LETTER FROM THE GOVERNOR Hey Southwest!I hope you all have had a great semester! Kind of crazy it is already December. Back in September we had a shrektastic Club Leadership Education at Kamp Kiwanis. Mariah and Josh (our two Lieutenant Governors) worked really hard to plan the event for your club boards! For those who went I hope you all had a wonderful time, and if you did not go I hope you consider attending our next one (even if you are not a board member)!October was a busy month for us! I started it off by going to Albuquerque to volunteer at the Balloon Fiesta with UNM as my Governor's Visit! Even after spending 6 hours in the ER (with my International Vice President and very own club President), it was so much fun getting to serve with UNM! Then the following weekend NAU and I headed back to New Mexico to have a magical weekend at Fall Rally. Cielo, our Fall Rally Chair, did a breathtaking job at planning and executing Fall Rally. If you were not able to attend you surely missed out, and I hope to see you at Fall Rally in 2020. Lastly, the District Board voted in Promise Lattimore as our new Laws and Regulations Chair. Welcome Promise!I started off November by heading to ASU to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children for my Governor visit with them. We also went to Snakes and Lattes which was a super cool social.
LETTER FROM THE GOVERNOR CONT.
The next day I headed down to U of A to eat some yummy Mexican food and volunteer at the Celtic Festival. It was so much fun getting to see both clubs and I am so happy they had me visit! I also, attended Key Club Fall Rally as a facilitator and it was so much fun getting to work with the Key Clubbers! The district also opened a suggestion form this month. Please feel free to send us (or International) some feedback! We want to hear from you, and you can get the link from any District Board Member! As for December, we had out first District Forum on December 1st. I hope for those of you who attended, you had a good time. The next one will be January 4th at 7pm! Other than that we are all working to wrap up the semester, and ensuring second semester is going to be even better! Happy holidays everyone!! <3
LETTER FROM THE BULLETIN EDITOR Hey Southwest! It's been awhile since a bulletin has been released, so I just want to apologize to you all! School gets a little hectic around midterms and as seniors get ready to graduate, we get frantic about our graduate applications, and then finally all the finals at the end of first semester. The good news is that we are all done with the first semester and hopefully we all have the grades we want! Now that life seems to be more on track we can get to focusing on the good stuff.... what the Southwest Southbest has been up to! So much has happened, from CLE (Club Leadership Education) to Fall Rally and now DCON (District Convention) is on the way. All of the chairs have been working round the clock to make sure all these events run smoothly and to their liking! I hope you all schedule some time out of your busy schedules and try and make it to an event or two! I hope to keep you all updated these next few months as we all get ready to start welcoming in our new board! (so get to thinking about something you may want to do and reach out to that person!) Have a great holiday season and see you all next semester!Â

RECRUITMENT
Recruitment happens year round, but the beginning of the academic year is when we all take our current members and try and recruit other students on campus and the new transfers and freshman! Our club OReOs and LTG of Recruitment worked hard this summer and continue to work hard!
CLUB LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE It was a SHREK-tastic event! Mariah and Josh worked so hard to make Kamp Kiwanis look like the beloved Shrek Swamp we all know and love. Like the movie Shrek, our weekend was filled with adventures, fellowship, leadership, and service.

GOVERNOR'S PROJECT
Founder, Jamie Tworkowski, didn’t set out to start a nonprofit organization. All he wanted to do was help a friend and tell her story. When Jamie met Renee Yohe, she was struggling with addiction, depression, self-injury, and suicidal thoughts. He wrote about the five days he spent with her before she entered a treatment center, and he sold T-shirts to help cover the cost. When she entered treatment, he posted the story on MySpace to give it a home. The name of the story was “To Write Love on Her Arms. You can read the whole story on their website! To Write Love On Her Arms is a non-profit organization that directly funds treatment and recovery for those suffering depression, suicide, addiction, and self-injury. The goal is to encourage, inform, inspire, and invest directly into treatment and recovery
Our goal this year is to raise $4,000 as a district to support TWLOHA. This organization uses this money to point people to credible national, local, and community resources which address a variety of mental health issues and illnesses, create a positive community that believes in the reality of recovery by providing encouragement and inspiration through creative campaigns, online media, and events, promotes education and awareness through merchandise, speaking, tours, social media, and various programs, and offers grants to organizations and treatment centers and support counseling through scholarship funds. They have given more than $2.3 million to treatment and recovery so far, let's help with that! Want to join us in making a difference? Any donation made to To Write Love On Her Arms will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause, means so much to us!
