BENNIFER 2 – IT’S ALL OVER
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have been through it all and some. The couple who dated in 2002, got engaged in 2003, broke up in 2004, got back together in 2021 and remarried in 2022 - have finally called it a day.
Jennifer Lopez was the one who filed for divorce on Tuesday August 20th citing “irreconcilable differences” in her petition. She also asked the court to change her legal name from Affleck back to Lopez. Noticeably this date would have been the second anniversary of their wedding celebration.
So where did it all go wrong? First of all, the couple had been living apart for a number of months and were rarely seen together. J-Lo, aged 55, went on tour (not supported by Ben, 52) and they also put their $60m Beverly Hills mansion on the market, with Ben choosing to stay at a flat in Brentwood instead of the marital home. Another sign that things are not good in “Camp Bennifer” was the fact that Ben was pictured out without his wedding ring on in May and a week later J-Lo was on social media liking posts on “unhealthy relationships”.
Entertainment Weekly also reported that the couple “are staying in separate homes and tension is high,” while In Touch Magazine ran a report from an insider, saying: “The writing’s on the wall. It’s over. They’re headed for a divorce and (for once) Ben’s not to blame.”
Just days after the divorce petition was filed, Ben was seen collecting a takeaway and smiling in paparazzi pictures. J-Lo has yet to be seen out and about since filing – keeping a very low profile.

After five years together, former ‘Love Island’ contestants Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have gone their separate ways.
Announcing the news on social media, 25-year-old Molly-Mae told her 8.2 million fans, “Never in a million years did I ever think I’d have to write this. After five years of being together I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way. I am extremely upset to announce mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end. I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her. She will always be my priority. I just want to thank you all for the love you have shown us for the last 5 years.”
The news came just weeks after their anniversary amid tabloid speculation that boxer Tommy, 25, had cheated on her. An accusation him and his camp vehemently deny. Molly-Mae has asked for privacy at this difficult time as she navigates her way through the break up.
OASIS REUNITE FOR SUMMER 2025 TOUR
Liam and Noel Gallagher shocked fans on 27th August by announcing their first Oasis tour in almost two decades.
The brothers, who have had a long running and very public feud, finally put their differences aside to announce a 17-date tour across the UK and Ireland in 2025, 16 years after their last Oasis gig, which was in Paris in 2009.
The ‘Oasis Live 25 Tour’ will begin in Cardiff on 4th July and end in Dublin on 17th August.
The brothers posted on their social media: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”
Tickets are reportedly going on sale on 31st August starting from £73 for seated, £148 for standing and rising to £453 for the pre-show exhibition and fan package tickets.
Fans are already saying the ticket prices are too high, but we are in no doubt they will all sell! The brothers are then planning to take the tour to Europe after their UK & Ireland concerts, netting them “tens of millions” in the process.
JERMAINE JENAS ‘SEXTING’ SCANDAL
‘Match of the Day’ pundit and ‘The One Show’ presenter Jermaine Jenas has been sacked by the BBC for sending two female colleagues ‘inappropriate texts’.
Jenas apologised for his actions after being taken off air following the BBC internal investigation into his ‘misconduct’.
“I am ashamed, and I am deeply sorry,” Jenas said in an interview with The Sun. “I have let myself down, my family, friends and colleagues down.”
The news came as Jenas’ wife of 13 years and mother of his 3 children is apparently “raging” at the star. She is standing by him for now though.
As Surrey Rocks was going to press, TNT handed the former England footballer a lifeline and said it will still continue to use Jenas on a freelancing basis for upcoming football match broadcasts.

Kelly Osbourne has taken to social media to show the extent of Slipknot rocker, Sid Wilson’s facial burns following an explosion at the couple’s farm in Iowa last week.
The 39-year-old reality TV star, who has been looking after her partner Sid as he heals, told fans he “literally set himself on fire” following the explosion and shared the snaps of his red and swollen face on Instagram.
Sid is recovering nicely according to his wife, and she has even taken him out for his first pedicure since his release from hospital.
And at least the incident has not dampened his spirits as the 47-year-old musician joked with fans how he was planning to shave off his moustache but the fire had taken everything out of his hands! He captioned his posts “Ouch!” and “I’m going to be OK everyone. Love you all.” Later on joking that he had also “got his eyebrows done for free,” with the at-home fireball he had to endure!

