Charity & Community News Youth Cricket needs players Last year saw the successful launch of a girls team at Storrington Cricket Club. A first for our local club but something that is firmly on the agenda at Cricket Clubs up and down the country! Research from the Women’s Sports Foundation shows that girls involved in playing sports achieve better grades at school, have higher levels of confidence and self esteem and have a more positive body image than girls that do not play sports. The club has a strong social flavour. With training sessions on Fridays at 6pm, many parents and coaches see it as a lovely end to the working week, especially when the sun is shining and the (licensed) clubhouse is open! There are vacancies for both girls (ages 7-11) and boys
(especially the Under 13 group). For information email: storringtongirlscricket@gmail.com or, for the boys’ team: justinhayles@yahoo.com.
Festival Stalls still available
The Storrington Platinum Jubilee Festival takes place on Saturday 4th June, on Hormare Field. If anyone would like to be involved, whether that be through sponsorship of this village event, donation of prizes for raffles and competitions the Parish Council would love to hear from you and would be grateful for any support that our local businesses can provide. In addition, if anyone would like a poster advertising the event or small handouts people can take away, please email office@storrington-pc.gov.uk Attractions will include the more traditional Morris Dancers, Dog Show, live music, drama and a variety of activities and entertainment for all ages. The many stalls that have already applied are showcasing a wealth of local products and skills but there were more free spaces available at the time of going to press.

Charity & Community News New Green District Councillor
Joan Grech, the Green Party candidate, won the District Council by election held on 7th April. Joan polled 1,281 votes against the Conservative candidate’s 943, with the Liberal Democrats in third place with 453. Joan has lived in Storrington for 14 years, and can often be seen out and about with her faithful friend Taz, who she adopted from the Sussex Pet Rescue website. “I retired early to enjoy living in Sussex, having moved down from London with my partner George,” says Joan. “But I like to be busy, to spend time working with people and making a difference. I worry about the air pollution in Storrington and its impact on people’s health, yet nothing’s done. I’ll speak up for the people of Storrington and Washington. I’m daunted, but I’m ready for the challenge and excited by the opportunity to be a fresh voice for our area.” You can email Joan on: greenjoangrech@gmail.com
Storrington Conservation News There is something satisfying about picking up litter as our work party did on 2nd April. While wondering why people spread the stuff, (e.g. cans, bottles, packets, paper, face masks, dog poo bags), it shows our great neighbourhood is worth caring for. We next meet on 7th May at 10am at the Library Car Park, everyone is welcome. www.storringtonconservation.org.uk
Rotary Collection for Ukraine To meet the increasing needs of Ukrainian families, Storrington & Pulborough District Rotary Club Members were out in force in Storrington on 5th March at their bookstall in Place Villerest and at Old Mill Square Storrington on 12th March collecting £1,456 and £1,545 respectively.

Bringing the Missing Home
2022 marks 20th year for Sussex Search and Rescue (SusSAR) Sussex Search and Rescue is responsible for locating and rescuing vulnerable missing people across Sussex. The team, which entirely consists of volunteers drawn from all walks of life, marks its 20th year of operation in 2022. They are the primary search resource for Sussex Police and can be called out by Sussex Police and neighbouring units at any time day or night. The team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year whatever the weather, members give their time free of charge and expect nothing in return but satisfaction from a job well done. Sussex Search and Rescue is affiliated to Lowland Rescue who co-ordinate the county-based groups and set the training standards they have to adhere to and is a registered charity in England and Wales. Charity number 1097190. The team provide mutual support to other Lowland Rescue teams, including Search Dogs Sussex and other county’s teams, as well as other emergency services such as East and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. All team members are volunteers and so all donations and funds raised go towards providing services. What do they do? SusSAR are professionally trained and qualified to high standards. The team train at least twice a month, in order to keep up the high standards and professionalism required by Sussex Police and Lowland Rescue. Members are qualified in search techniques, first aid, navigation, tracking, bike searching, water safety, communications, search planning and management. They also have a water team trained in swift water rescue and flood response. Being an operational member of the team requires a high level of commitment Since 2002, SusSAR has helped find numerous missing people across the county. Most callouts are to search for vulnerable missing people such as the elderly, people living with dementia, children, and anyone else deemed to be a high risk. The team’s task is to locate them having been
given a briefing by the police, and to return them to a place of safety. Search technicians Becoming a Search Technician is also an alternative outlet for outdoor skills, with many callouts involving advanced navigation, tracking and bike skills. As part of the probationary membership process, volunteers receive training in navigation, first aid and water safety. Following qualification as a search technician there are then further opportunities to progress; they have a water rescue team and a bike team as well as more advanced roles in team leading, search managing and search planning. Their spokesperson Dave Graffy told us; “There is no glamour in any form of search and rescue, and we would not wish to recruit anyone who wanted to join with this as their aim. The work is always sensitive and can also be traumatic on occasions.” He continued, “You need to be a genuine team player with a good sense of collective responsibility, e.g. appreciating that as a unit member your personal behaviour outside of the team (e.g. on the hill etc.) can reflect back on the whole of the unit. When operational we work in the strictest confidence and with the greatest integrity. Frequently we will come under public scrutiny via the media.”

