Instructor Training Not only do we provide skills training across a broad range of subjects, we also provide instructor training so you can qualify to teach in your chosen subject. Combined course of L3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector (PTTLS) & Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement. This is a five day course and is an excellent starting point for anyone who wishes to teach and assess classroom learning. PTTLS & L3 Award in the Delivery of Conflict Management Training The Conflict Management Trainer will enable you to deliver conflict management at levels 2 & 3. An appropriate teaching qualification equivalent to PTTLS must have been achieved prior to commencing the conflict management trainer qualification. First Aid instructor course We offer 3 variations ranging from the full instructor course which consists of everything that a First Aid instructor will need or reduced combinations of qualifications if you have already achieved some of the required components. See ELCAS page for further details. Security Instructor Course Everything that you need to be able to deliver SIA Door Supervisor or security guarding courses including a tutor pack and a 12 month licence agreement to deliver the L2 RDS physical intervention package. Please be aware that the SIA require trainers to have 3 years front line experience in either guarding or working in premises that sell alcohol. This can include NAAFI’s and venues outside the UK. RTITB Counterbalance/Reach Forklift Instructor course. Enables the candidate to train and test to become a fully qualified RTITB instructor. Basic, Re-Registration and Assimilation courses are available, course duration ranging from 3 to 12 days depending on course type. See Logistics page for further details.

ELCAS Funded Courses
for individuals leaving the Armed Forces ELC NO 4188
RDS Trainers specialise in level 3 courses that are designed to prepare you for employment outside the services. All of our trainers are former Armed Forces, Police or HM Customs & Excise. We understand and have made the transition from a regimented working life to a more informal and sometimes alien working environment. We will give you guidance and support before, during and after your training. Courses are priced as residential and non residential as individuals who live locally will be required to prepare work on an evening but not wish to stay in the hotel. The hotels used by RDS provide a training venue, dinner, bed and breakfast as an inclusive package. Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection 14 days consecutive course. You must hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate or First Person on Scene to be able to attend the course. If you do not hold either of these qualifications then you must attend for an additional 3 days prior to the start of the course to achieve the First Aid at Work certificate. Courses are held in Hull and Colwyn Bay in Wales. Health & Safety and First Aid Courses All of the trainers are occupationally competent and able to answer questions about real issues that you may have concerns about. Training is relaxed and informal. Do not worry about the multiple choice examination as we will stick with you until you successfully complete the course. L3 First Aid at Work Courses are available in First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid. The award in First Aid at Work is a qualification aimed at those who wish to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. L2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling This course is intended as an introduction to moving and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or needing specific training in manual handling as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher training. Persons gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and recognise its importance in ensuring a safer working environment. L2 Award in Fire Safety Awareness/Safety The Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness is a qualification aimed at all staff, particularly new starters in any workplace, where a basic understanding of fire safety is required The Level 2 is for fire wardens or others with responsibilities during an evacuation. L2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace Persons gaining this qualification will know that Health and Safety is the responsibility of everyone within a business, including contractors, visitors and suppliers. The course is certification by the BIIAB and is recommended for anyone working in public houses, off licences, restaurants or any other outlets selling alcohol. Logistics Courses RDS Training has recently launched a series of forklift courses which will be followed with a full range of logistics training. We have our own forklift training facility which is conveniently located and we are really excited about the diversity of courses we will be offering in the near future. Novice Counterbalance and/or Reach Suitable for a candidate who has little or no experience in operating a fork lift truck to gain their licence. Candidates can train on either truck or both over a 5-7 day period. On completion of the course candidates will have all of the basic knowledge & training to operate a fork lift truck. Refresher Counterbalance and Reach Enables a candidate who already holds a certificate of training to update their qualification. Training can be completed on any truck the candidate holds a licence for and has duration of 1 day per vehicle. Once the refresher training has been completed candidates will be re-registered on to the NORS database and their qualification up dated. Pedestrian Operated Pallet Truck Suitable for candidates who wish to operate a powered pallet truck. Training can be carried out on a low level or a stacker truck. Duration depending on previous operating ability of the machine if any usual duration of about a day. Experienced Operator Training Suitable for a candidate who has had previous experience and has no proof of training and testing. Candidates must have a reasonable amount of experience to qualify i.e. years not weeks. Training can be carried out on either counterbalance or reach truck and usually has a 2-3 day duration depending on ability. RTITB Counterbalance/Reach Forklift Instructor course. Enables the candidate to train and test to become a fully qualified RTITB instructor. Basic, Re-Registration and Assimilation courses are available, course duration ranging from 3 to 12 days depending on course type. Candidates must have a valid certificate of fork lift training taken in the 12 months prior to the instructor course start date to qualify for the basic course. Trainers who hold a current certificate of training may be able to attend for less days. Please discuss with the office. NORS registration is included in the fee.

Level 2 Award in Door Supervision If you want to work in a licensed environment such as pubs, clubs, anywhere that alcohol is consumed you will need this qualification and an SIA licence in Door Supervision. Level 2 Up skilling Door Supervisor Qualification This qualification will become mandatory for anyone who holds a non QCF door supervisor qualification as of 4th February 2013. The course consists of Counter Terrorism, First Aid Awareness, Dealing with Children and Young People and Level 2 Physical Intervention in the Security Industry. The course is part self study and one day in the classroom to practice the physical intervention skills. L2 Award in CCTV Operations (Public Surveillance) This award is an SIA requirement for all operatives who monitor the public either in a public area such as a shopping area and operatives supplied on contract by a security company to another company. L2 Award in Physical Intervention for the Private Security Industry This award is a non pain based set of skills to disengage from an aggressor or restrict an individual whilst manoeuvring them. All applicants must have achieved a recognised conflict management level 2 qualification prior to attending this course. L3 Award for Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training in the Private Security Industry This course enables you to deliver the RDS level 2 physical intervention skills. You must already hold a suitable teaching qualification (minimum PTTLS) and an approved conflict management trainer qualification ( C&G 1886 or Edexcel conflict management trainer) One day conversion courses from other approved packages are also available for those who already hold the L3 Award for Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training qualification. L3 Award in the Delivery of Conflict Management Training The Conflict Management Trainer will enable you to deliver conflict management at levels 2 & 3.