RECIPE
CRISPY DUCK & STICKY PLUM SAUCE
Think duck à l’orange, but duck à l’plum! Served with a plum and watercress salad this a great, healthy option for you and your friends and family to enjoy from www.jamieoliver.com.
INGREDIENTS
• 1 x 2kg whole duck
• olive oil
• 1 heaped teaspoon Chinese fivespice
• ½ a bunch of thyme (15g)
• 1 bunch of sage (20g)
• 1kg new potatoes
• 2 bulbs of garlic
• 8 large mixed-colour ripe plums
• 2 red onions
• 1 ripe yellow plum
• 1 ripe red plum
• ½ a red onion
• red wine vinegar
• extra virgin olive oil
• 80g watercress
• 50g unsalted hazelnuts
METHOD:
1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC/350°F/gas 4.
2. Place the duck in a large roasting tray and rub with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, the fivespice and a large pinch of sea salt. Stuff the thyme and half the sage into the cavity of the duck, then
roast for 1 hour.
3. Scrub and cook the potatoes in a pan of boiling salted water for 20 minutes, then drain, and tip into a roasting tray. Halve and add the garlic bulbs.
4. When the time’s up on the duck, remove it from the oven and decant the fat into a clean jam jar. Drizzle a few tablespoons of fat over the tray of potatoes (save the rest for tasty meals another day), season with a little salt and black pepper, then toss together.
5. Use a fish slice or fork to squash down the potatoes (this will increase the surface area for extra crispiness). Tear over the remaining sage.
6. Destone 8 large plums and peel and quarter 2 red onions. Remove the duck from the tray and add the plums and onions, tossing to coat in any remaining sticky tray juices. Add a splash of water, then pop the duck back
on top. Roast the duck and potatoes for 1 hour, or until the duck is crispy and cooked through, and the potatoes are golden.
7. Remove the duck to a serving platter to rest, then mix up the plum sauce in the tray and decant into a serving bowl.
8. For the salad, destone the red and yellow plums and peel the red onion, then very finely slice. Pour over 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar and 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, add the watercress and toss to coat.
9. Lightly toast the hazelnuts in a small pan until golden, then bash in a pestle and mortar to rough crumbs, and sprinkle over the salad.
10. Remove the breast and leg from the bone, then shred the meat and crispy skin.
11. Spread the plum sauce onto plates, top with the shredded duck and crispy skin, a few garlicky roast potatoes and a handful of the salad.
WINE MATCH
The only wine to match with rich dishes like this Jamie Oliver duck and plum recipe is red. And the best one on the market is a Pinot Noir - a light to medium-bodied red wine with bright acidity and flavours of red and dark berries. It’s smooth tannins and fruit content pair wonderfully with the vibrant, juicy sweetness of plums.

The story centres around a young, idealistic Transformer, who embarks on a quest to find his ancestors, but discovers a dark secret in the process.
Lead characters Optimus Prime (played by Chris Hemsworth who starred in ‘Thor’) and Megatron (played by Keegan-Michael Ke) were friends that bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever and then turned into sworn enemies.
The rest of the plot has yet to be revealed, leaving fans wanting to know more.
Longtime ‘Transformers’ producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and director Josh Cooley from ‘Toy Story 4’ fame - debuted an exclusive new trailer for the film and a series of clips at Comicon 2024.
One clip showed Orion Pax aka Optimus Prime tricking his friend D-16 aka Megatron into entering a race, which Cooley described as “the Olympics of Cybertron.”
“We’re seeing Cybertron when everything’s going great, we wanted to really show what the society looks like; what’s fun on this planet,” Cooley explained.
According to the British Board of Film Classification expect “Frantic, kinetic actions scenes are often comic but occasionally feature intense robot violence.” It is rated PG.

