DOTS DOTS – District Officals Training Seminar was held in two phases. • Phase 1 – ROOTS • Phase 2 - DREAM The first phase named “ROOTS” was held on 13th May 2012 in Nahar Hall, Whites Road. The motive of DOTS – 1 is to educate the basics and the Roles and Responsibilities of District Rotaract Council. The event started by 10:00 AM with welcome address. Followed by Welcome address, inauguration was on track with Introduction of members, address by DRR elect – Rtr. PP Afser Ali and DOTS - Chairperson – Rtr. PP Swathi Sujir gave the context about ROOTS. Vote of thanks was presented by DRS elect – Rtr. Deepak. The first half of the program was handled by ADRR elects Rtr. PP Santhosh and Rtr. PP Sasi with interactive management games like On your feet, Prism and Road Map for District Officials followed by Lunch break. The second half of the day was kick started with chick dance by PDRR Rtr. Solomon Victor followed with the session handled by DRR elect – Rtr. PP Afser Ali and DRS elect Rtr. Deepak. They put in plain words on facts and History of Rotary and Rotaract, along with the Roles and Responsibilities of District Officials. An interactive session was also held after the session. After the session a handbook on Roles and Responsibilities of District Officials was released by Rtr. PP Vinoth, EB Chairman elect. The event was adjourned with fellowship.

The second phase named “DREAM (Dedication | Responsibility | Engage | Attitude | Motivate) “was hosted by Rotaract Club of Ethiraj College for Women sponsored by Rotary Club of Madras Chennapatna. The event started with Welcome address by Rtr. Soundharya and inauguration was on track. DRR elect Rtr. PP Afser Ali addressed the gathering followed by Rtr. PP Swathi Sujir – DOTS Chairperson set the context of DREAM. Rtr. PP Ganesh introduced the Chief Guest of the event Rtn. Raja Srinivasan followed by the Chief Guest addressed the gathering. Rtr. IPP. Vaishnavi – DREAM Secretary gave the vote of thanks. The first session of the day was carried by PDG Rtn. Subbu. He made a presentation on “What is a count to be DO?” He also took sessions on Team Building, Goals and Achievements and Do’s and don’t’s being District Officials. After the session Management Trainer Ramesh from onefluenzer carried the session with Management games. He conducted activities on interaction, thinking, communication and teamwork. The first half of the event was ended with lunch break.

The second half of the day was handled by Past Rotaractor Praveen from Rotaract Club of Zenith. He screened a movie on Team Building, also interacted with the Rotaractors. After the movie screening, DRR elect – Rtr. PP Afser Ali and DRS elect – Rtr. Deepak shared the year theme, tentative planned projects of DRC 12-13. The event ended with valedictory ceremony. DRR elect – Rtr. Afser Ali gave the Welcome address, followed by the chief Guest of the Valedictory was introduced by Rtr. Indu. Rtn. Rajesh, President from Rotary Club of Madras Chennapatna was the Chief Guest for Valedictory. The faculty co – ordinator Ms Jayanthi also addressed the gathering. The event ended with Vote of Thanks by DRS elect – Rtr. Deepak.

PETS & SETS PETS & SETS named “Aventura – working towards a new dawn!” was held on 23rd and 24th June, 2012 hosted by Rotaract Club of Loyola College sponsored by Rotary Club of Madras. The Project Chairperson was Rtr. Soundharya from Rotaract Club of Spectrum and Project Secretary was Rtr. Tanay from Rotaract Club of Loyola College.

This was followed by the presentation of project by the 4 teams into which all the participants were divided. The afternoon session of communication and goal setting was taken by PDRR Rtr. Jaby John succeeded by a photo session. In the valedictory Rtr. Vaishnavi of Rotaract Club of Chellamal college and Rtr. Dinesh of Rotaract Club of CEG bagged the star performer female and male award respectively and Zone - 5 ZRR Rtr. Dhanakodi got the best ZRR award for getting maximum number of registrations.

DAY1 The two day event started off at the Lawrence Sundaram Auditorium on 23.06.2012, Loyola college at 10:00AM with 55 clubs represented by 127 rotaractors and also 51 District officials addressed by Rtn. Murali Rao, Rotaract chairman as the Chief guest and Rtn. Venkat Ramani, Rotary Club of Madras as the guest of honour for the inauguration. The ice breaking was done by Rtr. Britto following which was a session on Organizational Chart by PDRR Rtr. Solomon Victor. Post lunch Mr. Michael Vetha Siromony enlightened everyone with Disaster Management which was then followed by the District presentation. The participants were then briefed for a session on Day 2 and Day 1 ended with a cup of tea and samosa. DISTRICT ROTARACT COUNCIL 12-13

URCHAAGAM As the quote says “First impression is the best impression”, Urchagaam – District Rotaract Assembly is the first district event conducted during the year 2012-13. It was conducted at Chettinad Vidyashram School Auditorium on 26th August, 2012 from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. This event was awaited by many rotaractors as the main agenda of this event was to enlighten the roles and responsibilities of each and every rotaractors. The response was also Rtr. responsibilities in the society. PDRR Jaby John took green rotaractors session, which was enthralling. The whole crowd enlighten with knowledge. PDG Rtn. Benjamin Cherian took the President, Vice President & Sergeant at arms session as he led the dist few years back, he shared his experience to stay up front and how to lead the year effectively. Rtn. Vaidhyanathan S. took the Secretary & Joint Secretary session as he spoke about the importance of secretarial roles. Rtn. Prasanna Shenoy took the treasurer session, as he renowned Chartered Accountant he threw the light that treasurer is not mere accountant job rather than that he has to moderate the fund flow of the club. Rtn. Chidambarakumar took the director - international service session, from the inception he has been fine tuning the international projects happening in our district and he shared the same. overwhelming; more than 2000 rotaractors attended the event and also first time in the history of Rotary International District 3230 to happen like this.

The event kicked started with an inauguration at the main auditorium. Chief Guest was Rtn. Raja Seenivasan, District Governor, Rotary International District 3230 & Guest of Honour was Rtn. PP. George B Cherian, Assistant Governor, Rotary International District 3230. District Rotaract Representative (DRR) & Rtr. PP. Arjun Raja, Chairman started with welcome address.

Mr. Varindar Singh Bobby took the director – professional service session shared his experience for the betterment in the avenue.

Highlight of the Inauguration was launching of District Rotaract Directory, which contains useful information and contacts of the leaders of Rotary International District 3230 Rotaractors and also Clubs information along with their members. Rtr. PP Vinoth Nagarajan, Chairman – Editorial Board and Rtr. Neelesh, Directory Chairman were the key persons for coming up with beautiful directory.

Mr. P. S. Seshadri took the director – club service session with his witty jokes and thinkable ideas. He created a new meaning for the avenue. Rtn. Satyan Bhatt took the PRO & Editorial Board session where he highlighted the role of both as they are the lifeline of the club’s branding. Rtn. Sudarshan Rao Y took the new sizzling project taken by our Rotary

Keynote Speaker session was taken by eminent speaker, who is popular in Tamil Debates, many TV Channels for his speech. Pattimandaram Raja S who handled the key note speaker session, with sizzling speech the whole crowd stunned and listened to his speech. DRR & Chairman addressed the gathering and shared their experience. Rtr. PP Praveen T V, Secretary of the event gave the vote of thanks along with his experience of working with the team for the event. After a good food to their brains, rotaractors need to fill their tummy. For this our own upcoming rotaractors from Rotaract Club of Ambattur, Rtr. Susheel Gautam his own catering Aruna Foods served all the rotaractors with sumptuous meal. Entertainment session was done by John Britto group, for more than 45 minutes they performed and rotaractors were stunned by seeing their performance. ALERT a session handled by Mr. Vasudevan highlighting how to handle the emergency situations. Event successfully ended with National Anthem.

