WELCOME TO THE ART GUIDE – WELCOME TO GREAT EXPERIENCES! Art is something that we often take for granted when we are exposed to it, but our lives would be less rich if it wasn't there! This Art Guide should give you a clear view of what is offered in artists and art, both for the benefit of interested visitors and of the citizens in the county. It might be tourists as such, or people with a special interest in art. For both groups, we wish to offer a simple, yet exciting communication of great art experiences. The Art Guide was created through the forming of an informal network of artists, and in cooperation with the art societies and cultural institutions in the area. The beginning of this art cooperation is manifested through two exhibitions, first at Vejen Art Museum and then at the Sønderskov Museum.
It is important that we appreciate our artists, support them and ensure the best way to exhibit their artwork. We believe that, by doing this, we have contributed with positive artistic and cultural experiences. It is our hope to hereby create a simple contact to our artists and art museums in the area. Read more on the website www.kunstguide-vejen.dk Have a "great art experience"!

ANETTE BENDIXEN Maltvej 7a, Askov 6600 Vejen Phone 75 36 52 82 anettebendixen@hotmail.com www.anettebendixen.dk
FACTS In recent years I have worked with my own unique textile technique shaped by darning pictures. The darning pictures are derived from an old dream of being able to sew into the air. I start with an open frame and then sew back and forth – draw the thread from edge to edge until it is tight. The thread weaves in and out, over and under itself in tight and open areas. This technique makes it possible to work freely in the whole picture surface, to sew on top and to cover or blend the colour. Measurements: 140 x 210 cm.

FACTS I live and have my workshop and exhibitions at Rødding Højskole (Rødding Folk High School) and you can find me there most of the time, but you might like to contact me first if you wish to make an appointment. I have an education as a product designer and thus I work widely with different materials and techniques, especially with Raku-burnt ceramics, cold-glass, jewellery and macro-photography. All my pieces are unique specimens and of my own design. My ideas and expressions come from the puzzling and playful. I am wondered and fascinated by the small, quaint things and of new ways to put things together.

FACTS OHM's LAW If our bodies left a luminous trail in the exhibitions, the same way that a brush leaves paint, then light would be a larger sculpture than the works of art are. Our gaze reaches towards colours and signs. Our attention follows a line, and moves the balance and the feet underneath it so that new signs and colours are within reach. OHM's LAW expresses a connection between the dance of the brushes, works and bodies in the room.

FACTS I get my inspiration from people around me. I use the clown as a character – trying to show the human soul and tell stories with the humour and childish mind of a clown. FACTS It is always exciting to turn over a new stone. To take the stone as it is and create a new image, either with the stone in its own rawness, or to create a sculpture from my thoughts and inner peace. This is a balance that means a lot to me when I work. The stones that I use come from all over the world, for instance from China, Brazil, India, Africa etc. And each stone has its individual colour, power and soul. All of this helps to inspire and develop me, so I get the best from the stone.

Hospitality for more than 200 years and still going strong – WELCOME! Hovborg Kro is situated between Ribe and Grindsted (road no. 425) by Holme Å. The old moor inn was built as early as 1790, and from the start it became the gathering place for many cattle drivers and dealers who drove the large cattle herds down south. A guided tour at the inn is an experience in itself – you really sense and feel its history because the authenticity and originality are lavished with great care. With a gentle touch, and without ruining the old atmosphere, the modern facilities which the guests of today appreciate, are built in.
AT HOVBORG KRO THE PAST AND THE PRESENT ARE TRULY IN HARMONY.

Restaurant Ribehøj is situated only 15 minutes' drive from Denmark's oldest town of Ribe. Ribehøj is a popular dining place for the entire region. In appealing surroundings you can enjoy culinary experiences such as well-cooked Nordic food with venison from deer as our specialty. From the restaurant you have a view of the beautiful lakes in the park where curious deer reside. In the summer season we serve from our big wooden terrace with a direct view of lakes and
green nature. In the soft light of dusk both the terrace, lakes and park have an enchanted glow. You can visit Ribehøj's cosy fireplace lounge both before and after you dine at the restaurant. The beautiful fireplace lounge, which is built with logs in Canadian style, offers refreshments, draught beer and exciting cocktails, at the sound of a fire crackling in the open fireplace. The Museum at Sønderskov Manor is a regional museum for Vejen County. The museum frames a multitude of special cultural arrangements, such as lectures, concerts, family arrangements, excursions etc. Every year we host arrangements like the Rose Exhibition, the Renaissance Festival and Christmas at Sønderskov for the entire family. The museum has permanent exhibitions of the Manor's history and restoration, the history of the garden, the weaving schools at Askov Folk High School, local archaeological excavations, etc. The permanent exhibitions are supplemented by theme exhibitions and special arrangements with open workshops. In the garden a part of the Manor's kitchen- and herbal gardens is reconstructed. This project is run by volunteers, and in connection with the garden, Malt Herred Bee-
keeping Association has established a bee-farm for schools. In the landscape around the Manor there are paths with markings of special chosen localities. In the historic basement environment below the museum there is a cosy restaurant that serves both lunch and a la carte dinners. Read more at www.sonderskov.dk