For ‘143’ Katy has enlisted the help of top producers Max Martin, Dr. Luke, and Stargate who had produced her earlier songs, but also turned to first-time collaborators Vaughn Oliver and Rocco Did It Again to bring in a fresh, new element.
The album is titled after what Perry considers as her symbolic "angel number” and during a recent interview with Zane Lowe, Katy explained this is more detail.
“A couple years ago, we were going through a little bit of a hard time medically in our family, and it was a little bit scary, and I started seeing 143 in many different ways, not just, like, on the phone. It was just like trippy, almost. And I looked it up, and it's code for 'I love you.' I really believe it was my angels, my guides, saying, 'I love you. We got you. We're going to protect you. You're exactly where you're meant to be. You're on the path."

Welcome to the world of hook-up culture – a world where the instinct to avoid commitment is king. In hook-up terms, the rush of the chase and the pursuit of pleasure - prevails over deep conversations and meaningful connections. Complete with rules and risks, it is almost game-like. But within this game, as you move pieces around the board, what are you really seeking? Love, lust, or somewhere in between?
THE CHASE: LOVE, LUST AND EGO
The urge to seek out a partner in this game arise from different places. Some are depths of love - a want for connection with another soul, deep and meaningful connection. Others are born simply out of lust, a craving with the need for satisfaction without the strings that inevitably come with love. And then there's the ego - a powerful force that drives you to sleep with your crush, that man or woman of your dreams, just to prove you can. It is a heady mix of emotions, each one feeding into the other and raising the ante in your sexual game.
Hook-up culture, in many ways, mirrors a chess match. You plot, you strategise and then you start making your moves, all the while keeping your intentions very close to your heart. You manipulate someone sometimes like a pawn, as a means to an end, or other times, you end up falling for a one-night stand; probably in that nice, sparkling moment, you think they really are your soulmate. The line blurs between love and lust, and you wonder whether you are going to win or lose. It is a tough game and there is inevitably a winner and a loser.
THE DOUBLE STANDARDS OF DESIRE
But as in any game, there are rules - and not all of them are fair. Double standards dripping in hook-up culture are stark and directly very harmful. Guys who, after making a high count in bodies, are mostly praised as their conquests in sex became a badge of honour for their manhood. Alternatively, women are condemned for the same actions, labelled sluts, with their worth diminished by the number of people they have slept with.
This duplicity is not only frustrating but deeply unfair. If both men and women are going to be free to follow their sexuality, why are there different rules? Plainly put, sex should be an equal playing field whereby every person has an opportunity to meet their needs without the fear of stigma.
THE UNSPOKEN RULES OF COMMITMENT
And what about those of us already committed? The fear of having real conversations about sexual dissatisfaction can lead the best-intentioned partner to look elsewhere for fulfillment. Infidelity - those yucky, secretive escapes from reality - is so often the result not of a lack of love, but a lack of communication. If your partner isn't meeting your needs, wouldn't you want to just sit down and discuss it?
Be open to trying new things, exploration of each other's desires, most importantly, respect each other's bounds. After
all, everyone has their comfort zones, especially when it comes to the intimate world of sex.
NAVIGATING THE GAME
If you decide to take the plunge into the world of hook-up culture, there should be a gracious need to set some ground rules. First and foremost, your intentions should be very clear - if it is just sex, then say so. Don't promise anything more than what you're willing to give, and if love happens to creep in, let it be a nice surprise rather than as one of the checkmarks on the list. Embrace the thought of no strings attached. You don't have to become friends in order to enjoy one another, but if a friendship develops out of it naturally, then let it. Above all, respect the other person's feelings and limits.
THE ENERGY EXCHANGE
Some view sex as an exchange of energy, not just a purely physical act. When you sleep with someone, it involves much more than the simple, usual act; it is the sharing of a body, essence and aura. In case there is emotional baggage or unresolved trauma, that energy clings to you, affecting your emotional state. It's important to be mindful of thisto protect your energy while still embracing the passion life has to offer.
But whenever you feel overwhelmed, just remember it is okay to step back. Life is too short to be spending it on finding someone, get reacquainted with your own identity. Flirt, explore, get entertained by these connections, but at the same time, do not be afraid to sever relations and ties when they no longer serve you.