RYLA The District RYLA wa held on September 28th, 29th and 30th, 2012 at Blue Bay Resort hosted by the Rotaract Club of Ambattur. The Dist RYLA begun with huge craze as Rylarians boarded the bus from AIR INDIA Office by sharp 9:00AM. Later they were welcomed in the venue with welcome drinks and allocation of room till 12:00AM. The inauguration started by sharp 2:00PM in the presence of Rtn. Murali Rao, District Rotaract Chair as the chief guest; Rtn. Ganeshan as guest of honor; and the face of RYLA, Babu Sheshadri. By 3:00PM the sessions started with Rtn. Olivannan PDG who spoke on Economical Changes and Management. After a small tea break by 4:30PM Dr. Suresh spoke on Current Social Issues. And by 6:30PM Rylarians were allowed to practice for the talent fest and by 8PM the cultural started; and the day came to an end with an mouth watering dinner. Second day began with high tempo and completely supported with nature an morning with an awesome climate, the Rylarians enjoyed the climate as they were taken to beach for outbound activities till 12:00AM. And by 1:00PM a small but an effective session by Shihaain Hussaini who taught unconventional tools for leadership development. After Tummy filled the Rylarians were on the D Floor by 3:00PM as PDRR Rtr. Jaby John took a session which was fun filled and all about team work. After the high tea it was Mr. Tiwari, CERO Express Avenue who spoke on Crisis Management, Strategic Planning & Building your network. And here comes the best meal filled with Kebab and Tikkas were Rylarians enjoying their meal and here goes the music on for DJ Night. The dance floor was rocking till 11:30PM and after which it was time for some dessert and refreshments which gave them energy to continue their show and by 12:00AM it was time for Sweet dreams. The last day of RYLA was again a huge tempo for all, as after some exercise with Babu Sheshadri, all jumped into beach for some games and followed by NERUKU NER, a session by our own Rotaractors. All the Rylarians were segregated based on their aspirations and dream; and were few of our

the Best Male/Female Winner/Runner were also recognized and awarded. With a Small high Tea all Rylarians boarded the bus heading towards their house and all eyes filled with tears of joy.

ZONAL ROTARACT CONVENTION - PULSE PULSE, The Zonal Rotaract Convention - 1 was started with a traditional dance with 1000+ rotaractors. Welcome note was given by Rtr.Balaji Chairman of the event. After which the dignitaries were escorted to the dias by the chairman, secretary. Rtn. Murali Roa was the CHIEF GUEST for the day and Rtn. Prasanna shenoy being the GUEST OF HONOUR. Then the event was inaugrated by the lightining of the kuthuvilaku. DRR.PP.Afser Ali gave opening remarks after which Rtn. Prasanna Shenoy was felicitated. Vote of thanks by Rtr. Siddheqha secretary of the event. Rotaractors interacted with them on their future plans. After an Authentic South Indian Breakfast all were ready in hall by 10:00AM as G.J. Siddharth spoke on Motivation and made all people hearing to him into tears. To end but not the end, it was Rtn. Gnanavelan who spoke on ZEN Principles and later which was took over by Babu Sheshadri for some time and heading towards the last course of meal of RYLA. And yes this time it’s the end were it was PDRR Prasanna who took a session on friendship. And last it was the formal Valedictory in the presence of Rtn. Shankar Subramaniam was all the teams were recognized and mainly were DISTRICT ROTARACT COUNCIL 12-13

It was a privilege to have Thiru.S.V.Sekar as a speaker who shared his ideas and views with the vibrant young rotaractors. It was an interactive session ZRC-1 had zones 1,3,5 and 7 w ere all the zones made presentation on their projects. The BEST ZONE AWARD was presented to zone 1 and 5. And the BEST BRANDING was given to zone 3 and BEST ZONE PRESENTATION was awarded to zone 7. The ZONAL FEST WINNERS were zone 5. And the judges panel included Rtn. Murali Rao and Rtn.Babu Seshadri. We provided food to all rotaractors. Both veg and non- veg biryani was given. All the four zones participated in the Zonal Fest with their ZRR’S and ZRS’S Rtr. PP Afser Ali - DRR, Rtr. Deepak - DRS

ZONAL ROTARACT CONVENTION CELEBRATION Celebration The Zonal Rotaract Convention - II was started with a traditional dance with 1000+ rotaractors. Welcome note was given by Rtr. Rajendran was the CHIEF GUEST for the day and Mrs. Latha Pandiyarajan being the GUEST OF HONOUR. Then the event was inaugurated by the lightening of the kuthuvilaku. DRR.PP.Afser Ali gave opening remarks after which MM. Rajendran was felicitated. Vote of thanks was given by Rtr. Manoj from RC REC. It was a privilege to have Mrs.Latha Pandiarajan (Director – MAFOI consultants) as a speaker who shared her ideas on interview factor and communication techniques to all the young rotaractors. ZRC-2 had zones 2, 4, 6 and 8 were all the zones made presentation on their projects. The BEST ZONE AWARD was presented to zone 4. And the BEST BRANDING was given to zone 6 and BEST ZONE PRESENTATION was awarded to zone 2. The ZONAL FEST WINNERS were zone 6. And the judges’ panel included Rtr. PDRR. Chennai Rylarian gathered at the Take off Point – Rotary Centre from where they transported to Venue. The 1st bus reached the YMCA Yelagiri at 6:06 PM; followed by the 2nd bus that reached around 6:36 PM. Rotaractors had their lunch and took their time of break. The inauguration Function started in the Chill Climate @ 6.56 P.m in YMCA Conference Hall. The Chief Guest was Rotary Conference Chairman Rtn. Jawarilal Jain and the Guest of Honor Parent Club Rotary Club of Madras North East Rtn.Subharao. Other Rotarians like Rtn.Vinoth, Rtn.Raveender, Rtn.Arun Kannan, Rtn.Ram Kumar, Rtn.Fakrudeen and Rtn.Basheer. Rtn.Babu Seshadri was the observer for the 3 days. MC for the Inauguration is Rtr.PP.Rakesh Kothari. The inauguration started by Collaring the DRR.Rtr.PP.Afser Ali by Rtr.Karthick Raja District Sergeant at arms and Host Club President Rtr.PP.Yuvabala Collared by Rtr.PP.Banu Priya. Welcomed the Rylarian’s by LEAD Chairman Rtr.PP.Vinoth and followed by the Presidential Address by Rtr.PP.Yuvabala. (MDIO Secretary) as the GUEST OF HONOUR and Rtn.Chandrasekaran was the special guest. DRR.PP.Afser Ali gave back his feedback and the dignitaries on the dais were felicitated followed by Vote of thanks by the secretary. Celebration – ZRC-II ended with great applause. The Launch of the Kit was done by Chief Guest Rtn Jawarilal Jain sir presented to Rtn. Pres. Subba Rao sir Guest of honor. A two side colored sweater was the kit given to all the Rylarian’s to cope with the Yelagiri cool Climate. Followed by the Launch of kit, the DRR address was given by DRR Rtr. PP. Afser Ali which was followed by the Launch of the E-Magazine by Guest of Honor Rtn. Pres. Subba Rao Sir Presented to ADRS Rtr. PP. Swathi. Rtn. Pres Subba Rao gave their felicitation and presented the memento to him. Rtr.Lenin introduced our Chief Guest Rotary Conference Chairman Rtn.Jawarilal Jain. Rtn.Jawarilal Jain, in his speech he shared about the formula for Success. His Speech makes Rylarian’s more comfortable and motivates a lot. It’s a good start for

