Designers, design your vision
The importance of having a Vision
As architects, artists, interior & product designers, you are sculpting the dreams of your clients and realizing their vision for finest facade, opulent abodes, sustainable buildings, finest products, luxurious casas, exclusive creations of art, and so much more. However, only a few sit back and give time to design their own vision. For those who are too busy looking outward, I would like to draw your attention inward and give few reasons why it is extremely important to have a vision for your organization.
The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision. - Helen Keller
While analysing companies, I do not miss to check their vision. Some make me yawn. You can easily differentiate the ones with input from founders and those written most articulately by expert content writers yet lacking resonance. Vision of your organisation should be one that binds all in a single thread, giving direction like a compass. To craft your vision, it is important to ask a few questions to yourself and your team. What are your strengths? Is there any area you wish to specialize? Have you identified any gap in the market that you wish to address through your work? Where do you see your firm in long-term? What are the new skills to be acquired? And some more... A leader with a vision is more grounded with the capacity to work for the present and take sound steps for a better future. A visionary leader can foresee the future and still stay focused in the present. Vision helps the founders and the employees to move together with a unified goal. No business can do great without team-work. A strong & connecting vision has the power to successfully turn a corporate hierarchy into a harmonious and well-organized team. We know how much of perseverance and hard work is needed to build an organization. Many times, your vision becomes the tool that helps to overcome obstacles in moments of hardship. Well defined vision acts as an anchor to help you focus and create a purpose that becomes the yardstick of your success. Like the North star, vision will always help you to realign with the core. Regardless of the challenges you face, a vision will remind you, why you are doing things that you are doing. Last but not the least, when you visualize a brighter & better future and have a vision statement that oars towards the destination, you are most likely to get the impetus to do the necessary amendments to reach your goals. Ultimately, your world centres around you. Vision is just a tool that you create & hold to re-align with the greater purpose of your work. Surfaces Reporter's Special
materials of
substance
Being a ‘material-centric’ Magazine, the love of Surfaces Reporter for different materials is much-coveted. We also publish special column called – MATERIAL OF SUBSTANCE: an informative section that speaks all-about the chosen material – its existing uses, unconventional applications and more. Many times, due to limitation of space, we are not able to provide comprehensive articles. Therefore, in November, we bring a bouquet of 10 comparatively new materials viz. Cork, Mushroom, Fenix NTM, Graphene, Memory Foam, Terracotta, Jesmonite, GFRC, Cross Laminated Timber & Spider Silk.