Breaking a soul tie is not black magic or voodoo; it is more about reclaiming yourself. Yvonne Arnaud Transformation
The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is being given a massive overhaul having benefitted from a £2.9m cash injection from Surrey County Council, topped up by its own inhouse fundraising initiatives. The iconic building in Guildford is being transformed into a cultural community hub with theatre at its core.
Improvements include an interior and exterior makeover (as per artists impression pictures shown here), improved accessibility with more lifts, remodelled public spaces including a new multipurpose community room and environmental
sustainability works including replacing outdated electrical and mechanical services with energy efficient alternatives.
To celebrate the start of the Yvonne Arnaud’s transformative building works and the start of their ‘Play Your Part’ capital campaign to transform the Yvonne Arnaud into a cultural community hub, the theatre welcomed some of its patrons, key donors and supporters for a tour of the building works.

THE SEVEN STARS PUB
The Seven Stars Pub in Ripley has undergone a huge interior and exterior makeover and opened its doors to the public on November 28th. The popular pub has been taken over by The Running Mare in Cobham owners, Adrian & Ollie, who have spent the last 2 months renovating the manor building, dating back to 1536, to get it back to its former glory. The Seven Stars has long been one of the landmark bars in Ripley. The new owners are really excited to turn The Seven Stars into a destination for all ages and tastes and make it a vibrant social hub for the Ripley community and beyond.
Whilst Adrian comes from a hospitality background – he has run a number of successful pubs and bars before the Seven Stars – he spent a large part of his life supporting and travelling with his younger brother, the racing driver Julian Bailey (aka The Stig!), on the route to Formula One. Rapsa’s new Gastropub, The Rampling Pig by Rapsa, is bringing crowd favourites from its famed headquarters in Hoxton in London to a new crowd in Ewell Village in Surrey. Our experience visiting the quirky & cool new eatery was fabulous from start to finish.
And of all the reviews we are fortunate to do here at Surrey Rocks Magazine, this Filipino fusion restaurant has been one of the finest. Read on to find out why…
OUR EXPERIENCE
We arrived at 5pm on a glorious, sunny Saturday afternoon in August and were greeted by two of the most charming and vivacious staff members. Big shout out to general manager Kerry Pritchard & assistant manager Attiyah Alleyne who made our dining experience so memorable and fun.
Having not realised our gastronomy review was arranged until a few hours earlier that day – Kerry & Attiyah were prepping (and even gardening to the max!) to ensure our visit was a
pleasurable one…. And it so was.
We opted to sit in the newly coiffed, al fresco brick-walled garden at the back of the restaurant with gorgeous Tiki style umbrellas, Filipino flags and quaint pig decorations throughout.
We were handed the most impressive cocktail menu with superb Rapsa-style twists on the classics including ‘Lychee & Grapefruit Martini’, ’Cherry Coke Old Fashioned’ and ‘Santiago Negronis’. We decided to go for the nod to the Harry Styles song, ‘Watermelon Sugar High’ which was perfect for this hot Summer’s day consisting of Vodka, Aperol, Watermelon,
Elderflower and Prosecco. Delicious and so light and refreshing. Next up, we went for the house special ‘Flying Pig’ with Woodforde Reserve Bourbon, Kumquat Honey, Angostura and Chicharron – it was a taste explosion, perfectly hitting both the sweet and sour tastebuds – a must try.
The ‘Devil’s Tear Bloody Mary’ was the perfect blend of Horseradish Vodka, Chilli Sauce, Jalapeno Salt, Lemon & Tomato Juice. Like its Styles predecessor – this was a hit maker with our tasters too.
Next up (Yep, we even thought that!) we sampled a beautiful ‘Hibiscus Margarita’ containing Tequila, Hibiscus Syrup, Lime served in a Jalapeno salt- rimmed glass. The colours and flavours of this cocktail were immense alongside the kick from the spicy salt rim made it our fave of the day.
And finally, our rather large drinks order was finished two of the finest shots of ‘Don Pappa’ – a rum infused shot which totally hit the spot.
All this while enjoying the ambience of a fun-filled garden with the exuberant staff and
surrounding guests including locals Naomi and Barry, who were on their third visit to the Rambling Pig By Rapsa and couldn’t sing the venues praises enough, while they enjoyed their alfresco dining meal of ‘Steak & Tuna Tartares’ expertly washed down with a few classic Mojitos.
THE FINEST FILIPINO FUSION FOOD
Filipino-Fusion Fantastique.
Across all Rapsa’s menus are an array of flavours from garden, land and sea. Their a la carte menu is centred around sharing plates and enjoyed at all times of the day.
You can also enjoy great starters such as ‘Crumbled Halloumi Fingers’ served with their signature banana ketchup and ‘Crispy Chicken Pulutan’ which comes with Korean chilli sauce and togarashi. The halloumi fingers were cooked perfectly with that perfect crunch, oozing cheese centre and the banana/ ketchup dipping sauce was sweet but not overpowering. The chicken pulutan strips were delicious too and a very generous portion size.
The best menu choice of the day was the main dish of ‘King Prawns with Baboong XO Sauce with Blitzed Pork and Sesame’
– huge, succulent and plentiful prawns in a tangy and spicy sauce. Devine.
The ‘Duck & Mungoo Guisado’ with mung daal puree, torched onions, muringa leaves and coco milk was perfection. Succulent, slow cooked meat served with the brightest, tastiest and tangiest of sauces. We were blown away with this dish and its presentation.
Next up, was the last main of ‘Slow Roasted Lechon’ a crispy pork belly with atchara and tamarind kalamansi. Slow cooked to perfection for 8 hours the meat was so soft and tender and literally melted in the mouth. This was also the chef’s favourite dish and one of the most popular on the menu according to staff. We knew we were onto a winner straight away.
The only dish that we were recommended to try by front of house manager, Aaron, but did not order (saving for our next visit!) was the vegetarian ‘Roasted Cauliflower Salad’ which comes with coconut yoghurt, capers, coconut flakes and dijon mustard. Yum. We will be back soon to test for sure!