LEAD - UPCOUNTRY RYLA District Rotaract Council 12-13 conducted the Annual District Upcountry RYLA - LEAD which is hosted by Rotaract Club of Zenith and it’s held on 21st Dec, 22nd Dec & 23rd Dec 2012 at YMCA Camp, Yelagiri. The Chairman for the event was Rtr.PP. Vinoth and the Secretary was Rtr. Senthil Kumar, Co Chairman was Rtr.PP.Rakesh Kothari and Co Secretary was Rtr.Lenin. The event was a camping experience for more than 135 Rotaractors of our district where 86 Rotaractors from Upcountry and 49 Rotaractors from City Rotaractors. More than 90% of the Rotaractors were Green Rylarian. DISTRICT ROTARACT COUNCIL 12-13

The First Session was handled by Rtn.Srikanth from Rotary Club of Madras South West. Rtr.Lenin introduced our Speaker for the Session. This Session is mainly to Know about each others. Each Club one Representative introduced their club members after that he shared about the team spirit. We Presented the Memento. Next Session is handled by Rtn.Babu Seshadri and he was introduced by Rtn.Srikanth. This session is all about DOS and DONTS of RYLA and also split up into 4 different teams. After the session got over we distributed the Kit (Sweater) to all the Rylarian’s. The Rylarian’s went for dinner and returned to the Ground for Camp Fire. Rylarian’s expressed their talents and its helps each and every Rylarian’s to mingle with the teams. Rylarian’s went to bed at 11.30 P.m but for the organizers we had a review meeting and planning for next day The Next Day kicked off with a breakfast @ 8.15 A.m. Followed by we had a Management games Session. This Session was handled by Rtr. Sasi Kumar. A game includes communication, team building, trusting the team member in the mode of activities for the Rylarian’s and he was felicitated by LEAD Chairman Rtr.PP.Vinoth. After this session we went to lunch @ 12.30 P.m. After the Yummy Lunch, the session was handled by Rtn.Shashidar from Bangalore. He is a Chairman for District International Ryla Committee and Chairman for Champion RYLA Committee. Rtr.PP.Rakesh Kothari introduced our speaker for the session. He handled the topic – “Brand Marketing”. He Split up the teams into 10 and there were excercises on Brand marketing Followed by we had a Hi Tea. After the Hi tea the session was continued in Ground where we had a Team activities followed by the team activity each team explained their brand. We felicitated with memento. He gave a Cap to all the Rylarian’s. Rtn.Babu Seshadri took a session on Communication and also he conducted Personality Test. Followed by this session we had a session on Rotaract Orientation. This Session is handled by DRR.PP.Rtr.Afser Ali. He was introduced by LEAD Chairman Rtr.PP.Vinoth. He explained about Rotaract through Presentation. After the session got over we went to Dinner. Once Dinner got over we had a DJ Night. DJ played by DJ Roars Rtr.Lenin. In Between DJ we had a surprise visit of Santa Clause and we celebrated Rtr.Keerthana and Rtr.Ajay Birthday by cutting the cake. Santa Clause gave chocolates and danced with the Rylarian’s. Santa clause was acted by Rtr. DISTRICT ROTARACT COUNCIL 12-13

PP.Solomon Rajesh and again DJ started. We danced with the rhythm of songs in a chill climate. DJ ends @ 11.27 P.m. All the Rylarian’s went to bed. Organizer had a Review meeting and started Planning for tomorrow. Last Day of the RYLA started with Breakfast and after that we went for trekking. All the Rylarian’s had a wonderful experience by climbing the mountain. They enjoyed a lot. After the trekking we had a small break. We also had a feedback session where Rylarian’s shared their 3 days experience of Positive and negative feedbacks and they filled the feedback form and submitted to us. Rtr. PP Afser Ali - DRR, Rtr. THANGAME THANGAM Now it’s time for Valedictory Function. The chief guest for the day is Rtn.Babu Seshadri. LEAD Chairman Rtr.PP.Vinoth gave his chairman Address followed by the Launch of Calendar by Chief Guest Rtn Babu Seshadri and handed over to Dr.Liyahath John Faculty coordinator of Islamiah College. Presidential Address was delivered by Rtr. Pres Yuvabala followed by the Launch of Magazine by DRR Rtr. PP. Afser Ali and handed over to Mr.Kishore sir Faculty Coordinator of Sacred Heart’s College. DRR Remarks by DRR.Rtr.PP.Afser Ali. Chief Guest for the day Rtn.Babu Seshadri addressed the gathering and did the honor of launching the Certificates and handed over to President Rtr.Kishan Chand from Rotaract Club of Thiruvanamalai. We presented the memento to Rtn. Babu Seshadri as a token of love.

We took part in the Interact Conference Thangame Thangam, which was held on 19th and 20th January 2013. It was conducted by the Rotary International District 3230 and Rotaractors helped in organizing the event. The two day event had sessions and competitons like singing, dancing, debate. PDRR Rtr. Sujith Kumar adressed the Interactors. Also District Interact Council was constituted for the first time.

