EL PATIO DE LOS NARANJOS • Es, junto a la Giralda, el único resto de la mezquita mayor de la ciudad. Aquí los musulmanes realizaban las abluciones como acto de purificación. Together with La Giralda it is the only remains of the old main mosque of the city. It is where the Moslems carried out ablutions as an act of purification. • Todo el patio está poblado de naranjos en alcorques unidos por canalillos de riego sobre pavimento de ladrillo. Orange trees cover the whole courtyard joined by little canals for irrigation on the brick pavement. • En los muros que lo rodean pueden leerse hasta 880 tarjetas de frases del Corán de escritura arábiga labradas a mano. F UE ERIGIDA COMO ALminar de la mezquita entre 1184 y 1198 por Ahmed Ben Baso que es el mismo que construye otros minaretes casi gemelos en el norte de África, concretamente en el Magreb: la Kutubía, en Marrakech, la torre Hassan, en Rabat, y la Mansuriah de tremecén. Podría decirse que son las tres Giraldas del otro lado del estrecho. El alminar de 76 metros estaba coronado por cuatro grandes bolas doradas que, según cuentan, podían verse a más de 40 km de distancia. La admiración que despertó la edificación de la Giralda fue tal, que cuando los musulmanes solicitaron, al tratar las capitulaciones de Sevilla, que se les dejara demoler la torre, el infante don Alfonso contestó una frase que ya se ha hecho célebre en la Historia: “Por un sólo ladrillo que le quitasen los pasaría a todos a cuchillo”. Los cimientos de La Giralda, que bajan quince metros desde el nivel del suelo están construidos a base de las ruinas romanas de Sevilla e Itálica. El cuerpo de la torre es de ladrillo, y en él se pueden ver cuatro grandes paños de sebka, paños de ladrillo tallado. En el centro del muro pueden verse unas ventanas polilobu-

Durante esta transformación también se instaló el Giraldillo, una veleta con forma de mujer, conocida popularmente en Sevilla como “La Giganta”y que, en realidad, es una alegoría del triunfo de la fe. They are the three Giraldas on the other side of the Strait. This 76 metre high minaret was crowned with four large golden balls which were said to be seen from more than 40 km away. The Giralda was such an admired building that when the Moslems surrendered the city, they asked for permission to destroy the tower, and Prince Don Alfonso replied with a sentence which has already become famous in History, “If only one brick were removed from the tower they would all be stabbed to death”. The foundations of La Giralda, which go underground fifteen metres were built with Roman ruins from Seville and Itálica. The tower itself is made of bricks and as decoration there are four large sets of sebka motives, or sculpted bricks.

In the middle of the wall there are lobe shaped windows overlapping with Roman light splitting columns. In order to admire the views of the city from the top of this impressive minaret 35 ramps, and not steps, have to be climbed. The reason was so that the muezzin in charge of calling the people to prayer could climb to the top on his horse. The second important moment of La Giralda happened between 1558 and 1568. As the city became wealthy with the gold brought from America the church authorities decided to build a new top as a symbol of Christian power. Therefore a Renaissance style belfry was added to the Islamic body and reached up to 93 metres. The Córdoba architect Hernán Ruiz II el Joven was in charge of the reform. After this transformation the Giraldillo was added, a weather vane with the shape of a woman, known in Seville as “The Giant”, and really represents the triumph of faith.

la CATEDRAL LA SANTA IGLESIA CAtedral de Sevilla se construyó sobre la mezquita mayor almohade de Sevilla del siglo IX. De la antigua mezquita se conserva el minarete, la actual y emblemática Giralda, campanario de la Catedral con cerca de 100 metro de altura y rematada por una veleta llamada Giraldillo, de la que toma su nombre. De su pasado musulmán conserva, asimismo, el Patio de los Naranjos. Se decidió la construcción de la actual Catedral, en el año 1.401 bajo la dirección Alonso Martínez. Cuentan que cuando se ordenó su construcción el Cabildo de Canónigos afirmó: "Hagamos una obra tan grande que los que la vean acabada nos tengan por locos". Hoy es el mayor templo gótico del mundo y tercero de la Cristiandad.La iglesia presenta planta de salón con cinco naves; la central es la más ancha y alta y las capillas surgen de los contrafuertes. De su grandiosidad cabe destacar el Retablo Mayor, con 18 metros de altura, y en el que se representan escenas del Antiguo y Nuevo Testamento, con más de un millar de esculturas, considerado como uno de los mayores de la Cris-

