibitions and large-scale public displays.

This painting shows a lone figure resting on the rear bumper of a classic Mercedes that is parked outside in a flora and fauna filled eden. Beside the car we see a junked tire with a rusted rim, playing off the gleam of the shiny chrome rim of the Mercedes. A "Jesus fish" stuck to the side of the car juxtaposes the pride flag discarded on the ground. The figure themself conveys a genderless, or multi-gendered, countenance. In the patterns on the car, the clothes, and in the trees, we see references to a menagerie of Eastern and Western aesthetic influences, embodying Matsuyama’s interest in intercultural exchange.

THE FORM OF HER WORK IS DYNAMIC AND MULTIDIMENSIONAL: THE KOREAN ARTIST DYES EACH SHEET OF PAPER BY HAND WITH THOUSANDS OF DIFFERENT COLOURS CUTTING AND ROLLING THE LAYERS OF PAPER TO MAKE THEM RIGID. IT GIVES KIM AN EMOTIONAL BONDING TO EVERY SINGLE UNIVERSE. NOT A SINGLE UNIVERSE HAS THE SAME SHAPE, LOOK OR COLOUR IN HER WORK.

Born in South Korea in 1967, Ilhwa Kim creates works that are composed of tens of thousands of seed units. Each seed unit has a combination of straight lines and circles, which compose a tiny single universe. The materials are created personally for every single universe. The tactile universe pushes away the distinction between sculpture and painting; tenderly relaxed conversation goes on ceaselessly between the sculptural weight and tactile painting quality. The universe transforms dramatically from afar to close up. The sense of completion never comes as each perception betrays the previous one from moments before. Kim’s universes are free from an optimum point of view. Taking a look at the work closely, you can witness the seeds lodged tightly in the surface, pushing and pulling themselves to sprout. However, the moment you watch it from a distance, the work transforms into waves lashing out from the confines of the work. “The changes happening in diverse angles and distances relates more to how the work can embrace all of the change happening over time”, explains the artist.

Acquired by museums, some of Kim’s selected solo shows took place in Seoul, USA, Singapore and Mayfair, London.

NEMO JANTZEN

NEMO’S HYPER-REALIST NARRATIVE PAINTINGS AND HIS MIXED MEDIA WORK EVOKE THE ICONIC IMAGES EMBEDDED IN THE COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS, ILLUSTRATING THE OVERLAP BETWEEN OUR MEMORIES OF IMAGES FROM CONTEMPORARY CINEMA AND OUR REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCES.

Born and raised in The Hague, after his study of art, design and photography at the RTO in Rotterdam he moved to Antwerp, working as a Creative Director and billboard artist while further developing his technique and style as a fine artist. After several years in Belgium, and a year travelling through Asia and the Middle East, he settled down in Spain, dedicating his career to the making and selling of fine art, mentoring other emerging artists, and consistently exhibiting to high acclaim. From his studios in New York and Bali, he stays abreast of the ever-changing contemporary art scene in the Big Apple, whilst letting his imagination and his passion for the ocean run free in the land of the gods.

His work has consistently explored the dialogue of narrative tropes in an image soaked contemporary environment. Early works found pop-inspired imagery creating new contexts from photo-journalism and advertising, with highly detailed enlarged objects placed out of their natural environment. Successive shows moved on to use cinematic stills as the source of a visual collective consciousness. 'Hyper-realistic' work takes the dialogue to the next level by incorporating the cinematography language and the expediency of digital photography as an inspiration for the new paintings.

Jantzen has since shown and sold his work in galleries throughout Europe and the United States and has been presented at numerous international art fairs in London, Amsterdam, Singapore, New York, and Miami, and his work can be found in many private and public collections around the world.

Lyès’ work, named 'Source', shows the energy and the natural forces present in all people, all places, all times and all materials. The artist portrays the celebration of life using wall sculptures and installations, with a prediction for monumental artworks. His celestial inspiration invites people to connect to their 'Source' through a sensorial art experience. Steeped in spirituality associated with mindfulness, Lyès’ wall sculptures are abstract tools that captivate viewers through colour and help facilitate a heightened level of consciousness.

Lyès’ larger artistic practice offers a calm, optimistic counterbalance to sadness and routine. His sculptures invite viewers to pause, think and appreciate the present moment and the positive energy surrounding us all. Full of energy, Lyès' work celebrates the breath of life, spreads joy and serenity.

Lyès discovered graffiti at the age of 11 on the streets of Lyon, France. In 1989, graffiti was a new kind of art: sophisticated, almost surrealistic, and linked to hiphop and music. In the dining area, the centrepiece is the new Baobab table, which takes us to the heart of the savannah with its original design inspired by the typical majestic and imposing African tree.

In this spectacular piece of furniture, the bold structure is lightened by cylindrical, tubular elements, which spread out branch-like in a radial pattern. The extensive table top made up of five irregularly shaped marble elements is reminiscent of a tree canopy filled with lush palm-shaped leaves, while the base in calendered cylindrical iron tubes reminds of the trunk. A sculptural table full of meanings for a scenographic dining room.

The spectacular and fascinating Elgon bed stands in the centre of the bedroom area: it is characterized by a large headboard, the workmanship of which is inspired by the Kintsugi technique, the ancient Japanese art of giving new life to fragments of broken objects, enhancing the ribs created. The refined decorations recall at the same time the typical animalier patterns of the Cavalli world.

On the right side of the bed, we find a design table (Sahara) with pure and essential lines. Extremely versatile, it is available in a variety of shapes and finishings. On the opposite side, the night table (Trinidad) with structure in multilayer wood covered in leather from the collection.

Founded 50 years ago, Pinto continues to reinvent itself today under the impetus of its new owner and Co-Artistic Director Fahad Hariri, alongside Pietro Scaglione. The latest project to be unveiled by Pinto is a special collaboration with Italian designer, Stefano Pilati, known for his work in creative direction for some of the most celebrated fashion Houses including

Cerruti, Armani, Prada, Zegna and Yves Saint Laurent, and for his exceptional skill in crossing the bridges between design, merchandising, marketing, and influencing global fashion through timeless design. The collaboration naturally started when Hariri discovered Pilati’s experimental approach of lush furnishings through seemingly effortless stylized actions or «gestures», such as casual draping, or the thrown-over effect of straw and waterhyacinth rugs, across sofas and rattan armchairs in his own home in Southern Italy.

Begun with an over sized sofa, the capsule collection includes a second piece created from a circular woven water hyacinth rug over a rattan armchair. As a play on dimensions, Pilati and Hariri envisaged for this one, an expansively sized rug to dress the armchair, resulting in a very stylized silhouette. Hariri further interpreted this stylistic expression through a livable piece of art turning the perishable perfect «gesture» of Pilati into an everlasting bronze sculpture. Cersaie 2022 brought optimum results in turnout and international participation, getting close to the numbers of the editions pre-pandemic. This year SICIS decided to present itself without frills, giving more space to the products, shown on

walls dedicated to colour boards and wide LED screens, showing tutorials for the application and working of materials and inspirational images of the completed projects. The two coating solution, mosaic and vetrite, were exhibited in a clear division of spaces. Over the years glass mosaic collections gained their place in the interior world thanks to their unusual characteristics, but there was no shortage of marble mosaic collections, a milestone of SICIS production with which the company made its debut over 30 years ago.

Coming to Vetrite, large laminated glass slabs in 120x280cm format, we find the most recent collections, Gem Glass and Sight - the latter created in collaboration with Studio Marco Piva last year - and for the first time the Onigem collection, presented in absolute preview at the Salone del Mobile 2022. 15 slabs inspired by the limestone onyx's fascinating motifs, in various hues going from natural ones to other brighter and surprising.

MATTE TONES FOR UNIQUE INTERIORS

The new ceramics collections presented by Spanish global leader and manufacturer Porcelanosa, are inspired by marble and natural stones such as coral. At this year's Cersaie, the company presented Coral, New York and Empire, three series of tiles for floor and wall where the company reflected single-colour designs and matte finishes, having hardness and resistance as the main qualities.

For larger projects, Highker is the large-format premium ceramic to be used as flooring in interior or exterior spaces and available with its three finishes: stone, cement and polished. Each collection enhances the brightness of spaces and brings focus to each of its main parts. The 26 collections have simple and neutral tones that match any interior design. Grey, sand or white allow endless decorative combinations.

Moran Yacht & Ship supervised the build on behalf of the owner with whom they have a longstanding relationship.

“For Lürssen, the task was to build a motor yacht for a repeat client, an upgrade from his 86-metre Lürssen, who had many years of owning and chartering different types of yachts behind him”, says Peter Lürssen. “He required top-notch design and engineering as well as seagoing comfort for his family, guests and crew. The launch of Ahpo is testament to the excellent team of builders, designers and engineers we have at Lürssen and the strong relationship with the client. Lürssen prides itself on meeting challenges and this one was no different!”

The early brief for the interior was to link all the elements of nature, harmoniously balanced throughout

the yacht with a clear drive towards rich over opulent. The 205-metre square wellness area on the lower deck is a fitting first place that many that will step aboard into.

A large bamboo grove encased in backlit frosted glass forms a stunning backdrop to a stylish bar on one side and a luxurious massage room on the other. In contrast to this zen atmosphere is an explosion of coloured mosaic tiles which make up the hammam and day head as well as the Jacuzzi and plunge pool. Further forward is a luxurious 12-seater cinema and just down the hall is one of the yacht’s most pleasantly surprising areas: a glass walkway through the engine room. This futuristic addition allows the owners and guests to view the impressive engines and mechanical spaces from above whenever they like.

On the main deck a large conference room boasts as its centrepiece a beautiful custom table with an antique map of Jamaica engraved in bronze and surrounded by deep blue resin, sitting underneath an eye-catching crystal chandelier. Sliding doors open to reveal the main salon, an elegant, formal space with a self-playing Steinway piano. Further forward, another set of doors open up into the formal dining room. Having these three distinct yet connected areas together on the same deck means that as well as somewhere to relax and unwind, Ahpo is also a functional working environment and crucially one where business and pleasure can co-exist without crossing paths.

The centre of the yacht is dominated by a grand staircase, accessible at all guest levels. The staircase itself represents a path and depicts an olive tree that grows up to the sky, surrounded by cranes. A striking

crystal sculpture hangs from the ceiling, composed of falling feathers, each built by hand.

The accent marbles change on each deck, acting as a subtle map of Blu Onyx, Green J’adore and Grey Lilac, with the floor always Calacatta Borghini with White Onyx for the petals, complemented by a bronze balustrade.

The owner’s deck takes on a different theme to the formality of the deck below. The informal salon is contemporary and convivial, with a colourful interpretation of the universe in the carpet and a striking latticed wood pattern running throughout.

On the aft deck, an enormous custom 16-seater dining table stands proud within a winter garden that can be completely open or closed to the elements thanks to a complex set of sliding and folding glass doors.

On the upper deck is the 8-metre-long swimming pool, which also boasts a counter-current system. There is a self-contained Jacuzzi on one side of the pool, with large sun pad seating flanking the other side. A large bar and relaxed low-level seating make this area a clear favourite for informal family days.

Also on this deck is the large gym with multiple machines and pieces of equipment and stunning views out over the water on both sides.

On the bridge deck, the aft deck has been left unencumbered, making it a completely flexible area. Open to the sun, it can also be protected by removable fabric shades. Moveable furniture and sun loungers fill the space or it can be left open as both a sunrise yoga platform and midnight dance floor, making Ahpo a one stop shop for the perfect day in paradise.

Forward on this deck is the bridge: unusual to have this high up, it provides the crew with unparalleled views for manoeuvring the 115-metre-long, 18-metre-wide yacht. Designed more like a guest space than a traditional crew area with premium woods and leathers, it is smart and high tech. The unique location also means the ship’s office and captain’s cabin can be together and away from the guest areas, and enables perhaps Ahpo’s most standout, innovative feature: the duplex owner’s apartment on the decks below.

The owner’s apartment is made up of a large 245sqm master cabin on the owner’s deck and a 95sqm panoramic salon on the upper deck, joined together by a private interior staircase.

The owner’s cabin is spacious yet cosy, providing ample privacy from the outside world. The deck space for this room is similarly private: a semi-circle sofa and coffee table face out to sea on recessed balconies on each side, cocooned into a quiet corner thanks to glass bulwarks.

On the inside, his-and-hers bathrooms and dressing rooms boast ornate mosaic patterns and bold marbles. His bathroom and dressing room is a combination of honey onyx and black Portoro marble with a stunning mosaic wall in the shower inspired by Klimt paintings.

In her bathroom and dressing room, the main colour is pink with a cherry tree theme with elegant blossoms and birds. In both bathrooms, there are two impressive freestanding tubs and custom crystal chandeliers, and a focus on Venetian glass from Murano including furniture decorated with a cast glass frame.

The panoramic salon enjoys 180-degree views over the bow. Two custom desks flank each end of the room, turning the space into a private office if so desired, away from the master cabin.