Awards were announced by DRR Rtr.PP.Afser Ali and DRS.Rtr.Deepak. LEAD Male Winner – Rtr.Surender from Rotaract club of Arakonam Jaya Arts and Science College LEAD Female Winner – Rtr. Sherin from Rotaract club of Sacred Heart’s College. LEAD Male Runner Up – Rtr.Thulasi from Rotaract Club of Rajalakshmi Polytechnic College LEAD Female Runner Up – Rtr.Saral Soundararani from Rotaract club of Gudiyattam. Best Team – Green After the Awards, DRS.Rtr.Deepak introduced the each and every organizer and applauded their efforts in making LEAD a great success. Vote of thanks by DRS Rtr.Deepak. THINK! ANNUAL DISTRICT ROTARACT CONFERENCE Annual District Rotaract Conference Think! - celebrate life, was planned in a grand manner. The work for confference started in August itself. A series of newsletters were released creating buzz around the event. The conference team also hosted 6 DRC meetngs to keep the momentum going for THINK! This year’s conference Think! has many firsts to its credit. After nearly a decade, Registration forms were rolled out for the delegates and registrations closed by 31st December 2012. For the first time customised ID cards with each delegate’s name was created. A dedicated SMS portal was used to disseminate information about the conference throughout the duration of the preparation. Another first was the concept of Pre-conference. One major first was that we had a title sponsor in the form of SBI Mutual funds who presented our District Rotaract Conference Think! We had advertisements running for 7 days in the prestigious newspaper ‘the hindu’ before and ont he day of Conference. We had leading corporate names like apollo hospitals, Green Trends, Snap Fitness as our partners. Think! was spread across 3 days for the very first time from 22nd to 24th Feb 2013. The conference was conducted at Kumara Raja Muthiah Hall, Chettinad Vidyashram School auditorium. Conference team consisting of 150 Rotaractors was chaired by Rtr. DRRE Ramkumar Raju A. and the secretary Rtr. Tarun Murugesh. Before the conference, a talent hunt title CREATE was held on 10th Feb 2013 at Ethiraj College Auditorium hosted by the Rotaract Club of Ethiraj College for Women. The event focussed on bringing ou the talent of Rotaractors of Ethiraj College for Women. The event focussed on bringing out the talent of Rotaractors through competitions in Choreo, Singing, Spell bee, Mime etc. Rotaractors from all clubs participated for this audition event. The finalist of CREATE performed during conference Think! Rtr. Birtto Club service director was the chairman for the event. Rtr. Monika from Rotaract Club of Ethiraj was the co chairman, Rtr. Ansar from Green Galaxy was the Secretary and Rtr. Varshini was the co - secretary. Pre conference NJoy was held on 22nd February 2013. It was a gala dinner night with the District Governor Rtn. Raja Seenivasan V., District First lady Rtn. Jayanthi Raja Seenivasan, PDG Rtn. Olivannan, Rtn. Subramaniam A. and leading Rotarians from various clubs like Rtn. PP Indra Subramaniam, Rtn. was chaired by Rtr. PP Soundarya and secretary was Rtr. Santhana Krishnan. The main conference started on 24rd Feb 2013 at 9AM. Rtn. DG Raja Seenivasan was the Chief Guest. Rtn. Krishnamurthy Vijayan, co chairman, MI Capital India was the Guest of Honor. DRR Rtr. PP Afser Ali welcomed all the delegated and highlighted the sessions in store for the 2 days of conference. The solemn ceremony saw the launch of the conference kit containing a bag, pen stand and gift vouchers from conference sponsors. Conference souvenir containing reports of Rotaract clubs in Rotary International District 3230 along with many interesting information was also launched. Both the dignitaries inspired the rotaractors with their speech. District First lady Rtn. Jayanthi Raja Seenivasan also addressed the Rotaractors and touched their hearts. Rtr. Deepak C, DRS presented the Vote of thanks for inauguration. The event then moved on to the keynote address by Mr. Raja Krishnamurthy aka kitty, a veteran film actor and an established management trainer. He spoke ont he importance of thinkin for the youth.

The focus of the pre conference was honouring Rotary Clubs in Rotary International District 3230 by the Governor for support to the Rotaract movement. Vinod Saraogi for his continuous and dedicated support to the Rotaract movement. NJoy also saw the celebration of the foundation day of Rotary on its eve by a cake cutting. There was also an interactive alternative-quiz competition conducted by Rtr PP Aditya Mohan on unknown Rotary facts. Rotarians, PDRRs and Rotaractors participated with zeal and enthusiasm in the quiz. Rtr. Ajith Kumar,conducted a mime display. The day ended with a pre conference dinner. The next session was the hallmark session of our conference - the example to youth award (ETYA). This year’s ETYA was presented to Mr. Vijay kuamr K. IPS (Retd.) Senior security advisor, Ministry of Home affairs, Government of India. He could not be present physically to receive the award since he was posted on a high a high security mission in Jharkhand but he gave a video message to the Rotaractors and accepted the award from Rtn. Murali Rao District Chairman - Rotaract and Rtr. DRRN Arjun Raja on behalf of the Rotaractors of Rotary International District 3230 who travelled all the way to New Delhi to meet him and present the award. Mr Vijay Kumar spoke of his association with 3230 as a Rotaract Alumni of St. Joseph’s College, Trichy in the year 1970 -71 when it was still a part of the larger RI District 320. He humbly accepted the award by requesting the rotaractors to aim beyond the ordinary and to always keep focus on what they wanted from life. His crisp but inspiring speech urged rotaractors to keep the idea of service always on top of their mind while doing anything. He moved the rotaractors by focusing his speech on what is expected and required of the youth today. The award was symbolically presented by Mr. Walter Devaram I., Former director General of Police, Tamilnadu and his mentor. awards were presented by the District Rotaract Council along with Cavinkare Ltd. We had Mr. Vishal Simon Joseph, Asst. Vice President for the knowledge management, SBI Mutual funds as the next speaker who spoke on the importance of financial planning for youth. The next speaker was Mr. Arunachalam Muruganantham who was conferred with the Changemaker award. Although lacking in formal education, he has created a social revolution in coimbatore by manufacturing sanitary napkins through selfhelp groups for Rs. 1 whereby empowering rural women. He is a noted TED speaker ans he inspired the rotaractors with his speech. The award was presented by Rtn. Sudarsana Rao, Director - Happy Village. This award was presented by District Rotaract Council along with Srinivasa Foundation. The next session was by Mr. Ramesh prabha who is a leading entrepreneur of chennai and an alumnus of IIM Calcutta who spoke on the spirit of entrepreneurship with case studies. The day ended with Choreo, Dance and singing competition among various clubs and host performances.

Vasumathi Marimuthu, District Chairman - Innerwheel was a special guest. Rotaract Achievement award was presented to Rtr. Zenthil aka DJ Zenfrom Rotract Club of Madras Central and Rtr. Britto from Rotaract Club of Loyola Community for increasing the pride of Rotaract by excelling in their respective chose professions. This award was presented by the DRC along with Rotary Club of Madras East. Allt he 150 organizers were then felicitated with a citation. The formal event ended with a vote of thanks by te event secretary Rtr. Tarun Murugesh. This was followed by DJ Night by DJ Zen.

On 24th Feb 2013, the day started with the session of Mr. Stephan Cinnaswamy, Director - Corporate affairs and HR, Strides Air Systems Pvt. Ltd., who is an established corporate trainer spoke on ‘How to be an entrepreneur?’ The next session was by Mr. Natarajan R., Superintendent of customes, chennai who is a former National Athlete who spoke on drugs, health and fitness. We then had an inspiring session titled ‘Are we on righ path’ by PDRR Sujith Kumar, Location Head - HR, Infosys and a recipient of Icon of Rotaract. We then had Young achiever award presented to Masters Shravan and Sanjay Kumaran who are young CEO’s and mobile application developers. The award was presented by the PDG Rtn. Shankara Subramaniam. This award was presented by the District Rotaract Council along with the Rotary club of madrs. The finale of fashion walk was held next. Rtr. Salman from Rotaract Club of SRM University won the Mr. Pothys award and Rtr. Kavya Suresh from Rotaract Club of Ethiraj College for women won the Ms. Pothys. WORLD ROTARACT WEEK CELEBRATION World Rotaract Week was initiated by the DISTRICT SEARGENT TEAM for the year 2012 – 13. On 2nd of March we kick started our first project ‘ROTARACT CRICKET LEAGUE’ (RCL) ‘ a fundraiser cricket match which was held at Somasundaram ground, T.nagar On 11th March , 2nd project ‘ROTARACT LIVE’ was initiated to create awareness in Social Networking sites such as Facebook, where , we the Rotaractors of RI Dist 3230 changed our profile picture and cover picture to the World Rotaract Week logo On 12th March , greetings from WRW team were sent to all Presidents & Secretaries in our District through e –mail with the World Rotaract Week logo attached. On 13th March blood donation camp along with Rotary was held. About 4800 units of blood was collected. On 14th and 15th March Road Safety Campaign were hosted jointly with many college based clubs in and around the city. On 16th March we had our World Rotaract Week Celebrations at Spencer Plaza. Rtn. GANESAN sir was honoured as “PILLAR OF SUPPORT” for extending his support throughout the year 2012 -13 for Rotaract. In addition to these, a SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN was held on the same day in order to promote the World Rotaract Week. In addition to these, various competitions such as LOGO designing, POSTER designing, PHOTOGRAPHY contest and SLOGAN writing were conducted for the Rotaractors and prizes were distributed on the day of WRW celebrations in Spencers.