SusSAR are not currently recruiting but any requirement for new team members will be announced via their website or social media channels so please check in regularly if this is something you may be interested in. Call outs increasing year on year Sussex Search and Rescue was formed in 2002, following the extensive search for Sarah Payne in 2000 by Sussex police. Since its formation the team have attended in excess of 600 operational callouts. In recent years callouts have increased year on year: 2018 – 36 callouts; 2019 – 46 callouts; 2020 – 51 callouts; 2021 – 59 callouts Costs of around £25k p/a The team does not receive any direct funding from government and is entirely reliant on grants and donations. On an average year it costs upwards of £25,000 for the team to operate, this includes running a small fleet of vehicles, equipping the water and bank search teams, (foot search teams provide most of their own clothing

and equipment) ongoing training for members, training for new recruits, purchasing essential lifesaving equipment and keeping their communications system up to date. Based on number of callouts, number of team members attending and hours spent, it is estimated that annually Sussex Search and Rescue save Sussex Police circa £500k in search related costs. The service provided to our communities is simply phenomenal, they are ready to be called on 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and often sacrifice their personal time with family and loved ones, to support policing efforts. I am so incredibly proud to be the patron for, and work alongside Sussex search and rescue, who are integral to the policing family and exemplify public service in action. I congratulate all involved in the last 20 years of service, and look forward to our future work together, in keeping those within Sussex safe.” Fundraising for 2022 - can you help? SusSAR have set a target of £20,000 to raise in their 20th year. Individual team members will be taking part in their own fundraising events, and they will be attending a number of public events during the year, such as The 999 Emergency Services Show in Eastbourne in July, and

You can help in many ways, such as: • Do you know of an organisation that would like a presentation on the work of SusSAR? • Do you run a company that is looking to raise funds for a specific charity? • Are you a garage? Would you be able to service SusSAR vehicles for a reduced price (or for free?). • Are you a printing company? Could you print free publicity material to help get the message out? • Are you hosting an event to raise money for charity? Nymans Gardens - Jewel of Sussex Joe Whelan strides though Nyman’s gardens. He suddenly stoops to pick up a piece of paper from the side of a path. Converting a garage to make space
By Nick Roberts - Roberts Miller Redshaw Group Garages as storage space We store a lot of junk in garages. They are a convenient place for all sorts of bits and pieces. But hidden within those walls, lies an opportunity to expand your living area and create a transformative improvement to your property. It’s that time of year again when we venture into our garages just a little more than usual, perhaps to grab the mower, and ponder the question ‘what if?’. The pandemic has permanently changed the way many of us operate on a daily basis and it’s meant that we’re spending more time at home than ever before. Tips for garage conversions With so much space potential, garages offer a low -cost option to quickly gain an office, an extra bedroom, more living space or a utility room. In most cases, garages already have the fundamental requirements to extend into but it’s important to know that there are far more details than you might think when embarking on a conversion.
Whilst planning permission isn’t usually required, it’s imperative building regulations are met with regards to ventilation, fire safety, thermal performance and structural elements. Most garage conversions are straight forward but it’s not unusual for projects to turn complex when work gets underway, and the layers are stripped back to reveal what surprises are in store to ruin your day. Our advice: instruct an architect or builder you can trust to assess your garage before starting the project. It may stop that swear jar from overflowing! An effective use of space Unsurprisingly, demand for conversions is at an all-time high - they’re a cost-effective way of transforming your home. They don’t encroach on our valued gardens, they cause minimum disruption as far as building work goes and they boost the value of your home. This is why they’ve become one of the most popular ways to gain space. www.robertsmillerredshaw.com

