A desire to create Art Classes for all skill levels in West Sussex

New art classes for the New Year

Artist Leticia Silva dos Santos based in Midhurst hosts new workshops every month with different class subjects and mediums. Leticia’s classes are for those who need guidance to get started or improve their art, and Leticia hopes to inspire people in her classes to “tap into their inner creativity”. Leticia’s plans for 2023 include introducing new shorter courses.

In Leticia’s classes, every student comes away with unique artwork as they are taught how to draw what they see, not just copy it.

Leticia’s pride in her teaching comes from when her students’ gain more confidence with each class and when they overcome an element that they struggled with before.

Many people struggle drawing body parts such as hands, feet and faces. Leticia teaches her students her trick to mastering these elements that makes drawing them much easier.

A love of teaching Leticia tells Sussex Local that she has been establishing her own art practice since she completed her BA in Contemporary Arts at Bath Spa Uni back in 2018. She discovered her enjoyment of teaching art when she got a job leading a drawing class at the V&A in 2019.

The pandemic interrupted this and Leticia made the decision to move out of London in 2020. She started her business, Art Classes in West Sussex, in Midhurst in August 2022 with classes in Chichester hopefully starting this year.

When she’s not teaching students how to improve their art skills, Leticia also enjoys a walk in the woods and perusing charity shops.