On Sundays you can bask in the glory of the Lord’s day of rest with sumptuous roast beef served with beef dripping potatoes, whipped wasabi cream, Yorkshires, sprouting broccoli and heavenly 10-year-old Laphraoig Whisky smoky gravy. It is easy to tell The Rambling Pig By Rapsa are experts in carvery, flavour combinations and making cosy allowances for the veggies with their ‘Veggie Roast’ proving just as popular as the main meat dishes. Book in early to avoid disappointment. Plus, get ready to get to know ‘The Famous Rapsa Boodle
Fight’ – a feast platter for sharing with your friends and family. Available every Saturday from 12-3pm (or upon request). You can order a ‘Meat Boodle’ consisting of Lumpia Spring Rolls, Ukoy Fritters, Torta Talong Eggplant, Crispy Chicken Pulutan and Oxtail Kare Croquettes with all the rice and vegetable trimmings for only £24 per person. Or the ‘Meat & Fish Boodle’ for £29 per person comes with the added extra Salmon Kilawin and Tilapia dishes. If sweet treats are your thing you can order the ‘Boodle Sharing Dessert Platter’ consisting of Bibingka, Mango Float, Biko Sticky Rice Pudding and Maja Blanca for only £24 per person.
KARAOKE PARTIES
You can now book one of Rambling Pig’s 2 private dining area for Karaoke fun to sing to your hearts content. Available for dinner& parties, there is also filming of live sessions and performances if you want. From only £40 per hour gives you the whole room and full use of the Karaoke set up. Fill it up with your friends and order food/drinks as you go or pre-order one of their fabulous ‘Party Sharing Menus.’
The ‘Private Dining Room’ has an 18 person capacity while the neighbouring ‘Rapsa Lounge Room’ seats up to 14 guests. There are cool, low dining tables and seating, board games and party food menus that can fuel your hangout. A must try experience.