Top three 2022 hybrid hatchbacks By Nadia Goldsmith Not quite sold on electric power? Here are three hybrid vehicles that might convince you going green with your vehicle is a great experience. Toyota Prius The latest, fourth-generation Toyota Prius is built on a new platform and its altered 1.8-litre petrol engine comes with improved efficiency and performance. Perhaps the vehicles greatest asset is how normal it is to drive. With a more responsive on part throttle the Prius is well within its comfort zone at high speeds while also remaining a good performer for daily use. This hybrid is great choice for those who want to save money when filling up and don’t have the opportunity to charge at home. Renault Clio E-Tech
Renault is a strong contender with its hybridised version of the Clio. The Clio E-Tech is powered by a complex powertrain that combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with two, smaller electric motors and a tiny 1.2kWh battery. With two
power sources being used seamlessly at once, it is recognised at being punchier that Toyota Yaris and Honda Jazz and holds great real-life practicality. The most credible feature the fact it retains the regular Clio’s handling balance. Toyota Corolla For a hybrid car, the Corolla combines great visual style with well perceived cabin quality and handling sophistication. Based on a new global model platform, the vehicle is at the top of its game in the hybrid motoring world. In its 2.0-litre hybrid form, it even performs with a bit of a sporty edge. For those who prefer to keep their motoring lives simple the Corolla is one of Toyota’s ‘self-charging’ hybrids which is a highly attractive feature for those wanting to make the transition to greener motoring.

Good health as we age Nutrition – part 3 by Heather Smith For our final part of this series, let’s take a look at how we should eat now we’re not 20. I’ve left this one to last because really the upshot is that playing by the rules becomes more and more important as you get older, and I’ve previously written a lot about how to structure your diet. The first thing is to remember that the way you eat really does make a difference to how you feel, how you sleep and to your overall health. The days where we could eat whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted, and suffer no ill effects like weight gain or digestive discomfort are gone, as I’m sure you have already realised. This simply highlights the fact that our bodies take longer to recover now we’re a little older, and so the after effects of going off the rails with food might well be bigger. How sensitive your body is to eating off track is an individual thing; you might find that one meal is enough to upset your digestion and that it then takes a couple of days for it to get back to normal. Or, you might find the odd off track meal
here and there isn’t much of an issue but if you find yourself consistently not paying attention to your diet over several days – like on holiday, or over Christmas for example. The same goes for alcohol. There’s probably nothing wrong with a drink or two here and there, but drinking like you did in your 20’s is likely to make you gain weight and kill your energy levels. The impact of alcohol on the duration of your sleep becomes more noticeable and more impactful the further away from your 20’s you get! Drinking is likely the reason you wake up early and struggle to get back to sleep. You don’t need to eat like a saint all the time, but perhaps do consider what and when you’re going to eat, and to decide in advance when it is worth going off course. www.fitbiztraining.co.uk

St Mary’s C of E Primary School, Washington Potato Planting and Prayer Day Gardening with Squires and Willow Class Move out of the way Monty Don –Willow class are the new gardening stars! As part of their Science lesson, our Reception and Year 1 pupils have been planting potato tubers with the support of Squires Garden Centre. The tubers, compost and pots were all kindly donated meaning that pupils can care for their potatoes here at school in the hope of a bumper crop. Once fully grown, Squires will come and help the pupils harvest them, then take them back to their café to cook into chips! Pupils will then join them over at Squires and sample their school grown delights!
The importance of prayer on Prayer Day Thank you to Mrs Cox, Curate Patrick PearsonMiles, Nick Taylor (Chanctonbury churches) and colleagues for providing a wonderful opportunity for our children to learn more about the importance of prayer during Prayer Day. There were many opportunities for reflection and for the children to ask big questions. Activities included time in a prayer space, painting pebbles, writing prayers and thoughts for others in our own families/community/the world and to appreciate what we are thankful for.
The Pupil Faith Team prayer assembly The Pupil Faith Team also led with a very informative assembly all about types of prayer; including a teaspoon prayer, a Haribo prayer and an M&M prayer, we were all very impressed by their professionalism and confidence! www.stmaryswashington.co.uk

