2nd March, 7.45pm, Ashington Scout Hall.

This is the annual meeting for the residents of Ashington parish. Any registered elector may ask a question of the Parish Council. They may also wish to make suggestions or comments on issues relating to the village. It is also an opportunity for the Chairman of the Parish Council to provide an overview of the previous year. The monthly Parish Council meeting will take place after the Parish Meeting.

Council Tax Precept - What is this?

This is the part of the Council Tax that comes to the Parish Council to help cover many varied areas of expenditure such as Neighbourhood Wardens, a Youth Worker, Parish Clerk, play areas, skate park, hanging baskets, maintenance of ponds and council owned open spaces, dog and litter bin emptying, benches and many other unseen costs that help keep our village a pleasant and safe place to live. Ashington Parish Council receive just £88.71 of the Council Tax that villagers pay to HDC each year (based on a Band D home) to do all this, which hopefully residents will feel is good value for money.

The past couple of years has been tough for everyone, from the Covid pandemic to the cost of living crisis we all find ourselves in. Thanks to prudent budgeting and careful management of expenditure, the Parish Council have made the decision not to increase the precept amount for the coming financial year 2023-24. This will be the 5th year in a row that we have not increased the precept.