“The owners are extremely happy with this solution, it suits their lifestyle very well,” says Carlo Nuvolari. “It was an unusual design idea to have a duplex space but they are very happy with the outcome”.

The salon has access to the foredeck and helicopter pad, which is positioned halfway between the owner’s and upper decks. There is a forward dining and lounging area that is inset and raised slightly above the bow, ensuring better views and protection than tradition layouts, and meaning any guests arriving by helicopter do not see through into the master cabin.

Aside from the master cabin there are seven guest cabins on board, with two on the owner’s deck, four on the main deck and one on the lower deck. The two cabins on the owner’s deck are designated for specific family members and enjoy their own colour themes of pink and green, chosen by the family to distinguish the two. Gingko leaves make up the main inspiration behind the design in these two cabins with both enjoying the same roll top style baths as in the master cabin bathrooms. The large cabins on the main deck are similarly appointed and enjoy the view from the iconic semi-circle windows.

The crew areas on board are spacious and well-designed, a key request from the owner. There are 37 crew on board Ahpo and the crew spaces have been designed to give maximum privacy, including a large crew mess, a separate crew lounge and a private crew gym. There is also a hospital room down in the tank deck.

In the engine room, twin MTU 20V 4000 M73 engines propel the yacht to speeds of 18 knots and for up to 7,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Efficiency and the desire to be as green as possible was a big drive behind the engineering: the yacht is equipped with a state-of-the-art exhaust after-treatment system that reduces nitrogen oxide levels and generates less noise and vibration.

Similarly, every diesel generating set is equipped with an additional heat exchanger, which is used to heat up an extra heat cycle connecting the pool, Jacuzzi and service water systems. This helps to reduce any thermal energy loss by repurposing it and reduces the need for electric heating systems elsewhere on board. ∎

In May 2022, the historic shipyard based in Viareggio saw the launch of its Codecasa 43, Construction F77, christened M/Y Boji. As with most of the other ceremonies, this boat too was launched privately at the construction site of the Codecasa Shipyards in Viareggio (Darsena). The shipyard, which then shared a video to enrich the narration of this important moment for the shipyard, spoke of an emotional ceremony attended by the owner's family and all the people who contributed to the creation of this jewel, which the shipyard is particularly proud of.

In particular, the shipyard addressed a personal thanks, as well as to its employees and suppliers, also to the Surveyor of the owner George Tsokris of Navinco, to the Captain Petros Vranas and his crew, to the brokerage agency Torrance Yachts, represented by Tassos Papantoniou .

With a history that has its first roots in the early 1800s, last October 2022 the Codecasa shipyard had the privilege of seeing Cavalier Fulvio Codecasa, patron of the Codecasa Shipyards, awarded with the Laurea Honoris Causa, acknowledging his merits for the important and incisive entrepreneurial work carried out in the international yachting history.

The ceremony took place at the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio and, in collaboration with Fondazione ISYL and Navigo, the Degree was conferred by Prof. Maurits van Rooijen, President of the Academic Senate/Strategic Team of Gioya (Higher Education Institution) of Malta, by Eng. Vincenzo Poerio (President of the Tuscan Nautical and Ports Technology district), with the attendance of a delegation of Malta led by the Minister Clifton Grima.

The CODECASA 43 M/Y Boji is a 43-metre displacement, totally custom yacht with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure designed by the Codecasa technical team.

The yacht has its typical vertical bow and is characterized by large windows that allow natural light to filter inside, giving the outside a refined and captivating appearance. With its clean and rigorous profile, in line with the shipyard's style, this yacht offers high quality and technical standards.

From an engine point of view, the yacht is equipped with 2 Caterpillar 3512C engines (1,650 HP at 1,800 rpm), is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 16.5 knots at light displacement, offering a range of 4,000 nautical miles at speed of 11 knots. M/Y Boji ensures comfortable and safe navigation in all marine weather conditions; the internal volumes are just under 500 GRT, the large external spaces with a sober and elegant line have been

designed to ensure maximum livability and privacy in all environments; consumption is reasonable in the face of very high quality standards.

M/Y Boji set sail from the Codecasa Shipyards last July to embark on her first voyage with the owners, to the Mediterranean Sea. Delivery took place on schedule to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

But let's take a closer look at this beauty, exploring all the spaces and details on board. As these photos show, this elegant yacht offers owners and guests large spaces available both outside and inside. The choice of the furnishings and their color palette with neutral shades, help reinforce the feeling of comfort and hospitality. Each room is cozy and bright thanks to the large windows that let you enjoy the sea view at any time of the day.

On the external decks the several living areas allow moments of privacy even when the yacht is at anchor. For special moments of relaxation, there is no better location than the sundeck. This is in fact a crucial space for life on board, away from the common passages, it is the place where you can best enjoy your holiday in total privacy. Proof of this aspect is the elegant as well as large lounge, partly covered, enriched by a beautiful swimming pool, also studied from a design point of view, positioned at the bow. Recessed into the floor and accessible by means of two steps which give importance to the bow area, it is furnished with a sunbathing area, which can also be used as a comfortable lounge area for cocktails at sunset. The spacious sundeck also furnished in the stern area with sunbathing seats lends itself very well to receiving guests and organizing evenings after dinner.

Equally spacious and free from superfluous external furnishings are the other two external decks, both to be

enjoyed in the stern area. The upper deck with dining area and the main deck with sofas and relaxation area. At the bow of the upper deck, a comfortable sofa and sunbathing area awaits the owner and his guests for unforgettable moments to dedicate to the beauty of the panorama.

The interiors are very refined and classy, while remaining sober and simple: the interior design is particularly representative of the marine atmosphere, light tones mostly played on white, with some gray and beige accents. The atmosphere is calm, tranquil and relaxed and seems to express exactly what one expects from a holiday. In fact, on board Boji, luxury is not expressed through objects, decorations or rich materials, but through the pleasure that is savored simply by being on board. Luxury is being on the sea, everything else is unnecessary. ∎

At the Baglietto's traditional press conference during the Monaco Yacht Show, the Italian shipyard unveiled something special: it is the latest modern, contemporary 60-metre project, named T60, the brand's new top-of-the-range yacht penned by Francesco Paszkowski Design.

60 METRES LONG AND WEIGHING AROUND 1,000 GT, THE T60 IS THE NATURAL EVOLUTION OF THE INCREDIBLY SUCCESSFUL T52, FOR WHICH THE SHIPYARD HAS ALREADY SECURED 7 ORDERS WITHOUT HAVING EVEN LAUNCHED THE FIRST HULL YET

On this vessel, the soft exterior lines of her predecessor have become even sleeker thanks to the lighter side buttresses that almost seem to be “ hanging ” on the water, blending in with the outer ceiling, while the black glass stripe incorporating the portholes - a leitmotiv on Baglietto's most recent yachts - results in an even more streamlined profile.

The layout is brand-new and overturns the longestablished rules that juxtapose sea and land, interiors and exteriors, formal and informal, day areas and night areas.

There are no enclosed spaces on this yacht: the floor-toceiling windows of both the main salon and the upper deck open up completely and, once fully concealed, create new, ever-changing environments that harmonise with the surrounding landscape.

The same informal areas that during the day allow to spend time outdoors and enjoy the sea to the fullest are easily converted to take on a more formal and stately ambience in the evening, always maintaining a direct contact with the sea.

On this innovative vessel, the beach area, the main salon and the dining area have been thought out as one single free-flowing space: a 60 sqm beach lounge - featuring a swimming pool, a bar and a conversation areawelcomes guests on board and leads them to the main salon, which can be completely opened, via an elegant staircase. The resulting space is an almost 100 sqm space developing on two levels plus the dining room, also fitted with glazed surfaces that can be fully opened to create an extraordinary living area on the water, where guests can relax both during the day and in the evening.

The Owner has at his complete disposal a real suite on the main deck, accessed from a lobby located amidships, where a glass lift can also be found. This master stateroom features an en-suite night area, a private lounge and a fixed balcony that can be enjoyed at best even while cruising. The shipyard also proposes an alternative configuration, with the entire upper deck transformed into Owner’s Deck.

Guests will find accommodation in four - 2 VIP and 2 guest - cabins located on the lower deck.

Forward on the same deck are also the crew quarters, sleeping 11 crew members in 6 cabins, while the captain's cabin is on the upper deck, behind the wheelhouse. The entire under-lower deck houses the various technical areas: the storage room, wine cellar, baggage compartment and cold rooms.

On the upper deck are a lounge area and a dining area - also fully convertible thanks to windows that open up completely on 3 sides - as well as a hot tub and a sunbathing area. At the bow, a touch-and-go helipad.

THE SUNDECK, WHICH OVER THE YEARS HAS BECOME THE HALLMARK OF BAGLIETTO YACHTS, EXTENDS OVER AN UNMATCHED 165 SQM TERRACE OFFERING A 360° SEA VIEW

This deck is the perfect place to spend pleasant convivial moments outdoors thanks to the dining table and the bar located amidships, sheltered by the radar mast, a forward lounge area, and a huge aft pool for parties, celebrations, or simply a special day.

The garage, which can fit a 23" tender, 2 jet skis and a rescue tender, has been arranged forward on the main

deck, while a haute-cuisine kitchen can be found in the central part of the vessel.

The T60 is equipped with two CAT C32 ACERT engines that will push her to a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots and is pre-fitted for hybrid propulsion, available upon request.

At the last boat shows in the French Riviera, legendary boat builders Cantieri Baglietto showcased their latest "creations on blue". More specifically, the Cannes Yachting Festival was the stage for the world premiere of Rush, the 42-metre superfast custom yacht pencilled by Francesco Paszkowski and interiors designed in cooperation with Margherita Casprini . With this new aluminium yacht, Baglietto goes back to its origins, rediscovering and relaunching its iconic planing line.

The DNA of Baglietto's latest creation is enshrined in the name the Owner chose for her, Rush, as a celebration of speed, high performance, and power. These are undoubtedly the core features of this yacht: slender lines and a modern, aggressive look, further enhanced by the dark grey shade of the hull and the extensive use of glazed surfaces on several levels, the final effect being that of a very contemporary exterior style.

The highly performing, brand-new hull, designed by Plana Design, can reach a remarkable maximum speed of 28 knots thanks to three MTU 16V 2000 M96 L engines with 2 traditional shaft line external drives and a VOITH linear jet central drive.

The limited draught of 2.10 metre allows to easily and comfortably cruise even in very shallow waters.

The stern, too, offers innovative design solutions, with the transom door opening downwards to create a pleasant swimming platform on the sea, while a side door makes hauling the tender fast and easy.

Impressive volumes characterise this vessel. Inside, the layout is traditional, with the full-beam master cabin located forward on the main deck, fitted with a large ensuite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. A conversation area welcomes guests as they board the yacht on this deck, where the dining area and the galley can also be found. The night area on the lower deck includes four guest cabins: 2 double VIP and 2 twin cabins. The crew area is located at the bow, with the Captain's cabin.

The wheelhouse on the upper deck is directly connected to the large sky lounge, where guests will be able to enjoy a conversation area and a cinema room. Moving towards the stern, the sunbathing area can be reached, furnished with loungers and seats. Another sunbathing area is available at the bow, also on this deck.

At the Genoa Boat Show, the spotlight was instead on Bertram yachts, the historic US brand of sport fisherman yachts, owned by the Gavio family and part of the Baglietto Group since 2015. The brand recently landed in Europe with a new division operating at Baglietto's site in Marina di Carrara for the construction of Bertram yachts and their sale in Italy and in Europe.

Recognised all over the world as an unmistakable icon of luxury, elegance and unparalleled Italian technological excellence, the seagull brand amazed the many visitors at the Monaco Yacht Show with another magnificent "villa on blue": Baglietto presented as world premiere Enterprise, a 38-metre custom project with the exteriors designed by Paszkowski Design and interiors crafted jointly by WLW Design and Baglietto's design team.

FOR THIS HIGHLY INNOVATIVE PROJECT BAGLIETTO DEVELOPED A BRAND-NEW PLATFORM

Launched last June in La Spezia, this brand new yacht, together with Rush and Attitude, the first unit in the DOM133 series, represents an incredibly lively time for the yard, that launched and delivered perfectly on schedule its new creations. As explained the yard, this aspect implied a considerable effort and also highlighted the great organisation potential of the company. As Baglietto Chief Commercial Officer Fabio Ermetto specified, “I want to particularly emphasize this, the quality of its team, without whom such outstanding results wouldn't have been achievable”. In particular, “Enterprise is a highly innovative custom project for which a brand-new platform was developed and she has definitely the potential to become the first of a series”.

With her straight-bow, the new 38-metre yacht with aluminium hull and superstructure bears the signature of Francesco Paszkowski Design and project management by Roni Meshoulam, as Owner's representative. The interior was mostly signed by the Owner’s wife in collaboration with the shipyard’s interior design team.

NO ONE BETTER THAN HER OWNER CAN EXPRESS THE VERY SENSE OF ENTERPRISE

“Life is sometimes about circumstances and destiny. So is the story of Enterprise. Almost 3 years ago we had the good idea to visit Baglietto. We liked what we saw. The extensive use of glass with full-height windows on the main deck and the upper deck is certainly the main feature of this new project.

