Towards the end of term, some of our Year 5 children were lucky enough to visit the Moncrieff -Bray Gallery near Petworth to study the artworks there. They spent a lot of time sketching sculptures, as well as looking at landscape painting techniques. On return, they spent time creating their own artworks, using dry-brush and stippling effects to add texture to their landscapes. Some of their artwork will be on display in Petworth during the summer.

Online safety

We were very grateful that PC Scott was able to spare some time to come in and talk to our leavers about online safety and the safe use of mobile phones – this is becoming more of an issue as ever younger children are given phones.

Knowledge walls

The Knowledge Walls are finally complete. The last panels are the Geography walls, which on one wall comprises a world map with the British

Isles and flags of all nations and on the opposite wall a local area map from Coldwaltham to Codmore Hill and Stopham to West Chiltington. This new informative wall now joins our Science and History walls, and already the children are challenging each other to find countries and places on the world map, as well as trying to identify where they live on the Pulborough map.

Leavers

One of the final events for our leavers was the Diocesan Leavers’ Service at Lancing College with many other church schools from Sussex – it is such an uplifting way of moving on to Year 7! We wish our leavers all the best!