tiandad. En su interior alberga uno de los más ricos tesoros artísticos. Sus más de quinientas obras abarcan desde el siglo XVI hasta nuestros días. Igualmente bellísimas son sus más de ochenta vidrieras flamencas del siglo XVI. En la Capilla Real, del siglo XVI, se venera a Nuestra Señora de los Reyes, patrona de Sevilla y la Archidiócesis, imagen gótica del siglo XIII, que perteneció a Fernando III el Santo, Patrón de la ciudad, y cuyo cuerpo incorrupto se halla a los pies de la Virgen, en una urna de plata dorada. En el extremo derecho, se encuentra un mausoleo con los restos mortales de Cristóbal Colón. El conjunto muestra a cuatro heraldos

que representan los reinos de Castilla, León, Aragón y Navarra, portando a hombros el féretro del descubridor. THE HOLY CATHEDRAL Church of Seville was built over the main Almohad mosque of Seville of the 9th century. What remains of the old mosque is the tower, known today as the Giralda, the belltop of the cathedral almost 100 metres tall and crowned by the weather vane called Giraldillo, where it gets its name. From its moslem past it also has the Patio de los Naranjos. Was then decided to have the cathedral built, in the year 1.401 under the supervision of Alonso Martínez. Legend tells that when it was ordered to be built the Chapter exclaimed, "Let us construct such a big building that those who see it finished may believe we are mad". Today it is the largest Gothic temple in the world and the third largest of the Christian world. The church has a structure of five naves, the middle one is the widest and the highest, and the chapels are formed by the supporting pillars. One of the most important aspects of its grandeur is the 18-metre-high Main Altarpiece where scenes of the Old and New Testaments are represented, with more than a thousand sculptures, and considered one of the largest of all Christianity. Inside the Cathedral is one of the wealthiest artistic treasures, its paintings. It has more than five hundred pieces which range from 16th century to today. The eighty Flemish stained glass windows are from the 16th centuries. In the 16th century Royal Chapel people worship Our Lady de los Reyes, patron saint of Seville and of the Parrish. It is a Gothic style statue of the 13th century which belonged to Ferdinand III the Saint, who is another patron saint of the city, and whose body lies at the feet of the Virgin in a golden silver coffin. In the central nave is the Main Chapel with iron rods and pulpits which date back to the 16th century, and the great Choir which was built between the 15th and 16th centuries. On the right there is a mausoleum with the mortal remains of Christopher Columbus. It shows four heralds representing the kingdoms of Castile, Leon, Aragon and Navarre holding the coffin of the discoverer on their shoulders.

EL LAGARTO THE LIZARD Al visitar el Patio de los Naranjos, no olvide fijarse en el cocodrilo que cuelga junto a un colmillo de elefante, un freno de caballo y una vara de alguacil en la entrada del mismo. El cocodrilo de madera, popularmente conocido como “el lagarto”, es una réplica de uno real que el Sultán de Egipto le regaló a Alfonso X, cuando vino a pedirle la mano de su hija. When visiting the Patio de los Naranjos do not forget to have a look at the crocodile hanging next to a large elephant tusk, a horse bit and a bailiff´s rod at the entrance. The wooden crocodile, known as “the lizard” is a replica of a real one which the Sultan of Egypt gave to Alfonso X when he came to ask for his daughter´s hand in marriage.