• HURRAY CLUB – A Search Within is an initiative by the District Entertainment Committee, which has been put forward in order to welcome and appreciate the upcoming latent talent of Rotaractors from different fields.

On 11th August District Sports team has conducted Volley ball, Throw ball for girls in Anna university collage ground. In this totally 4 teams participated in throw ball and 2 teams participated in volley ball. In this tournament Rotaract club of S. S. S. Jain collage won the first place in both volley ball & throw ball, Rotaract club of Ethiraj college were the runner up in Throw ball and Rotaract club of Madras north got the runner up in Volley ball in Love All.

INTERCITY MEET The PRIP Rtn. Wilfred Wilkinson visited Rotary International District 3230 on 5th August, 2012. An inter city meet was organised for all the Rotary Clubs. Rotaractors from various clubs represented the District Rotaract Council and attended the Inter city meet which happened at Lady Andal School Auditorium.

PRESIDENT & SECRETARY MEET The Presidents and Secretaries Meet was held on September 9th at Nahar Hall, Whites Road. The day started with an Introduction and Context setting by SAA Rtr. PP Girish followed by Collaring the DRR. Rtr. PP Afser Ali by SAA Rtr. Girish. Presidents and Secretaries introduced themselves. DRR. Rtr. PP Afser Ali gave the Welcome address and the Secretary Report was presented by DRS. Rtr. Deepak.

To emphasis on our R. I. Theme, two white doves were set free to mark the importance of PEACE in the world by our PRIP Rtn. Wilfred Wilkinson. Then PRIP addressed the gathering and recognised all the Rtns who had made their contribution to the Rotary Foundation from Rotary International District 3230. Upcoming projects - Happy Village and EAT discussion by Rtn.Sri Ram and RED CHARIOTS Event Managers & JOY OF GIVING Week were discussed. After the discussion a close door meeting with the Presidents and Secretaries were held. A feedback session was on track after the discussion. Vote of Thanks was delivered by DRS Rtr. Deepak, and the program were ended with the National Anthem. The Editorial Board and Assembly team distributed the Directories and Assembly Kit to the Presidents and Secretaries. Lunch was provided. Rotaract Club of Chennai. The event registration was started from 3pm and the participants were given bands. The project kick started with fun events consisted of balloon fight, watermelon eating, pot breaking, rope pulling and other fun events were conducted by Rtr. Lakshmi Teja. The winners were given surprise gifts.

Followed by which Rotaractors started splashing colours over others to express the fun and share happiness.

JOUR BADA JOUR The District Rotaract Council launched this club service project for fellowship. This project was held in Queens Land. The chairman for this project is Rtr. Dinesh Kumar from Rotaract Club of Green Galaxy, the secretary for this project is Rtr. Saranya from Ethiraj College, the co-chairman for this project is Rtr. Kamuvel from Rotaract Club of S. C. P. Jain College and Rtr. Vignesh from SRM University. More than 150 rotaractors were participated in this project. 28 members from our club were participated in this project. We really enjoyed this project.

RANGEELA Rangeela, a fun filled holi festival was celebrated on 30th March, 2013 at MGR Janaki College ground hosted by Rotaract Club of SRM Vadapalani. The chairperson for the project was Rtr. BLOOD DONATION CAMP The District Rotaract Council Blood Donors team conducted a blood donation camp on 3rd Aug 2012 at Rotary Central - TTK - VHS Blood Bank. Past Rotary International President Rtn. Wilfred J. Wilkinson, Chairman, The Rotary Foundation was the Chief Guest and thanked Rotaractors for their efforts. He also lauded the District Rotaract Council, Rotary International District 3230 for the noble initiative of www.theblooddonors.org 50 Rotaractors from all Rotaract Clubs in 3230 participated in the camp.

JOY OF GIVING Hi-5 is Bhumi’s initiative to engage college students in 5 hours of community service during the Joy of Giving Week (Oct 2 - Oct 8, 2012). The District Rotaract Council in hands with Rotaract Club of Ethiraj College supported the cause. The concept was simple and easy to execute.

GO GREEN GO GREEN CAMPAIGN for World Peace Day, World Car Free Day & World Clean Up Day was held on September 22nd 2012 at Elliots Beach, Chennai. The project Chairman was Rtr. Rasul and the project Secretary was Rtr. PP Subbulakshmi. Rotaractors, Rotarians and a large number of college students spent the afternoon clearing plastic wrappers and covers, and paper cups from the beach. They also formed a human chain to mark World Peace Day. About 1,500 members of GO Green and 300 members of a non-governmental organisation, were witnessed the event.

EAT CHENNAI Rotary International, in association with Red Chariot event management organized a three day street food festival ‘Enjoy Arusuvai Thiruvizha’ in aid of the HAPPY VILLAGE initiative of Rotary International District 3230. Every club in the district has adopted a village in order to attain sustainable development. The project will focus on continuous improvement of the livelihood of the villagers and will be extended to other districts as well. Proceeds from EAT Chennai will go towards the cause where 100+ villages will benefit. Role of Rotaract. EAT Chennai was a landmark event, that had huge expectations and huge amount of planning before, during and after the event. Such an event needed detailed pin point accuracy in planning and execution. Rotarians from Rotary International District 3230 gave the energy filled Rotaractors an opportunity to prove that they had the potential to organize an event of such huge potential.

The Rotaractors were expected to combine with Rotarians and co-ordinate in different tasks including Registrations, Coupon Counters, Zone Managements, Beach Cleanliness, Water Resources and overall Discipline. The event had a lot of pre-event work including a photography competition and online promotions, the responsibility of which was given to Rotaractors. DRR Rtr. Afser Ali gave the entire responsibility of EAT Chennai to Rtr. Dhanakodi as the Rotaract Co-ordinator of EAT Chennai. A complete team of more than 200 Rotaractors was then formed to work together in living up to the district theme – ‘Together We Can’. The plan of action was sketched out and the entire stretch from Shmidt memorial to Urur Kuppam was split into 11 zones with 10 stalls in each zone. From a Rotaractors perspective, each zone was handed to a Rotaractor as ‘Zone Supervisors’ with an ‘Associate Zone Supervisor’ and a team to co-ordinate at all the zones. An event is never complete without entertainment. Entertainment teams from various college and community based clubs performed at EAT Chennai keeping the crowd entertained as they enjoyed their scrumptious food. Rtr. Theja and Rtr. Arjun Raja, with their team of MC’s and entertainers ensured that there was never a dull moment during the three day food festival.

