SUPMANEE CHAISANSUK’s Portfolio

Introduction Supmanee Chaisansuk I am Supmanee, and I am life long resident of Bangkok, Thailand. I have earned both my Bachelor of Science Degree (Architecture) and a Master of Architecture, (Architectural Technology & Environmental Design) from the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand. Since my student days, I have practiced my profession for 8-years, as a sustainable architect and healthy building researcher in Research and development (R&D) department of Magnolia Quality Development (MQDC), which is the famous developer company of Thailand whose focus is applied sustainable resident quality care and the wellbeing of people in architecture. I learned from my research within the contemporary social building sciences, a knowledge and means towards designing integrated buildings, which are environmentally friendly while also utilizing innovative technology to integrate architecture to the needs of we humans. In addition, my evolving career included my position as an assistant project manager for 1.5 Years with in the Arsom Silp Institute of the Arts, which is one of Thailand’s socially integrated educational companies. In this position, I was involved in the fully integrated practice within the social aspects of community and architectural development in the design studio. I learned the importance of being consciously aware when thinking about humanity in our local Thai architecture and Thai art, both being based upon culturally historic Thai wisdom. Knowledge I as an artist and as an architect now combined in all of my design conceptualization through to fabrication of my design, and my artworks. When one considers both my architectural and environmental educations, plus my professional practice(s) to date, collectively they provide insight into my core values as a Thai citizen, architect, environmentalist, and as a woman visual artist. I, the woman artist known as Supmanee, have an SUPMANEE CHAISANSUK’s Portfolio

ongoing love affair with nature’s and humanity’s life forms and eco systems, that are essential to making our planet our shared home. This in itself is not enough, so I take this challenge spiritually forward as my muse in guiding my art. At present, I am focusing my efforts full time as an investment into being a practicing visual artist. Given that it is both time, and timely acts of creativity, which produces art, for me this is now the most important investment of my life, living with in my special ‘arts’ calling, which I love to do as I explore. I have in the past and continue to passionately and energetically explored innovative art style development as inspired by my observations in, and of nature, and realize I have done so since I was young girl. I have lived in a local house located under a green canopy of street lined trees in one of the central business areas of Bangkok. I have done so since I was born thirty-five years ago. There I was, and am, surrounded with the full lushness of the diversity of green life forms in a loved ecology, which endlessly cultivates me, and inspires within me to appreciate the bountiful beauty of nature in her ingenious gifts of wildlife patterns such as her trees, herbs, fungi, stones, flowers, as provided both in big and small creatures. Moreover this is my muse and my home, which inspires me to make artworks to share the spiritually beautiful with the world. I feel at peace within my mind while I am wandering and wondering within my muse and my home. I am endlessly impressed and engaged when I look into Thai as experienced along Bangkok’s waterways. I am not surprised that watercolors’ chose, ‘Supmanee the girl’ who is now a woman

Dwelling in my Mind the 3rd solo exhibition in 2014 Dialogue Coffee and Gallery, Bangkok, Thailand

SUPMANEE CHAISANSUK’s Portfolio

Watercolor exhibition by me “Supmanee Chaisansuk”, I was raised in the area known as the Soi Suanplu 1 community which is located around the central business district of Bangkok. I live in a unique atmosphere of an incredibly complex space which includes narrow walk ways, historic houses with a dense and crowded populous. There, you will find rusty galvanized iron building materials, areas that thrive with the colours of recycled materials as well as the shiny and gleaming skyscraper monoliths that the district is more widely represented. That environment has influenced me to create the “Dwelling In My Mind” exhibition and shows habitat compositions of urban environments which are reflected in her ideas of culture, natural beauty and the every day life in my community. All of them reflect my experiences and offer a fresh insight of dwelling within that habitat.

My artwork is inspired from nature. Leaves, branches formed into cubes or hollow drills into the ground were created for the space encapsulations called “The Nest”, the habitat of animals. I watched and observed enclosure patterns such as bird nests, termite mounds, weaver ants, etc. that give a feeling of warm and mysterious from the superimposition layering. They interpolate between a small niche in the natural spaces. To wonder is the feeling if we change the patterns which wrap around them. This collection is an experiment inspired by the nature around me to imagine the inside space and have empathy with nature through color combination and art composition starting from “The Nest “ which is the habitat of other species. how much do we learn from them?

Skepticism and passion of comprehension in natural environment was observed. Complicated and mysterious life accumulated by little in subconsciousness inspires creating arts. My art works express the diverse sense of natural impression, mystery, interesting and appealing as if the human is a part of a nature, which brings us to a little more imagination than what we see.

Supmanee’s Art in Nature the 6th solo exhibition in 2017 Jamjuree Art Gallery,Bangkok, Thailand

So many time in life our emotions change. Emotion is an affective state of consciousness in which joy, sorrow, fear, hate, or the like, is experienced, as distinguished from cognitive and volitional states of consciousness. I believe that we can control emotion (especially sadness) by surround ourselves with nature. For me natural surrounding such as trees, flower, leaves, grasses, wildflowers along the way, helps relaxing my mind. The power of mother earth makes me realize the value and beauty of life. Nature around me has become a major inspiration in my art . I start to gathering information through observation all beauties form of nature; overlaying, encapsulation, growth movement, of trees, grass, petal pollen, flowers, etc. And try to express the sense of complexity, cozy, happiness, freedom and mystery within the beauty of nature in my own language . By using water and colors to create organic forms out of my subconscious. Every time i paint it heals me. I believe in power of the “ART AND NATURE”

She worked as a sustainable architect in DTGO group of company for 8 years and an assistant project manager in Arsom Silp Institute of the Arts in Thailand for one and half years. Currently she works as full time artist with it being the most important thing in her life which she loves to do. My home is a local house located in the central business district of Bangkok and surrounded by a naturally green area and ecology which cultivates my desire to appreciate the beauty of nature. I always favor to zoom in on patterns of wildlife such as trees, herbs, fungus, stone, flowers, small creatures, etc. I feel a peaceful mind and impressed when I look at the gorgeous life, so they are my source of art inspiration. Water media technique has been my method for creating my art since I was young coming from watercolor because of the sense of nature flowing and free of color and water movement . This approach creates semi-abstract styles as experiments which link natural pattern colors and mind by paint from imagination and subconsciousness to communicate feelings with environments