LAS CAMPANAS THE BELLS Cada una de las 25 campanas de La Giralda tiene su nombre. Las de San Miguel y Santa Cruz, del año 1400 son las más antiguas. Otra curiosidad: las lágrimas de San Pedro, es un toque especial de clarinetes y campanas que se hace el día del apóstol. Each one of the 25 bells of the Giralda has its own name. Those of San Miguel and Santa Cruz, dating back to the year 1400 are the oldest. Another interesting aspect: the tears of San Pedro is a special way of playing the clarinets and sounding the bells on the day commemorating the Apostle. IF

Desde hace mil años ha sido la sede del poder y residencia real.El palacio del Rey don Pedro no quedó terminado hasta el siglo XIV, aunque posteriormente se hicieron ampliaciones. A pesar de los añadidos que ha sufrido, en su conjunto, sigue siendo uno de los mejores ejemplos del arte mudéjar. THE ALCÁZAR IS A group of palaces an so it is sometimes called Reales Alcázares. For a thousand years it has been the centre of power and a royal residence. The palace of King don Pedro was not finished until the 14th century, though afterwards it was enlarged. In spite of he reforms it went through it is still one of the best samples of Mudejar style. PATIO DE LA MONTERÍA Tras atravesar la Puerta del León, el Patio del mismo nombre servía de separación entre la ciudad y el palacio; a continuación se encuentra el Patio de la Montería, en uno de cuyos frentes se alza la fachada principal del palacio de Don Pedro I el Cruel. Alá, sirve de contrapunto a la inscripción gótica que recuerda al autor de la obra. The Patio del León comes after walking through the Puerta del León and it was used as a boundary between the city and the palace. Next is The Patio de

la Montería. On one side is the main facade of the palace of Don Pedro el Cruel. It was built in 1364 and enlarged in the 16th and 17th centuries. On the upper part of this facade an Arabic inscription worshipping Allah is contrasted with a Gothic writing remembering the author of the building. The main part of the palace is the Patio de las Doncellas surrounded by lobe shaped arches. The walls are covered with fine vegetable motive decorations and tiles from the 16th century which belong to the Mudejar style. According to Arab tradition this courtyard held public events and ceremonies. SALÓN DE EMBAJADORES En el arco de acceso al salón, el lema nazarita “solo Dios es vencedor” se repite continuamente en caracteres árabes. Las puertas pudieron haber sido labradas por artesanos toledanos. La decoración de este salón suntuoso es de tiempos del rey Don Pedro, excepto la cúpula, realizada en el siglo XV y restaurada con posterioridad. Sorprende la serie de retratos de todos los reyes de Castilla, hasta Felipe III, enmarcados en arquitos góticos, con sus escudos de armas y la fecha de su reinado. The access arch to the room has an inscription saying “only God is victorious" repeated several times in Arabic. The doors could have been made by Toledo craft workers. The decora-

tion of this room is from the times of king Don Pedro, except the dome which was built in the 15th century and restored afterwards. There are a series of portraits of all the kings of Castile until Felipe III in Gothic style frames, with their coat of arms and the date of thier reign. PATIO DE LAS MUÑECAS El Patio de las Muñecas, centro de la vida íntima, es de una elegancia exquisita. Las columnas se remontan a la época califal y proceden sin duda de la ya por entonces devastada Medina Zahara cordobesa. Recibe este nombre debido a las cabecitas femeninas en los capiteles de las columnas. The patio de las Muñecas, which was a place of intimacy, is exquisitely elegant. The columns date back to the caliph times and without doubt they came from the devastated palace of Medina Azahara in Cordoba. It gets its name “Muñecas” (dolls) from the female heads on the top of the columns.