The profile alternates soft lines at the stern with more powerful sections at the bow, with large windows perfectly integrated into the structure.

The volume is also significant, thanks to a beam of 8.8 metres. Thanks to two Caterpillar ACERT C32 engines, the yacht can reach a maximum speed of 18 knots.

In light of the excellent results already achieved, the yard's expectations were and remain high.

A VIGOROUS RETURN TO THE MARKET

SINCE THE ECONOMIC RESTART FOLLOWING THE TAKEOVER BY TENNOR GROUP IN 2021, GERMAN SHIPYARD SHOWS AN IMPORTANT ORDER BOOK IN THE SUPERYACHT SEGMENT WHICH UNDERLINES NOBISKRUG’S SUCCESSFUL ECONOMIC REALIGNMENT AND RETURN TO ITS SUCCESSFUL COURSE.

In this article we have grouped together the recent activities of the German shipyard, with a tradition of over 115 years. Acquired in 2021 by Lars Windhorst, founder and owner of the Tennor Group, Nobiskrug boasts an extensive experience in building seagoing vessels which allows the yard to create innovative and bespoke superyachts, reflecting the its pledge to build superyachts that will last for generations to come.

Last August 2022 Nobiskrug completed an extensive refit (exteriors and interiors), on a 124-metre yacht built by Lürssen in 2010.

With the delivery of the Sailing Yacht A, the German shipyard once again confirmed their powerful presence among the leading superyacht builders, while its latest delivery – the high-tech and environmentally conscious, hybrid superyacht Artefact – cements Nobiskrug as a true innovator in its field. In the recent period the shipyard has presented several project, among these we find a new important contract signed last September, regarding a new a six deck 83-metre superyacht project, named Project Orkan. This new build contract has involved high-end global superyacht brokerage, Burgess , and Harrison Eidsgaard Design for the project. Philipp

It was only a few month earlier when Nobiskrug had announced the signature of a new contract with highend global superyacht brokerage, Cecil Wright . The German yard with Headquarters in Rendsburg is working with the prestigious brokerage, along with Winch Design, to design and build a five deck 80 metre superyacht for delivery to her owner in 2025.

Wright are perfectly appointed to work with Nobiskrug as they specialise on large northern European yachts over 60metres. The brokerage is acting for the owner’s behalf as well as project managing the construction.

During the contract negotiations it became clear that Nobiskrug and Cecil Wright both worked in a very mutually collaborative way. Chris Cecil-Wright emphasized that “this joint project is the beginning of a long-term relationship”.

The 80-metre yacht designed by Winch Design

Last March Nobiskrug announced the signature of the contract for Black Shark. Her dynamic, imposing exterior by Winch Design makes this yacht one of the most interesting one at present. Nobiskrug and the Owner have now signed the contract for the continued construction of the vessel (new build project 793). With this new order since the economic restart, the Rendsburg shipyard stays on its successful course since the takeover by Tennor Group. Investor Lars Windhorst, who was significantly involved in the negotiations for Black Shark, emphasizes that this success is proof of Nobiskrug’s capabilities. The current order book thus

completion in the superyacht building shed, Nobiskrug’s 160-metre long covered and air-conditioned dry dock. Under controlled conditions the interior and exterior outfitting will be finalised. This includes, among other tasks, the pulling of cables, pipe works, as well as the installation of insulation and the air conditioning and ventilation systems. Subsequently, the luxury interior created by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design from the Netherlands, and the installation of electrical components, such as lighting and entertainment systems, will be completed. At the same time, the filling and fairing work on the hull will be completed,

significantly contributes to the new orientation of the shipyard. “In intensive negotiations we prevailed against strong competitors and proved that we are the best partner for our customer. The fact that we were able to renew the contract for the construction of this outstanding ship makes me very proud on behalf of the employees of the shipyard,” says Maracke.

The construction of the superyacht will be completed at the shipyard in Rendsburg to be delivered to her owner in summer 2023. Black Shark is already awaiting its

before the innovative matt black paint is applied in several layers, and windows and doors are installed. The 77-metre yacht has a distinctive reverse bow and with a mast reminiscent of a shark’s fin fitted on a silver metallic superstructure, has a uniquely characteristic silhouette. At the same time, the matt paintwork of the hull mimics the skin texture of a black shark.

Black Shark is being built in compliance with IMO Tier 3 regulations, which set strict emission limits, as well as the Red Ensign Group Yacht Code Part A.

But the month of March was just as important in terms of design and creativity. In fact, last spring Swedish firm Tillberg Design of Sweden and Nobiskrug unveiled the 77-metre innovative yacht concept Lycka. The yacht has been thoughtfully designed and engineered to embrace the latest technologies with a customisable, Scandinavian-inspired interior and plentiful deck spaces in a contemporary and sporty package.

Lycka is yet another example of Nobiskrug’s longstanding shipbuilding experience regarding oceangoing yachts. Named for the Swedish word for “happiness”,

on Nobiskrug’s expertise in noise and vibration reducing technologies. Functionality and beauty converge within Lycka’s expansive interior, which boasts Scandinavian inspired simplicity with elements of luxury.

An open plan design highlighted by large room-high windows and folding balconies allows for interior and exterior to blend seamlessly on the main deck, which comprises a spacious salon and formal dining.

Amidships, a grand foyer features a spiral staircase encircling a lift that rises from the lower deck guest staterooms to the bridge deck above.

Lycka has been conceived to offer owners and guests the ultimate home away from home in a Scandinavian yet luxurious space designed to evoke a sense of rejuvenation, wellbeing and connection to the sea.

Clean, flowing lines lend a contemporary and modern look to the profile, with a Scandinavian lightness inside and out.

Conveying a presence of balance and power, Lycka is both well-proportioned and thoughtfully equipped for active owners. At the same time, the superyacht will rely

Lycka has been designed to accommodate up to 14 guests in the aforementioned owner’s suite plus six additional guest ensuites of equal size on the lower deck.

Gracious crew quarters housing ten double cabins are situated forward. The attention to detail is unparalleled through Lycka’s design, and subtle hints of colour combine with luxurious materials to carry out the vibe of relaxed sophistication.

On the bridge deck, a combination gym/spa is located aft of the wheelhouse followed by an office, dayhead and skylounge.

The captain’s quarters and a pantry with dedicated crew access to the galley below is located on this deck as well.

TDoS’s careful selection of sustainable materials is also factored into the design, which can be customised to suit the owner’s preference. Multiple style and colour options are possibile for the exterior, which can be tailored to a look that is classic, sporty or ultra-modern in profile.

The exterior spaces are maximised throughout the 77-metre design, with lounging and a bar found on the aft deck, a grand dining and relaxation oasis on the bridge deck aft, and a spacious sun deck equipped with an elongated Jacuzzi tub surrounded by sunpads forward with a bar and additional relaxation and entertainment aft.

Intended to incorporate the latest technologies, Lycka is designed to meet Lloyd’s Register certification and can be equipped with either diesel or hybrid propulsion.

A lucky few were able to admire her on the weekend of June 11, exhibited on a floating platform moored in front of another Riva stronghold, the Gritti Palace Hotel, which as one of its many unrivalled attractions has its own Aquariva Super, the “Doge”, for guests to use as a taxi. At the Cannes Yachting Festival, on the other hand, the open powerboat that is already a legend was displayed on a raised platform at the entrance, to the curiosity and delight of all the many visitors.

Riva Anniversario is a unique 33-foot open powerboat with magnetic appeal, paying tribute to the history

and legend of the yard that has been making exciting contributions to yachting, design and fine living for 180 years now. Only 18 units will be produced and they have already become collector’s items, dreamt of and longed for by everyone who loves Riva as an art form.

The sleekly elegant lines of the Anniversario are designed as always by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta , founders of Officina Italiana Design, working in partnership with the Strategic Product Committee led by Mr. Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department.

The exterior styling is inspired by the Aquariva’s classic silhouette, featuring clean lines, balanced volumes and a series of stylistic details that tap into the Aquarama’s refined style. Two legends in a new boat that is already an icon: it could only happen with Riva. But don’t be misled by this tribute to past masterpieces because her design expresses Anniversario’s distinctive and innovative personality, featuring an exclusive and magnificently modern configuration seen not least in the choice of more saturated and fuller colours for the surfaces, highlighting their character. An innovative Metallic Brown, created exclusively for Anniversario,

waterline, which leads into the white antifouling and pays tribute to the Aquarama, as does the name of the model written in same lettering style as the famous wooden boats of the 1960s. Also echoing the style of the Aquarama, the gorgeously designed protective steel bow cap is joined by the lateral search lights with their classic steel bracket. Adding another touch of style and modernity to the silhouette are side handrails graced with a steel base clad in a refined mahogany fascia.

The entire aft section on board is occupied by the engine compartment hidden below the classic sun pad,

highlights the dazzling beauty of the boat as a whole and is juxtaposed with gloss varnished mahogany. The colour scheme includes masterful contrasts between steel, used for various details and trim, and classic Riva aquamarine alternating with optical white on all the leather upholstery, amplifying its charm.

Riva Anniversario exerts its power of seduction even before you go aboard, with a stern platform concealed and sheltered by the streamlined design of the hull sides. The boat’s profile is also enhanced by the aquamarine

which is upholstered with innovative outdoor leather in alternating aquamarine and white colours. The same leather is used to upholster both the cockpit and the below-deck area. This special type of leather is perfectly waterproof, withstands marine conditions and can be used at sea, ensuring an unrivalled sensation of softness and wellbeing. Designed for functionality and comfort, the cockpit features a large U-shaped sofa and a central table seating up to eight people. But that’s not all: the table has an up-down mechanism so that the space can easily be transformed into one big sunbathing area.

Another innovative feature is the design of the mahogany cabinetry, which is integrated into the lower part of the sofa and includes storage and accessories. The area can be sheltered by the distinctive bimini top.

The bow area is run through with unmistakable details in perfect Riva style. Turning to the helm station, the dashboard includes two 12-inch digital displays and integrated navigation instruments. Aquarama-inspired vintage features abound, like the Vienna straw storage pocket with steel trim behind the driver’s seat.

The foredeck is clad entirely in polished mahogany planking. Continuing the tradition of hand craftsmanship, all the wooden parts of Anniversario are protected by the Sarnicobased yard’s famous twentyfour coats of varnish. Two deck portholes inspired by the Aquarama, one on either side, bring natural light down below deck. The centrally positioned steel casing adds a sumptuously elegant accent to the deck, as well as housing the navigation lights.

Below deck, the ambiance features leather upholstery with an aquamarine and white colour scheme that matches the ceiling. Riva Anniversario is fitted with an electronically controlled twospeed gearbox that unleashes all the power of the two YANMAR 8 LV engines, each rated 370 hp. This engine configuration delivers a top speed of 40.5 knots and provides a range of 155 miles at the cruising speed of 36 knots ∎

A noble cause

The launch of Riva Anniversario also represents an opportunity for Ferretti Group to leave a mark, since one of the 18 units in the Limited Edition, will be donated to the charity initiative “7 Fund for UNICEF”, created by UNICEF and David Beckham to support children around the world with better healthcare, education and protection.

hen building a 70-metre yacht, one thinks twice, even three times. These are important projects that require an incredible effort, both financial and logistical but also organizational. When a shipyard gets to dedicate itself to a 70-metre vessel it means that it is in full maturity and experience (or at least that's the way it should be for everyone). And in fact Permare celebrates its 50th anniversary with this project. A new Amer has been announced and it is already under construction. But it is not a classic Amer (pass me the 'classic' term), but a truly revolutionary project for the Sanremo-based shipyard, a real, concrete look forward, the result of investments and the will to act: it is the new Amer 70 Steel, the first ever built by the yard in steel.

Last June Permare (the name of the company, Amer Yachts is the brand) announced the construction of the first 70-metre yacht in steel, presenting this project as a custom unit developed for an esteemed European client.

The construction of the unit began last March 2022, as announced by the Amerio family, who owns and runs the shipyard since 1973. The works are followed directly from the yard with strict supervision, with a dedicated supply chain, giving geographical priority to the Ligurian and Tuscan districts and privileging highly skilled workers that will ensure the highest quality.

Born from the creative mind of the Italian Architect Antonio Luxardo of Optima Design, this new displacement hull yacht conceived with contemporary lines, is expected to be ready for the 2026 season. The project stands out for having very generous on-board

Wspaces, innovative aesthetic and stylistic features, while from an engineering point of view it is designed to operate with low consumption. The project was initially commissioned to the La Spezia-based Optima Design studio, with which Amer Yachts has a fruitful collaboration today. The construction and quality control manager is a well-known face in the industry, he is engineer Giulio Riva, who boasts thirty years of experience in the iron and steel sector and who has collaborated on many important successful refi projects with the Sanremo shipyard.