A common frequency was set for all Rotaractors who were wired together with help of Walkie-talkies allowing them room for proper communication. Apart from Zonal Co-ordination among the Rotaractors and with the Rotarians, there were other areas that required Rotaractors supervision including managing the water resources. The Cherio bottle cartons were managed by Rtr. Porut Selvar and Rtr. Santhosh Duraiaj, who guided the cartons to be delivered to each zone with pin point precision. Rotaractors were also involved in the coupon counters where the extra coupons were sold to the public. Rtr. Solomon Rajesh effortlessly handled a team of 30 Rotaractors for this tedious task of transferring the tickets from the main coupon counters to the different zones. Rtr. Yuvabala and Rtr. Magdalene Lycia handled the Registrations at the entrance gate, which was constantly busy with public coming in consistently. EAT Chennai had a lot of pre-event activity with the Photography competition that was initiated online. More than 200 photos were uploaded online and the best photo was awarded during the last day of EAT Chennai. Rtr. Chaitanya handled the branding and execution of this competition. The overall branding and content for EAT Chennai was handled by Rtr. Neelesh Balakrishnan. The event garnered a 75,000+ footfall during the three day festival. When there is such a huge public gathering, there is bound to be some littering around. A special GO GREN team was dedicated to ensure that the beach was cleaner than before. Rtr. Rasul and Rtr. Subbu Lakshmi were the Go-Green Coordinators from Rotaract who led a huge team that joined hands with ExNoRa in making the Eliots beach a cleaner and greener place devoid of plastics and environmentally hazardous elements. When CHENNAI wanted to be a part of EAT Chennai, huge traffic was expected along the stretch leading to the Eliot’s beach. Rtr. David and Rtr. Iyyapa ensured that the parking was flexible and there was never a commotion. The entire focus during the three day festival is was on FOOD and when the entire stretch of Elliots Beach was filled with the most inviting street food from across India, it was something that Chennai had never seen before. EAT Chennai has generated a lot of appreciation from the public and as Rotaractors, we can be proud to have been an integral part of this noble fund raiser. TOGETHER WE CAN do a lot more..! The count of Rotaract Organizes during EAT Chennai were as follows Day 1 – 320 Day 2 – 280 Day 3 – 260 More than 15,000 Rotaractors took part in EAT along with their friends and families. Dhanakodi, Rotaract Co-ordinator for EAT Chennai deserves a lot of credit for keeping calm even during difficult situations and in bringing out the team spirit during the three days which kept the Rotaractors fit and raring to go for three whole days. Green Rotary award was presented to Rotary International District 3230 by ExNoRa International. The award is in recognition of Rotary’s efforts in ensuring that Elliots Beach remained clean and litter free after the three - day food festival EAT. The award was presented by Rtn. M B Nirmal to Rtn. Raja Srinivasan, District Governor, Rotary International District 3230 on 29th October, 2012 at Sir Pitty Thyagaraya Hall in the presence of Rotarians, members of ExNoRa and Rotaractors.

TASK 12 Rotary International District 3230 launched a unique initiative - Happy Village. The vision of this special project was to create 100+ Happy Villages in 3230 during the Rotary Calendar Year 2012-2013. Various clubs in District 3230 adopted villages and worked towards achieving sustainable and holistic development in areas such as Water & Sanitation, Health and Medical Care, Education and Literacy, Vocational Training, Agricultural Development and in building a dedicated social support system. To take the Happy Village concept across India, being a land of villages, Rotary International along with its youth wing of Rotaractors, comprising of more that 25000 members, organized a project titled T-12 on 12-12-12 (12th December 2012) to reach out to 1,21,212 people about the concept of HAPPY VILLAGES in India. On the execution day, there were plenty of people who gathered around the Happy Village base at Express Avenue mall, pledging support towards a cause that promises to build a better India. This massive PR exercise, attracted the public in huge numbers and Chennai gave the impression that it wanted to be involved with the betterment of our villages. Photographs of people from various walks of life with the Happy Village hand symbolization was captured all across Rotary District 3230 and was launched in a banner with 1,21,212 photos at Express Avenue mall, Chennai.

WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY LAKE CLEANING • Lake near Saligramam was cleaned by Rotractors of Rotaract Club of St. Joseph College on June 4th, 2013. BEACH CLEANING • Beach cleaning at the Elliots beach was organized by Rotaract Club of Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering on June 5th, 2013. • More than 30 Rotaractors took part in the project ECO CONFERENCE • A Conference on Green Trends was conducted on account of World Environment Day at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras on June 7th, 2013. •

The event was co-ordinated by Rotaract Club of DhanalakshmiSrinivasan College of Engineering and Technology. A total of 20 Rotaractors participated in the conference which was presided over by the Managing Director of Jeppiar Group, along with other eminent speakers and environmentalists.

CYCLE RALLY • On 9th June Cycle Rally was conducted by MGR Janaki College to Besant College, organized by Rotaract Club of TSN College. More than 30 Rotaractors participated in the project. COASTAL CLEAN UP This project done along with Chennai Trekking Club on June 16th, 2013 at VGP Golden Beach Resort. A massive campaign to clean the beach line from marina beach to akkarai. Our rotaractors assembled at light house, marina beach around 6 am. We have been picked up by the transportation arranged by them. Reached the cleaning spot at 6.20am, they gave a little orientation regarding the segregation of wastes into various categories. Rotaractors split into various teams and started collecting. INTERCITY MEET

‘The Marshals’ a training seminar for sergeant-at-arms was held on July 14th, 2012 from 9:00AM to 1:00PM at Stella Maris College. The chairman of the project was Rtr. PP Girish and the secretary was Rtr. Merlin.

Spark is an industrial Visit initiated by District professional Service Team. Spark 1 was hosted by Rotaract Club of Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering and Spark 2 was hosted by Rotaract Club of M.N.M Jain College.

This program was an initiative to make sergeant-at-arms of every club to be familiar with their significance and duties. The program helped them to develop themselves.

Spark 1 was held at Mahindra city- INFOSYS campus on 28th July, 2012. Two busses were arranged by the Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering for the event with two pick up points one at College Boarding Hostel and other at Tambaram.

The training started with the inaugural by the chief guest Rtn. Venkat Ramesh, PEPSI Regional Manager by followed by his insightful addressing. PDRR Rtr. Suresh Manoharan as the guest of honour addressed the gathering. The program started with the ice breaking session and about Rotaract by PDRR Rtr. Solomon. The next session was the rules and regulation of the sergeant arms by Rtn. Aluvaliah, Rotary International 3230 - chief sergeant-atarms, Rotary club of Madras. More than 60 rotaractors from various clubs and 10 District Officials took part in the event. The event ended with Valedictory. Rtn. Ganesh from Rotary club of Madras East was the Chief Guest for Valedictory. Refreshments were provided after the Valedictory.

