LIVELIHOOD RECOVERY PROGRAMME Oxfam and its partners aim for complete recovery of livelihoods losses and support households to diversify their livelihoods to strengthen their resilience to future shocks. The most vulnerable and marginalized people in the earthquake-affected districts still have difficulties accessing reconstruction grant and other benefits provided by the government in absence of legal documents and adequate information to acquire them. Oxfam works to create legal awareness, and supports people to access legal documents—citizenship, vital registration, and single women protection fund. A mobile application Thaaha Chha has also been developed for the same.
We promote community-based DRR to empower communities and strengthen the capacity of municipalities/rural municipalities to formulate and implement disaster management plans. We also develop early warning system and risktransfer mechanisms. We work closely with central and local government in policy and guidelines formulation pertaining to disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
Climate Change Adaptation Our climate change adaptation work is based on technical and consultative method of risk and vulnerability assessment. We provide livelihood support with climate awareness—information on climate change, its causes, implications and the role of communities and institutions in mitigation and adaptation. Our focus is to enhance the economic resilience of poor and vulnerable communities through business support.
Urban Resilience We work with urban poor residing in disaster-prone locations to build their resilience against disasters. We work with the government to prioritize urban disaster risk through policies, planning and budgetary processes.