Storrington Primary School Community Arts Project Art projects inspired by the environment Storrington Primary school, in collaboration with the Steyning Arts Society, have enjoyed working on an exciting art project this term titled ‘Hope for the Environment’. A group of our junior children were given the opportunity to work collaboratively to design and make a finished product that encapsulated their dreams for our local environment, both now and in the future. This theme is particularly close to our heart at Storrington Primary School and we were thrilled to work collaboratively with locality schools on this venture. As well as giving pupils the opportunity to develop and explore using a range of paint and multi media techniques, the project also highlighted the role we play in ensuring the arts are accessible and sustainable for all. Developing the curriculum Feedback from our budding artists was extremely positive! We are keen to continue developing our curriculum in this area so that we inspire the

Leaving a charitable gift in your Will By Will Writer Emma Cohen MIPW There’s nothing better than feeling like you have made a difference. Over the past few years, we have seen an increasing popularity in leaving gifts or donations to charities in our clients Wills. Leaving a charitable gift in your Will can be easy, it’s also a great way to leave a lasting legacy and from a financial point of view, it can also reduce the tax implications for the rest of your estate.
Many of us support good causes and local charities throughout our lifetimes, so why not continue that legacy after you have gone? We often suggest that it’s a good idea to research how your gift to the charity that you choose will likely be used or indeed to specify how you would like it to be spent. You may be keen to ensure that your gift is used to fund a certain aspect of a charity, for example if you are giving to a cancer
related charity it maybe that you would like your gift to be spent on funding research.
If you have a small or estranged family specifying a charity as a reserve beneficiary can also be useful to stop intestacy laws taking place should your primary beneficiaries no longer be living at the time of your death. If you decide to leave a significant proportion of your estate to charity and you feel it may leave those expecting to inherit feeling disgruntled enough to challenge your Will, it would be wise to leave a letter of wishes with your Will explaining how you came to your decision. For more information on charitable giving or to discuss making a Will or Lasting Power of Attorney in more detail please do not hesitate to get in touch on 01903 821010 or send an email to: emma.cohen@nsure.co.uk

Storrington neighbourhood wardens Scam calls We hope everyone had a good Easter. We are seeing an increase in Scam calls and have been informed that several residents have been caught by these fraudsters and distraction thefts are again happening locally. Here are some do’s and don’ts. • Don’t tell anyone your security details. • Don’t assume the person who contacted you is genuine. • Don’t let them rush you, putting you under pressure to make a financial decision or asking for personal or security details. • If you are suspicious, go with your instincts. If it is too good to be true, it usually is. • If you are calling your bank to check a call you received is genuine, don’t call straight away as the original caller could still be on the line. Leave it for at least a half an hour or use another phone. • Delete all unsolicited emails or those that look to good to be true.
• Don’t buy at the doorstep or agree to work
being done.
• Get a call blocker installed on your phone.
If you are approached in the street by a person looking for donations for a charity, this could be a distraction theft. The current one is for a bogus deaf organisation. • Don’t fill any details on their sheet. • Don’t feel pressurised to give a donation. • Do ask to see their permit provided by Horsham District Council. • If you wish to donate to charity, go direct to a shop or online. If you think you have been the victim of a Scam, please report it to Sussex Police or Action Fraud. We have arranged a Scam presentation in conjunction with our local PCSO at the leisure centre in Spierbridge Road on 26 May from 1-2pm. 254 Property Market
What’s still driving the property market? Property trends influencing the housing market by Helen Say House prices as a result of the pandemic In 2020, the Bank of England said house prices could fall by 16% due to the pandemic. However, the latest Halifax House Price Index revealed property prices were up 9.8% in 2021. What’s still driving the property market? Changes in spending habits during the pandemic have prompted desires for people to change where they live. A Lloyds Bank report suggests current & aspiring homeowners are re-evaluating what they want in their home in the wake of hybrid working. Prospective home buyers have saved more money for larger deposits. There are 3 main non-house price-related property trends that appear to influence the housing market in 2022. The “Race for Space” Having space has led homebuyers to sell properties & buy larger/more rural homes. In early 2022, Market Financial Solutions published a survey listing top 15 items on a homebuyers wishlist. Garden/ outdoor space, proximity of public parks & spaces/ potential for conversions/extensions out-ranked square footage, property quality & local area.
The rise of the annexe Savills reported that in 2020 enquiries for properties with an annexe increased. Buyers look for increased space for home working, an office or a therapy/consultation room, and an annexe provides somewhere separate to lock yourself away from the main house without having to create a makeshift space in an extra room. The energy efficient home The house building industry has work to do to meet UK Government sustainability targets, and the Lloyds Bank report comments that prospective homeowners place emphasis on energy efficiency - not just for the impact on energy bills. Properties with higher energy ratings can be worth significantly more than less sustainable ones. Due to demand from buyers, UK property prices continue to rise while supply is at an all-time low. With interest rates on the rise, industry experts predict that UK property market will carry on growing in 2022. Helen Say: copywriter/blogger cblservices.co.uk