The bus reached the venue at 10AM, are the Rotaractors had tea break. For the first session Rotaractors were split into two teams.The first team was headed by HR of INFOSYS Mr. Hari Krishnan and his team members MS. Nivedita and Mr.Karthik. The session mainly dealt with what it takes to be an IT professional followed by an interactive session. The entire session lasted auto 2PM. The second team handled by Mr. Krishna Prasad who is a part of the HR team of INFOSYS. The session was held in TAGORE room from 10:20AM to 2:00PM.They mainly dealt with introduction of the company and all its grand figures, goal setting, lean ability, what success is, ABC’s of communication and prep work required for an interview. The teams then dispersed for lunch and they were then given a tour of the entire campus. The students boarded the busses at 3:45PM. 145 Rotaractors took part in the event. Likewise Spark 2 was held at Mahindra city- INFOSYS campus on 25th August, 2012

MADRASAPATTINAM As a part of ‘Madras Week’ celebration (20th to 26th August, 2012), Rotaract Club of Scions in hands with District Rotaract Council 12-13 organized ‘Madrasapatinam to Singar Chennai’, a mega philatelic exhibition, a showcase of old madras antiques and photographs. This exhibit has been planned for school students in and around the Chennai city.The following are the list of Schools where this project took place,

VITAL ALERT - We Care, an NGO in association with Rotaract clubs, CTC, Distaster Management Committee IIT Madras, organized a mega awareness programme on GOLDEN HOUR CARE on 3rd November 2012 at SAC Auditorium, IIT Madras. The day started with the vision and mission of Alert on Emergency care and awareness to the students through their presentation and bytes DISTRICT ROTARACT COUNCIL 12-13

from various celebrities. Expert sessions from city police, doctors, and 108 ambulance services created awareness among students to be an Alert Being. About 200 students from various colleges witnessed this need of the hour programme. Rotaractors from various clubs participated in this awareness programme with few ZRRs, DRR and ADRRs. District sergeant team and District Club service team joined hands with us for organizing the event. The Rotaract Coordinator for this awareness programme was Rtr.PP.V.Ganesh, Alumni Rotary Foundation 3230.

PATHFINDER On 25th May 2013, District Rotaract Council jointly with Rotary International District 3230 conducted career guidance project PATHFINDER for school students from Kanchipuram District. Chief Guest for the event was Hob’le Mr. P. Viswanathan, M.P. (Lok Sabha), Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India who spoke on General Awareness and about higher education in Tamil Nadu, opportunities, demand from freshers, issues and challenges for students. Mr. Badri Seshadri–Co-founder, cricinfo.com, New Horizon Media, Author, Motivational Speaker and Socio-Political Analyst spoke on ‘How to choose your course? Aspirations, Expectations, Interests and Skill Development, Industry Expectations’. Mr. Nedumaran – Ex-Head HR – MA FOI , NLP Trainer Shared a Success story with special emphasis on what attributes should a student should have for a career success ? Mr. Sarath Babu – Founder CEO Food King, IIM-A and Motivational Speaker spoke from his life experience. Mr. Dhamu Master Trainer of Hon’ble Dr. APJ. Abdul Kalam sir’s Lead India 2020 Movement, Film Actor, Mimicry Champion engaged the audience with his session.

On 4th August 2012, the District Rotaract Council conducted ORBIS - A Training Programme for International Service Directors of various clubs from 10.00AM to 2.30PM at MRF Hall, Loyola College.

• On 2nd September 2012, Rtr. Darshan, Rotaract Club Loyola College was sent to visit to Rotary International District 3150. Rtr. VivekRathi, Associate Director – International Service also visited District 3150.

Rotaract Club of Loyola College was the host for the day. 28 Rotaract Clubs and 58 participants attended. Rtr. PP Afser Ali B., DRR chaired the inauguration. The inauguration saw the collaring of the DRR and the Host Club President Rtr. Sam Varugherse. Rtr. IPP Aditya Mohan, Chairman – ORBIS delivered the welcome address apart. The event then moved to the session conducted by Rtn. PP George B. Cherian, Assistant Governor who was the trainer for the day. He briefed the Rotaractors on the functioning of Rotaract Clubs in Generals and the specific roles of International Service Directors. He spoke from his experience as the International Service Director of our Rotaract District in 1998-99 and also his rich Rotary experiences thereafter.

On 6th September 2012 the District Rotaract Council 12-13, Rotary International District 3230 hosted 5 Rotaractors from Rotary International District 3150, Hyderabad, INDIA for our first incoming Inter District Youth Exchange. They visited Kapaleeswarar Temple, Ram Residence, Santhome Basilica and Express avenue mall.

Rotaractors were hosted at Loyola College for a collared meeting of DRR Rtr. AfserAli B with the incoming Rotaractors. A brief presentation was made about our District. The meeting ended with an official flag and letterhead exchange with Rtr. Rohit, IDYE Chairman, and Rotary International District 3150.

District Rotaract Council hosted the Inter District Youth Exchange Team from R.I. District 3080 (Zone 4 of Rotary International). The District was represented by the Lead Club Rotaract Club of Chandigarh (Sponsored by Rotary Club of Chandigarh).

5 Rotaractors from RC Chandigarh visited our district from 17th Jan 2013 to 21st Jan 2013. The accommodation of the Rotaractors was provided by the Annual District Rotaract Conference 12-13 – THINK! Team at Rtr. Tarun Murugesh’s house at Aminjikarai, Chennai. On 17th Jan 2013, they were taken for dinner to Apoorva Sangeetha Restaurant hosted by the District International Service Team.

PDRR Rtr. Solomon Victor K. conducted management games for the Rotaractors and all participants thoroughly enjoyed and participated with full vigour. Rtn. Rajesh, Chairman – Rotaract, Rotary Club of Madras was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory. All guests and speakers were recognised with mementos. Rtr. Namitha, Director – International Service, Rotaract Club of M.O.P. Vaishnav College was given recognition as the Most Active Participant at ORBIS. Rtr. Darshan C., Secretary – ORBIS delivered the Vote of Thanks. The event closed with the National Anthem.

• On 18th Jan 2013, the Dinner was sponsored by Rotaract Club of Siddhanth. • On 18th Jan 2013, The Rotaractors then proceeded to Amusement Park Fellowship hosted by Rotaract Club of Zenith at Queensland Amusement Park, Chennai accompanied by Lunch sponsored by the Club. • On 18th Jan 2013, The Rotaractors were then hosted by the District Rotaract Chairman Rtn. PP. Murali R. Rao at My Fortune, Chennai for Hi-tea. •

On 18th Jan 2013, dinner fellowship hosted by Rotaract Club of Loyola Community at The Residency Towers Hotel, The dinner fellowship was followed by First-Aid demonstration organized by the Club, conducted by Rtr. Tarun Murugesh at his residence. The Rotaractors learned the basics of CPR and first-aid at this demonstration.

On 20th Jan 2013 the Rotaractors were hosted for breakfast at Apoorva Sangeetha Restaurant by Rotaract Club of Akash. They were then taken by the Club for an ongoing community service project at a home for the mentally challenged and elderly persons in Kilpauk.

On 20th Jan 2013, 16th District Rotaract Council Meeting hosted by the International Service Team. Here the Rotaractors gave a presentation of their club and district and the same was done from the host district. Formal exchange of letterhead and flag was conducted.

ROTASIA Rotasia Bangladesh 2013 was held at Dhaka, Bangladesh hosted by Rotary International district 3280 from 30th January 2013 to 2nd February 2013. 11 Rotaractors from R.I. District 3230 Participated. Rtn. PP. Murali R. Rao, District Chairman – Rotaract also participated in Rotasia. R.I. District 3230 was awarded Best Presentation Award among all the districts. Rotaractors exchanged flags and pins with other Rotaract Districts. Rtr. PP. Aditya Mohan, Director – International Service was member of the Rotasia Registration Promotion Committee. Rtr. Vivek Rathi, Associate Director- International Service lead the contingent from R.I. District 3230. On 30th Jan 2013 the Rotaractors witnessed Business Session on various topics and the speaker were from both Rotary and Corporate. 31st Jan 2013 was the Cultural Day. Rotaractors of RID 3230 took actively part and also joined together with other district and performed and won various awards including best presentation. On 1st Feb 2013, the Rotaractors were treated to River Cruise across the Buriganga River. On 2nd Feb 2013, local sightseeing around Dhaka was arranged and Rotasia Valedictory was held.