The interiors are designed by Luxury Projects studio, to the initiative of eclectic Laura Pomponi, who is also working with the Sanremo shipyard on another project. Regarding this project, which represents the shipyard's biggest and most demanding challenge, Amer Yachts has primised to unveil further details in the coming months.

Permare, which this year celebrates its first 50 years of activity, thanks to its strategic position in western Liguria close to the French Riviera and the very fashionable and refined Principality of Monaco, can boast a large clientele from Italy but also overseas, or simply passing through, since this location is not only a tourism destination and harbour, but also an industrial crossroads.

But the strategic activities signed by Amer Yachts are not finished. In fact, in addition to this new 70-metre project, which definitively launches the new 'steel segment' for the company, the dedicated composite team is strengthened and particularly involved in managing the scale up of the Amer 120 construction type and extending it to the entire product range.

Massimo Verme, Stefano Tini and Andrea Ramasco are part of the historic group and will be particularly busy this year in completing the many Amer Yachts projects, with deliveries scheduled through the end of 2023.

At the last Monaco Yacht Show, the Sanremo shipyard presented a second particularly noteworthy project, again in the steel segment: it is the Amer Steel 41, an explorer designed by Luiz De Basto for both the external and internal lines. In addition to the shipyard and the designer, Andrea Piccione, Head of Marine Sales Volvo Penta, and the sales broker Juan Morillo, Amer dealer in United States, were also present at the press event.

Once again we find the name Optima Design among the brands involved in this project. In fact, the studio took care of the design, naval architecture and executive engineering.

This 41-metre steel explorer was commissioned from the shipyard at the beginning of the year and according to the works plan, its delivery is scheduled for the beginning of 2025, at which time it will present itself to the industry's audience with the aim of opening up a way on the international market.

The AMER 41 Explorer is characterized by an innovative hull in terms of shape but also from a technological point of view. It is in fact equipped with an advanced new propulsion system capable of significantly reducing consumption and emissions, while guaranteeing silence and comfort on board.

Furthermore, the yacht is designed with a new evolutionary system for launching and retrieving its tenders. The system allows to carry out these operations more quickly and, most importantly, greater safety. Broker Morillo said he was particularly satisfied with the project, commenting positively on the performance and shallow draft. ∎

Delivered last May 2022, M/Y Rio is the latest true-custom steel and aluminium superyacht by CRN, an entirely bespoke nautical work of art. The taut, flowing hull lines and nearvertical bow bear striking testament to her remarkable elegance and dynamic, sporty personality. The new 62-metre beauty is the latest fullest expression of the Ancona yard’s artisanal skill, design expertise and fine construction quality.

THE NEW 62M SUPERYACHT RIO IS THE LATEST FULLY BESPOKE NAUTICAL WORK OF ART PRESENTED BY CRN AT THE LAST MONACO YACHT SHOW: THE YACHT IS DESIGNED TO MAKE ON-BOARD LIFE UNIQUELY PLEASURABLE.

Rio was designed and built by CRN in collaboration with design studio Omega Architects, who created the exterior concept, and Pulina Exclusive Interiors for the styling inside. TWW Yachts represented the owner, while TWW Yacht Management provided integral technical consultancy with survey and project management oversight throughout the final stages of construction and onward through her operational management.

62 metres large with a beam of 11.2 metres, this 4-deck yacht comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests in the owner’s suite and 5 guest cabins (plus 9 cabins for the 15 crew). These are comprised of 2 full-beam VIPs and

3 suites on the lower deck, served by a lift to all decks.

Created to her owner’s vision, Rio exudes a supreme harmony between the ample interior and exterior spaces, evoking a strong sense of fluidity, an impression of even greater volume and a perceptual and functional unity between inside and out.

The generous full-height windows form a visual continuum in sync with the elegant exterior architecture. They offer a delightful play of reflected shimmer, bathing the spaces in light and enabling constant direct contact with the sea.

The main aft deck profile revels in the harmony of designer Frank Laupman’s signature arches, which protect the deck and assure guests’ privacy while framing superb views from the side and stern. The owner can enjoy the harmonious distribution and quality of the spaces, with a smooth, fluid layout designed specially to unite the many large indoor and outdoor living areas seamlessly in masterly style, where natural light reigns supreme.

The magnificent outdoor spaces are conceived as multipurpose areas for relaxing and sociable moments.

This wealth of spaces includes the stern lounge with bright, airy al fresco dining facilities or the lounge at the bow on the owner deck with a generous spa pool and sun area for fitness use and parties. Not to mention the wellness lounge with water toys aplenty at the beach club, or the huge spa pool and cinema zone aft on the wheelhouse deck.

The entire superyacht is tailored to create an extraordinary personalised cruising experience steeped in freedom and privacy. The owner can savour the seclusion of their own private deck or dive into the buzz of the sizeable social areas.

Rio reflects an advanced contemporary concept of onboard living. The comfort is set off with sublime details selected with absolute care, where exquisite materials mingle with specially developed colour combinations. The owner expressly requested bright, colourful spaces and a happy atmosphere for the younger family members. The vibrant concept is developed with a tropical mood, where the prevailing upbeat white tones, pure lines and natural materials are set off by a mix of lively pops of colour and vivid décor inspired by exotic motifs.

The white walls harmonise with the marine palette, from pastel turquoise to the varying shades of azure for the furnishings and textiles in custom textures. And delightful details – in tones of blue and fuchsia or green and grey – further embellish every deck.

The preferred woods are American walnut and white lacquered oak in staves, selected respectively for the floors and walls all through the yacht. Crema d’Orcia and Calacatta Vagli Oro marbles grace the bathrooms, chiming with the predominant light hues.

The most vivid notes come from other marbles: the blues of the Azul Macauba in the saloons and the mossy Irish Green in the outdoor American bars light up the spaces with colour combinations in marine-inspired moods.

Imaginative stylish details and custom artworks permeate all the decks with character. Sumptuous wallpapers and jungle-style decorations, like the hand-painted panels in the owner’s lobby, create vibrant, joyous, endlessly fascinating effects.

The yacht’s interiors are by Zago S.p.A, a Ferretti Group company established over a century ago as a small artisanal carpentry workshop.

As with the owner suite, all the guest areas and cabins come with the very latest smart-automation technology. This allows guests to control and personalise the air conditioning system, the opening and closing of the curtains, the lighting – from the brightness to switching on and off – and, naturally, all the audiovisual kit.

AN EXUBERANT, DYNAMIC FEEL

The main-deck offers fully integrated and harmonious inside and out spaces where finishes and decoration form a seamless continuum throughout.

The cockpit hosts a large, comfortable open-air living space with a versatile layout. This lounge and welcome area features furnishings by contemporary Italian design brands with a colour palette that plays with natural elements like the sea and sky, fusing in unison with the tropical mood.

This multipurpose space makes a superb social and dining area, which reveals a strong, immediate sense of spaciousness. The many full-height windows afford spectacular sea views and make this an especially luminous space. Among the sophisticated materials, the white lacquered oak takes pride of place on the walls alongside some magnificent cotton wallpapers in shades of white, framed by understated pastel turquoise lacquered profiling. Like a neutral tableau enlivened by

splashes of colour, the white furnishings juxtapose with elements in shades of azure and strikingly colourful jungle-inspired custom artworks on the walls.

Guests are welcomed by an American bar at the entrance, which becomes a bridge between the indoor and outdoor lounge areas. At the far end of the main saloon, the living area with sofa and 83" TV. Further along the deck, the central lobby revolves around the elegant staircase in bleached pickled oak. Linking all levels of the yacht, this object of design is functional yet beautiful, embellished with white-leather wall coverings. The lift has mirrored walls with a decorative 3D effect and an American walnut floor with Crema d’Orcia marble inlay.

The full-beam VIP cabin is grand enough to be considered a second owner suite. The eye is drawn to the distinctive wallpaper made of bamboo interwoven with silver thread and cotton, a symphony of nuanced blues with a delectable texture.

On the lower deck, the beach club is a multipurpose lounge area looking right on to the sea, equipped with a spectrum of water toys for unrivalled aquatic enjoyment.

Designed to offer moments of togetherness and fun, both indoors and out, the area receives extra illumination from the four large lanterns in the floor of the deck above, which light up the blues and greens of the marine-style furnishings and nature-inspired wallpaper.

Besides the wellness area which house a hammam and shower, there is a lounge with bright, cheerful floating poufs shaped like starfish for guests to enjoy with a large TV that doubles as an interactive whiteboard for games and other entertainment.

Down from the main-deck lobby to the lower deck, a fully equipped gym forms a keep-fit zone in combination with the bow area.

The 4 guest cabins with private bathroom comprise 1 full-beam VIP, 2 identical doubles and a twin with third

Pullman bed, all with white lacquered-oak staved walls pepped up with dashes of colour. In seamless harmony with the various decks’ interior style and materials, each guest cabin is finished differently, personalised with its own colour scheme – red/brown, green/blue and pastel green – for the wall panels, profiling and furnishings.

In the bathrooms, the Crema d’Orcia marble echoes the relaxing light tones that pervade the entire yacht.

Special mention must be made of the large, luminous full-beam VIP cabin: a walk-through wardrobe partitions the sleeping area complete with ample study and a bathroom with twin sinks.

The 323 sqm owner's deck is a sophisticated haven of privacy, notable for its harmonious symmetries, its great openness to the sea, and its eclectic blend of spaces with privacy uppermost in mind.

To the stern, a fabulous al fresco dining area links to the sky lounge for an unforgettable indoor–outdoor experience. The centrepiece is a custom-made round dining table identical to the one in the main-deck lounge. Linked via sinuous walkways both aft to the main deck and wheelhouse deck and to the outer deck at the bow, the area transforms easily into an open-air party zone with DJ console.

Walls and furnishings here also have neutral and white background tones. Superb details, finishes and elements in shades of pastel turquoise emphasize the marine mood that runs through the yacht.

Towards the bow, the owner suite lobby draws the eye with 3 magnificent hand-painted artworks on the walls. These palatial spaces with 180° windows offer peerless

sea views, creating a powerful sense of openness and glorious luminosity. In the owner’s suite, the white tones of the lacquered oak on the walls set off the various shades of bright blue in the finishing and furnishings. At the heart of the room, the fully custom king-size bed features a white-leather headboard with a 3D effect from the vertical petrol-blue leather inlay.

At the bow, the striking entirely open-air lounge spanning 115 sqm leads directly off the master cabin. Full privacy is always assured, as the area is secluded and out of the crew’s eye line. Here, a lounge area features a teak pool, recessed for privacy from the helm station and to be out of the wind when cruising; a canopy protects it from the sun when required. This great multipurpose outdoor space can also be opened up to guests and for parties, as a stunning dance floor under the stars. The deck’s raison d’être – total privacy – is underlined by the design of the mooring area below, conceived so that on-board staff must access it directly from the crew zone, avoiding the owner’s private spaces.

The wheelhouse deck hosts a spacious outdoor area for guests to relax in the spa zone and have fun in the sun. The fully custom pool is a welcome feature, raised and with a conveniently integrated sun pad along one side.

This highly versatile area becomes a fully equipped open-air private cinema with a big screen and projector that slide down from the ceiling; it can also host lively karaoke evenings with friends

The outdoor lounge with comfy sofas includes an American bar with waterside seats; the beautiful Irish Green marble top forms a chromatic continuum with the one on the owner deck below. Forward through the lobby past the captain’s cabin, the integrated helm station has a commanding position and excellent visibility. It vaunts 5 interchangeable screens and all the latest on-board technology; sliding panels on the Fenix top conceal the instruments when not in use.

The helm leads to the spacious first officer’s cabin. The yacht has a top speed of 15 knots and cruises at 12 knots,

The yacht, permitted to cruise in all geographical areas, is IMO Tier III-certified1, assuring drastic reductions of 70% in harmful emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the engine exhaust.

To complete the fun and pleasure of navigation, the fullbeam garage accommodates two jet skis, an array of toys for all the family and guests to enjoy, an 8-metre Pascoe Beachlander tender and a second tender of almost 5 metres for the crew that also acts as a rescue boat. Built on one of Benetti’s most successful platforms, 65-metre M/Y Triumph features five enclosed decks plus a sundeck, achieving an exquisite balance between volume and length. The vessel has a highly efficient hull and guarantees silent cruising for long-distance trips in the utmost comfort. On board Triumph, the use of “Box-in-Box” construction technology is extended to almost all the living areas; this technology in conjunction with many other solutions developed by the shipyard’s engineering department ensures silent running and reduced vibrations – features that are highly valued by Benetti’s customers.

Triumph has a range of over 4,700 miles at 12 knots, and the owner intends to spend long periods on board with their guests while taking advantage of all the spaces, ensuring optimal service on every deck.

The quality of the platform has made it possible to optimise any extra space around the rooms, ensuring more surface area both for the crew to work in and for the owner and guests to enjoy their life on board.

The most important features include the 130-squaremeter master suit with an adjoining study/lounge and spacious outdoor terrace, the full-beam VIP cabin on the main deck as well as a generously sized and lightfilled lounge on the upper deck, a gym with a huge sliding glass door on the bridge deck, a touch-and-go helipad and a beach area of over 70 square meters.

