LETTER FROM THE GOVERNOR Hey Southwest! I hope you are all having a wonderful summer break, and if you’re taking summer classes I have faith you can power through! We had eleven members at CKIx in Orlando, Florida at the end of June! We were able to celebrate Laura Belmont’s year as International President, learn lots of things at workshop, connect with other districts and Kiwanis members, and most importantly elect Sara Al’Midany as International Vice President! I know we are all so so proud of her. CKIx is always a wonderful experience, and I hope to have even more of you there when it is in Las Vegas, Nevada 2020! The district board has been working very hard for you this past month. Presidents are prepping for back to school recruitment, and planning awesome semesters. Cielo is working on planning an awesome Fall Rally, along with Anna planning DCON. Caitlyn the fundraising chair is in the midst of getting some new Southwest merch out (h*ck yeah
)! Mariah and
Josh are planning an awesome CLE, and Hannah is getting the website to be spic and span! At the beginning of August there will be Kiwanis DCON. This is a great opportunity to meet Kiwanians from all over the Southwest District. Please reach out to your club President, Mariah McMurren, or myself if you’re interested in going! LETTER FROM THE K-FAMILY CHAIR Hi Southwest! I am Bre Anne, your K-Family Chair for this year! In addition to serving as Western New Mexico University CKI President, I am a sophomore at WNMU studying for a degree in Social Work. This year, our goal as a District is to inspire every club to get involved with the local Kiwanis Club, Aktion Club, Key Club, Builder’s Club, or K-Kids. Our district goal is 50 events, but that’s just a number. Reach out to your K-Family clubs to have fundraisers, service projects, or even just a fun fellowship event. If you don’t know who is close by, please reach out to me and I will get you the information you need. Throughout the year, we want you to build memories with your K- Family clubs. Feel free to send your event photos to myself, Hannah, or your club President and they will be shared in our District bulletins and social media. Let’s join together and have the best year yet! Please reach out to you KFamily and get involved!

“I nominated Marhiya Ontiveros for the University of Arizona’s Member of the Month for her amazing help this summer. Marhiya will be a senior this upcoming academic year and she is U of A’s current Bulletin Editor and OREO. Throughout the summer, Marhiya has proven to be a reliable OREO by looking into tabling opportunities during summer orientation at U of A and plans to make CKI flyers to put up around campus during the summer.