Ashington Parish Council Planning application, highway works & housing local plan The planning application for the Tearoom and Parish Office development at The Parish Yard has been submitted to HDC. It will likely take 812 weeks for HDC to determine the application and in the meantime, we are talking to potential tenants. WSCC has published its planned Highways works for 2022-23 and there are 2 planned works in Ashington: Penn Gardens – Surface Improvement Scheme; Public Footpath 2611 (which runs from the Church, over the stream and up to Malthouse Lane) – new surface and drainage works. We don’t know full details of these schemes but we’re sure that users of both will welcome the improvements. A Queen’s Platinum Jubilee working group has been established. Early ideas are an afternoon tea event and an exhibition of photos of old Ashington so plans to possibly combine both are being worked on. We have our lamppost safety certificates; we have permission to put up the baskets and the
flowers are ordered – they will be Jubilee themed this year. HDC haven’t yet agreed on their housing Local Plan so that leaves the whole District vulnerable to speculative planning applications, although they would have to meet the water neutrality requirement that Natural England have recently set. However, as one of very few Parishes that have an up-to-date Neighbourhood Plan that has actually allocated sites for our ‘fair share’ of new homes, we are in a very good position to stick to our Neighbourhood Plan and resist speculative development. By planning a future for our village, we are in the best possible position to control our own growth. The Parish Council is in discussion with HDC regarding renewal of the Ashington Neighbourhood Wardens 3-year contract. The Council is checking agreements, budgets and Warden Objectives to make sure that any agreements for the next 3 years are fit for the future. www.ashingtonpc.org.uk