L A PLAZA DE LA REAL Maestranza de Sevilla, una de las mas bellas, antiguas y también una de las más significativas en la historia del toreo, tardó en construirse más de un siglo. En sus obras intervinieron varios arquitectos hasta su terminación, en 1881 por Juan Talavera. El arquitecto Aníbal González dio su fisonomía definitiva a los tendidos en 1914 y en 1928 completó la casa anexa a la plaza. Hay que destacar el Palco del Príncipe (1765) obra de Cayetano de Acosta. Bajo él se encuentra la Puerta del Príncipe, cerrada por una preciosa verja, obra de Pedro Roldán. Salir por esta puerta a hombros es la máxima aspiración de cualquier torero. Bajo las gradas de la plaza se encuentra el Museo Taurino, su visita es la mejor forma de conocer la historia de la Fiesta Nacional. THE BULLRING, LA REAL Maestranza of Seville, is one of the most beautiful, oldest, as well as one of the most significant in the history of bullfighting. It took more that a century to build. Various architects intervened with its building until it was finished, in 1881 by Juan Talavera . •The Prince’s Balcony is reserved for those of Royal blood. • The most important monarch in the history of bullfighting was Fernando VII who even had his own live stock farm and funded The School of Bullfighting in Seville. • The ring of the Maestranza is slightly oval shaped and it is slightly uneven: it is higher in the centre than the part nearer the stalls. This slight inclination provides “a relief” when somebody has to run towards the protective barriers, whilst the animal has to break when doing the same. • In the Bullfighting Museum you can see historic posters, paintings and belongings of figures such as Joselito and Belmonte.

Museo Naval de la ciudad. A defensive tower built in the 13th century, almost at the end of the Moslem period. Its Arabic name, Bury Al Dahab, means the Golden Tower, because the upper part was covered with golden tiles which reflected the sun, and they could be seen kilometres away. Nowadays, it is the home of the city´s Naval Museum.

Interesante muestra del estilo plateresco. La construcción de la Casa Consistorial se inició en 1527 por Diego de Riaño, continuándose el edificio en el siglo XIX por Demetrio de los Ríos. La fachada que podemos ver desde la Plaza de San Francisco está sin terminar, porque al morir el arquitecto, como no había planos, los escultores no quisieron acabarlo. ese a que la forma de vida es bastante diferente y son miles de kilómetros los que nos distan, la cocina japonesa es una de las más demandadas del momento. Su base se centra en una parte de la filosofía oriental, concentrada en conservar, con una cocción mínima, todo el sabor, la textura y las características naturales de cada uno de los ingredientes. El sushi es uno de los platos más conocidos y se prepara con arroz y vinagre, acompañados de un relleno de pescado, marisco, huevo o verduras, ingredientes que pueden aparecer hervidos, fritos o marinados. Junto a él, la tempura, una fritura de gambas, pescados o verduras, envueltas en una mezcla especial, o el sukiyaki, plato compuesto por finas lonchas de ternera rehogada y acompañadas de verdura, tofu y fideos son los platos nipones más característicos. Además de este país, en la zona oriental hay otros cuyas recetas cada día se combinan más con la dieta mediterránea como pueden ser Vietnam, India o Tailandia; todo esto, sin dejarnos atrás uno de los primeros que conquistó occidente, China. La cocina marroquí es famosa en todo el mundo por su variedad y toques de especias aromáticas en sus platos. Muy populares son el tajine,

que designa al mismo tiempo el continente -plato de barro decorado con la tapadera cónica- y el contenido carne, de pollo o pescado y legumbres estofadas- y el cuscus, que varía en función de las regiones. Al otro lado del Atlántico, Centroamérica y Sudamérica, aunque estén influenciadas por las costumbres españolas, cuentan con unas variedades culinarias propias y específicas. En Perú, el cebiche es el plato estrella – pescado, zumo de limón, sal, pimienta, picante...- pero también lo son las papas rellenas, el ají y, como sobremesa, el licor más importante: el pisco. Brasil y Argentina son máximas exponentes en la carne y sus parrillas y en Cuba, no puede ser menos aunque añaden a sus menús ingredientes como la yuca o la malanga. La guinda picante la pone la comida mexicana. En Europa, en primer lugar hay que mirar a Italia, que ha sabido bien exportar sus sabores. La multitud de formas de cocinar la pasta, sus salsas y su carpaccio son famosos por todo el mundo. Si queremos carne, una muestra la encontramos en Alemania donde las salchichas y el codillo, servido con chucrut y un suave puré de patatas, conforman la carta de cualquier menú. Y para pescado, la vecina Portugal, con su exquisito ba-