Having undergone an extensive refurbishment to become a “fully fledged” restaurant and bar with a beautiful private dining room too, The Gosling offers all day dining, serving modern European cuisine, and a stylish bar where guests can enjoy freshly made cocktails and drinks.
UPTOWN FLAVA RESTAURANT
Uptown Flava, Epsom Social's newest kitchen is serving up the best, bold Caribbean-inspired dishes. Dive into their signature jerk chicken, enjoy loaded fries bursting with flavour, and savour soulful bites that hit just right.
Our experience was amazing. Great service, top notch food, cocktails to die for and the best ambience in a fun and buzzy setting in Epsom.
As we were testing Caribbean cuisine the helpful bar managers Rebecca and Saheel suggested we go for the Rum Punch and the Margarita with a lime twist and they went perfectly.
THE FOOD
The best dish of the day was ‘Curried Goat’, which was actually goat not mutton as many people think and it was actually really tender and not as tough as you would have thought.
‘The Chicken Tenders’ were superb, spicy and crispy coated there was 5 dipping sauces to go with including Jerk Gravy, Blue Cheese Ranch, Nacho Cheese, Satay and the Chipotle Mayonnaise dip was to die for.
The standout dish was the Uptown Flava signature ‘Dirty Fries’ which came loaded with cheese, bacon, dried onion, chipotle sauce. Health conscious people stay away.
The ‘Bad Manners’ came with jerk chicken, jerk gravy, mac and cheese and was served on a bed of rice and kidney beans.
My intrepid diner Nadia Essex divulged that her mum was half Caribbean half way through the meal, so was used to this type of food.
She praised the chicken, gravy and sauces and said it was “just like they make at home.”
The final dish of the day was the Coleslaw and Plantain – the latter was superb, crisp on the outside and full of flavour.
On Sundays, Uptown Flava offers a twist on the British classic with their epic Jerk Roasts, featuring Roasted Jerk Chicken, Rosemary Salt Potatoes, Mac & Cheese, Plantain, homemade Yorkshire Puddings, and more. Plus, there's often a "guest" meat to keep things exciting!

And it shows as the award wins keep rolling in! So far Epsom Social has won a Surrey Award for Best Newcomer, a Time & Leisure Award and a Go Epsom Award too and picked up in the Best Restaurant Category at the 2024 Surrey Awards.
Peter added, “It’s great to get recognition from local people and businesses as we are genuinely community focused! A lot of businesses say that but we really do care! I genuinely believe we have created a cool creative space for guests – a balance of food, drink, fun and that chill side of things!”

From special events with live music to gastro dining you couldn’t ask for more; with a large outdoor area with beautiful Surrey surroundings and table tennis to entertain the kids (or adults!) to the quieter intimate dining in the Lounge or Main Restaurant, The Black Swan offers it all.
OUR EXPERIENCE
We were greeted on arrival by the bubbly and friendly Black Swan Proprietor Barbara Bouti (who is affectionately known to all as Barbie!) and a charming, young waitress named Chloe - who offered us to take a seat and enjoy a drink why they ensured our table was ready. Shortly after we were greeted by duty manager Nathan who showed us through to the state room that was brightly lit with exposed wooden beams and quirky interior, we were offered a wine list and food menus and given a few minutes
to decide. Needless to say it took more than a few minutes as we were so spoilt for choice with such a diverse and tantalising menu. It all seemed so good. We started with a cocktail which was a perfect way to start any meal or just enjoy a drink in the stunning deck area or garden, we highly recommend the ‘Tropical Rum Spritz’ and the ‘Patron Paloma Spritz’ which were both full of flavour and really refreshing on this hot Summer evening.
SUBLIME STARTERS
Nathan couldn’t have been more knowledgeable of the menu and was more than accommodating when we wanted to make any changes. We settled on the ‘Soup of the Day’ from the Starter Menu which was ‘Roasted Thai Red Pepper and Sweet Potato’ which came with a homemade fresh potato sour dough and the choice of butter or olive oil and balsamic, it was DIVINE! The sour dough was perfectly crunchy and