Conviviality is the undisputed driver of a design that ensures guests can be accommodated together in almost all the areas for entertaining on the megayacht.

The yacht’s sleek, sculpted exterior styling is the work of Cassetta Yacht Designers , the well-known Italian firm that has successfully given this boat a sense of timeless elegance, free from the constraints of current fashions.

Starting from the top, the sundeck is characterised by an all-round panoramic view and fitted out with lounge areas and a Jacuzzi. Directly underneath, on the bridge deck, you will find the veranda/gym area, a hybrid indoor/outdoor setting with over 2.4m of headroom inside that makes it both practical and delightfully airy, equipped with air conditioning and a lightweight sliding glass door.

The unusually sized upper deck has a spacious exterior dining area, complete with an American bar and a panoramic lounge that can also be used as a touch-andgo helipad if needed.

Triumph has a sleek and elegant stern that works very well with the position and length of the decks above, counterpointing the extremely long bow in a combination of proportions that embodies linear elegance.

The yacht’s hull is designed to maximize efficiency and reduce fuel consumption, as well as ensuring excellent handling at sea, remarkable stability, and great manoeuvrability.

The distribution of space on board Triumph is ideal: two large garage, crew quarters that are completely separate from the guest area but directly connect to it both horizontally and vertically, and an under-lower service deck.

Designed to offer the ultimate in technical and storage spaces, Triumph is ideal for long, comfortable cruises.

The layout, the choice of materials, decor and furniture were handled by the Benetti style department working in tandem with the client. Green & Mingarelli Design was chosen directly by the owner to look after the decorative aspects. The result is a unique yacht characterised by a style that combines ethnicity and luxury, using exclusive materials like glass by Lalique, marble and fur, alongside elements of green design.

The indoor and outdoor dining tables were designed specifically for Triumph. All the outdoor furniture is made of stainless steel, elegantly detailed with special corded rope producing an effect in line with the yacht’s contemporary style. Based on input from the owner, the designers adopted a contemporary, cosmopolitan style that avoids any particular geographical references and chooses refined materials like Crema Marfil, Statuary and Amani marble. Similarly striking are the loomwoven silk and wool carpets, with a pattern inspired by oriental fabrics depicting the geometrical designs created by sand dunes in the desert.

The interior layout features a division of space on the main deck that harks back to tradition, with a generous lounge followed by the indoor dining area that doubles up as a movie theatre.

Also worthy of note is the light decor, designed to showcase works of art the client has chosen to hang onboard: a selection of photographs by internationally renowned artists arranged in the style of a museum or art gallery.

The owner is a passionate collector, among other things of Triumph motorcycles, one of which is installed as part of the decor on the upper deck. ∎

For the interiors, Green & Mingarelli design has chosen the photographic monochrome works of the artist who is now very popular internationally, and whom Superyacht Digest already in 2018 had opted for one of the beautiful covers. This is David Yarrow.

David’s evocative and immersive photography is most distinctive and has earned him an ever growing following amongst art collectors. Born in Glasgow in 1966. He took up photography at an early age and as a 20-year-old found himself working as a photographer for The London Times on the pitch at the World Cup Final in Mexico City when he took the famous picture of Diego Maradona holding the World Cup and, as a result, was asked to cover the Olympics and many other sporting events.

Many years later David established himself as a photographer by documenting the natural world from new perspectives and the last nine years have been career defining. His works are on display in leading galleries across Europe and North America and he is now recognised as one of the best-selling photographers in the world with his limited edition works regularly sold at Sotheby’s and other auction houses.

This model, the spiritual successor to the previous multi-award-winning Mangusta Oceano 43, introduces a new, exclusive concept of onboard life, radically reinterpreting the way life at sea can be enjoyed at best: it is indeed a true ultra-modern loft where glazed surfaces are the undisputed protagonists on very deck, creating a seamless, harmonious continuity between interior and exterior spaces.

The yacht's elegant layout stands out for its pleasant design consistency and seamless connection between indoor and outdoor areas, also thanks to an extensive use of glazed surfaces. A glaring example of this is the upper deck, where the full-height windows are undoubtedly the core design elements: while the view they offer from inside is absolutely stunning, their see-through effect is further magnified outside by as many glazed panes installed as parapets, resulting in a huge, uninterrupted space with a breathtaking view of the sea.

The bulwarks and steel handrails have been replaced by transparent glass panes flush with the teak floors, introducing unprecedented solutions and volumes that would been unthinkable on a traditional three-decker.

The standard layout features a second saloon on the upper deck, which opens up almost completely thanks to three large sliding doors, two of which on the sides.

On this first unit, however, the Owner has decided to have a second master stateroom, instead, on the upper deck, to enjoy an exclusive, private view of the ocean.

The cabin is accessed via a convenient internal staircase that, from the main deck lobby, leads to the Owner's dressing room, equipped with numerous wardrobes and mirrors. From there, access is gained to the actual cabin, fully immersed in the surrounding landscape thanks to incredibly large windows.

Warm, soft nuances are predominant in this suite, with pink touches like the Marine Leather headboard decorated by an elegant 3D fish, the face-powder pink vanity, and the comfortable Minotti seat that complements it. The same colour shades can also be found in the en-suite bathroom in Calacatta and Thassos marble, fitted with rose gold taps.

The main deck hosts a large saloon with alternating warm and cold materials, such as marble for the floors combined with wood in the same camel shade as the leather Poltrona Frau sofa that stands at the entrance.

Another 4 Poltrona Frau armchairs add the perfect final touch to this environment. The veining of the Calacatta marble used for the Minotti coffee table top matches the marble used for the floors. The dining area, located towards the bow, has been fitted out with a table with an onyx centre piece; the table seats up to 12 people and is illuminated by a chandelier with multiple light points, custom-made to the Owner's taste.

The staircase that can be admired from the lobby has a wall completely upholstered in Studioart leather, characterised by a geometric pattern. Walking further on the main deck, access is gained to the master stateroom, which also includes a dedicated dressing room at the entrance and opens up onto a fully automated balcony, from where the Owner can enjoy a private view of the ocean.

The cabin is connected to the upper deck by a series of skylights created on the bottom of the swimming pool to let natural light shine through and produce mesmerising water reflections in the space below. The bathroom, also clad in Calacatta marble, has a large central shower and a bathtub. This master cabin, too, is pervaded by delicate, warm colour shades, and the ceiling is decorated with painted inserts evoking the movement of passing clouds.

The lower deck is entirely dedicated to guests, who will find accommodation in 2 VIP and 2 guest cabins, each of them harmoniously matching the colour shades and materials used throughout the yacht.

Towards the bow, still on the upper deck, is a wonderful pool - a sunbathing area entirely surrounded by water (hence the name “The Island”) which can be easily accessed via a teak deck, thereby creating a truly fullimmersion experience. Part of the pool bottom is transparent, so as to let light shine through and brighten the owner's suite shower located on the main deck.

The wheelhouse, close to this area, is truly one of a kind and has huge full-height windows that ensure excellent visibility.

The impressive volumes, like the size of the sun deck (104 sq. m / 1120 sq./ft., so far truly unthinkable on a yacht in her class), make the Mangusta Oceano 44 a real pearl, further enriched by equally precious interiors, where the constant alternation and skilful combination of warm and cold materials, lacquered surfaces and matt wood, marbles and leather upholstery, are truly the highest expression of contemporary minimalism.

Renowned Greek shipyard Golden Yachts has established a solid track record, with the launch of important units in recent years, such as O’PARI and O’PTASIA. The brand-new 88-metre superyacht Project X, delivered last summer 2022, stands out as a unique combination of British architecture and Italian style. The yacht showcases iconic exterior design (and general arrangement plan) by legendary British designer Ken Freivokh and

restful, contemporary interiors – including Freivokh's jaw-dropping triple-height atrium – by Italy’s Massari Design, with all design guided and overseen by her hugely experienced owner. Project X ’s overall beam reaches 14,8m, measuring 2973GRT, offering space and comfort onboard. Her steel hull and aluminium superstructure were built to Bureau Veritas classification and MCA compliance for commercial operation.

Her 2,973GT of internal volume feature the very latest in design, technology and style to deliver the highest standards in quality, service and entertainment. The overall plan of the yacht is very functional and is designed to maximise the enjoyment of each area, whether accommodation or common areas.

An interior flooded with natural light, redefines the connection with your surroundings. Nowhere is this better expressed than in her uniquely impressive glass elevator and triple-height atrium, inspired by Freivokh.

The yacht surprises for some particular design details, and the abovementioned breathtaking Atrium is one of the area that make Project X truly unique: connecting 3 of the 5 decks it has internal balconies and is illuminated by the side “X” structures. It hosts one of the largest circular glass lifts to have ever been installed on a yacht. The lighting scenery is enhanced by perimetric glass floor panels, which required special fixing and installation systems.

The yacht is full of details, finishes and elegant combinations of essences: more than 40 types of leather, precious woods, marbles and onyxes as well as metals with unique finishes and silk carpets decorate the interiors. This required the knowhow of various experts and the collaboration of company's contractors, as well as a lot of other suppliers, to deliver every single piece - from a leatherbuckled column, to boiserie and fabric-woven panels.

With 900 sqm surface of teaklaid decks, guests can experience the amazing ocean view from the 7.5m x 3m glass walled pool enjoying direct access to the swimming platform, a private Jacuzzi on the owner’s deck as well as a ten-seat SPA pool with panoramic views over the sundeck.

In total Project X accommodates up to 19 guests in seven guest cabins plus VIP and Owner’s suite, which is located on the Bridge deck, and each has its own colour scheme. Other alluring features include a large private owner's deck with private pool, 2 bathrooms and 2 dressing rooms. The sun lounging terrace boasts sensational views through fullheight windows in the full-beam master suite with a 180-degree panoramic view.

The main deck is home to a large pool, 7x3.5m, on the aft deck with vast sunbathing facilities and a large sit-up wet bar. A DJ station ‘bridges’ over the main deck pool for professional DJ sets with B&O sound system and nightclub lights for peerless parties.

The sea-level Beach club area on the lower deck aft was definitely the most challenging from an engineering perspective, where storage of the Owner ’s Pedrazzini boat joins a relaxing living area.

The beach club features two large sea terraces, a huge swim platform, with a sit-up bar with views into the glass-sided pool above and a circular lounge, in addition to other seating areas and a large TV.

It’s also home to the yacht’s spa with Finnish Sauna, transparent glass Turkish Hammam and massage/beauty room.

Among Project X’s special features there is the 360° view fully equipped Gym Area on the Sun deck, with at its centre the elevator that services all guest decks. Illuminated both from the sides plus ceiling skylights, and hosting a cabin with separate bathroom, it is certainly one of the most remarkable characteristics.

Aft is a sit-up wet bar, café-style seating and a large area for sun loungers and forward is a 10-person jacuzzi with adjacent sunpads.

Another special feature is a cabin on the upper deck with a private lounge area which, again with a view to functionality and flexibility of the spaces, can in turn be subdivided to become a second cabin if required.

On the upper deck forward, there is also an impressive full-beam office and conference room with separate PA/secretary facilities with panoramic views.

The exterior dining table on the upper deck is carved out of marble. It comfortably accommodates 18 guests and is perfect for endless parties, both on the main deck lounge area as well as on the Helipad sitting at the fore mezzanine.

Project X also has an extensive collection of tenders and toys, from the 10m (32.8ft) Onda Limousine tender and the impressive 9m (29.5ft) Pedrazzini Vivalle classic tender to the two 6.3m (20.7ft) Whitmarsh RIBs. She also has a packed toy locker to keep everyone entertained on the water.

Twin 2,510hp Caterpillar diesel engines, with very minimal engine hours, give her a top speed of 16 knots and an astonishing range of 9,500nm at her passage speed of 12.5 knots. Naiad Dynamics zero speed stabilisers ensure comfort on arrival. She also has a touch-and-go helipad on the foredeck. ∎

NEW LAUNCH FIRST SANLORENZO 57STEEL

FIRST OF FOUR UNITS, THE 57STEEL JUST LAUNCHED MARKS A VERY IMPORTANT MOMENT IN THE ONGOING GROWTH OF THE SANLORENZO SUPERYACHT DIVISION, THAT CURRENTLY IS WORKING ON 21 SUPERYACHTS FROM 44 TO 73 METERS.

ast November Sanlorenzo launched the first unit of the 57Steel line at the shipyard's superyacht production site in La Spazia. This first 56.5-metre long vessel with five decks and a tonnage of 1050 GT is the prototype of the line and will be delivered in early 2023. The sale was finalised by the broker house West Nautical, which also oversaw the project management.

In terms of design, Sanlorenzo's new addition was overseen by Bernardo Zuccon, Zuccon International Project , who for the first time designed the exterior lines of a Sanlorenzo superyacht of such dimensions.