On the other side of the Atlantic, Central America and South America, though they have Spanish influence, also have their own specific culinary varieties. El flamenco hunde sus raíces en la cultura hindú, árabe judía, griega y castellana. Cómo llegaron a fundirse en el flamenco las aportaciones de tantas culturas, es una larga historia llena de leyendas y preguntas sin resolver. Flamenco has its roots in Hindu, Arabic, Jewish, Greek, and Castillian cultures. Because the contributions to flamenco of so many cultures began to merge, it has a long history of legends and unanswered questions.

LOS GITANOS DEL SUR de España crearon la música flamenca, desde su llegada a Andalucía en el siglo XV. Se cree que procedieron de una región del norte de la India llamada Sid que en la actualidad pertenece a Pakistán. Para los estudiosos del tema, el primer documento que certifica la entrada de los gitanos en España está datado en 1447. A partir de esta fecha comienza la apasionante historia del flamenco. CONOCER EL FLAMENCO La música es una parte muy importante en la vida de los gitanos, tanto de sus celebraciones como del vivir diario. Todo lo que necesitan para comenzar a hacer música es una voz y algo de ritmo, que siempre se puede añadir con las manos y los pies. De hecho, en las formas más primitivas del flamenco no se necesitan más instrumentos que los que proporciona el propio cuerpo humano. La música gitana siempre ha sido amiga de los adornos, la impro-

visación y el virtuosismo. La música flamenca empezó con una voz y unas palmas, y más tarde se incorporó la guitarra. Es sólo en el siglo XX cuando se introduce el zapateo. Para entender el flamenco es necesario tener unas nociones básicas que permitan al oyente distinguir entre unas músicas y otras. Los diferentes estilos o palos del flamenco están agrupados en familias de acuerdo a estructuras, melodías y temáticas más o menos comunes. Las provincias andaluzas de Cádiz, Málaga y Granada son responsables de la mayoría de los palos, junto con algunas otras de Andalucía y de las regiones colindantes de Extremadura y Murcia. Sin embargo, el flamenco no es sólo ritmo, melodía o danza. Hay un último ingrediente difícil de medir y más aún de definir del que a menudo se habla, pero nadie se atreve a explicar: el duende. Pero ¿qué es el duende? Si nota un escalofrío al escuchar a un cantaor o al ver una bailaora, lo sabrá. Y entonces habrá empezado a entender el flamenco.

GYPSIES FROM THE South of Spain have created flamenco music, since their arrival at Andalusia in the 15th century. It is believed that they came from a region in the North of India called Sid, which nowadays belongs to Pakistan. For scholars of the subject, the first document which certifies the entrance of Gypsies in Spain is dated back to 1447. From this moment on the passionate history of flamenco began. UNDERSTANDING FLAMENCO Is a very important part of the lives of Gypsies, for their celebrations as well as their everyday lives. All they need to start to make music is a voice and some rhythm which can always be added with hands and feet. In fact, in the earliest forms of flamenco the only instruments necessary are those which are supplied by the human body. Gypsy music has always been a friend to adornment, improvisation and virtuosity. Flamenco music began with a

voice and the palms of your hands, and later on the guitar was incorporated. The tapping of feet was only introduced this century. To understand flamenco it is necessary to have some basic ideas which allow the listener to distinguish between one type of music and another. The different styles or branches of flamenco are grouped into families according to the structures, melodies and themes they have more or less in common. The Andalusian provinces of Cádiz, Málaga and Granada are resposible for the majority of these branches, together with the neighbouring regions of Extremadura and Murcia. However, flamenco is not only rhythm, melody and dance. There is a final ingredient which is hard to measure and even more difficult to define, of which is often spoken but no-one dares to try to define: the gift. But what is the gift? If you get goosebumps when you are listening to a singer or watching a dancer, you will know. And then you will have begun to understand flamenco.