• The Rotaractors then proceeded to fellowship at Marina Beach where the delegates visited the Beach for the first time in their lives. It was a fun experience for them. • On 20th Jan 2013, The Rotaractors were then hosted by the Rotaractors from Rotaract Club of Madras Mount at Rtr. PP. Subhadra Marimuthu’s Residence.

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL ELECT VISIT On 27th March 2013, Rtn. Ron D. Burton, President Elect, Rotary International alongwith Ann. Jetta visited R.I. District 3230. Rotaractors gave R.I. Pres. Elect a rousing and warm reception at Chennai International Airport. Rotaractors got an opportunity to interact with Rtn. Ron and Ann. Jetta at Rotary Central TTK VHS Blood Bank, Chennai. Rotaractors also attended Inter City Meet organised to honour the R.I. President Elect. Rtr. PP. Ramkumar Raju A., District Rotaract Representative Elect received special commendation from the R.I. President for his contribution to The Rotary Foundation as a Paul Harris Fellow.

ROTARY SOUTH ASIA SUMMIT 2013 The first Rotary South Asia Summit was held from 3rd to 5th May 2013 at Hyderabad. This first time South Asia Summit was held. 15 Rotaractors from R.I. District 3230 registered for Rotary South Asia Summit. On 4th May 2013, a special award ceremony was held on the sidelines of the RSAS 2013 by Rotaract South Asia Multi District Information Organization (RSAMDIO). District 3230 won 6 Awards for the period 2009-12.

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL NOMINEE VISIT On 1st May 2013, Rtn. Gary C.K. Huang, President Nominee, Rotary International along with Ann. Corinna visited R.I. District 3230. Rotaractors welcomed him at the Chennai International Airport with customised Gary and Corinna Masks. Rotaractors attended the InterCity reception at Taj Coromandel, Chennai. Rotaract club of Zenith in hands with District Rotaract Council launched the “VALUE CARD” to recognize the best project in each and every DRC Meeting of Rotaract clubs in R.I.Dist 3230. The purpose of the value card is to recognize unique and valuable project executed by the clubs.

• On 7th October, DRC we recognized Rotaract club of Green Galaxy for ICYE Project where they visited Orissa and Bhubaneswar.

• On the 15th July 2012 (1st DRC) we recognized the timely help done by Rotaract Club of M G R Janaki College by providing the venue for the award ceremony & District Installation 12-13.

• On 11th November, Joint with DRC we recognized Rotaract club of Madras North for their Project – Al Paathi Aadai Paathi.

On 12th August, we recognized Rotaract club of Madras West for “VARNAM” project where they celebrated Krishna Jayanthi in Hope Orphanage School which is in Ambathur. They distributed sweets, savories and chocolates and Conducted Drawing competition to the students and they planned to display it in 2013 year calendar.

Zone 4 gave maximum no of Club registrations in all the District Events (Assembly , RYLA , Conference , Go Green, Rally’s, ZRC II Celebration, EAT festival ) . In Zonal Rotaract Convention – Celebration, Zone 4 won Over all Best Zone Award & Won Ist Runner up in Zone fest. Zone 4 Conducted 4 avenue service of projects Club Service (Eat O Meet O) –Went to lunch Meet in Dhaba Express with Zone 4 President & Secretary after that celebrated DRR.Rtr.PP.Afser Ali Birthday Celebration. Community Service ( Wear On) – Zone 4 gave awareness on Wear Helmet and we branded Rotaract also.we gave a sticker which included the words “WEAR HELMET” and Rotaract Logo. Professional Service (Jack & Jill- up the Hill) – More than 50 Rotaractors Participated from Zone 4 and from the district. We went to Sada Siva Kona hill in Andhra Pradesh organized by Back pack Trekking Club. International Service - We exchange Wear on Strickers to the IDYE team which came from R.I. Dist 3050. We created Awareness & share the importance about the helmet & promote R.I.Dist 3230 Four Clubs Received Value Card from District Rotaract Council & Rotaract Club of Zenith. Every 2 months we had a meeting with Zone 4 clubs President & Secretary for the improvement of the clubs & to update about the District events in various places like- Semmozhi Poonga , Besent Nagar beach etc .

ZONE 5 HIGHLIGHTS • In the month of June 19th and 20th District Rotaract council conducted PETS AND SETS 12 clubs were present from Zone 5 and won the best supporting zone award • In the month of june we organized our first zone meeting at New College 11 Clubs participated in this meeting . • In the month of August 26th District Rotaract Assembly 100% participation from zone 5 totally 13 clubs were present. • In the month of October, 9 clubs from zone 5 were present in District Ryla – Googly to mention zone 5 showed maximum club registration. • In the month of November we organized our 2nd Zone meeting at semmozhi poonga 9 Clubs participated in this meeting. • In the month December 12 clubs participated in District Zonal Convention – 1 (Pulse) and won Best cultural Team and best Zone award. • In the month of December we organized our 3rd zone meeting at semmozhi poonga 12 Clubs participated in this meeting. • In the month of February 9 clubs from zone 5 participated in the Grand District Conference – Think. • In the month of March we joined hands with Zone 7 and organized a zonal ryla - Adayalam in Rotaract Club of Dhanalakshmi engineering college 120 rylarians were present. We Conducted first Zone Meeting on June 17th in Nahar hall where 5 Clubs were attended. Second meeting happened on June 24th in Loyola College where 7 clubs were attended. Third meeting happened on October 21st in Rotary Centre where 3 clubs were attended. Fourth meeting happened on October 27th in Marina Beach where 4 clubs were attended. Fifth meeting happened on December 9th in Ethiraj College where 9 clubs were attended. On November 24th ,Zone 6 Zonal Outing in Dash and Splash were 50 Rotaractors were participated. We helped a patient called Nataraj with 5000rs for his operation We helped a student named Subhashree doing her 10th std, with 6000rs for her term fees. This was a joint project of Zone 6 and RC of Akash We Had Zonal Visit on April 28th , 2013 at Chit Chat(Mount Road). We had 5 clubs – RC of Vishwahitha, RC of CL Baid Mehtha College, RC of Green Galaxy, RC of REC and RC of MIT presenting their presentations. Do’s present – DRR Afser, ADRR Santosh, DRRE Ram, ZRR Santosh, ZRR Dhanakodi, ZRR Muneeswaran, ZRR Subbulakshmi, ZRR Anbu, District SAA Girish and others. We had fellowship followed by presentations. We won Best Zonal Presentation Award and Best cultural award in Zonal Rotaract Convention – Celebration. Rotaract Club of SSS Jain and Rotaract Club of Rajalakshmi Engineering College hosted DRC Meeting Rotaract Club Rajalakshmi Engineering College joint host with 2 more clubs hosted Zonal Rotaract Convention – Celebration.