As Bernardo Zuccon explains, “the 57 Steel is an ambitious project behind which there has been an intense amount of typological research, a very important study which has always been at the basis of the research that Zuccon International Project has been conducting with passion since the beginning of its collaboration with Sanlorenzo. The aim was to create a craft of around 1050 GT with functional and lifestyle contents that are normally found on boats of larger sizes. From a design point of view, the most important challenge was to find the right balance between the volumes and proportions of the boat. There is no ostentation of the brand, and the external lines have a defined and extremely fluid, transparent and lucid progression in which the yard's language shines through. We can define 57 Steel: a skilful play of balance between content and container ”

This new superyacht allows for indoor and outdoor spaces that are decidedly out of the ordinary and revises the different functions of the on-board spaces in a new way. In fact, the layout of the 57Steel alters the traditional balance whereby the wheelhouse, which is normally located at the bow of the upper deck, is relocated at the bridge deck, like in the larger yachtsoffering the possibility of using the upper deck in a different way. Here we find the owner's cabin overlooking the large Owner's deck, a private area with an exclusive view of the sea.

Thanks to the unusual layout, a large full-beam VIP cabin, which can be used as a second owner's cabin, has also been placed forward on the main deck. This large aft area includes a swimming pool with a transparent bottom that allows light to filter into the area below, softly punctuating the spaces of the beach area, which can be further extended towards the water thanks to the folding terraces.

Designed by Studio Vickers of London, the interiors were created by working closely with the client. This made it possible to create warm and cosy environments that perfectly met the ideas and wishes of the owner. John Vickers added, “ we were tasked with creating a warm, detailed and inviting interior for an experienced owner and his family aboard this 56-metre steel Sanlorenzo. The design process was a huge creative pleasure and the shipyard team responded really well to our design direction, producing a wonderful interior. We were excellently supported by West Nautical's management and construction team, who were extremely professional. We have worked with Sanlorenzo before and know the care and attention to detail, but on this yacht, it was exceptional”. ∎

SUSTAINABILITY MAKES INNOVATION: THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY IS REALLY MAKING PROGRESS IN THIS AREA

BUILDERS, SUPPLIERS, OWNERS AND INVESTORS: THEY ARE ALL GIVING THEIR PRECIOUS CONTRIBUTION. THE LAST EDITION OF THE MONACO YACHT SHOW EXPLORERED HOW THE INDUSTRY IS TAKING SUSTAINABILITY SERIOUSLY WITH SEVERAL NEW INITIATIVES.

Sustainability Conference offered window into sustainable superyacht industry initiatives. Held on Wednesday 28 September, upon the Show’s opening, with prestigious key partners such as The Monaco Yacht Show itself and SYBAss, together with Water Revolution Foundation and Superyacht Life Foundation, the Sustainability Conference – offered an open-door panel discussion that aimed to inform the wider media with a snapshot of how the superyacht industry is making progress in the area of sustainability. The representatives on the panel included Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show; Robert van Tol, Executive Director of Water Revolution Foundation; naval architect Philippe Briand; CEO of the Baltic Yachts shipyard Anders Kurtén; and Giedo Loeff, who works as Head of Research and Development at Dutch superyacht builder Feadship.

The first part of the discussion included short updates from each of the panellists, who gave an insight into key developments and thought processes that are driving the industry forward. Among those, outlined by Gaëlle Tallarida, was an introduction to a new initiative for the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show – the Sustainability Hub. Created to highlight innovative projects and companies offering sustainable solutions to the superyacht industry, the Hub’s exhibitors had all been verified for eligibility by Water Revolution Foundation, the non-profit organisation that is developing various tools to help the industry reduce its environmental footprint.

Tallarida also described the Show’s efforts to become more sustainable, including measures it is taking to reduce its own impact, its commitment to the Monaco Pact

in collaboration with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, and its work with Water Revolution Foundation on setting up the Sustainability Hub. “We are committed to a more sustainable event, and we already have solutions in place”, said Tallarida. “Moreover, the Sustainability Hub highlights sustainable solutions and projects that help reduce the superyacht environmental footprint with the support of the yachting industry and with the help of Water Revolution Foundation. The Hub has start-ups specialising in technology, solutions and eco-friendly concepts, and it is set to take a leading role in showcasing innovative and future superyachting solutions”.

For Robert van Tol of Water Revolution Foundation, the Conference was a chance to explain how the Foundation is driving both measurement and cooperation within the industry to highlight the importance of full lifecycle assessment, develop the tools that will enable builders, designers and suppliers to make tangible differences in their collective footprint, and foster a community of shared research that will benefit the whole industry.

“Yachting is the only maritime sector that has a dedicated non-profit organisation for tackling its environmental impact, and there’s a huge amount you can gain in terms of efficiency to share what has been worked on – and the results of – research and development,” said Van Tol. “And where commercial ships just use the oceans to transport goods from A to B, yachting has an extra connection – it is our back garden.

As an organisation we focus on reducing the negative impacts on the environment but also on ocean conservation, which is an opportunity to have a collective positive impact. This is a growing initiative and more and more companies are coming on board”.

Philippe Briand explained how yacht design can make a significant difference in the efficiency of vessels, in particular when low-resistance hull design typical in sailing yachts, is applied to motor yachts. He also explained some of the advancements being made in capturing green energy by harnessing the wind and through hydrogeneration when sailing, alongside solar energy. It speaks to reducing the demand for and dependence on fossil fuels, a key consideration as yachting looks to make the energy transition to renewables and carbon-neutral power. It was a facet that was emphasised further by Giedo Loeff, who explored how Feadship’s own research over the past 15 years has focused on the transition to renewable fuels, epitomised by the recent Pure yacht concept which lays out a roadmap to 2030 with a propulsion system that begins by switching immediately to renewable, fossilfree diesel, and progresses through alternative fuels such as methanol and hydrogen for the future.

Anders Kurtén also addressed the build side of the industry, outlining how Baltic Yachts has been taking steps to incorporate more renewable, recycled or alternative materials in yacht construction – for example, using flax in place of glass fibre or carbon in hull and frame construction and monitoring the development of bio-resins to replace vinylester.

“A superyacht is a product that exists for one reason –to put a smile on the owner’s face”, Kurtén enthused. “Seeing as the world is changing, we’d like to act in a way by which they can continue to buy a yacht with a good conscience. We believe that our customers represent about 0,003 percent of the global population but as they control 15 percent of global assets, their actions are lighting the way as thought leaders. There’s no silver bullet but sustainability is achieved by focusing on multiple small details all combined. And our customers collaborate with us to create sustainable solutions”.

Added Van Tol: “Water Revolution Foundation is a collaborative platform that attracts like-minded companies and individuals to work together.” “Our aim with the Conference was to show that the industry is really making progress in this area of sustainability, and to inform the media and the wider public about all of the new developments that are going on in the background both with existing and established builders and suppliers but also with new companies that are innovating in this sector and attracting investment in this sector,” said Tony Harris. “All of the ideas presented at the Conference are happening” ∎

The real turning point in approaching a project so different from those I am used to was applying all my baggage of experience in the world of yachts to designing a sofa that really does solve the problems raised by its unusual location: an environment that moves on water”.

THE JACQUES-YVES SEATING SYSTEM

The first result of the synergy between Poltrona Frau Custom Interiors and Zuccon International Projects is the Jacques-Yves seating system for both indoor and outdoor use. It is a versatile and flexible system, not only in terms of its composition and the wide variety of finishes available, but also of its use across the home, yacht and hospitality sectors. Its timeless, understated and essential design fits harmoniously with any ambience, however sumptuous or minimalist, appealing to a niche market that is multicultural and heterogeneous.

The sofas feature boxy lines with a horizontal sweep. Their volumes are generous but contained within compact dimensions, designed to limit the space they occupy, one of the main design constraints in the yachting industry.

Elements like armrests and seat depth are reduced to a minimum without compromising comfort and harmony of form. Storage is always a precious resource on a boat and so compartments of the same size as the sofa are built into the seats, a totally new feature in this sector, demonstrating Poltrona Frau’s ability to draw on many years’ experience manufacturing upholstered furniture and to transfer know-how and product research between its three divisions.

The system offers a very wide range of components and a modularity that provides maximum flexibility and unexpected configuration versatility, adapting easily to boats of different types and sizes.

These industrial considerations are combined with a design that ensures maximum freedom to customise details and materials. The sofas are upholstered in Pelle Frau® leather and fabric for indoor use and waterproof fabrics for outdoors. These materials offer extraordinary textures accented by some striking craft finishes, such as the leather weaves on the backs and sides of the armchairs, which wrap around curved wood profiles featuring fluid and organic shapes.

Designing for the marine sector is imprinted in Poltrona Frau’s DNA. The revolutionary I-Bridge® totally integrated bridge system, translates into technologically advanced and safe touchscreen consoles with an unmistakable and sophisticated design that can be totally customised to the owner and captain's wishes.

Thanks to the introduction of the revolutionary Front Bridge concept (a retractable control station that encloses all the main navigation commands and controls), the wheelhouse becomes a convivial navigation experience that the owner can share with his guests.

In this specific I-Bridge solution, a head-up display has been incorporated to consult the data necessary for navigation without shifting attention away from driving the yacht. Every integrated I-Bridge dashboard is an high-tech object with a unique, refined and clean design, created by Team Italia with a flexible architecture and an effective electronic integration that can always be customised to be in line with the idea of exclusivity and excellence that each yacht represents and for which they are produced.

Team Italia also offers a maintenance plan to closely follow the vessels: the Ocean Remote Support's PAM

service aims at keeping the NAV-COM systems efficient with the as lasting as possible life cycle.

The Italian company has recorded a brilliant 2022 with the delivery of 20 yachts, including the 48-metre Benetti M/Y Hawa, the brand new Custom Line 140' #01, the 33, 37 and 42-metre Navetta line, the 52-metre CRN M/Y Ciao the Steel range of Sanlorenzo Yacht and the Tecnomar for Lamborghini line. The next year also looks successfull with already 35 projects in progress ranging from 35 to 80 metres.

Regarding the automation architecture, this is developed by the sister company ONYX, that has just added the Remote Alarm Notification (RAN) system with Text-toSpeech technology. This system allows to be informed promptly, via SMS or voice call, of any problem or malfunction that may occur on board, thus managing the complete surveillance of the vessel even if it is unmanned.

ROSSINAVI TO BUILD THE NEW 43M HYBRID-ELECTRIC CATAMARAN

AFTER HAVING PUBLICLY UNVEILED AT THE MIAMI DESIGN WEEK 2021 A NEW CONCEPT FOR A 43M HYBRID-ELECTRIC CATAMARAN, SEA CAT, ROSSINAVI HAS ANNOUNCED DURING THE WEEK OF THE MONACO YACHT SHOW THAT THE PROJECT IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION WITH SCHEDULED FOR LAUNCH IN 2024.

In analogy to what phytoplankton, bioluminescent sea creatures capable of photosynthesis, do, Sea Cat can store solar energy and convert it into electricity. This vessel is equipped with solar panels and a capacious battery pack; for a better experience she can also ply the seas in four operation modes, conceived for different scenarios.

First /// One-day trip: in this scenario Sea Cat can cruise for 100% of the time in full-electric mode.

Second /// Multi-day trip: in this scenario the catamaran can cruise for multiple days, passing the nights at anchor, spending 90% of the entire time in full-electric mode.

Third /// Transatlantic trip: the Atlantic crossing can be performed with 80% of the time spent in full-electric mode, 20% of the time is spent in diesel-electric mode, using diesel generators. In this scenario, CO2 emissions are reduced by around 40 tonnes if compared to a traditional yacht of the same size.

Fourth /// Hibernation: this specific mode is meant for periods when the yacht is moored. Thanks to the energy absorbed by the solar panels, the catamaran can be selfsufficient in terms of electric consumptions and even donates the excess absorbed energy to a marina or to a private property, feeding up to an entire villa.

After the successful tank tests conducted on a scale model at the University of Gothenburg in March 2022, Rossinavi Chief Operating Officer Federico Rossi said:

The electric technology also significantly increases the on-board comfort. In fact, the propulsion system installed on the Sea Cat, in addition to the CO2 emissions, also greatly reduces noise (already weakened by the Rossinavi must-have Zero Noise Technology) and smells.

The result is a silent vessel that allows a greater sense of immersion in the surrounding environment. In the desire to offer a better cruising experience, an Artificial Intelligence system has been integrated on board, capable of monitoring shipboard habits so that it can suggest behaviors to further save energy without encroaching on routines of the guests.

Regarding its design, the exterior of this superyacht was penciled by Fulvio de Simoni, who chose to create a sleek look that differs from the traditional image of catamarans.

New York-based design firm, Meyer Davis envisioned an interior that compliments the cutting-edge yacht to bring relaxed luxury and sustainable design to its forefront. The concept incorporates noble materials, thus creating an understated comfort that calls to mind island living, and luxury resort style. Material selection celebrates

the elements of nature, the radiant sun, glistening sea, crisp blue sky, and golden sand. Thoughtful materials are paired with an interior layout purposefully designed to accentuate the openness of the plans and elegant curves of the exterior shell.