a great accompaniment to the soup which was packed full of flavours that all complimented each other, with a subtle hint of ginger that really came through and balanced out the other flavours nicely. We also ordered from the Bar Snacks Menu including the ‘Thousand Layer Potato Skewers with Roasted Garlic Aioli and Basil Pesto’, this was the perfect balance of crunch, fresh and flavour and it all worked together in harmony. The potatoes were perfectly crisp coated in garlic aioli and dotted with basil pesto… I could have eaten these all day! The basil pesto is made fresh on site and you really can tell. We also ordered the ‘Sesame Roasted Chicken Skewers and Ssamjang Sauce’, these are a must try on any visit to The Black Swan. The homemade Ssamjang Sauce was out of this world and I would of quite happily eaten these by the bucket load. The chicken was tender and with a squeeze of fresh lime and a dash of spring onion you really could not make these any better if you tried.
MASTERFUL MAINS
And now onto the main event. We ordered a Black Swan pub classic – ‘The Dry Aged Double Cheeseburger layered with American Cheese and Signature Burger Sauce’ served with French Fries and of course we added the ‘Triple Smoked Bacon’. We were over the moon with our choice. It came served in a Vegan Toasted Brioche Bun (there is a Vegan Burger alternative to this dish too - which sounded just as appetising as the real thing). The French Fries were fresh and crispy and the Smoked Bacon was the perfect add-on with their Signature
Sauce. It packed it full of flavour and the portion size was more than generous too, thanks! A house classic elevated to the next level for sure.
I went for Nathan’s recommendation of the ‘Pave Steak Rump - The Heart Of The Rump’ it was honestly the best Steak I have ever had in my entire life, it melted in the mouth and was accompanied by Sautéed Green Beans, fresh crunchy Salad, Fries and Pink Peppercorn Sauce. I was literally in food heaven. It was cooked to perfection “medium rare” and I could have eaten the whole thing all over again. DECADENT DESSERTS
As it came time for the Dessert Course, we really were full to the brim due to the healthy portions of everything, but that didn’t stop us! Who doesn’t love a pudding?! And The Black Swan has you covered with everything from ‘Raspberry Tiramisu’ to ‘Eton Mess With Vanilla Poached Strawberries’, Iced Coffee to Rum & Raisin Ice-Cream, we ordered adelicious ‘Trio of Ice-Cream and Sorbets’ including the aforementioned
Coffee Ice-Cream, Mango Sorbet and my personal favourite Gin & Lemon Sorbet for all those gin lovers out there. These were the perfect little palette cleansers we needed before tucking into a portion of ‘Chocolate Filled Profiteroles with Mascarpone and Salted Caramel Sauce’, which were phenomenal and the sweet and salty combo was a truly decadent experience for us to share together.

A huge shout out to the beautiful proprieter Barbie and all the staff at The Black Swan we really felt like “part of the family” during our entire visit you were all super friendly and made the experience for us. DARK CHERRY RED
These shades are literally my favourite Autumn trend of all time. Last year it was burgundy, this year we have dark cherry red. Not necessarily full outfits, but definitely shoes and accessories.
I especially love pairing this colour with dark denim and grey, it makes for such a clean chic look with a hint of richness to it. There are some gorgeous boots and bags that I have come across in this colour and of course for those more casual days, Adidas have done it again with their Handball Spezial Trainers in shadow red/ off white plus new Samba colour ways cream/maroon and white/ red. These can be tricky to get hold of as they sell out superfast so make sure you register your interest on the site and make their email address VIP so you get the notification as soon as they're restocked, then be quick to order. Alternatively, having a look on Vinted is always a good idea or a site I have recently come across size.co.uk are also pretty well stocked.

LEOPARD PRINT
Love it or loathe it, leopard print is here to stay for A/W24, in fact it is increasing and we are expected to see 75% more leopard print hitting the shelves compared to A/W23. Boots, trench coats, jumpers, winter coats, bags, you name it, it's roaring.
If you're a leopard print lover then go all out in a matching co-ord. If you're not but you would like to dip your toe into the trend, I love pairing leopard print jeans or trousers with a white tee and a black or neutral blazer. You could even add in dark cherry red heels and a bag for a full-on Autumn trend alert. Leopard print also pairs really well with denim so test out some darker versions as we head into the new season.
TRENDS TO INVEST IN NOW
GREEN
The colour green has been all over the catwalk, shades of khaki, olive and pistachio to be precise. For those of you who loved wearing your olive-green, satin, midi-skirts in the Summer, don't pack them away just yet as they will be gorgeous styled with cream knits and boots for A/W as well as black tops and suede trench coats. This is such a classic Autumnal colour.
BARREL LEG JEANS
The search for this style of jeans has apparently increased by 150% - crazy. They're usually high waisted, they then come out like a barrel (hence the name) and they go back in towards the ankle. The shape might not be for everyone, you may prefer a more classic jeans shape, and if you do, then by all means stick to what makes you feel good and flatters your personal silhouette but for my pearshaped girlies, like me, they're perfect. Pair them with a high neck bodysuit or top, a tweed or suede blazer and some heels for a really chic, on trend look.
HIGH NECKLINES
We are not talking turtlenecks here as everybody owns one of these, we are talking exaggerated high necklines, think jaw skimming excess material, not tight so again comfort and warmth are key. You could almost dip your chin into these types of jumpers and teamed with a full skirt, chic boots and a shoulder bag, makes for the perfect expensive looking outfit.
WRAPPED UP
Now this is a bit of me, anything cosy, comfy and warm but still chic, this trend is a little like going out of your house wrapped up in your duvet cover. We saw this coming in towards the end of last year with the coats and jackets that had built in scarfs, thank Toteme as they then trickled down into the high street. If you love to be wrapped up in Winter then indulge in the extra material while embracing this trend.
FULL SKIRTS
They graced us with their presence in the Summer months and we were especially loving the bubble hem versions. They are back for A/W with a slight change in fabric so think leathers, wool blends and suede. They are perfect styled with knee high boots, bodysuits and blazers or coats.
I personally love a full skirt, they're such a comfortable alternative to jeans or trousers and they're very versatile.

