EDITORIAL
When we conceptualized the first issue of "Showcase Collector's Edition" we had a vague idea about what we intended to do. Lot of questions remained unanswered at that time – How will you receive it? How will it fill the gap in this segment? Are we in sync with our larger objective for the industry and country? Have we done justice with the selection of choices from thousands of designs and brands? Though our regular issues are no less painful because of the varied mix and nature of content; first Collector’s Edition almost derailed us from our normal life for several months. We were walking an untrodden path. It was a mammoth task! We couldn’t have imagined the overwhelming response we received for that. Nothing gives us more happiness than to know from numerous readers that they not just liked the compilation but were practically using it.
At Taj Mahal, Agra
This is just the beginning and we have a long way to go. Yet today, we find ourselves much more confident, thanks to all your encouragement and suggestions as we bring about Volume-II of Surfaces Reporter Showcase Collector’s Edition. While we move on to the next stage, we have tried our best to improve upon and better what we did last time. You will see more comprehensive and selective collation this time, more brands which are locally available and easy to specify, plus, selection of exquisite designs and materials across the globe in various categories. With the hope that this edition will prove beneficial for you and the industry, I would like to end with a dialogue from the film, Manjhi (The Mountain Man). Bhagwan ke bharose mat baithye... kya pata bhagwan humre bharose baitha ho { Don’t sit and wait around for God to do anything..., who knows, God is probably waiting & depending upon us for doing that thing! } Happy Exploring!

“I think Collector’s Edition was much needed, making the designer’s task of material selection easy. I also feel that a colour palette suggestion board should be made for reference. There could be a cross reference of material usage. A colour palette or mood board would bring out paring of certain materials that would go with the language of design. It’s like food with wine.”

“Like every architect in India, I look forward to the monthly edition you come out with. How can these disparate feature stories all be in one magazine? And for that matter, what would the readers think of each other’s beautifully designed surfaces & spaces? Would they be pleased about each other’s very different aesthetics and ideas? I think yes. It seems that when the beauty of an architect is truly personal, its appeal is universal. So we the community are looking forward for this personal and exclusive “Surfaces Reporter’s Special Showcase Collector’s Edition”
