Parish Hall Air Conditioning. Applications for grants from HDC’s Community Climate Fund and from the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Village Hall Improvement Fund had been submitted and the quotations received will be considered following the outcome of these applications.

Planning Application for Old Clayton Kennels, District Councillor Dawe referred to this application for the Erection of a 60-bed care home and 8 age restricted bungalows which was considered at the recent Horsham DC Planning Committee Meeting. Both this Parish Council and Washington Parish Council had objected this application and despite the Officer’s recommendation to approve it, District Councillors voted against it.

Storrington Community Football Club

The Clerk reported that the Club had agreed that the Pavilion rent be increased to £2,000 per annum from April 2023.

Increased use of football club’s floodlights

A previous decision was deferred pending the Club’s enquiry to the League regarding earlier kick-off times. Whilst the League would have no issues with earlier times, the Club had responded that there would still be constraints on the number of midweek games that the first team could play now that the under 23 team had been established. A recent test confirmed that the lights were operating within the required lux levels. The Club had agreed to the proposed increase in running costs. The Parish Council agreed to support the planning application to increase use of floodlights from 5.5 to a maximum of 10 hours per month.

The club has suggested that the proposed increase of £300 is a large jump and asked that it be set at £1,400, although could accept the increase subject to maintenance issues being rectified by the Parish Council.