WHAT IS THE MOST EMBARRASSING THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU?
Lisa: I choked on chewing gum on stage in front of 50,000 people at Radio One Live in Bournemouth. I couldn’t believe it!
Romeo: I don’t do embarrassing stuff.
Lisa (interjecting!): Excuse me! Do you not remember the time you spilt that drink all over you?!
It was great to catch up with Lisa Maffia and Romeo, two of the founding members of UK garage and hip-hop collective, So Solid Crew, at the recent Kisstory Festival on Blackheath Common. The brother and sister duo who have been performing to sell-out crowds for more than 20 years now headlined the main stage at Kisstory to thousands of adoring fans, performing their classic hits including ’21 Seconds’ and ‘All Over’.We caught up with Lisa and Romeo backstage to get this exclusive interview, just after their performance on the night. Lisa had previously agreed to the interview while Romeo declined politely at first… saying he hasn’t done an interview for 20 years. Yet, he got in on the action and joined Lisa to tell all about embarrassing Lucozade incidents, looking like a pirate at Raver Tots and his top notch survival instincts!
Romeo: Oh yeah! One time I was driving with my boy to a gig and I spilt Lucozade on my trousers in the car and I had to go straight on stage. I had white trousers on and it was bright orange Lucozade in
the crutch area. No one noticed –hopefully.
Lisa: Yeah right. It was suspect!
Romeo: Oh no this was bad too! I was at Raver Tots one time and I had gone to high five one of the kids and he slapped me straight in the face and I lost one of the lenses to my glasses. I had to stand there on stage looking for my lense…. like a pirate!
Lisa: Kids are the best!
IF YOU HAD TO TAKE 3 THINGS TO A DESERT ISLAND, WHAT WOULD THEY BE AND WHY?
Lisa: A walkman, my lipgloss - cos my lips always get dry - and of course, my bro, Romeo!
Romeo: Food, a firestarter - stuff to start a fire, a pot and I’m gonna bring 4 things - a tent to sleep in. I’m a survivor! Haha!

So what's new at The Holroyd arms in Guildford, Already a great friendly pub and venue for bands to play, with Axe throwing and rage rooms available for private hire...Well now here is their latest addition... The Interactive Games Room (again available for private hire and separate from the pub itself)
So what's in this games room.
Well there's two pool tables, an interactive darts board, Table curling, Slingshot, Table football, Pinball, computer games ..Two large screen TV's and heaps of fun for everyone.. Naturally there's an optional bar, which can be utilized with your own waitress for special events.
The room itself can be hired for up to 20 people over the age of 11 at £10 a head for an hour and then £5 an hour per head for any additional hour thereafter . There are family deals available like One adult and Child £15 per hour £25 for two hours or a family of four for £25 an hour or £35 for two hours.
It's the perfect party solution for those board teenagers looking for something to keep them occupied and has toilet facilities and food available to order with a resident Hot food vendor outside, for burgers, chips, pizzas and Jamaican specials as well.
With the Euros coming up this month it also has two large TV's to watch the games, £25 per two hours per person whilst you play games with your mates. This includes your own waitress and bar for drinks. But hurry if your wishing to book as the England games will certainly be popular.
There is also a 12ft screen and projector with Sky and TNT SPORTS available to hire .