The interior design team’s approach towards a sustainable material selection, was their utmost priority, allowing the catamaran to feel casual, easy, and warm while pushing the envelope of a new age of ethical luxury travel.

Accommodation-wise, Sea Cat can also accommodate 8/10 guests in 4 cabins located on the hulls, all of them of the same size, ideal for charters.

In addition, many relaxation and entertainment areas are found on board: a sauna room in the beach club area; a pool in the main deck cockpit; a large forward outdoor lounge area equipped with Jacuzzi, fire pits and cinema; and an American bar on the large sundeck. ∎

unseeker International has revealed yet another exceptional model, the Ocean 460, a radical new yacht boasting expansive interior and exterior volume and dedicated social areas on each external deck. A two-level aft ‘Beach Club’ area, extensive full-height glazing and a profile that enhances its gorgeous, voluminous feel with a sleek, sporty and futuristic look, defines its design.

The Ocean 460 is a tri-deck yacht platform with a roundbilge semi-displacement hull. Whilst part of the Ocean range of models, it is also a superyacht, the first to feature a vertical bow and with a beam of 31’, she has 25% more interior volume than her sister ship the 131 Yacht, thus paving the way for a completely new design philosophy for the next generation of Sunseeker superyachts.

Rather than using the boat’s length within its model name, the Ocean 460 references its gross tonnage figure, the measurement of a yachts interior volume. While this is a new naming convention for Sunseeker, it truly captures why this new model is so unique. It reminds the owner that they are gaining a significant increase in interior volume in a yacht measuring 42 metres, compared with a conventional yacht layout of a similar size.

The Ocean 460 is available with MAN 12V engines providing a maximum speed of 21kts and a range of 3,200nm at a cruising speed of circa 12kts. Optional hybrid options will also be available, offering a myriad of benefits from extending the range, a period of silent running or delivering the hotel load whilst at anchor.

Sunseeker has designed the Ocean 460 with discerning clientele in mind, understanding that customers are spending more time on board, both underway and at anchor, with increased comfort and quality of life on board of supreme importance.

The new Ocean 460 will benefit from reduced noise, more usable space and the very latest technologies. She also boasts some of Sunseeker’s most sophisticated interiors to date with numerous options for owners to fully customise their yacht.

The new exterior styling is breathtaking and although on a grand scale with her swooping curves and aggressive lines, she is immediately recognisable as a Sunseeker. One of the key highlights on this yacht is the upper ‘Sky Lounge’ deck. This vast open space can enjoy multiple arrangements with options for wet bars, dining and social spaces with free-standing modular or bespoke furniture, depending on the owners’ requirements.

Creating an important first impression, a spacious lobby welcomes guests on board via double doors on the starboard side amidships. Located forward, the luxurious and opulent full-beam Master Stateroom with full-height glazingan is an open plan one-level space with the feel of a boutique hotel suite. It boasts a luxurious ‘couture’ walk-in wardrobe, vanity desk, en suite and dedicated office. Owners can opt to make this very light and subtle or incredibly dramatic with considered recessed lighting and stunning light and dark natural stone, woods and opulent textures.

The lower deck guest accommodation consists of four equally sized en suite double or twin guest cabins. A captain’s cabin adjacent to the wheelhouse can also be opted for.

The sumptuous interiors are a close collaboration between Design Unlimited and Sunseeker’s in-house design team. The first impression is one of light, space, details and premium technology, in addition to an infinite choice of décor and lighting.

The aft deck entertainment area seamlessly merges with the vast saloon due to its fully flush floor and the linear detail of the ceiling panels. As you walk out from the saloon, a unique twin-level asymmetrical layout presents itself, with large deck spaces for dining or lounging on the upper level and steps that lead down to the spacious stand-out ‘Beach Club’ area with direct water access on the lower level.

This lower level features a hydraulic side balcony that folds out at the water line to create additional just-above-water deck area. Curved seating and an integrated bar can be combined with slot-in bar stools, multiple sun loungers

and free-standing furniture, with room for several groups of guests to socialise. On the starboard side there is a side-opening tender garage which accommodates a Williams DieselJet 625, two jet skis and a plethora of toys.

With the vessels set to be constructed in steel and aluminium at the shipyard’s Istanbul-based facility, the new superyacht line will feature eye-catching exteriors by Italian designer Luca Vallebona and naval architecture by Dutch studio Van Oossanen Naval Architects , with the interior designs of each vessel fully customisable to meet every owner's requirements and desires.

“At the last Cannes Yachting Festival we promised to announce our superyacht line and we always keep our promises”, said Sirena Yachts CEO Ça ğın Genç. “In only six years, Sirena has become one of the top players in the market. Another notable feature of all of the vessels in the new Sirena Yachts line can be found in their prioritisation of the owner’s privacy and comfort, which clearly feeds into the innovative layout of the new superyachts.

As Çağın Genç explains, “The average age of our owners has decreased by 10 years, and is now in the 40-50 age bracket, meaning that they are looking for different features in their yachts. We have removed the formal dining area, as these owners want to be more sociable in the exterior areas and enjoy more informal meals with their friends. To ensure that the owner still maintains their privacy when they want it, we have created an owner’s private terrace where they can spend time alone and relax without being with other guests”.

Tanil Surmeli , Product Development Manager, added: “Like in all our boats, we always try to cherish the owner area without a compromise. We did so with the Superyacht Range. In addition, in recent years, efficiency came over speed, functionality and customization came over size. A NEW SLICE OF LIFE TO CHALLENGE THE VERY ZEITGEIST OF TYPICAL YACHT LAYOUTS

AT LAST MONACO YACHT SHOW, FEADSHIP UNVEILED ITS ELEVENTH REVOLUTIONARY CONCEPT YACHT, CALLED SLICE, A GAMECHANGING 85-METRE YACHT THAT TACKLES ONE OF THE BIGGEST OWNER GRIEVANCES IN YACHT DESIGN.

For over a decade, Feadship has been designing fully engineered concepts to inspire future owners. At the Monaco Yacht Show 2022, Feadship premiered a game-changing yacht, characterized by long hallways, dark interiors and stacked living spaces. The new project is engineered with a glass strip running entirely from bow to stern, allowing for natural light to filter in through multiple decks.

REIMAGINING A YACHT FROM INSIDE OUT

Instead of offering a few new features or showcase a single new technology, Feadship set out to completely reimagine a yacht from inside out.

“Slice turns the inside out and the outside in”, say Studio De Voogt Lead Designer Chris Bottoms and Head of Design Tanno Weeda.

In simplest terms, the designers sliced their CAD model right down the centreline and pushed the halves apart to make room for a strip of glass running from bow to stern.

IT IS NOT GLASS ALONE, BUT GLASS OVERLAYING A STRUCTURAL FRAMEWORK THAT LETS NATURAL LIGHT FILTER THROUGH MULTIPLE DECKS. IT IS A FAR MORE CHALLENGING PLAN THAN A SERIES OF SKYLIGHTS; IT TOTALLY REDEFINES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SPACES THROUGHOUT THE INTERIOR OF THE YACHT.

THE HEART OF THE YACHT IS THE MONUMENTAL ATRIUM AT MAIN DECK LEVEL

The brief to the engineer and design team was to challenge the very zeitgeist of typical yacht layouts by investigating natural light and vertical spaces. More specifically, the brief asked for a linear ‘transition from the mountain to the sea’.

Having a slice running down the middle opens up countless spatial and lighting possibilities. Corridors become so much more than just hallways transitioning from one space to another – they have their own purpose and become enjoyable spaces in their own right.

UNINTERRUPTED BY A STAIRCASE, THE 70SQM ATRIUM IS MORE THAN A LOBBY BUT A DESTINATION IN ITS OWN RIGHT FOR GUESTS MOVING FORE AND AFT. ITS CASCADING CIRCULAR BALCONIES OPEN A WIDE RANGE OF POSSIBILITIES FOR LIGHTING AND ART INSTALLATIONS.

DATA SCIENCE ENGINEERED POOL

Another striking feature of Slice is a 10-metre-long pool designed using data science. Often used to determine hull efficiency, comfort at sea and at anchor calculations, the design team embraced data science to define the pool’s shape and placement of hidden dampers to conquer slosh. Similarly impressive is the use of ultrahigh modulus material inspired by Formula 1’s research into high tensile carbon fibre.

While F1’s high tensile carbon fibre wasn’t stiff enough for yachting needs, the De Voogt team worked with carbon fibre manufacturers to develop their own specific ultra-high modulus material.

“The strips we bonded to the main girders of a wheelhouse deck are two times higher stiffness than steel but are lower in weight than aluminium”.

THE MATERIAL IS ALREADY BEING USED IN FEADSHIP’S YARDS, GIVING THE DESIGN TEAM THE CONFIDENCE TO INTEGRATE IT INTO THE ATRIUM, MULTI-LEVEL WALKWAYS AND THE FRAMEWORK FOR THE LONG GLASS INSETS ON SLICE’S TOP DECK.

A FRESH INTERIOR PERSPECTIVE

To conceptualise Slice’s interior, Feadship turned to Dutch designer Marco van Ham and asked him to avoid teak entirely. Instead, Van Ham and his team brought in a palette of backlit marbles and onyx, surfaces formed of liquid metals, silver leaf, shagreen, straw marquetry and even pyrite with juxtapositions of shiny and matte surfaces. Warm neutral fabrics evoke a spirit of calm relaxation. Undulating lines inform the floors and most of the furniture reflects organic shapes and is kept low to avoid obscuring views.

What you won’t find on the concept for Slice’s interior are squared off doors and box-like rooms.

WATERTIGHT FORWARD ENTRANCE

With Slice, Feadship wanted a yacht that specifically addressed a recurring owner request: an open and private aft pool and sundecks with sea views and out of sight of passers-by and deliverymen while moored in port. Slice delivers on this with a fully engineered passerelle and watertight forward entrance so it can be moored bow-in.

At the touch of a button, a full-height section of the stem at main deck level hinges open and a passerelle deploys, guests make a short walk from the quay, disappear into the privacy and security of the interior and arrive first a welcome area forward of the yacht’s tender bays.

FUTURE-PROOF PROPULSION OPTIONS

Slice’s propulsion system will be powered by four dualfuel generators which have been modified to run on both methanol and non-fossil diesel (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil – HVO) and the generated power will be delivered to two Azimuthing pods.

The HVO is to be used as pilot fuel to assist with the combustion of the methanol. Due to the lack of worldwide supply points of methanol, a larger than required HVO capacity has been accommodated to increase the range of HVO-only sailing.

This allows the methanol to be used sparingly when running low until the next methanol supply point is

reached and also enables global cruising. The option of replacing one of the generators with methanol fuel cells exists, which would generate power to contribute to the hotel load of the vessel.

A battery array, supplied with power from both generators, and the fuel cells allows for low speed, silent cruising and for peak shaving of the generators ∎

desires and lifestyle of the owner, without compromising the yacht design. For Poetry, we worked from a new design vision, creating a concept depicting the owner’s dreams. Less formal, more genuine, more like a home.”

“Poetry represents a next generation yacht design”, continues Sinot. “The strong exterior lines of Poetry are driven by hydrodynamics and architecture – a solid nautical platform, hosting an open-space plan defined by three-dimensional thinking, to precisely accommodate functions, needs, and desires. Transparency and openness are the hallmarks of the superstructure, offering undisturbed views and unobstructed deck space fore, aft, port, and starboard side.”

Poetry furthermore reinvents yacht design by relocating the wheelhouse to a more functional spot at the bow. “This makes the prime location of Poetry, the highest deck, available to the most important user: the owner”, Sander Sinot explains.

“Since privacy is key, the owner’s deck is highly secluded – no crew, guests or others need be on this deck, unless invited. The owner and his or her loved ones have the entire deck for themselves.”

Poetry is created to optimize the use of space aboard. Sinot: “This is a new, thematic approach to yacht design that starts with the dreams of the owner. For him or her we explore the inner values of space and how we live our lives with a mixture of elements that people normally do not think about.” This is a poetic concept inspired by the flexibility you find in resorts, having the freedom to enjoy privacy or socializing with family or friends. “By moving the wheelhouse to a new location, we could create a genuine private area to be enjoyed by the owner.”

Composed like a poem, aboard Poetry sun and daylight are its meter, cherished for their warmth and tantalizing enlightenment. Looming deckheads cast shadows and offer coolness with the breeze. Movable shades in the deckheads filter and direct daylight to

the interior, to be taken over by carefully controlled artificial lighting when the sun sets. Connection with the water is all-encompassing thanks to the seamless connection between interior and exterior, due to the floor-to-ceiling glass windows and six huge fold-down hatches at the lower deck Beach Club. The large exterior decks culminate in the aft deck exterior beach with infinity pool, slowly descending towards sea level. The extendable swimming platforms offer access to the water and act as a mooring spot for private limo tenders.

Poetry focuses on using natural and artificial light to structure space, highlight details, and set the mood. Light is orchestrated into scenes which are functional, while subconsciously supporting social settings. The transition from the inside to the outside is eased by using the directional shades at the deckheads, which light up in a subtle glow at night. Designer Sander Sinot: “It is a poetic way to enlighten our lives with a mixture of elements we usually do not think about”.