Thakeham Parish Council Platinum Jubilee, mushrooms, planning and football fields
Thakeham village hall
Village Hall Thakeham Village Hall has weekday, daytime and evening slots available for regular hirers. If you’re looking for a venue, please get in touch. (note we’re not looking to increase exercise/ yoga/pilates classes at this time) Marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee On Sat 4 June (17:30 to late), Thakeham will Rock the Jubilee with live music event on Abingworth football field featuring live bands, the Morris men of Chanctonbury Ring, food stalls, bar and kids activities. Free standing room entry, or you can pay to book a table. Make a diary note and visit www.facebook.com/ThakehamEvents/ - especially if you’d like to help run the event! We’re also marking the occasion by planting a tree and putting a new bench by the football fields. Monaghans Mushrooms closure The news of Monaghans' decision to consult staff with a view to closing their Thakeham operation is disappointing. It suggests the end of a tradition of mushroom-growing and horticulture in Abingworth area. It seems that re-investment in infrastructure following sale of the Abingworth Meadows site only delayed the impact of difficult trading conditions. We’ll seek to engage with Monaghans on future plans for the site. Planning Most developments in the district remain held up by the need to meet 'water neutral' requirements, as a result of pressure on existing resources. Several current local planning proposals (e.g. 25-house site at ex-Rushfield Nursery) are affected. Construction resumed on the final 75-house phase of the Abingworth development, which will run into late 2023. At a wellattended March public meeting, the PC agreed to strongly object to another 30-unit scheme proposed for site south of Furze Common Road. Objections included over-development, unsafe
access and not meeting water neutrality criteria. We await the views of HDC planners on this. Abingworth Latest - Allotments New Abingworth allotments are likely to be delivered around mid-2023, and we are currently negotiating details of the specification. The waiting list for plots is now full, but anyone wishing to join a 'standby' list can contact the Parish Office. See: https://thakehamparish.co.uk/allotment/ Football fields Works to improve poor winter drainage of these fields is now planned for this June, but should not inconvenience to field users. Also over the summer, Thakeham FC will be installing new permanent goals on the eastern junior pitch. Annual Parish Meeting Informal Annual Meeting is planned for Monday 23 May, at 7.30pm. The Chair’s Annual Report will be followed by Q&A and free refreshments! Vacancy for a Parish Councillor We have a current vacancy, which we can co-opt to fill. Washington Parish Council Speed survey, Wiston Estate, Planning, Precept and meetings Rock Rd Speed Survey The recent speed survey in Rock Rd, commissioned by the parish council, has confirmed that average speeds along the straight section by Longbury Hill Woods are significantly in excess of the 40mph limit. Councillors agreed to look at provision of a Speed Indicator Device which gives drivers a visual warning of excess speed. Wiston Estate Plan The recent application for infilling and redevelopment of Rock Common Quarry has yet to be determined. But a significant number of local people have made strong objections to what they see as a landfill proposal which they fear, if approved, it could take 50 plus years to fill. Equally, the parish council has objected to the envisaged number of lorry movements and their impact on the already crowded local roads, including Washington Roundabout. The parish council has backed the formation of a community liaison group with the aim of finding acceptable solutions to this issue. The group will also consider other aspects of the Wiston “Whole Estate” plan. Planning & Development As a parish with a “made” Neighbourhood Plan, Washington Parish Council now receives 25% of the Community Infrastructure Levy which is paid by developers when consent is given. The main development in Washington, approved within the Storrington, Sullington and Washington Neighbourhood Plan, is at Vineyards in Old London Rd, generating a substantial contribution. A working party is now reviewing how these funds, together with other retained reserves, can best be deployed to benefit the parish. Arundel By-Pass Public Consultation Councillors unanimously agreed to send a letter of support for the adopted “Grey” route by-pass for the A27 around Arundel. It is hoped that this improvement will help to reduce A27 traffic which diverts across the A283 across the busy Washington roundabout and through Storrington and Amberley. Vandalism at Washington Recreation Ground There have been a number of incidents relating to broken glass and damage at the recreation ground, including damage to the potentially life
saving defibrillator at the Village Hall. Police are aware, and if anyone has any information, please contact the parish clerk. Parish Precept Parish councils are partly funded through a small contribution within your council tax. The council recognises the current pressure on household costs, councillors unanimously agreed to once again freeze the level of the parish precept charge with no increase in 2022. Furthermore, at £38.22 per “Band D” household, Washington’s precept is amongst the lowest in Horsham District. Meetings & Council Information Parish Council Meetings are open to the public but for the moment may still be subject to some Covid restrictions relating to capacity. If you wish to attend, please notify the Clerk and book a place. The next full council meetings are Monday 9th May and Monday 6th June at Washington Village Hall (Dore Room). Following some “teething issues”, our new website is now fully functional, and has all the information on councillors, meetings, minutes, agendas, and current news items relevant to the parish. Interactive maps show local traffic issues, cycle routes and the local weather forecast for five days. You can contact our clerk, Zoe Savill, directly by completing the contact message form on the site. Find us at the website listed below. Join your parish council We currently have vacancies for co-option in both the Heath Common and Washington Wards. All members are volunteers and there is no political affiliation. If you are interested in supporting your local community and having a say in matters that affect our area, please contact the clerk for further information and an application form. clerk@washingtonparish.org.uk www.washingtonparish.org.uk Report from Washington Parish Council. Storrington & Sullington Parish Council Local Plan to be reviewed to achieve housing targets Edited extracts from the Parish Council meeting held on 23rd March 2022 Local Plan - District Councillor Dawe provided an update regarding the delays in production of the Local Plan. Natural England had released a position statement which prevents Horsham District Council (HDC) from approving any planning applications that cannot demonstrate water neutrality and until this can be resolved, no new sites for development can be allocated in the Plan. How this situation would impact upon the numbers of homes being imposed upon HDC by Government was unknown as yet. Work continues, where possible, to ensure that the Local Plan can be produced as soon as possible once a resolution to the water issues and housing numbers has been established. Litter on A24 - Cllr. Dawe would report this to the relevant department. Car Park Improvements. Cllr. Dawe reported that the improvements to Old Mill Drive Car Park would be starting shortly. The Clerk would contact
the Management Company to find out why planters had been placed blocking the steps by Costa Neighbourhood Plan - Cllr. Dawe suggested that it would be prudent for the NP Steering Group to continue to come up with options for development as an alternative to the greenfield site proposed in the draft Local Plan. Mrs Worthington-Leese agreed and explained that the Steering Group had settled upon a strategy to re-evaluate some of the sites that had previously been included in the Neighbourhood Plan but had been withdrawn or changed in the “made” version, with a view to achieving the required number of extra homes. Requests for grants - Storrington Museum had requested its customary grant of £1,000. and this was unanimously approved. Cricket field maintenance - Approved quotation for £2462.50 plus VAT for pre-season works to the recreation field. www.storrington-pc.gov.uk