RETROPROYECCIÓN En su obra Tala Madani (Teherán, Irán, 1981) reflexiona sobre la masculinidad, las dinámicas de grupo, la sexualidad y los juegos de poder, temas que explora desde el humor que ella ha declarado que utiliza para que el espectador "baje la guardia". En sus pinturas representa a hombres satisfaciendo sus necesidades fisiológicas y en momentos sumamente íntimos compartidos de una manera extraña. Dejando a un lado lo corporal, algunas de sus obras hablan de un éxtasis religioso, espiritual o sexual; son como enredos inextricables y perturbadores en los que la violencia competitiva queda reducida a una impotencia absurda y se critica a las camarillas masculinas de poder. Con frecuencia, el trabajo de Madani parece tener un carácter narrativo y en él encontramos referencias tanto a los cómics de Alan Moore y Robert Crumb como a la historia reciente del arte (del expresionismo abstracto al minimalismo, de la pintura de goteo de Jackson Pollock a la técnica de derrame pictórico de Morris Louis). In her work Tala Madani (Teherán, Irán, 1981) talks about male nature, group dynamics, sexuality and power games, topics explored from a comical point of view which she has said to use so that the audience can relax. In her paintings she represents men satisfying their physiological needs and in very private moments shared in a strange way. Leaving body features behind, some of her works talk about religious, sexual or spiritual climax. They are like annoying combinations in which competitive violence remains as an absurd impotence and male power is criticised. Madani’s work often has a narrative nature and we can find references from comics by both Alan Moore and Robert Crumb as well as the recent history of art (abstract expressionism to minimalism, from dripping painting of Jackson Pollock to the spilling technique of Morris Louis). Inauguró un revolucionario modo de pintar que se basa en un intenso trabajo de deconstrucción de la realidad, la renuncia a la perspectiva convencional, la ausencia de detalles y la geometrización de las formas. Cambió para siempre la forma de plasmar la naturaleza de los objetos cotidianos y condujo, además, a una nueva manera de contemplar las obras de arte en la que el espectador recorre formas, líneas y colores, dispuestos según un ritmo propio que obliga no sólo a una contemplación sensorial sino también a un ejercicio intelectual de reconstrucción. La Colección Cubista de Telefónica pone de relieve la diversidad de las propuestas y técnicas cubistas a lo largo del tiempo. La exposición está compuesta por 38 obras y se articula en tres ámbitos partiendo de la obra de Juan Gris, que constituye el núcleo central de esta colección. Continúa con la obra de otros artistas contemporáneos que trabajaron en París y finaliza con la expansión internacional del movimiento presentando la participación de artistas españoles y latinoamericanos.