The prime real estate aboard Poetry, the highest deck, is reserved for the owner’s pavilion. One deck below we find private dining with an open kitchen, a large

The main deck contains VIP suites and guest cabins that enjoy the setup of the bed to the axis of the yacht to guarantee full sea views, as well as private loggias, and at the bow a state-of-the art wheelhouse designed as a cockpit with frontal and side views.

Towards the aft, large semi-al fresco dining and lounging is possible, connected to the aft exterior deck with infinity pool. Inside on the lower deck you will find an extensive wellness, as well as secure sea-access located next to the Beach Club.

All designed to nurture body & soul of the owner and family, loved ones and guests, offering privacy and dedication in spaces that elude fitness for purpose, like a private resort, while amplifying the experience of being close to the water.

The Beach Club of Poetry is a multipurpose space, to linger and come together prior and after a spa experience, work-out or beauty treatment, or just to have a good time and an excellent party. A small sea-side bar with terrace on the hatch serves drinks and light lunches. Comfortable seating corners, lounge beds, and huge sofa arrangements cater for any type of social gathering.

The epitome of chill is the sea pool, created by lowering one of the hatches under the sea level, extending a filtering bulwark and allowing the seawater to rush in for a truly exciting saltwater dip.

The large vide creates a 2-deck high open space, which is perfectly suited for placement of monumental art. At the vide, equipped with a sensational glass art piece on the floor, an elegant circular staircase connects the main deck lounge with the Beach Club, evoking a feeling of entering straight into the blue mysteries of the ocean.

Many concepts Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design has developed over the years are in different stages of realization. These are the words used by the shipyard to describe the "harmonious partnership" with Valentin Weigand, founder of Valentin Design, a cooperation that took time to develop and that led to the creation of the perfect yacht for A&R's clients.

The decision to create an 86m explorer yacht was based on this partnership's potential, in which both parties joined efforts in early 2021: by defining a vision aligned to today's demands for out of the ordinary explorer yachts during a common kick-off meeting in the shipyard's heardquarters in Lemwerder, Germany, the project set sail.

Designing in total harmony means that the result is not

only beautiful, but gets the maximum out of available volumes, brings engineering solutions to design features, introduces cost efficient detail solutions and guarantees the calculability of each and every aspect of TIME

Whether exploring Antartica or discovering immaculate South Pacific islands, the key to a successful expedition is "preparation": explorer yachts provide a solid platform for a safe trip to the most remote places and, offering great versatility, comfort, luxury and efficiency, they are more fitted for adventure than a conventional yacht. Then, if we also consider their typical special features, like a diving centre or submarine, we can understand how they are able to extend their range of capabilities, as well as autonomy.

According to A&R's philosophy, exploration means discovering new worlds and facing new challenges, so as to be able to continuously develop new qualities and consolidate existing solutions. For this reason, the shipyard has expressed its interest in launching ships with a short time to market and pioneering designs that will long serve as guiding lights in the explorer market.

Named TIME, the concept is presented as a "one-ofa-kind" seven-deck explorer suited to both cold and warm water cruising with 3,400GT of living space. Its extraordinary design is defined by soft and sinuous lines

that delicately caress the exteriors, mostly made of glass, like very light waves.

Designed in line with the very first sketch, TIME's features will create unique moments: an extra wide duplex owner's suite, certified heli platform, submarine, as well as an observatory deck and other fun elements. It is suited for both cold and warm waters, which ensures usability throughout the year, and guarantees a stand out value when it comes to spending time in the most valuable way.

The Abeking & Rasmussen's experience in building one of the world's most recognised explorer yachts gave the right impetus to Valentin Design to kick off the project. By forming a team with in-house naval architects and engineers, project development has been smooth from the beginning, enabling the design firm to push the envelope of what is possible in today’s explorer yachts. "Collaborating means finding ideas together, joining forces, finding the right compromises. What we achieved together is nothing short of remarkable and presents a new force to the world that quite literally goes beyond", says Valentin Weigand.

The owner’s suite is a manifestation of aesthetical bliss, physical comfort and extreme luxury, in a perfect balance

of soft curves and straight lines that invite to discover pleasurable materials melting with hard surfaces. The interior matches down to the finest detail: from woollen and silk carpets, metamorphic marbles to warm and homelike woods. All of these elements tell the story of craftsmanship, comfort and freedom.

The owner's private area is designed as a two-storey apartment encompassing 165-square-metres of the main and upper decks. Tranquility, discretion, airy open space and relax in the jacuzzi area or in the two ensuite bathrooms: all of the owner‘s state room areas are connected and equipped with amenities like tilting glass shutters and designed to bring an atmosphere of private openness with excellent air circulation.

The remaining guest accommodation is split between two VIP suites and four double cabins with 26 crew berths on the lower deck.

There are three swimming pools on board TIME, the largest of which can be found in the beach club where two shell doors fold down to let in natural light and a sea breeze. A waterside lounge and wellness lounge can also be found at this level alongside a guest gym and dedicated dive store. The second pool is found on bridge deck aft, while a third dipping pool is hidden in the decking on the helipad.

The main saloon and formal dining space are located on the upper deck: this layout allows the main deck to

become free to carry the explorer yacht's three tenders, submarine and an array of toys. A cosier lounge, the so called "gentleman's retreat", is found on this level below the helipad, and offers a more informal breakaway social spot on board. Here the colours are darker with a central interior fire pit, a wine cellar and wraparound tinted glass. Amidships we find a sporting area with a pool table at the centre.

TIME will be powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system and POD drives delivering a range of 5,000 nautical miles. Other highlights include a large outdoor dining area on the bridge deck, a sundeck cinema and a crow's nesfrom which it is possible to enjoy the 360° panorama ∎

Benetti presented the innovative 85-metre “Project ORO” to mark the thirty-first Monaco Yacht Show. The Italian group also introduced the new B.NOW designs and the evolution of the B.CENTURY family, confirming its strategy based on its historical tradition of craftsmanship, technological innovation and advanced process engineering, and partnerships with leading international naval design and architecture firms.

Azimut|Benetti Group CEO Marco Valle commented: “We have invested heavily in R&D in recent years to develop new boats and the results are outstanding: almost a month after the start of the new yachting season, a record-breaking 23 launches are planned, almost two a month. The prospects for the future are very positive: we began in September with the launch of a 50-metre B.Now and will conclude in August with the launch of a 68-metre B.Century. The order backlog is trending upwards, with new model deliveries planned until 2027”.

The yacht's exterior is characterised by a plumb bow and arching lines that taper into curved aft decks. Onboard highlights include a large beach club with unfolding sea terraces on both sides of the beam, with the terraces extending all the way to the stern of the yacht.

This design promotes a strong connection between the main deck and beach club, which are connected by two staircases on either side of the transom.The project springs from the Yard’s intensive interaction with clients on yachts over 80 metres long, as well as from the need to answer questions raised by the market about Benetti’s idea for a real-world project in this segment.

“Project ORO” is a window on the future of Benetti, which maintains its pragmatic approach to construction. It is a project that takes advantage of the latest propulsion technology and minimises the dimensions.

“During the development of “Project ORO,” said Giorgio M. Cassetta, “we wanted to seize the opportunity to express numerous innovative concepts, aspiring to bring them together in a unique yacht.

By developing a language of style featuring great visual purity and strong characterisation of the main masses, and by renouncing the criteria of civil architecture in favour of a freer and more fluid approach, we have tried to propel the project into an attainable future. We hope the bold content recognises a series of desires that customers in this size range frequently express and are unlikely to have found fulfilled by the boats they have looked at so far”.

Like many other Benetti yachts, Project Oro would be fitted with hybrid propulsion.

At the last Monaco Yacht Show Pininfarina Nautical presented a new project with Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design, with whom the Italian design firm, a symbol of Italian style for over 90 years, recently established a new collaboration. After having designed concepts for Fincantieri, Rossinavi and Oceanco, Pininfarina is now involved in a strategic

partnership that will integrate the solid skills of Fulvio De Simoni’s studio in nautical design with those of Turinbased firm, bringing freshness and innovation through its experiences in different sectors – from automotive to architecture.

The Monaco Yacht Show was an opportunity to announce important news on the partnership and a renewed research concept.

With its inaugural journey anticipated for late 2025, the first Four Seasons vessel will be 207 metres (679 feet) long and 27 metres (88.6 feet) wide with 14 decks. A PREVIEW OF THE FOUR SEASONS YACHT EXPERIENCE

The vessel’s 95 spacious accommodations will feature an extensive network of joining suite combinations creating adaptable, villa-like residences. Each suite will offer floor-to-ceiling windows providing unobstructed natural light and access to expansive terrace decks. The combination of generous indoor and outdoor private guest space and ceiling heights of more than 2.4 metres (7.9 feet) will achieve a new level of guest comfort.

Suite accommodations will start at an average of 54 square metres (581 square feet) of indoor/outdoor living space, designed seamlessly to be part of each room. Sixty percent of the vessel’s inventory is in excess of 76 square metres (818 square feet) of indoor/outdoor space. The most expansive residence, the “Funnel Suite” will be an astonishing four levels, offering more than 892 square metres (9,601 square feet) of combined indoor/outdoor living space, including a private wading pool and dedicated private spa area, creating a sea view home away from home.

Globally renowned design partners have been engaged including Tillberg Design of Sweden as lead architect responsible for the design of exterior and guest suites, and London-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio for the design of many of the yacht’s spectacular guest areas. THE MAKING OF THE FOUR SEASONS YACHT

July to September is mating season, and the whales reunite in spectacular fashion, leaping out of the sea, twisting and falling back to the surface with a huge splash. They also sing lustily under the waves to attract a mate, which scuba divers in the vicinity will be able to hear.

FETRAOMBY: HAVEN FOR THE INDRI-INDRI

Here, the forest is a protected area, part of the Ankeniheny-Zahamena Corridor, the habitat of IndriIndri. This lemur, the largest in Madagascar, cannot survive in captivity because of its nutritional supply demand, each family requiring several hectares of forest to feed on. As a result, Indri-Indri is an endangered species due to increasing habitat destruction. Some residents of Fetraomby have organized and founded an association to develop eco-tourism in their area - a way to conserve their forest while creating a different source of income.

A UNIQUE ECOLOGICAL EXPERIENCE: THE ALLEY OF THE BAOBABS

The Baobab Alley is one of the most beautiful sites on the Big Island. A true national heritage, this place, not far from Morondava, is a must-see during a trip in centralwest Madagascar. Located in the Menabe Region, in the western part of the Big Island, this area has been inscribed on the list of wetlands of international importance. “Alley of the Baobabs” is one of Madagascar’s picture postcard images. The best time for photography is in the twilight hours: at sunset, the colors behind these giant trees offer an amazing sight.

The life-cycle of these unique natural oddities is as impressive as their bulk – most live over 500 years. Some of these cult trees have an age that takes us back more than eight centuries, thus accentuating our respect and fascination.

According to legends, the gods did not appreciate the excessive pride of the baobabs. They decided to plant them upside down, putting the roots in the air. You will also see lover baobabs, which according to the local beliefs can bring good luck to couples.

Baobabs are usually solitary trees, standing tall and proud in the midst of empty spaces. Yet in Baobab Alley, they cluster together forming an avenue of columns that border the dirty road. The Baobabs are tall trees with massive trunks, crooked branches and furry fruit. Baobabs have adapted to the dry and hostile environment.

The secret of the baobab’s success in surviving in harsh environments and the reason for its massive trunk is that it has little wood fibre but a large water storage capacity. Each tree can hold up to 300 litres of water, enabling it to live through long periods without rain.

Of course, this tree is endemic to Madagascar. The baobab is one of the few species of trees that have resisted deforestation and especially bush fires that have decimated the surrounding dry forests. Moreover, not being used for construction, the baobab is not cut.

In addition, the Baobab Alley benefits from special protection at the initiative of Conservation International. Located in the heart of the savannah and rice fields, this natural sanctuary deserves protection.

THE ISLAND OF RÉUNION

The island of Réunion (a French territory situated in the Indian Ocean), 420 miles east of Madagascar, is a jumble of jagged, UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed peaks, thrusting up to 10,000ft into the sky. From the blue lagoon of La Saline to the orange-tinted sunsets at the end of the day, the pale yellow Savannah and the green palm trees at the Etang Saint-Paul, the pallet of colours of Réunion Island earned it the name of "Land of Light", inspiring the greatest of artists. Famous for its lagoons and white sandy beaches, Réunion is the ideal place to recharge your batteries while sipping a sun-kissed fresh

On New Year’s Eve, the west coast is transformed, for one night, into a huge open air party punctuated by the music of the sound systems, the popping of the firecrackers and the lights of the lanterns, which float to the stars.

When it gets hot, there’s only one thing you want to do in the Land of Light: work on your tan for a while, then sip a drink under the parasols of a beach bar before finally enjoying a refreshing dip in the Indian Ocean.
