Hair and beauty is big business. Demand for qualified stylists and therapists extends from local to global, providing true flexibility for a career you can take to a specialised level, travel with and work around family commitments. We are a Wella Centre of Excellence and benefit from highly trained staff and terrific facilities in our on-site salon and spa. Our hair and beauty classes are taught by staff who work in the industry, who have up-to-date knowledge and host work placements. Plaza Hair and Beauty runs on commercial principles so you will enter the workplace with plenty of business experience.

This course provides a professional qualification in Swedish massage. It covers health and safety, anatomy and physiology, legislation and body massage techniques. Assessments include practical tasks, research and exams. You must have a minimum of four GCSEs including English to apply.

This course provides a professional qualification in Indian head massage. It covers health and safety, anatomy and physiology, legislation and Indian head massage techniques. Assessments include practical tasks, research and exams. You must have a minimum of four GCSEs including English to apply.

This qualification covers health and safety, facials, manicures, pedicures, make-up, tanning, waxing, customer service and reception duties. This will enable progression into employment or onto a full-time course in make-up artistry, beauty or spa therapy.

This qualification is two days a week for over-18s. It could be a progression from a current level 1 qualification in hairdressing or could be a refresher for people who undertook a level 2 and have not used their skills for many years. It covers all aspects of cutting, colouring and styling as well as reception duties and health and safety. This could lead to progression on to level 3.

Perfect your skills with this level 2 City & Guilds unit that covers cutting men’s hair into basic styles. You will produce both classical and modern fashion looks and gain the confidence to cut different hair types, creating one-length and graduated cuts. This is aimed at students who already have a Level 2 NVQ/VRQ in hairdressing.

Attendance is two days a week. Interview required.

This professional qualification covers topics such as manicures, pedicures, nail art and nail extensions. These are supported by units in health and safety, anatomy and physiology and customer service. Students have the option to fast-track if they already hold qualifications in level 2 Beauty Therapy to complete the nail art and nail extensions element only.

There are options to suit individual needs and aspirations – you could learn techniques to start or develop your career in the industry.
