Thur 20 October 2011, 10 am - 12 am. Sønderho Gamle Fuglekøje, Landevejen 105, Sønderho, Fanø. Sønderho Old Duck Decoy is a large manmade trap consisting of an artificial pond fitted with 6 pipes. It was originally used to catch wild ducks for food. Today the duck decoy is used for the ringing of birds. Fanø was the only place in Denmark where four duck decoys were erected. Two of these were in use until 1931, when the use of duck decoys for catching ducks for human consumption was banned. From 1960 to 1990 Sønderho Old Duck Decoy was used by the Wildlife Institute of Biology for the ringing of ducks. This work has now been resumed by the Association for the Preservation of Sønderho Old Duck Decoy. Organizer Sønderho Gamle Fuglekøje (Free admission) Experience one of Denmark's greatest carnivores - the harbour seal Thur 20 October 2011, 12 am - 5.30 pm.