Cubism is one of the central movements of the artistic avant-garde of the 20th century and was founded in Paris at the end of the first decade of the 20th century by Braque and Picasso. It was the beginning of a revolutionary way of painting based on intense work disassembling reality, renouncing conventional perspectives, the lack of details and the geometrization of shapes. It changed forever the way of capturing the nature of everyday objects and it led, as well, to a new way of looking at works of art in which spectators discovers, shapes, lines and colours displayed according to a self -rhythm which leads to sensorial contemplation and intellectual reconstruction. The Colección Cubista de Telefónica shows the diversity of cubist techniques throughout history. The exhibition is made up of 38 works and ia organised in three fields starting with the work of Juan Gris,which is the centre of this collection. It continues with the work of other contemporary artists who worked in Paris and ends with the international expansion of the movement presenting the participation of Spanish and Latin American artists. La Seguirilla CENTRO DE INVESTIGACIÓN DIEGO VELÁZQUEZ. COLECCIÓN PERMANENTE La Colección permanente del Centro Velázquez está formada por 15 obras de Roelas, Cano, Herrera el Viejo, Cavarozzi, Pacheco, Martínez Montañés, Varela, Velázquez, Zurbarán y Murillo, provenientes de distintas instituciones como el Museo del Prado, Arzobispado de Sevilla, Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias, Fundación Selgas-Fagalde, Ayuntamiento de Sevilla, Fundación Focus-Abengoa, y colecciones particulares Las quince obras maestras que componen la exposición han sido escogidas con una clara intencionalidad didáctica y científica, para así demostrar cómo Velázquez “revolucionó”, en Sevilla, la historia de la pintura, al acercarse a la belleza de lo real, con una puesta en escena muy cuidada, donde la museografía se pone al servicio de la museología. Enmarca este propósito el lienzo Vista de Sevilla, la imagen de la ciudad más importante que se pintó en el siglo XVII, testigo del fluir de mercaderías y del hervidero humano que era entonces la capital hispalense, y que ayuda al espectador a imaginarse cómo era la Sevilla que vio nacer y empezar a formarse a Velázquez. El “Centro de Investigación Diego Velázquez” tiene como objetivo divulgar el estudio de la obra del pintor sevillano, además de analizar los antecedentes de su trayectoria profesional en la capital hispalense. En este sentido, su objetivo es claro: contribuir a inculcar entre los sevillanos los valores patrimoniales de uno de los períodos de mayor efervescencia artística de Sevilla, una época en la que Andalucía fue referente para toda Europa. La Fundación Focus-Abengoa integra, en la colección permanente del Centro de Investigación Diego Velázquez, "La Inmaculada", atribuida a Velázquez, por JonathanBrown, y a Alonso Cano el 11 de febrero de 2009. INFO Y RESERVAS 954-56-06-70 CENTRO DEL MUDÉJAR El nuevo Centro del Mudéjar de Sevilla abre sus puertas en el Palacio de los Marqueses de la Algaba con un total de 111 piezas procedentes de distintos museos de la ciudad, como el Arqueológico y el de Bellas Artes. Se exponen 111 piezas, de las que 20 proceden de la colección arqueológica municipal, entre las que destacan tinajas mudéjares, sellos y utensilios domésticos de la misma época que cuentan con un "especial valor". Además, el Museo Arqueológico también ha prestado 44 piezas pertenecientes a su colección estable, entre las que figuran una Pila Bautismal donada por el pintor Virgilio Mattoni, canes polícromos del siglo XV procedentes de la iglesia mudéjar de San Marcos, fragmentos de yeserías procedentes del Convento de Madre de Dios, paños de arrocabe, almizates y piñas de mocárabes de madera de "especial singularidad". Por su parte, el Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares cede un total de 19 azulejos que son "ejemplo" de las técnicas de arista, cuerda seca y azulejos por tabla, mientras que el Museo de Bellas Artes ha prestado una acuarela de Joaquín Guichot de 1872. El conjunto se completa con las 20 piezas de la colección municipal que se encontraban en la Torre de don Fadrique de Santa Clara, y que incluyen lápidas góticas, rejas, basas de pomas, capiteles de cardina y renacentistas. The new Centro del Mudéjar of Seville opens its Doors at the Palacio de los Marqueses de la Algaba with 111 pieces from different museums of the city, of which 20 come from the town’s archaeological Collection stored away since 1940 in the store rooms of the Archaeological Museum of Seville. Moreover, the Archaeological Museum has also lent 44 pieces which belong to their permanent collection, such as the Baptism Font donated by painter Virgilio Mattoni, painted dogs from the 15th Century from the Mudejar church of San Marcos, fragments of plasterwork from the Convento de Madre de Dios, arrocabe ribs, almizates and Worden honeycomb pinecones of special features. All of them will be shown with the restored pieces for the occasion such as the Mudejar pendentives of Santa Clara, Prof. Of the survival of Mudejar and White carpentry from 1600. The Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares transfers to the new Centro del Mudéjar a total of 19 tiles which are a sample of the artists’ skills, dry string and tiles on boards, while the Museo de Bellas Artes has lent a water painting by Joaquín Guichot from 1872, kept st the Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares. The whole Group is completed with the 20 pieces of the town Collection that was found in the Torre de don Fadrique of Santa Clara.
